I recommend this book for the teddy bear scene. It's at the very end and you probably wouldn't understand it without reading the rest of the book. But that one scene made the whole book worth reading.

The story itself is interesting, the threat is unique and the villain was appropriate. You get lots of back story and explanations of the Var, even though you probably wouldn't read this book without reading the previous book - so you'd already know this stuff.

Unfortunately, the development of the relationship relied heavily on tropes that I have little patience for. Others might not mind them, though.

I like this author - her books are always appropriately steamy - but at this point, they're all starting to sound alike.

Oh now this is more like it - offbeat humor...and now I gotta hunt the rest. But wait - book 1 is on my kindle (thank you amazon for the occasional freebies).

So the h is preparing for her vacation when she's interrupted with the news that Human Intelligence Agency requires her services. It's an offer she can't refuse - do the job and get paid vs refuse to do the job, do it anyway, and not get paid. She's sent to the planet, and finds herself attracting the attention of one of the princes. Over the course of the book, she and he have a rollicking good time...intermingled with misunderstandings (one of the other scientists is her brother. Somehow Prince Charming manages to miss that), and an investigation on something she notices that turns out to be a biological weapon.

The H...is a flirt. I can kinda understand why she didn't take him seriously, particularly when he seemed to not take himself too seriously either. I mean; when is the last time you read a book where the H married the h without her knowledge? It happens from time to time in futuristics BUT... I've never read where the H married the h without realizing it himself too. Clueless. LOL! He thought he was broken because a random harem girl couldn't get things to work. Uh no; it's because he mated the h. I would have liked to see another paragraph added to that scene, reflecting his reaction when his brother explained what his problem was.

I'm excited to continue on with the stories of the Var princes.

In this we have Prince Quinn, royal ambassador, and Tori Elliott, a scientist from New Earth who has come to investigate the land after some biochemical weapons were found (book 1) in the caves.

These two had chemistry from the get go. It was evident at the end of book 1, which is mostly where this one started (except the author took us back a bit further to before Tori made it to the planet).

They were unable to stay away from each other, even though Quinn was taught not to fall for one woman, but to have several. He's so adamant that he will never fall victim to love or take a life mate, that is such a great experience to see him have to eat those words.

Overall, the book was filled with love, sexy times, hilarity, and intrigue.

Please give me more.

I really enjoyed this story. I loved the characters in the first book and this book was no different. Quinn and Doctor Elliot had an interesting relationship. They both felt drawn to each other but each tried to deny that fact and said they were only lovers. Both thought the other didn't feel anything for them but just wanted to steamy moments that they had together. I thought the drama and conflict in this story was better than the first but the first book was a little bit more steamy. I can't wait to read the other prince's books and find out who they find as their own mate!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Ahhh, Quinn. Despite his total lack of understanding how teddy bears work, he is decent boyfriend material. He just needs to get his head out of his rear and realize loving one person is a pretty awesome way to live. And Tori needs to learn to take a chance on love. Fortunately they both figure out how to adult with each other and find their happily ever after.

Lords Story (Lords of the Var Book 2) (Kindle Edition)
This was my absolute favorite book of I think both the Draig and Var stories in the Dragon Lords Series by Michelle Pillow. All the books are wonderful, entertaining, exciting and sexy hot romantic but this one had a special mix of everything.
First of all I fell in love with Prince Quinn. He is not only a hunky gorgeous sexy cat shifter, and as the title says "Playful" he is also witty, very confident, a bit cocky, intelligent, sensitive, and loyal underneath his irresistible smile. When we first meet Quinn he is being approached by Tori, the scientist in charge of helping rid his planet of biological weapons. Tori needs to consult with the Var Ambassador, which happens to be a very preoccupied Prince. She finds Quinn in the hallway fooling around with Linzi, one of women belonging to the late kings harem. Quinn's funny teasing of an obviously embarrassed Tori is one of my favorite scenes, it's hilarious, filled with witty banter between the two and sets the tone for the their relationship. Quinn recognizing the obvious attraction between the two is determined to pursue Tori by any means he can (even showing up in her bed unexpectedly). The banter between Tori and Quinn is hysterical, as well as his interpretation of dating customs on earth.

