I hope readers will like this!

It is not a long story, though.
It is a 17,000-word novella.
Takes about an hour to read (or two at the most.)
(August 11, 2011)

Please note: this story was written for YA readers. It’s just for fun and won’t win any literary awards. It’s a very casual read written in a teen voice.

It’s grammatically casual as well and if that kind of writing bugs you then you probably won’t like this story. Amazon has a “Look Inside the book” on their webpage. I always use that before I buy a book. Probably you should check it out before you buy mine. You know, just to be safe. (Er, not stuck with a book you don't like.)

I enjoyed writing the story.
I hope you like it!!!

I just hate cheaters!
I hate it when a guy thinks he can do whatever he wants behind his girlfriend’s back just because he knows she loves him and would be able to forgive him.
I hate guys who take advantage.
Why am I saying all these things?
Let me explain.

Zoey’s boyfriend kissed someone else behind her back and now Finn (Zoey’s boyfriend) gave her a “Free Pass”.
Free pass to kiss anyone she liked so that it would ease him of someone of his guilt on what happened. (I mean seriously?)
Zoey being the good girlfriend that she was didn’t take the Free Pass despite her attraction to Finn’s best friend Riley who she wanted to kiss despite telling herself repeatedly not to think about it.

Here’s the thing, I kind of love and hated this book.
I liked it because it was cute and sweet.
I hated it because it was short.
I liked how the story developed but I think I would have liked it better if Zoey hasn’t been so accusing on the first few pages or no actually the whole book.
She has accused Riley of hating her a lot.
My gosh! It was irritating.
Zoey whines a lot and I didn’t like that.
She was a bit of a tease but couldn’t stand up for it.
Not really a Zoey fan but it was different thing for Riley.
I L.O.V.E Riley!
Ommmiiigoooshhh.
Totally swoon-worthy!
He was a player but when he likes someone then well he just gives everything.
And I loved the fact that he was good with kids.
Then there is Finn.
What do I have to say to him?
Dhfaiopgoa biopdg haperguaer
* I want to punch his freaking face until I break all his facial bones!*
What a Loser!

Anyways, this book was very short and sweet.
I liked it but not that much.
Hope there was more to it though.
A little disappointed but still good.

Will I be reading more of Ms. Mark’s novellas?

I will be definitely! :)

I liked the uniqueness of how she writes and the story that she makes.

I give it 3 stars!

This was a cute book. Not mind blowing, but fun. I thought it was really cute and I kind of got a crush on Riley as I read along. He was really sweet and mature. Actually, he was super-duper mature. His dad left him in charge of his restaurant for part of the summer while he was away. His dad had Riley be "The Boss." I'd love to have a boss like that, totally swoon-worthy! I think all teen girls would love this book and can totally afford it!!! It only costs a buck! ☺

However, this book is not a full length novel. It's a "novella". Keep that in mind because I guarantee you'll want it to go on longer. Not that the ending isn't totally sweet. I think it is almost perfect how Ms. Marks ended it--but you'll wish it was longer. But hey, again, it was only a buck and nothing is left unfinished. It's paced awesome that way, short and sweet, but it ends before you are ready. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to curl up and read an entire book in an hour or two.

Ms. Marks’ writing voice may not be for everyone. I like it, but I’m young. ☺ I’m even more young at heart. So is Ms. Marks’ writing style. Maybe you should read the “Look Inside The Book” on Amazon and see if you like her kind of writing before you spend your whole dollar.☺ That’s what I did. That’s how I knew I would like her writing. It’s not “literary.” It’s young and cute and I’m quite sure she intends it to be that way, not at all serious and formal. Her writing is fun and flirty and I’m pretty sure that’s the point. She’s writing about a teen and it’s like she “is” the teen you are reading about. I think she does that on purpose. I like it. You may not. So, as I suggested, check the “Look Inside the Book” on Amazon if you are worried about wasting a dollar or Kindle space or whatever.

I give Fall For Me five stars and Ms. Marks a big high-five. ☺

So sweet!!! I really, really liked this book. It was only $.99. So, I thought it couldn't be that good, but I REALLY liked it a LOT. And, yeah, it was only $.99. However, it only took me--at the most--an hour-and-a-half to read. 90 minutes!!! But then that is almost like a penny a minute, so that is dang awesome.

