Despite being born into one of the wealthiest families in Manhattan, Agnes Cameron hasn’t had that many good things in her life. At fifty-two, she’s ready to change that. She’s adopting a child and putting her playgirl days behind her.
Enter Penny Lane thirty, vegan, and a wild child who occasionally sleeps in trees. Like her older brother, Penn, she’s a nanny extraordinaire. There isn’t a problem Penny can’t fix with a little elbow grease and creativity. And while she believes in soulmates and the power of love, Penny suspects fate is playing tricks when she's sent to The Killian House and meets her new clients.
Their brothers might not be aware, but Agnes and Penny have…history. Of course, neither wants to be the one to explain why Reid should send a different nanny. Instead, both decide to play it cool for the sake of Agnes’s newly adopted daughter, eight-year-old June.
That proves to be a challenge when the trio heads to the Tucker family cabin in the Catskills for the summer. Sparks fly and love blossoms as Penny learns that she's not who she thinks she is and that Agnes and June just might be her soulmates. But can Penny trust wayward Agnes with her heart? And can Agnes prove she’s ready to put her wild ways behind her and tame her enchanting nanny?
Author of the popular Nannies of New York and Boys of Lake Cliff book series, K Sterling has self-published dozens of books. K. is known for fast-paced romantic thrillers and touching gay romcoms. There might be goosebumps and some gore but there’s always true love and lots of laughter.
Once I saw this was about age-gap, nanny situation, I snapped it up, pre-ordered straight away.
I haven’t followed the previous stories surrounding this stand-alone. There’s a little bit of catching-up needed but not a lot that I got lost while reading this story.
This story was easy, fast-paced, HOT and funny. I enjoyed it like enjoying canapés, light but filling. There’s not much heavy drama but enough to sate my need for a good story.
I like how the author wrote this story. Its fast-paced and resolution came fast. Sometimes a reader needs that kind of writing especially when they’ve just come out of heavy drama books. This was the perfect antidote.
Opposites attract in this sapphic nanny romance. To be honest, this is the only one I’ve read in the series and there’s definitely characters that repeat throughout, but I didn’t find it difficult to follow. There’s some nice spice throughout, even in the couple of flashbacks as our two MCs have had dalliances in the past. There is more than meets the eye in our ‘wealthy’ MC and our ‘poor’ MC acts with more of the bias between their status and not who they actually are. They try to keep it professional but fail miserably since they are both weak for each other and can’t keep their hands (or hearts) to themselves. Minimal angst-Finding love where you least expect it-Rich girl/poor girl-Opposites attract nanny romance that’s a sweet and sexy read!
This was absolutely delightful. So comfy and cute and still managed to be insanely sexy. I loved all of the characters, including the supporting cast, and can’t wait to go back and read the full series to learn more about them! Really hoping for more sapphic romance from this author in the future!
Love sapphic books, too? Let's be friends! Booktok | Twitter
A sweet, funny, fast-paced spicy sapphic age gap romance!
June is an adorable child and Agnes is a great mother. Penny was the perfect addition to their family. It was great to see all the family members and past characters too!
3.5 stars rounded to 4 [ I received a digital arc for an honest review]
The Nannies of New York series by K.Sterling continues with The Enchanting Nanny! A wlw romantic comedy.
Older wealthy Agnes Cameron has decided she wants to start a family of her own, so she adopts a young girl and is assigned wild child of a nanny Penny. Penny, who she had two explosive one-night stands not too long ago. Both women assume they can ignore their chemistry and focus on making young June's transition go smoothly. But a month spent in Penny's small cabin has their physical and emotional connection deepening. While Agnes is ready to hold on and never let go , Penny is more hesitant and all the differences in their lives makes her nervous.
Agnes makes a wonderful mother and she had great natural instincts when it came to June. I saw June as a mini version of Penny with her love of the outdoors. She came alive staying at Penny's cabin, and the whole experience also brought Agnes out of her shell. The three made a great little family unit. On the other side of things, when June isn't around, the intimacy scenes between Agnes and Penny are insanely hot.
Overall, The Enchanting Nanny by K. Sterling is a charming sapphic rom com with an age gap, opposites attract, forced proximity, fishing, jam making, found family, delicious steam and a whole lot of heart.
Fun, heartfelt & steamy. My new favorite of the series!
