...why does this arc even exists? why do we need it? what is it's purpose? I don't like this fullbringer biz and the gangs look super shady. Stop this. Only reason I'm giving a 5 is bc Ichigo looks too hot for a 2D character. 😩🤌🏻 Orihime ur man 🙏🏻 needs to rest.

"Who taught you how to fight?"
"I was taught the basics, the rest I learned in battle. I was a Soul Reaper for only a short period. But in terms of experience, I got more than you guys."
[Ichigo]

Volume 51 starts the moment the previous one left off - in the Ichigo vs Jackie training fight. Ichigo's Fullbring power is still underdeveloped while Jackie had spend years with her Fullbring. The fight is not fair in the slightest, but despite that, Ichigo's managing to keep up with Jackie and even comes close to winning, but, when an unexpected guest makes an appearance in the Xcution's hideout, the training match gets interrupted and Ichigo needs to face a new opponent.

Volume 51 is another volume with twists and turns that a reader wouldn't expect to see. It's obvious that when Ichigo is training and coming closer and closer to have a full control over his Fullbring power, the enemy wouldn't be waiting for him to become a Soul Reaper again. Xcution members have a clear goal, but Tsukishima has his own agenda that no one really knows about. Ginjou thinks that Tsukishima is after Ichigo and wants to kill him (like he had supposedly killed the previous Substitute), but is this what Tsukishima is really after? Would he really stop pursuing Ichigo despite the intervention of the Xcution members? It seems very unlikely. Of course, I already know what's up with him and I'm honestly not looking forward to the big reveal. Part of me wants to get through this arc as fast as possible, but the other part of me fears it. I will be screaming with rage and bawling my eyes out, I know it. I got through it already, not once and not twice (but I still feel like I'm not prepared for it). But I also know what happens after it and this is something I'm incredibly excited to see again (one of my favorite BLEACH episodes!) ☺️

Anyways, this volume ends in the middle of Ichigo vs Ginjou training fight. Ichigo's in a big trouble - can he get out of it and not only win against Ginjou, but fully develop his Fullbringer powers? What will be Tsukishima's next move? What will Ishida do now that he's fully healed? Will his arrival change things? And what are Urahara and Isshin up to? We will see in the next volume! 😉

Some things I need to talk about: (beware of the spoilers!)

~ "What's with that outfit? I didn't know there were fullbrings you could wear."
"There are. That's why I'm dressed like this."
"What its ability?"
"You think I'd tell you?"
- I would congratulate Jackie to be the only character who hadn't immediately explain to her opponent how her power works, but then she had messed it all up by EXPLAINING HOW HER POWER WORKS 😩
~ But despite that, I do like Jackie. She seemed genuinely concerned about Ichigo's wellbeing and wanted to stop the training match when she saw him losing control over his Fullbring.
~ What was the photo that Tsukishima and Shishigawa had of Ichigo?! GIMME THAT!! 😍
~ I really like that, after Ichigo said how he was taught how to fight, an image of four of his greatest opponents (Renji, Zaraki, Grimmjow and Ulquiorra) appeared. (To be honest I was a little bit surprised to see Renji instead of Byakuya, but it's nice that Renji got the appreciation he needed!)
~ It was so typical of Ichigo to insist to keep on going with the training despite the fact that he was clearly struggling with his Fullbringer powers.
~ Ginjou feeling the need to knock Ichigo out to keep him out of the battlefield - I don't appreciate Ichigo being beaten in any way, but I feel like there was no other way to make Ichigo stay away from the fight.
~ I could've really like Ginjou's version before the cut. I really could. And him and Ichigo could've stayed as friends. I could see that. But what happened, happened...
~ It's really funny how the author tries to make Urahara and Isshin suspicious, like it's not obvious what they are really up to and like it's not obvious who was the third person standing with them!
~ Orihime's terrified face when she arrived in Yukio's training game and saw Ichigo in a pool of blood - girl, same
~ "Call it what you want. Just don't attack until I say so." - ORIHIME?? IS THAT REALLY YOU?? And I am really me, because I liked this scene?? 😯 Jokes aside, I'm glad to finally see Orihime standing up to her opponents and protecting Ichigo like she should. Go, girl. Just don't piss me off again and we will be good! 😆
~ I don't understand... I don't feel anything from his sword. I thought that it was because I wasn't used to fighting him at first, but that's not it. I don't feel anything no matter how many times I strike him. It's different from what I felt against Gin Ichimaru. His focus just wasn't on me. But this guy's different. He's looking straight at me, but I can't feel anything from him. It's as if there's a lid on his mind. - THE FORESHADOWING! How I haven't caught it when I watched the anime for the first time is beyond me! (instead of realizing the truth, I got a big surprise punch like I did in Aizen's case)