Especially because the book is really good. And sometimes it's nice to have a nice short book. Especially when it is romantic and you are excited to see how everything will turn out (and it turned out exactly how I hoped it would!).

The story is about seventeen year-old Zoey that is forced to work at her boyfriend’s bf’s family-owned restaurant. She doesn’t like working there because her co-workers are jealous of her because they think she gets special treatment from Riley, the boss’s son who is in charge of the restaurant while his dad is away. However, Zoey doesn’t see it as “special treatment.” All she knows is: Riley avoids her. What she doesn’t know is: Riley avoids her because he wants her. Only Riley knows he can’t have Zoey because she is dating his best friend, so he keeps his distance.

However, things change when Zoey’s boyfriend, Finn, cheats on her. Things get good!

I highly recommend this book to any teens or adults that want a fun, quick, romantic read. (Really, really quick, as in an hour.)

I think there should be a sequel! :)

Update: I have been informed by the author (in an unprofessional manner) that this book is not self-published.

Update 2: The author has apologized for her email, which is appreciated.

I read a lot of self-published work (oh, my cheap-Kindle-book-buying addiction!) so I'm used to the grammatical errors and typos found so frequently in works like these. However, the writing in this novella felt very choppy to the point of making it almost unreadable. Obviously, it's okay to have incomplete sentences for impact, but this writing technique was so overused that the entire book felt like a mash up of two- and three-word blunt partial sentences. It was hard to feel a flow in the writing with such choppiness.

And what was that ending??? It was so abrupt! After such build up, I was hoping for a bit more resolution.

I loved this book.

It is very romantic and sweet and I could relate to the hurt and betrayal Zoey felt toward her boyfriend after he cheated on her and how that might make her feel differently toward their relationship, especially when hot Riley is so incredibly sweet to her. She was really torn between the two guys—and it was very realistic, I thought.

Super romantic story that made me go awww.

I recommend this story to YA readers that go for the romance and want a quick, light read.

It only takes about an hour to read though!!!!!

Fall For Me by Melanie Marks sounded like a tempting and cute read. The “Free Pass” idea walks a fine line between sleazy and hot, but this story didn’t deliver on either side of the line.

This story had some cute moments, but it never builds off of them. We never really get to know any of the characters too deeply. I did feel for Riley a bit—the tortured best friend who adored Zoey from afar. They had some sparks together, but again it never progressed. The readers needed more time with them together, talking, and flirting to really begin to see why he liked her and why she should fall for him. Instead we got a lot of avoiding each other, staring, and running away. They had potential to be a hot couple, but in the end they will leave you unsatisfied.

The ending just slapped me right in the face! What? Nooooo! That’s it?

I've read this book in like 2h, yeah,, It's a really short story,, LoL

The story is cute and sweet, full review yet to come

description

Review 11/06/2011

The Plot - It's simple and cute. Girl has a boyfriend. Boyfriend does stupid stuff. Boyfriend gives a free card to girlfriend so he can feel better about himself. Girlfriend likes cute guy (not her boyfriend) and don't know what to do.

The Characters - Zoey is a teenager that has to deal with a terrible lost and we see that when she talk and thinks. She is very center and don't act on instinct. She is a lot stronger than I will ever be, really. Riley is the cutes ever and she doesn't fall all over him. I would melt like a popsicle around him. Finn, well, he is the boyfriend and all but I kept forgetting him while I was reading, except when I was really pissed off at him. He does really stupid stuff.

The Writing - I luv first person point of view and this is no news for those who have read any of mine reviews. I like her way of writing. Not over detailed and kipping to the good stuff.

Considerations - The story is really sweet and super duper cute. The dialog makes me smile and Riley has this wit that makes me want to kiss him on the spot. I was really cot up in the plot, but then ,,it was over. Ok, ok,, the end was satisfactory, but was too abrupt. I would like to have more development in it. Nevertheless, the story is good and I still recommend it.

****

Considerações - A estória é realmente doce e super ultra fofa.

This book was so good and it only cost a dollar! It was so romantic and sweet and I loved the characters. Especially Riley! Hot, sexy, sweet Riley. I wish I knew a guy like him! And that he looked at me the way he looks at Zoey. Swoon! I give it five stars and think you should all read it. And did I mention it only costs a dollar????

