Killing children with no warning!!
Shame, shame, I would never have even started this book if I had known the author planned on killing children! I only made it through chapter 2, but there is no way I will read any more of this. Killing children is NOT entertainment, for normal people anyway.

Excellent!
This book surprised me. The magic system was very interesting. The plot was well paced. Great battles with the promise of more to come in the next book in the series. Hopefully it is soon to come.

FANTASTIC FANTASY
Well written as well as well proofed ... character development clean and distinctive with strong individual characteristics.
Storyline carries the reader throughout the text ... making the book very hard to put down.
My compliments to DB King and Shawn Whitney ... keep them coming ... I will be looking for more.

Gritty, a bit dark, being a war time. Excellent deep characters with real personality and motives. Vivid world building with its culture, history, gods demons, monsters, and magics. Luckiky for me this random library find has the next book in the series available for check out just as I've finished it.

So disappointing
If you like self mutilation and inconsistent story lines, this book is for you. Towards the end the book reads like a bumpy road as the authors strive to bring this book to a close. I'm sad to have read this book as I will never get those moments back

Excellent. Really different.
What a great book. I had read hundreds of fantasy books but this really hooked me with its mix of demons , bone magic and the fall of a kingdom. Well worth a read. Looking forward to starting next in series.

A very good concept, a bit on the gory side. I wouldn't suggest that you read it before you eat it could ruin your meal. Zhe was a good character, as were the others.

loved the new rules of magic
The authors did a wonderful job of building a world using a new form of magic with characters that come to life through our imagination. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Hooked from the start!
I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started this book but I'm glad I read it. Hooked from the first chapter the characters and the world building was great. Very good read!

Had the bones of a good story there…. But the story felt a little contrived. More like the cast was people being moved as opposed to moving on their own. Decent. Just not for me.

Ok book
I kinda liked it but the MC got really stupid after he found his friend and it went down hill from there ,instead of rushing thru the gate he told his enemy that he was a bone mage just not bright on the writer part

Lost Mages book 1
Many places traveled with a lot of cultures, people, & Much mythology coming alive here and the stories pull it all together. A wild ride as well. I'm looking forward to the next book.

I quite enjoyed this book, but it is pretty dark. The characters are well done, and the story moves along pretty well.

Too much description without enough action. I like the story but feel it needs to speed up. Although I will say what is being described is cool. I just want to go faster!

The characters are fully developed. Their magics are unusual. The plot is great. Can't wait to see what the twice born son is all about.

I liked the characters. They were very diverse & except for Zhe not very nice people. However underneath their broken exteriors they had good hearts

I know that other readers will love this book. The story was too bleak for me. It's not a fantasy world I want to escape too. I can see how others will like the story, but it wasn't for me.