4.5 ⭐ for The Enchanting Nanny, book 4 of the Nannies of New York series.
At 52, Agnes Cameron has had a lot of things and a lot of lovers in her life, but not many good things and not much that actually made her happy. She's choosing to change that by adopting a little girl, June, from foster care. Unknown to her, Agnes's brother Walker, his brother-in-law Reid and his best friend Penn Tucker, have concocted a surprise to hire Penn's little sister, Penny Lane, as June's nanny - not knowing that Agnes and Penny have already hooked up twice.
I think this is now my favorite of the entire series. The fun, the heartfelt backgrounds, the chemistry and the sense of love and family come together perfectly in this. Reading it felt like a cool cocktail and a cupcake on a summer's day. Perfect holiday/summer read!
In this you'll find: 🌈 Sapphic romcom with spice 🌈 Age gap 🌈 Employer + nanny 🌈 Opposites attract 🌈 Bisexual + Lesbian MCs 🌈 Adoption from foster care 🌈 A precocious darling 8 year old girl 🌈 Death of a parent 🌈 Discussion of death of a spouse & miscarriage from a car accident 🌈 Mention of emotionally abusive parents 🌈 A cabin in the Catskill mountains 🌈 A HEA
3 stars. This is on the lower end of three stars for me but I didn’t hate it enough to give it a two. The writing was good but man this was so boring. Penny and Agnes weren’t that interesting and their romance fell flat for me as I just wasn’t buying the chemistry. I did however love seeing Agnes being a mom to her adopted daughter June. That was precious. Other than that this didn’t move me one way or another and those type of books are always the hardest to review. I’m not interested in any of the other books in this series but if Sterling wrote another sapphic book I’d probably pick it up.
-BIG Age Gab -Rich x hight morals about consumption -Forced proximity -Adoption ---
I really thought this would be my favorites; I was really looking forward to it as the only sapphic book in the series. However, it didn't turn out to be my favorite, there's not an expecific reason for that, it's just as it is, a matter of preference, I guess, also the expectation from the other book.
I gave it a high rating because it made me very happy, it entertained me, made me laugh, and I loved everything about Agnes and June. They connected in such a beautiful way, and I loved seeing it.
I found Penny to be a super interesting character since book three, but I still don't quite understand why she had so many doubts about dating Agnes. Well, I do understand to some extent because it's explained and has a lot to do with the themes of grief that were revisited in book 3, but it only makes me question why she was always fine with her friendship with the rest of her wealthy friends. It's like I get it, but at the same time, I don't.
I liked seeing more about Penny’s mom. We were missing a lot of her perspective. However, I would have loved to see more about her dad, considering it was such a strong topic in book 3.
On Agnes's side, I wasn't expecting them to mention anything about Connor and the triplets, but I loved that they did.
I wish these books were longer; I feel they could offer so much more depth. Not that they feel lacking, because they're not at all—everything is handled very well—but I just want to know more, and I’m left with so many questions.
Among the other books in the series, I think this one has the most spicy scenes, which I wasn't expecting. Something I noticed is that each book has steamy scenes that align really well with each character's personality, which is great, because they’re not all the same and, most importantly, they don’t feel unnecessary.
It was truly lovely. These are books I recommend if you're looking for a lot of romance to relax.
Fabulous Narrative, Amazing Characters, a must read
Rating: 5🌈
Embracing this story is like embracing the all of life’s experiences, wrapped up in one amazing book. You’re going to laugh, breathe in the joys and heartbreak of family life, the memories that bring one feelings of incredible loss and that of deep love. It’s startling in the intimacy of emotions and vibrancy that Sterling is able to bring to the characters, both adults and children, that the reader meets here.
To misquote a famous story, your heart will grow three sizes by the end of your journey with this small family and you will embrace every moment.
It’s one enormous narrative hug and it tops all the books in this fabulous series to date.
I’ve been waiting for this as it’s been hinted at in the previous stories. The vaguest of scenes with the Poppins like nanny Penny Lane and the fabulously rich and beautiful Agnes Cameron. Each has close ties to all the other characters in the series and we’ve seen them countless times throughout other books in various scenarios.
Now they finally get together as Agnes has decided to adopt, after being an important part of her brother’s family and an aunt to his children. We dive in as Agnes arrives at a foster care home and meets the young girl who will become her daughter, June.