This story is not just all fun and romance, there is a serious threat not only of biological weapons but of the introduction of a deadly moss into the forest and swamp lands. Tori is a scientist who ends up on charge of safely removing the weapon and testing the inhabitants for contamination. While investigating she discovers the deadly moss and her mission turns more dangerous.
Many of the heroines in this series are pretty amazing but Tori is special, she's a scientist and an adventurer facing all kinds of odds to rid planets of dangerous chemicals and intoxicants. What makes her even more unique is she fully embraces her sexuality and her attraction to The incorrigible Var Prince.
Lots of great secondary characters including the rest of the Var family and Tori's crew of assistant scientists.five sexy Var brothers all together make these a great addition to the Dragon Lord series.
Phenomenal fun exciting, smart witty read, hot sexy love scenes and sexual tension and awesome characters. The author's mesmerizing world building is further enhanced giving our imaginations a detailed setting to get happily lost in.
Highly suggest reading the books in order for maximum reading pleasure. I have read this book several times and enjoy it more and more with each re read.

Tori struggled to keep a straight face. Oh, yes, the fearsome teddy bear. Watch out for the button eyes!

THE PLAYFUL PRINCE was such a fun book and the title really describes exactly how Prince Quinn is. Playful indeed! I found myself loving how Quinn couldn't stay away from the stubborn Doctor Tori Eliott. I am loving how these books are turning out, they are quite fun and enjoyable!

"They've sent me children. I asked for scientists and they gave me children.”

To me THE PLAYFUL PRINCE was just a fun and real quick read and also the dialogue was enjoyful and laugh out loud funny as well! There were just some scenes in this book I couldn't help crack a smile at, especially since the heroine is really stubborn and the hero won't stop, until he has her in his clutches! I just love books just like these kind.

“They say love is blind, but in your case I’m assuming it’s also deaf, dumb, and completely brain dead.”

I didn't dig the heroine, Dr. Tori Elliot in this book because she really pissed me off quite a bit. It took Prince Quinn giving Tori way too much attention and lots of seducing before Tori caved and slept with Quinn, and then it's like the end of the book and she still doesn't get with all the jealousy he has been showing, which he was jealous a lot and showed it a lot, that Quinn cared and loved her. I mean do we have to spell it out. I just don't like when the heroine is hard to get and really that slow.

“If you insist, Dr. Elliot,” Quinn whispered hotly, leaning forward to nip her earlobe. “What I do to this body of yours will strictly be professional.”

Prince Quinn was absolutely perfect in my eyes! I love that at the end of the book when they are finally together he lights the fireplace and throws Tori's clothes in the fire so she won't run away the next morning like she always did! Good way to make a woman stay in your bed, she won't run away in no clothes! THE PLAYFUL PRINCE was a cute book and I am really enjoying the series. I can't wait for the next book who is my favorite prince, Falke.

4.5 Stars for the Playful Prince!!

“They say love is blind, but in your case I’m assuming it’s also deaf, dumb, and completely brain dead.”

Prince Quinn, the youngest Var Prince, is also not a fan of finding a life-mate like her brother King Kirill. Dr. Tori Elliot, the head scientist who studies the biological threat on the Var Planet never thought to mix business with pleasure.

Quinn, being the Var ambassador needs to make sure to attend to the scientist's needs never thought to have a strong connection to the gorgeous Dr. Tori.

Dr. Tori, even on her wildest imagination to meet the Prince Quinn the first time, making out with another woman on the hall, never realized to have a strong "lustful" connection with the playful prince.

Quinn, not denying the attraction that he had for Dr. Tori, did everything to make the serious scientist to be her playmate. He even tried to court her (literally) to win the woman's heart.