While the fullbring training continues, the new villain makes a much more pronounced appearance here and remains mysterious in the extent of his powers or objectives.

I continue to be unimpressed with this story arc and remain hopeful for things to get better and much more original. Ichigo's training is quite redundant with past efforts and his new "setting" makes things feel incredibly out of place within a franchise that focused on Soul Reapers once upon a time.

Ichigo is constantly getting stronger and his powers are coming back faster than anyone expected and I wonder what his father is up to. Also what’s Tsukishima really after because he attacked Orihime and Chad but did not leave a mark? Let’s just see what happens next in this interesting arc.

Bleach, Vol. 51 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (442–450) of the on-going manga series.

While overpowered at first by Jackie Tristan's Fullbring, Ichigo Kurosaki is able to activate a power of Fullbring known as Bringer Light to gain the advantage before he starts to lose control over his powers. It is then that Shūkurō Tsukishima attacks Xcution to kill Ichigo, destroying the fish tank containing Ichigo and Jackie. Luckily, Ichigo saves himself and Jackie while having entered the next stage of his Fullbring.

The battle is taken outside when Yasutora "Chad" Sado attacks Tsukishima before he reveals he was the one who attacked Uryū Ishida and Orihime Inoue. This causes Ichigo to battle Tsukishima before being overpowered with Kūgo Ginjō holding Tsukishima off. Ichigo is digitally sealed by Yukio Hans Vorarlberna's Fullbring so Chad and Xcution can drive Tsukishima off.

The group moves to a new base of operations where they explain to Ichigo that Tsukishima was originally a member of their group who gone rogue and who's Fullbring allows him to alter peoples' memories. Ichigo then resumes his training through Yukio Hans Vorarlberna's Fullbring as he spars against Ginjō with Orihime brought in to heal him.

This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. It continues the training of Ichigo Kurosaki as a Fullbring and manages to initiate his powers, albeit he is not entirely in control of them. He discovered a traitor in the group who had hurt his friends, but due to his inability to control his powers, he is unable to save them and allowed the other Fullbrings to do so. As the tankōbon closes, he continues his training.

All in all, Bleach, Vol. 51 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems intriguing and I cannot wait to read more.

This volume made me appreciate how this arc is taking place in the real human world, where they can’t level buildings or cause explosions without human beings noticing something is going on. I liked seeing even more of the Fullbringers explored here with their different powers, and I liked how they were weird and unique. I liked the storyline with Orihime and Chad trying to keep Ichigo out of harms way, and I like how Ichigo’s friends have stepped up as defenders of Karakura Town in his abscence. I always thought it was a major plot convenience for Ichigo to develop and master different powers and abilities so fast, but in the past it was explained that he had natural latent Soul Reaper powers and in this volume it is explained that his battle experience gave him wisdom enough to quickly learn Fullbring at an average level (but not perfectly). I loved seeing Orihime expand on her abilities with more offensive attacks, I feel like her character arc with her powers is understated but effectively done despite the slow burn. I liked seeing Orihime interact with Riruka, and I liked the conversation they had about Orihime’s lost loved ones and how she’s able to smile while talking about her tragic past. This volume was interesting and it made me slowly feel more curious and interested by these newer characters and where this arc is going.

In hopes of unlocking his full Soul Reaper powers, Ichigo continues his training by battling it out with the Fullbringers. Bleach, Volume 51: Love Me Bitterly Loth Me Sweetly begins with him taking on Jackie Tristan. Seeing Ichigo gain his confidence and powers back made me feel like a proud mama bear. It was fun to see him transform even though there was so much yelling from Jackie's end. And what is up with the Nazi theme?