I don’t need to say that this is such an emotional moment for them and us as well. It’s done in such a sweet manner, and one that’s allows Agnes to have an intimate moment to let June express herself and then bond over their love for books.
This scene really sets the tone for the story and relationship between Agnes and June. It’s believable, genuine, and heartfelt.
The rest that follows involves Penny Lane arriving as the nanny, a necessity because of the factors at play here. Agnes’ status as a beloved aunt, wealthy woman, and someone who isn’t totally prepared for all the needs that a newly adopted child might have now has Penny Lane there to support them and guide them through as a family.
If only they hadn’t hooked up those several times and now cannot stop thinking about each other.
This story incorporates some amazing elements. Both women end up working through some deep psychological issues and adolescence trauma while giving June the opportunity to have the security and stability she craves for herself. It’s launches a family as they create a new core relationship in the most incredible location, a spot the reader sees so clearly due to Sterling’s beautiful rich descriptions.
This is a very sexy lesbian love story with a great HEA, their chemistry is off the charts and their relationship is layered with their own unique personalities and issues to overcome.
And June. I absolutely love June. She’s a young girl I recognize so much. The growth K Sterling writes into her from the moment she’s seen in the backyard of the foster home to the girl at the end of the book, we understand and cherish her journey.
Books like this almost should be the series finale because they are so well written, so beautifully nuanced in their narrative that any book that follows will seem faded by comparison.
It’s hard to say goodbye to “the new queens of Manhattan “ but I’m sure I’ll be revisiting them again soon.
Until then, I’m absolutely recommending this book and the series. Totally fabulous!
Plus that cover? It’s Penny Lane and Agnes all the way! Outstanding!
Nannies of New York : - [x] The Last Nanny In Manhattan #1 - [x] Giles Ashby Needs A Nanny #2 - [x] The Handy Nanny #3 - [x] The Enchanting Nanny #4 - [ ] The Nanny with The Nice List #5 - Nov 14,2023
After really enjoying the first three books in this series, there was something about The Enchanting Nanny that just didn’t work for me and I really wish it had.
Penny Tucker and Agnes Cameron have run into each other a few times over the years thanks to their brothers and despite their many stark differences, they have a chemistry that they can’t avoid. When Agnes adopts June, Penny is sent to her to be June’s nanny and help Agnes adjust to parenthood. The forced proximity and fish out of water plotlines in this one were strong, as they all spent the summer living in the Tucker’s tiny, rustic Catskills cabin.
Their relationship was just okay for me, even with June involved. I never felt any deep connection with either of them and found myself wanting more. They spend so much time in this story avoiding having a real conversation that it was starting to drive me insane. Agnes is a product of her spoiled upbringing but seeing that play out at the cabin didn’t really endear me to her as a character, it made me question why she thought she could do the things that she did (like the bikini + Louboutins to walk down a hill - why?!). And Penny’s quirkiness was cute in small doses in the other stories, but it was a little overwhelming. Her insistence on being just like her mother and then her existential crisis while at the cabin because of that just didn’t sit well with me. June felt like a bit of a plot device to drive the story forward and definitely wasn’t as much a part of the story as I expected.
Overall this one was a miss for me, but I encourage you to give it a shot if you’re a fan of the Nannies of New York. I am really looking forward to Dash and Gavin’s story next - all the little hints dropped throughout this book have me intrigued.
The Enchanting Nanny has some of my favourite tropes: Single Parent, Age gap, Cute kid, but it was a miss for me. Overall, it was an okay read and that was mainly down to June for me.
Grouses: 1. So boring, like I dunno what the vibe should've been but it didn’t vibe with me. 2. The age gap was big yo. 3. Who describes shoe heels in millimeters (mm)?! 4. Sometimes Agnes is being serious and Penny plays too much, like girl come on you’re an adult. 5. I wish there was a clearer distinction when they were having flashbacks. 6. I’m not saying billionaires are natural, but Penny bashing rich people at every turn was a big turn off for me. Anyway, not a rich people apologist, 7. “Everyone’s going to think I sold out” you’re a grown adult Penny stfu. 8.
But if you’re looking for a Contemporary Romance with an Age Gap and Family Relationships that plays up the Rich girl/Poor girl and Parent/Caregiver archetypes then I’d definitely give this one a try.