Like. Ohmigosh, I. guess. I. will! Write -- a review.

The idea behind the story was cute and there were moments when I really loved the story, but the greatness of the idea got lost in execution. I'd say this is more like 2.5 stars with two major complaints.

1-As other reviewers have mentioned, the gratuitous use of commas, hyphens and PERIODS (LIKE, for.crying.out.loud! - whatever.) were so distracting and really made it hard to read. Not to mention short, incomplete sentences abound. If I read this without knowing where it came from, I'd guess I was reading a stream of consciousness piece written by a 16 year old. But, like, ohmigosh! Maybe that's how it's supposed to be?? I do appreciate the overuse of periods, hyphens, and incomplete sentences for added emphasis sometimes, like a fine seasoning - USED SPARINGLY. But this was like food that has been overseasoned and is inedible. Hello, editor??

2-The ending. Bleh. I read the entire story for the kiss between Zoey and Riley (as I believe most readers probably do). Readers of this type of "literature" need a little bit more wrap up than, "Then they kissed. The end." If there hadn't been plenty of steam in other scenes in the book, I'd think maybe the author was trying to keep it squeaky clean. Okay, I might understand that. BUT the story had plenty of heat in other places (Zoey wanting to jump Riley and lick his neck, references to needing a cold shower and more) So basically the ending was a total flop and fizzle. It's like making a 7-layer cake for a wedding and not frosting it. Come on!! Where's the sugar?

Now my two beefs aside, it was only .99, right? So I'm learning to expect less. And I probably should not have read this on the heels of Native Star, a perfect, shining example of beautiful prose from a debut author. I consider myself to be pretty well-read in the YA genre and cheap-kindle-reads and this one - at least for me - was a flop. I'll give Ms. Marks one more chance before I add her to my list of authors who aren't for me.

I really enjoyed this story. It was fun yet realistic, sweet yet steamy. The steam didn’t come from sleazy stuff though. It was just flirty; full of wanting and yearning. Absolutely no sex.

It's YA, costs .99 cents, and only takes about an hour to read.

The story is about Zoey caught between her long time boyfriend, Finn, and Finn’s hot, sweet best friend, Riley.

Summary from the book:

When Zoey’s long-time boyfriend, Finn, cheats on her—kissing a girl he “just can’t resist”—he gives Zoey a “Free Pass,” telling her she can kiss any guy she wants. Finn is so cocky and sure of their relationship that the arrangement seems perfect. He’s not worried Zoey will fall for another guy, and he’s itching to get rid of his feelings of guilt.

But the thing is, Zoey knows exactly who she wants to kiss—longs to kiss— Finn’s best friend, Riley. But, she wants the kiss too much. She knows that. So, she resists the “Free Pass.” Still, she’s pushed into it when Finn loses a bet to Riley, and Riley wants his payment—a kiss from Zoey.

The rest of my review is slightly a spoiler, but not really. But maybe you shouldn't read it if you want to get the full impact of the story. So, don't read any further if you want the full impact.

My favorite quote from the book:

“What, you mean if my true love ever comes along?” His lips quirked. “She did, Jones. Just unfortunately, my best friend saw her first.”

Swoon!!!!

I fell in love with Riley right there. Okay, I loved him before that. I loved him through the whole book, but right there, LOVE!!!!

The end to me was kind of abrupt, but still, it made me smile and made me feel warm inside and it was a happy ending—they fell for each other!

Finally, FINALLY!!! They kiss.

Finally!!!!

Fall For Me is a fast, flirty, fun read.
Say that 5 times fast!

Melanie Marks delivers another adorable short story! I am really enjoying her work and am looking forward to reading more. Fall For Me is a light, young adult novel. I read it under an hour! Plus, it's not expensive, only $0.99 on Amazon Kindle.

Honestly, I thought the material was there for this to have been a full-length novel. Marks could have revealed more on the death of Jones’s father, Finn and Riley’s band, Riley and Ava’s relationship, Finn’s misdeeds, and the dynamics between Finn, Riley and Jones over the past couple of years. I liked this story, but it made me want even more! Which isn't a bad thing!