I have to say, I really love seeing Kisuke and Isshin together. There is just something about those two funny guys with the hidden badass side doing something mysterious that makes me swoon. Just as I was getting over the heart palpitations from seeing my two favorite characters again, I notice this:

Ooh!

Who could this be?

After seeing those images, I honestly didn't care what else happened in the book. In my excitement, I forgot what took place before and then I could barely focus on what came after. I am giddy and just itching to start the next volume.

Love the fullbring arc. The Fullbring abilities are so cool and unique, specifically "game over" really nice art shots with it and an awesome concept. Ichigo is slowly coming back and its being written in a pretty good way, slow and tedious and he's still getting his ass kicked/useless to help when Tsukishima turns up.

Riruka sends Ichigo into her doll house in order to train and then takes off, as if she is indifferent to what happens. But we know that’s not true. Ichigo is facing Jackie Tristan. When he doesn’t attack first, she does, as she proceeds to demonstrate what her dirty boots means. It’s not exactly what he expects.

Orihime confides to Chad about her interaction with the strange man who she is positive cut her, and how suddenly she felt as though he was her friend, although how is that possible? Meanwhile that same man, Tsukishima, speculates as to how Ginjo would feel if he were to attack Ichigo directly.

Chad goes to Ginjo to tell him what Orihime said and to question him about Tsukishima’s ability. But Ginjo is cagy and reluctant to speak openly. Even as he tells Chad that it couldn’t have been Tsukishima who stabbed Orihime, the man in question bursts into the room and then inserts himself into the doll house. When the doll house explodes, forcibly ejecting everyone inside, Ichigo finds himself facing Tsukishima, while the others wonder how they are going to explain the damage to the neighbors. Time to move?

Uryu calls Orihime to come to the hospital where he is recuperating. Previously, he rejected her offer to heal him, but he has come to the realization that he should avail himself of her ability, as the situation has changed. Now he detects spirit energy that is Ichigo’s! Is that even possible? Leaving the hospital, Orihime runs into Chad, who tells her about Ichigo’s training, and how he will need her to play a part in it. He brings her to the new headquarters where she is instantly beset upon by Rurika. The jealous Rurika tries to warn Orihime off by telling her that healing Ichigo will lead to greater suffering on his part, but Orihime has an answer for that. Rurika ends up spending time with Orihime while Ichigo trains, and Orihime sees through her tough as nails exterior.

I find it interesting how even in the midst of battle, whether a training battle or a real one, Ichigo finds time to have a discussion with his opponent. This volume is mostly about Ichigo’s Fullbring training, but we are also learning a few things, such as Tsukishima has an agenda, Orihime isn’t as naïve as she once was, and Rurika isn’t as hard as she appears. It’s also becoming clear that maybe Ichigo can regain his Soul Reaper powers. Huzzah for that, if true! Looking forward to the next volume.

Given that Manga, and especially Shonen is split up into bigger arcs as composed to volumes I will be analyzing and reviewing this by Arc. I also reread this manga over the span of 2 months, some days reading as much as 100 chapters a day. It would be quite tedious for me to review each 7-8 chapter volume. So this will be copy and pasted throughout all of the 72 manga volumes. That being said, if you're looking at this without having viewed the series...spoiler warning. I don't recap anything, but I also mention things that happen. If you want me to answer the question "Should I pick this up?" Yes. Even if you stop at the end of the Soul Society Arc. It's worth it.

Karakura Town Arc - Chapters 1-56 - Rating: 7/10
(The official page lumps this in with the Soul Society Arc however I feel as if they are two very separate arcs with two very separate themes)
- A fun introduction.
-An interesting premise on the idea of ghosts and demons (Hollows)
-Does a good job of introducing the characters and I especially enjoyed the love for characters like Chad, Orihime and Uryu as these characters would later lose more and more spotlight as the series went on.
-It is a bit of a monster of the week. When it works, like with Chad's introduction story. It works. But Characters like Don Kanonji felt superficial and very gimmicky. Which, fair. I didn't enjoy them as much.