“Wait, I'm not done.. We didn't have a stuffed bear. And, since I'm not even sure what sort of beast a teddy bear is or where one would find it, I brought you a stuffed baldric instead. It will have to suffice." -Prince Quinn”

This second book did not fail to amaze me. I adore this series of this alpha males who still manages to be passionate and loving. That is why I was hooked with this series. I adore the differences with between the Princes and their journey of finding their lifemates despite the fact that their father thought them not to love. :P

I really liked this second book in the Lords of Var series. I liked the heroine, Tori, and I also liked the hero, Prince Quinn, they were both fun to read about and likeable.
Quinn is exactly like the title says, he is playful, Tori first meets him while he is making out with a member of his father’s former harem. Quinn has the girl held against the wall, but his interest changes the moment he meets Tori. Quinn is like his brothers, they don’t believe in a life mate, they want to have many lovers or mistresses and not be tied down to one woman. Quinn is much sweeter than Kirill, his brother the king from the first book, but just because he is sweeter and more fun doesn’t mean he isn’t as hot or sexy.
Tori is a scientist, she is smart and has her head on her shoulders, she has been charged with finding out what she can about the biological weapon King Attor brought onto the planet. She was looking forward to a long needed vacation when she was forcefully volunteered to lead the team of scientists for the job. The HIA wants her to stay on the planet and do more studies. Tori is instantly attracted to Quinn even though she tries to deny the attraction.
Tori and Quinn seem like opposites, but they are really good together and fun to read about. Like the previous Var book and the Draig books, there is a lot of hot sexy love scenes in this book. I really liked the plot, the sexiness, and the characters, I highly recommend this book.

This is the second book to a series. The first being The Savage King. It is about the second brother of five. King Krill's youngest brother, prince Quinn. His is the Ambassador to the planet. Going from previous books there is a contamination on the planet and in come the scientist. One of whom is a beautiful woman that Quinn has set his sights on. This book deals with him trying to come to terms with wanting one woman for the rest of his life when he grew up with a father who instilled in his sons to have many. One woman made you weak. Well, seeing how happy his brother, the new king, is with his life mate has open his mind and thoughts up to something different. And it leaves him conflicted and makes a good struggle between the two. Dr. Tori Elliot has a job to do and doesn't want or need the distraction that comes with seeing someone while trying to finish the job she came to the planet to do. But upon seeing the Ambassador Quinn, how could she not want that? But sticking to her rigid schedule and him fighting deeper feelings for her, and of course the big bad is still on the loose in this book, it makes for an exciting read! I couldn't put this one down till I was done. They are all pretty short stories but worth the read for sure. And like its first one on my blush meter it got a 9 for sure!

I really enjoyed reading this story because it was playful, witty and all around funny. It lined up where the last book left off and I loved that. Tori was a good heroine because she did what she wanted and Quinn was so much fun because he started out as a playboy just to become a jealous mate. I also liked that we got to know the other brothers a little better. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

There was so much depth to each character, so much detail to the crisis they must avert, the book was never boring! I have to admit, the cultural barriers to be surmounted were often humorous and I will never look at Teddy Bears the same, again.

I liked most of it, but she started willingly ignoring a lot of signs to the point she seemed plain stupid. Seriously, at about 80% Tori’s thinking how she likes hard facts, and how as a scientist she strives to solve problems. Her problem? She didn’t know what he thought, or if he had feelings for her. Seriously? That’s the big, insurmountable hurdle she faces? Really? The one she can’t find a solution to? That made me question her intelligence. And the worst part is she doesn’t get her head out of her ass until her brother calls her on it. Quinn’s not much better, but at least he acknowledges he feels something for her from the beginning, and his behavior was totally understandable considering the way he was raised. Didn’t appreciate the slut shaming other people (both MCs thought badly of secondary characters who were sexually active, even when they do pretty much the same things they shame others for).
The book is very repetitive, with her leaving him without any explanations after sex over and over again, them never talking about feelings, or much else; they practically see each other and start having sex. Not much of a relationship there.
The villain felt very stupid, too, but, judging by the actions of every other character, he had an average intelligence. I rolled my eyes so hard they hurt. That last 20% was exasperating and made me wonder how these characters had managed to survive as long as they had. There were some funny moments, however, and the teddy bear scenes (there’s two of them) made me laugh.

