This open, heartfelt and poignant account of one man’s struggle against addiction versus the power of God’s love is just remarkable!

This heartbreaking, poignant and truth-drawing religious autobiography is a book with clear inner messages, which are expressed so boldly and candidly. I was so drawn into Steve’s honest personal account of his struggles with addiction and how God’s love in essence saved him, which I ended up in tears by page 151 as it had affected me so. Totally inspirational and something that I would highly recommend to all who are suffering from some kind of moral addiction (that could be drugs, crime, food, violence ect. Anything) as well as to those who are searching for meaning within their lives and want to understand the power of God’s love. One does not have to be perfect for God is forgiving and in this emotive book, Steve comes to realize that it is not God’s forgiveness but his own that is the first step to redemption and salvation.

Readers will be able to connect with Steve’s journey, not necessarily due to a crime addiction but to his expressed feelings at the time or a specific event that reminds us all that no one is ever faultless nor are our lives without greed, jealousy and selfishness. Steve steals from his family at a young age and over the course of his childhood this becomes a more frequent occurrence, as he soon is spiraling downwards in a cycle of crime as he becomes a teenager. He is a broken-hearted child whose anger and hatred runs so deep that he becomes ‘addicted’ to crime, thus after getting caught he spends twenty-four years in prison. The catalyst for change is when Steve witnesses his friend becoming a Christian, and watching how it alters and changes his future for the better. As Steve turns to God for guidance, love and help his broken heart is mended and his soul cleansed for it is then that he realizes the power of God’s love so that he can change his life…

This powerful story about one man’s journey is just so thought-provoking, and as a Christian myself it really did touch my heart as I contemplated on my own life and why I had chosen to walk through life with God by my side. Behind any moral corruption, whatever it may be (from stealing to just being selfish towards others) is a root cause and with Steve is was the fact that he was missing having that father figure in his life; a role model who could show him right from wrong, who could guide him and love him unconditionally. Steve learns that this can also be found in God and with the guidance of religious teaching; he is then able to make great changes in his life for the better. No one is beyond forgiveness, regardless of your sins, as God is there for us ALL. This is a book that I urge you to read and which I feel is so brave, inspirational and something that stays with you afterwards. Just outstanding!