3.5 🌟 This had more smut than any of the books so far and it didn’t take away from the story per say but I also felt like more work should’ve been put into the romance between Agnes and penny because the “I love you” despite being said after a reasonable time-line still for some reason felt rushed to me. I think the star of the show in these books is the found family. By the stars I love them. Agnes adopts little June as a first step in getting her life together as a 52 yr old woman and falls in love with a woman in her late twenties (the nanny) and you kind of just see Agnes and June fall in love with their adopted little girl. That shit will always bring tears to my eyes + the little crumbs for future couples/ existing couples and omg! The meddling brothers and sisters!😂😭 Haha I will miss the fuck out of these characters when I’m done!
I have a confession to make. I don't usually read books about women in love because I prefer M/M, but when you have one written by Author K. Sterling and when the book is about Penny Lane, who we met previously, there is no doubt I will be reading it. This story is fun, funny, quirky, interesting and just wonderful reading. Agnes and Penny could not be more different and yet you just can't predict the future. The women are complex gorgeous loving beings and June is an adorable child you just need to get to know. There is so much love and goodness it is a story you just hate that it has to end.
Aggie, Penny and June brought a big smile to my face the whole time.
I’ve been enamored with this series since book one, and I was pretty curious about Penny Lane and Agatha’s journey to happiness since those two were scene stealers every time they were on a chapter. I’m happy to report that they didn’t disappoint, it was really cool to read about them becoming a family, June was perfect for them in every way and I love how easily it was for her to trust the love Aggie and Penny were giving her (I did tear up a little reading about June saving for those Percy Jackson books).
This was such a fun and sweet book, zero angst and a guaranteed HEA.
I usually jump into every K. Sterling book without hesitation...this one was different because the main characters were females...I'm not sexist by any stretch of the imagination, but MM romances are my jam...well Ms. K. Sterling has opened my eyes to FF romance...yes, it helped that the side characters were from previous "Nannies of New York" books; but Penny Lane and Agnes love story was filled with the magical word wizardry that is truly K. Sterling and much to my surprise did not interrupt the flow of the series... Well done, Ms. Sterling!
Sapphic age-gap single mom boss/employee(nanny) opposites attract.
HAWT
Penny & Agnes were both in the background throughout the series as the sisters of 2 previous MMCs and I was so excited for the story - it lived up to my internal hype 🙌🏽
I loved the dynamics between Agnes and Penny, the way their attraction was built and the tension tuned. I loved that they worked through their relationship not only with each other, but also with June. I loved that it got the heart beating and the nether regions squeeing as they finally let their passion fly. I loved how they built respect and made their relationship a safe place for not only them, but also for June. I love that they saw each others flaws and only saw perfection.
A sexy sapphic story, underpinned and cemented by love 🩷🩷
I came into this book not knowing or reading the others in the Nannies series which made me a bit confused at times. I also found the adoption process incredibly unrealistic and it almost made me DNF. But I’m a sucker for a sapphic age gap. In the end, I just let myself enjoy the romance. A sweet story overall.
Agnes Cameron is fifty-two and from one of the wealthiest families in Manhattan. She is ready to improve her life, put her playgirl ways behind her and adopt a child. Thirty-year-old Penny Lane Tucker is a wild child vegan and a nanny extraordinaire. Penny believes in soulmates and the power of love, and suspects fate is playing tricks when she's sent to The Killian House and meets her new clients. Penny and Agnes have a shared history but decide to play it cool for the sake of eight-year-old June. Then the trio heads to the Tucker family cabin in the Catskills for the summer. Sparks fly and love blossoms as Penny learns that she's not who she thinks she is and that Agnes and June might be her soulmates. But can Penny trust wayward Agnes with her heart? And can Agnes prove she’s ready to put her wild ways behind her and tame her enchanting nanny?
This was a sweet story as Agnes and Penny got their family with the addition of June and the HEA that they deserved. I did find some of the angst suffered by Agnes and Penny to be rather daft at times and I did find such confident women suffering that many self-doubts odd. Easy to read and feel. This was an FF story with mature content.