Soul Society Arc - Chapters 57-182 - Rating: 10/10
-The height of Bleach
-Establishes an afterlife seemingly perfectly. Later on revealed to be full of plot holes and never fleshed out but hey! That's not an issue in THIS arc. The fights are top tier, the themes of Ichigo owing a life debt to Rukia and his passion and determination to rise above literally God's army is inspiring and to this day is why I love Ichigo so much. He doesn't have some grandiose plan. He doesn't have a major goal to accomplish. He is a protector by heart, losing his mother has made him sour to failing to protect those he cares about and he'll do anything in his power never to feel that helpless again. Very powerful stuff.
-The twist near the end of this arc is revolutionary and would make waves for the next 200 chapters onward. A perfect ending and set up for the forthcoming arc.
-The only issues I have for this arc would be Ichigo's lightning speed progression. The guy goes from being able to barely defeat a third seat to besting multiple captains in roughly 100 or less chapters. I get that that is the point and him defeating captains was more of a struck of luck, but progression and pacing wise it feels very unearned and a factor of "for the plot he needed to be this strong" It only seems as fast as it is because Ichigo's progression slows drastically down for the rest of the story moving foreword so it's only now that I make that criticism.
-Also, and this will be an issue in most Shonen. There are 13 Captains with 13 Vice Captains and seats that branch all the way to 10 I believe? Regardless, there's a fudge ton of characters that are introduced here and it can get a little jarring at times. Luckily, Kubo does a great job at making their designs and characters unique despite such a large cast.

Hueco Mundo Arc - Chapters 183-423 - Rating 7/10
-This is another arc where personally I would split it up into two separate arcs. But for the sake of this review I will simply refer to the first half of the arc and the later half of the arc. First Half 9/10. Second Half. 5/10.
-The first half of this arc is a great continuation of the last. Ichigo now struggles with his inner demons and it affects his ability to protect the ones he loves. We are also introduced to a deadly unknown new villains. The Arrancars/Espada to this day remain one of my favorite villain factions in all of manga enemies.
-Just so you're aware I would say the first half of this arc ends right around the point of Ichigo vs Grimmjow. Grimmjow is one of the first Arrancar that Ichigo faces. And he's also one of two Espada that he faces three times. The conclusion of that fight shows Ichigo conquering his inner demons. Where Grimmjow is very much fighting to establish himself. Grimmjow has to fight Ichigo to prove to his fallen comrades that he is as good as he says he is. He doesn't care about Aizen, he doesn't care about the rest of the Espada. It is very personal for him. For Ichigo, Orohime is within his grasp of saving and he views this as his "final" battle. It's my favorite fight in all of Bleach.
-However, this is where things start to take a bit of dip in quality in my opinion. We had a goal and we were striving towards that goal. Each character of the original cast coming to repay the debt they made to their friend who had risked her life to save them in the Soul society arc. But somewhere along the way it seems we just had a fighter fest. Captains would face enemies with no themes or character revelations. The Espadas got a little light but nothing that made their fights compelling. You almost just feel bad for the Espada as they were monsters turned into a military force by an unstoppable tyrant. But even that wasn't enough to make half of the fights interesting. Now, that's with knowing the outcome. These fights played little importance in the larger scheme of things. Where at least in the Hueco Mundo fights each match up had the protagonists striving for a goal. Rukia to defeat Aaroneiro to free her former superiors soul. Byakuya to defend Rukia. Renji and Uryu teamwork. Nel to protect Ichigo and get revenge on Nnoitra. Whereas Stark fought Kyoraku.....cause.....and Hitsugaya fought Halibel because Water vs Ice would be cool.
-This leaves me to the end. I won't say it wasn't satisfying that Ichigo was able to defeat Aizen. And yes, I do feel like his new power was earned. 3 months of training. But this was clearly a last minute decision to save Aizen for a later date and the show must go on. I do feel like it wasn't as satisfying as 200+ chapter buildup needed to be.