A simply wonderful book, loved the characters and plot

This was a simply amazing read I enjoyed every single moment and found myself to be totally blown away by both the characters and the plot which was so innovative and so cleverly written. Quinn is the youngest in the royals, of the Var Princes and he is quite the character and also the Ambassador which is an important position.

Tori has come to their lands and she is assisting in the safe removal of biological weapons that need to be removed as quickly as possible, when she meets the Prince for the first time she is fairly surprised by him however what she fails to realise is that he has already decided that she is his newest prey and he is determined to catch her no matter what.

There is a great deal of action and interaction between the two main characters and over time as they work together and get to know each other their feelings begin to grow develop in to so much more.

It is obvious that they have fallen in love and even though they have started a fairly intimate relationship she still ensures at the end of the interlude she return to her chambers, this is a situation that Quinn has never encountered.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Prince Quinn, the Var Ambassador, can’t imagine committing to one woman, like his brother King Krill. With so many to choose from, why settle for one. That is until one sexy scientist walks in on him making out with one of the harem girls in the hallway, totally unacceptable behavior to Tori Elliot, HIA scientist. She quickly puts him in his place and leaves. Tori has been sent to make sure the biological weapon their dead father King Attor brought on the planet to wipe out the Draig hasn’t leaked from its container and contaminated anyone. They give her one month and three other scientists to make sure nothing was affected on the planet.

Prince Quinn is intrigued and makes it his mission to flirt with her and shake her up. Somehow the plan backfires and he falls in love. Unschooled in the art of “dating” thanks to his worthless father, Quinn doesn’t understand what is wrong with him or how to deal with his feelings. But when danger comes to the scientists, Quinn will do anything to get Tori back!

I love how the relationship developes between Quinn and Tori . It’s really kind of cute how clueless he is, even with King Krill’s “help”. Really enjoyed the book. Can’t wait for the next one.

I have two words for you.....TEDDY BEARS!!! If you'd like to know the meaning, you gotta buy the book. I won't spoil it for you.
This is book 2 of the Var section in the Qurilixen World & it's Quinn & Tori's book. Quinn is a prince of course and Tori is a scientist with the HIA. Quinn is the proverbial playboy complete with a harem and all. Who could blame him though considering who his father was. I truly despised Attor, and no, I will not call him King, I'm glad he's gone. Anyway, I digress. Tori is on Qurilixen to make sure Attor's "little toy" isn't contaminating the people or planet. Plus she doesn't really take to Quinn's playboy ways. Comically however, the more Quinn tries to flirt and pull Tori in, he develops these "strange & unfamiliar" feelings. He has absolutely no idea how to deal with them.
It's full of hilarity, action, steam, a HEA & last but not least TEDDY BEARS.
If you'd like to start at the beginning of the Var section, The Savage King is book 1. However this could easily be read as a standalone due to enough backstory that you won't be lost. For a laugh out loud read with a would HEA, I recommend this without a doubt

I really enjoyed this one. Tori is a serious, logical scientist, hired to make sure there is no residue left from a biological weapon found on Qurilixen. Quinn is a playboy Var prince who was raised believing that loving only one woman and becoming 'life mated' to her was a sign of weakness. But opposites can and do attract, and there is definitely an attraction between them. But besides the romance heating up, this story has lots of action and excitement. We have a ruthless, angry elder Var noble who is seeing his influence and power draining away with the death of the old king, a potential biological nightmare, Prince Quinn's growing feelings and jealousy over Vitto, and light moments from the Var confusion over Earth dating habits and the mighty teddy bear! If you like fantasy stories with tension, action, mystery, and some laughs along with some steamy moments, be sure to give this one a look!

"Biological weapons didn’t discriminate like people did."

Tori is ready to go on vacation, not take another contract, but Qurilixen recently got a dangerous biological weapon that had been snuck on to their planet found and removed and now there is some "clean up" to be done. Enter Tori and her peers.