🌶️Medium/High Spice🌶️ If you are looking for a sweet meaningful story of a new mom trying to figure out how to be a mom and how to connect with her child with the help of her lovely nanny that is both sweet and emotional while also being sexy and fun this is the book for you. The spice in this book is top tier and had me reaching for my water (I’m still thinking about when Penny said “I would ride your face right now and until my knees were bleeding if I could.” and all the face riding that did occur) but it also had my heart squeezing from them growing together as a family. Penny learning that two things can be true at one time that she can stand by her morals while also loving Agnes who seems to be everything Penny isn’t and is a bit against and that even though people seem on way on the outside or to the outside world that that might now be who they truly are. Just a wonderful book I loved every minute of it was sweet sexy and just an amazing story of becoming a family. This is my first K. Sterling but it won’t be my last.
When I say this was amazing, I pinky promise that it is not a joke! I mean after all, who doesn’t love a soft and comfy sapphic romance?
Here we see some familiar faces finally getting their happily ever after—Agnes and Penny. At the start of the book, we find our darling Agnes finding her way into establishing her roots as a mother to the young June. The journey of starting her motherly journey starts positively, and takes a quirky turn with the assigned nanny for June is Penny—a woman with quite the past with Agnes. Agnes is a woman of class and prestige with so much depth inside her character invites you from the first meet. Penny was a beautiful character filled of vegan joy and light. Their story was so heartfelt and swoony that you’ll be sucked in through the whole journey!
I loved the series since the first read, and the story between these two just fulfilled my romantic heart.
I honestly wasn't a huge fan of Penny in the previous books, but since I loved Agnes I thought maybe it would balance out. What it ended up being was a dull read with two characters that never really felt compatible. Agnes acted ridiculous and honestly out of character half the time. The bikini and walking down a hill in high-heeled shoes and bikini scene was unbelievable. She may have been out of touch with the common folk, but she was an intelligent woman with common sense. And Penny was needlessly flighty and giggly. Even when Agnes tried to be serious, Penny tended to be so far in the opposite direction I wanted to throw the book. A lot of the story almost seemed like a repeat of the previous book with Morris and Penn--close proximity, class difference, different relationship goals, one all natural while the other is into material things. Honestly, the only saving grace for this story was June.
I enjoyed this story and I liked seeing more of Penny and Agnes and seeing them develop into main characters. I liked that they were different to each other but it shows not to judge a book by its cover and that they both changed to accommodate the other without losing who they were. June was precious, I liked that she came out of her shell as well. (Not sure how the American adoption system works but it felt strange that you can adopt a child after meeting them once and then there wasn't really much follow up or support from social services?) The transition of June, Agnes and Penny into a family happened very quickly with very few obstacles which was nice but did feel very unrealistic.
The setting of a cabin in the Catskills was cute and nicely described and I liked the side characters that came with this new setting.
Some twists and turns but generally pretty drama free.
Okay, I love the series, I love the themes, but this book was just... Not for me I think. I loved the characters, I loved June and Agnes (Walker's sister from the first book) and how they just fit with Penny (Penn's sister from the previous book in this series). But I have the feeling that everything goes too fast! Like, everything happens in a month!? It is a lot of things to do and work through in a month. It felt a bit rushed to me and also there are too many feet for my taste in the sex scenes (not kinky, I just don't like feet and don't find them interesting)
stopped reading at around 60% because it felt sloppy?? there was no time put into building tension or a foundation for the relationships between people; it all just happened and we weren't supposed to question it. all of the romantic scenes between agnes and penny were rushed and basically told to us rather than described so we could feely a part of it. ALSO penny was saying some terrible things to agnes and we were expected to forgive her because she didn't realize it would be hurtful but she's also described as an almost unbelievably intuitive nanny? make it make sense pls
Agnes Cameron is ready to be a mom so of course with the meddling intervention of her brother, Penn and her boss Reid, she gets Penny to help with the transition of little June moving in. Penny can’t be what Agnes must want, she’s too wild, feral. Agnes can’t completely forgo her extravagant lifestyle but after a summer at the lake, these two know they’d give anything to make this new little family work. Sweet book.
A very sweet, fun and hot read. This was my first FF read. I greatly enjoyed it. Penny and Agnes are so opposite but have great chemisrty. Thanks for a new opportunity to read something new for me K. Sterling
Just really hard to read... both characters made their entire personalities about either being filthy rich or super anti-rich, and there were so many plot twists late in the novel that it just threw everything off course.