The Fullbring Arc - Chapters 424-479 - Rating: 8/10
-A very underrated arc. And yes, I acknowledge that rating wise I think the Fullbring arc is superior to the Hueco Mundo arc. That is mostly true. Though I like the first half of the Hueco Mundo Arc more than the Fullbring arc. The end of the HM arc really brought it down for me. The Fullbring Arc is much more concise and is actually the shortest arc in the series and works as a glorified Ichigo getting his powers back arc. But that doesn't mean its bad.
-When I read it originally back when it was coming out in 2010. (Cause I'm Old) It wasn't phenomenal. In fact, I hated it. But wouldn't you? It took just short of a year to get to the point that we were at. But upon rereading it, it gave much deserved love to the characters who hadn't been shown love in quite some time. The original cast. It was a very character focused arc. Ichigo never seemed more human. And despite me hating it before for taking so long, reading weekly can sometimes hurt these mystery based arcs. The twist is heavily foreshadowed and I really appreciated it.
-That being said, the end was super rushed. This was a big bummer for me. The villains this time around were humans. And the ones who had the most exposure and relations with these characters were the original cast who again....were humans. So to have the soul reapers, who have no connection to the fullbringers show up and basically no diff most of the fullbringers felt very forced and fanservicey to me. This very well could have not been Kubo's call. As the community was very vocal about their dislike for this arc as it was going on. But I appreciate it now much more as I appreciate character and story over big sword fights. Lol.

The Thousand Year Blood War Arc - Chapters 424-689 - Rating: 5/10
-And we're finally here. The final and largest arc within the Bleach story. And man...does it not stick the landing.
-That being said, this arc has phenomenal moments. Kenpachi's Shikai and Bankai. Ichigo's double swords. Renji's true Bankai. Rukia's Bankai. And many more. However, they are put together against the most break neck speed arc that I have ever read. Kubo was very ambitious when he introduced 26 new villains. However, most of them got barely any screen time and a lot of them even got off screened by higher level captains. This was unlike the Espada who each got a full double page spread for their Resurrections.
-Yhwach himself was a phenomenal villain but was dealt with swiftly and imo dirty. They did him dirty.
-There was just something off. The mood changed and it was very apparent. The villains had random powers instead of the powers reflecting their personalities or needs. The finale felt so underwhelming.
-Ichigo gets to be the strongest he's ever been....but he doesn't defeat a single person besides the main villain despite being in several fights.
-It isn't a good arc. In fact, I would say it's the worst. Hopefully the anime does a better job with this already mammoth of a story. 260 chapters is no joke.

This gives the story of Bleach an Overall rating of 7.4/10. Which to me is above average. It has it's ups and downs. It's not perfect. But when it's high, it's peak shonen. But when it's low, it's very forgettable.

4/5 (Review is for the series as a whole and does not contain spoilers)

Ichigo Kurosaki is a high school student who can see ghosts. When an evil spirit, called a hollow, attacks his family, he meets Rukia, a soul reaper tasked with fighting against hollows. But when Rukia is injured, Ichigo must make the decision to take over the role of soul reaper to help fight against hollows to save his hometown.

Bleach is a classic manga and one of the more popular options for those starting out in the genre/format. It features themes of friendship, growing up and changing, and never giving up. One of the most enjoyable elements of this series is watching the progression as the characters learn and evolve. Ichigo has a tendency to be really cocky, especially at the start of the series, but as time goes on and he learns more about the world he’s in, he changes and becomes more willing to listen to the advice given to him by other characters. His friends also continue to grow and progress along with him. Additionally, there is a change in the art style of the characters as the story progresses, which makes it easy to see how they have changed as they all get older. There were two elements about this series that I disliked. The first was that I felt the ending was a bit rushed, and there were some things that I was a bit confused about. However, I recognize that the author was sick and so that attributed to the way things ended. The other element that I disliked was the sheer number of characters in the series by the end. Many of the characters that I thought were dead or gone ended up coming back, and I had to try and remember who they all were. I definitely think I needed to make myself a character sheet with information about each character to help me remember everyone in the end. In terms of assessing age appropriateness for this series, I would say that it’s an okay series for middle school and up. A couple of considerations to keep in mind when deciding if it’s right for you: 1. There is some violence (which is common for shonen mangas), including some elements of body horror, but it’s not too bad. 2. There is no sexual content, although many of the women are drawn disproportionately (which is common in manga written by men). 3. The main character is fifteen years old at the start of the series and only gets older as it progresses. And 4. The themes are a bit mature in that they require some deeper level thinking in order to fully understand them all. Overall, I enjoyed this series for its interesting premise, and would definitely recommend it to those who enjoy the traditional shonen manga.