Quinn is an Ambassador that takes his work seriously, but he can switch out of work in to devil may care off duty mode and enjoy life, which he does in hilarious style.

I love series that remember what has come before, and recognize actions have consequences, and this delivers on both counts, not just as a Lords of the Car series novel, but also on a larger Qurilixen World level.

Add to that incredibly fun family dynamics and laugh out loud moments and I didn't want to set this aside, to the point I picked up the audio book from the library so I could have some extra "reading" time.

Next in line for a wife is another Var son, Quinn.

He’s a stereotypical playboy who is struck silly by visiting scientist Tori. Tori is a fairly flat character, who fends off Quinn with those cartoon slappy hands for a little while then gives in. Unlike her predecessor, thankfully she isn’t overtly dumb, she’s just boring.

If anything, Quinn is a much better person, but I struggle to see why he put so much effort into chasing Tori around. He also had far more substance than his love interest and put considerably more effort into their relationship *that bear*. He really was playful and cheeky, something that was endearing throughout. You deserve better my friend.

The plot is much better in this story, and there were some sweet little bits I really enjoyed. It’s definitely an up on the first story.

After reading the premise, I knew I wouldn’t care for the male lead being a playboy type, but I liked other books by this author, so I wanted to give this a try. This is a fun story with some cool ideas; I enjoy the alien and mates scenario, the setting is interesting, and I like the bits of action going after the villain. Fun vibe to the story! There’s good steam and some cute sweetness between Tori and Quinn. Quinn’s playboy ways weren’t great; I definitely didn’t need the scene where he’s intimate with someone besides the heroine, and some of his thoughts were just eww. It’s understandable that Tori wouldn’t want to be with him, but they do have good chemistry and passion. I’d say this is a 3.5 rating; rounded up to a 4 because I was entertained the whole read, and I mainly just didn’t care for Quinn’s actions at times.

Jajajaja...

Quinn is it looking for a serious relationship but that's when it seems to always find you. He is a prince and I was always taught that it's a weakness to have only one woman that you should have more than one like a whole harem like his daddy. When Dr. Elliot comes to the planet to make sure there's no more radio active bombs to go off with bio chemicals in them he knows he's in trouble. He's always been a playboy never thought he neededt just one woman. Tori knows that he is a playboy. When she first meets him he was hitting on one of the women in his father's harem. He has to prove to her that she is his one and only and he doesn't want anybody but her.

DNF

Nope. I thought that despite not caring for the first book, I’d like this one because the sample and the concept was interesting. But I’m still hung up on this insta-lust going on in these two books. It really feels cringeworthy how the leading characters behave around each other. I even stepped away for one day and thought I’d get further in the book. Many of my friends have given it a 3 and 4 star reviews so it should have been at least a fair read.

But maybe I’m just not in the mood for these types of storylines? I’ll put it in my DNF for now. Maybe I’ll try to read it at a later date.

title is aptly named

Var Prince Quinn is indeed playful and mischievous however he takes his duty as ambassador very seriously. It’s entertaining and amusing his distraction with the scientist Dr Tori Elliot. Tori is assigned a serious and fatal mission to help the Var people. The Black Crawl is a deadly black moss slowly spreading over the planet that will eventually kill all living creatures unless destroyed. The interaction between characters alone is hilarious and the misinterpretation of a teddy bear is hysterical. I love the happy ending. This author is incredibly amazing with her feel-good stories.

Quinn and Tori's Story . . .

Scientist Dr. Tori Elliot is on a mission to safely remove the biological weapon, deadly black moss infesting the planet and lethal to living things. The Var Prince Quinn is not looking for a serious relationship and enjoys a variety of women for his amusement.

As he falls for her, Quinn does not have any idea about dating, more comfortable being playful. He locks her up in his quarters with no clothes, for example. Although Tori may be attracted to the man, she doesn’t like this cave-man style. Will they communicate and find a way to be together while treating her with respect? And when will they find out about the accidental mating?
