The life of Joseph in the Old Testament is one of adventure, purpose, and great reward, but these come at a great price of being ridiculed, falsely accused, and overcoming a lot of adversity. Joseph had to be a man of integrity, destiny, and perseverance to build the legacy he left. Today, many Christians aren't coming close to accomplishing what Joseph did because they get stuck at two of the most unanswered questions today, "why are we here?" and "what's next after salvation?" In Cows, Crows, & Constellations, Pastor Earl Glisson will guide you through the journey and adventures of Joseph, exploring the reasons why he was so successful and how his life and his principles are so necessary for our lives, today. So get ready to find your purpose and destiny, get ready to achieve a dreamer's reward!
I really enjoyed this book. It’s not a traditional deep-dive theology book or a long-form commentary on Joseph’s life. Instead, it reads more like a collection of short devotional reflections—easy to read a chapter or two at a time and sit with the ideas throughout the day.
One thing I appreciated was that the book stayed biblically grounded. There was nothing that felt theologically off or forced, which unfortunately isn’t always the case with devotional-style writing. The author consistently pointed back to Scripture while also offering thoughtful insights and practical reflections.
Several chapters gave me new things to think about regarding Joseph’s life, suffering, faithfulness, and God’s sovereignty in difficult seasons. My favorite section was the comparison between Joseph and Jesus. I thought that parallel was especially meaningful and well done.
If you’re looking for a quick but encouraging read that helps you reflect more deeply on Joseph’s story and God’s purposes through suffering and redemption, I’d definitely recommend it.