Ginjo is sussy. Lol.

I can see why people would think this is "the worst" or slowest arc of the series, but tbh I feel like it's necessary after all the action-packed crazy shit that happened before this. It's a palette-cleanser. Also, people saying Bleach should have ended with Aizen clearly need to re-read this. This is crucial to the world-building. It explains Orihime's and Chad's powers, and it's also building up to Ichigo's eventual identity reveal in TYBW arc.

That aside, how are there people who don't like Orihime? She's literally the most wholesome, funny, cute, and precious character. And if anything, this arc just shows how strong she is and how she shouldn't be underestimated. She is strong and kind like Ichigo, and i see now why they were meant for one another. They compliment each other so well.

I love that we get to see more of her and Chad and how much Ichigo's friends love him and want to help him. In fact, how much everyone wants to help him regain his powers and how much they care for him for what he's done for them. I think that's really powerful and rare. It's one of the many things I love about Bleach. It's nice to see characters feel genuine and grounded and fleshed out. Kubo is really good at writing characters and setting the tone. Overall, he's just a great writer and mangaka, and I think he's criminally underrated.

Anyway, the Fullbringer arc is pretty short compared to SS and HM arcs. I remember thinking it was interesting when i watched the anime but also, it felt wayy longer than it actually is. Honestly, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. It's just slower paced and set up for other things. We all know the worst thing, by far, is the Bount arc, and that's not even in the manga. Thank God, because those fillers were hard to get through.

I was excited to see all the new powers in the Fullbring arc, especially how Ichigo uses the guard but by this second volume Ichigo is right back to using his sword and it's like nothing has changed. The new villain, Tsukishima, has some weird powers that add a new ongoing mystery to the series that our protagonists need to solve before they can fight him on equal ground. All the while Ichigo is training a bunch.

The Fullbring powers are a lot less flashy and leave little room for Tite Kubo to draw his wild character designs that usually propel Bleach forward- the 'training arc' is pretty rushed as usual but we're not actually given a reason why. Ichigo just keeps getting stronger because he needs to get stronger, unlike other fights where training progressed through learning more about his Zanpakuto or through direct mentorship.

I appreciate how much time is given to the characters talking and forming bonds, compared to so many volumes of the Arrancar arc that were just characters describing their powers to each other, but I wish there was some engagement in this arc otherwise. We want Ichigo to get his powers back, and we want him to beat the guy who is hurting his friends, but we don't know what the villain actually wants and the inevitability of Ichigo getting stronger anyways takes the attention away. Other series might have him power up through strategy and new techniques but from the looks of it this volume is him trying to go right back to what he once was.

Purtroppo a me vedere Ichigo sfiatarsi per i combattimenti mi piace assai quindi VOLUMONE!

Ichigo continues his training and first he fights Jackie who has some boots power and its interesting but in that battle he gets his Shinigami powers back and when they are attacked by Tsukishima we learn a little more about him and his ability and their fight is cool and all. Then Ichigo fights him and wow thats something, he is still not upto his level. Then in Yukio's gameworld they continue their training and Ichigo and Ginjou fight while Orihime is there to heal him. Some good stuff goes down between her and Riruka. It seems like we are building to something big from here with this "Fullbringer arc" and its interesting.

The story is proceeding pretty much without any filler parts, which is something I’m liking. Still since the beginning it opened a lot of questions but not many answers have been answered, I hope this changes from the next volume and some mysteries will be unraveled.
The final part with Orihime and Riruka got very emotional I really liked that, and ai wonder what happened in Riruka’s life too. I hope we see in the next volume some backstory for these new characters, and yes Ichigo is right they don’t seem worth of trust.
I really liked the move of the villain in this volume, bold and without compromises.

I just don't know what to say at this point. While the Soul Reapers originally seemed shady, this group seems especially shady! I don't know who has whose best interest at heart and I don't know who to trust at their word. I will give credit that this seems to all be taking place in the real world as opposed to the spirit world, but the characters are purposely not telling important details and making what I think is unrealistic risks with other people's lives. Orihime and Chad get more focus, and I am a fan of how Tite Kubo has been using them in this story. While I have hope still for this arc, I did find myself hoping something more would happen.