I gave Fall For Me by Melanie Marks 3 STARS! I recommend this story to young adults who are in the mood for something short and light that will keep you hoping until the very last page.

I can't say that I really enjoyed this. The part at the start really annoyed me, as it was basically just "He doesn't like me" - "yes he does" - "no he doesn't" it was really really irritating.

The "free pass" thing also annoyed me. If you cheat on someone, you can't expect to make it all okay by saying that they have a free pass to kiss whoever they want.

Overall, not an enjoyable read. Really hope the next one is better.

Cute story! I really liked the characters (especially Riley) and found myself getting wrapped up in the love filled drama. This is not a full length novel, more like a long short story--a novella. Only cost a buck! So good! And the ending was the kind that makes you smile and feel good.

I really enjoyed this book a lot. The chemistry between Jones and Riley was smokin. Plus there was Riley with his smoldering eyes that were always on Jones just waiting, hoping. Some of the scenes between them were so HOT! (But there was no sex or anything like that. It was a very clean fun read with a lot of flirty, steamy stuff, but no sex or swearing or anything.)

Riley was just the perfect guy expect he was following the bro code which was nice for his best friend, Finn, but is never good for the girl! Finn was not a good boyfriend to Jones anymore and kept leading her on and lying to her. It seemed obvious she should dump him, only he was a good liar and I've had guys like that in my life--they lie and do it good and make you feel bad that you questioned them!

Riley was so sweet, always doing whatever Jones asked and avoiding her because he was doing that bro code thing and didn't want to interfere with his best friend's relationship because Jones and Finn had been together so long. But he loved her and wanted her and would have been way better for her and he knew it. So, finally when he had the chance he took it and I loved it!

I love happy endings and I love anticipating the happy ending and I was squirming waiting for it! Yes, the book had me squirming! I do feel I should warn readers the book is short--takes about an hour to read and the end is ABRUPT, but it's good and I recommend this book and it's only a dollar!

I give this book five stars and recommend it ... just remember about the ending and don't say I didn't warn you! It's a great ending, but you want the book to go on and you'll probably be frustrated that it doesn't. I was! But like I said, I'm still giving it five stars and recommending it. So there, people!

This book took me 2-3 hours to read it.. but its a good book. how could Finn cheat on Jones like that, first he kissed Beanca by kissing her in the pizzeria, she was teasing him saying that he only have kissed Jones before, Beanca though that Jones wont mind but she did! of course she would! Finn should have though of how much Jones loved him, with all the "i love you" "please forgive me" is not worth anything because he ended up cheating on Jones again at the end of the story and Riley Finn's best friend felt bad but didn't want to speak up that he was cheating on her. Riley loves Jones even though they never went out. I felt bad for Jones because Finn made a bet that if he wins the game poll, Riley will have to buy him a new Guitar, and if Riley win Jones will have to go out with him and use her "free kiss pass" (Since Finn kissed Beanca he felt guilty so he said that to make him NON- guilty Jones will have to kiss someone other boy) I am clad that Jones got what she wanted, i was sure that she liked or loved Riley more did she "love" Finn because she never heard that Riley ever cheated on a girl so it wasn't possible. But at the end of the story Riley kissed Jones and they were both together. THE END.

This was a cute novella. I enjoy novella's because they are short and sweet and you can finish them very quickly. But, I don't like them because I always want more. More from the characters, the story, just everything. I liked it a lot, but the ending made me really want to read more. I don't want to leave it up to my imagination. I want to know what happened!

If you're in the mood for something cute, then this will be just your thing. I was rooting for Riley and Zoey the whole time! I think I'd like to get to know Riley better. ;)

Quote:
"It's so hot int he kitchen. I'm dying."
Riley flinched his jaw, gazing from my sweaty tank top, back to my legs, then up to my eyes. "Do you really want to play this card?"
My stomach dropped. "What card?"

Short and sweet, of course Zoey was just dumb to stay with her boyfriend with all the bull shit he was doing to her and behind her back. Riley was just to cute with his smoldering eyes for Zoey although I agree Riley should have told her straight up her boyfriend was cheating on her but hey guys always stick up for eachother.

I'd give this book a 2.5 rating if it were possible. Not saying that it was all that bad but it lived up to it's $0.99. I guess that's why some books cost more than others.:/

This book was really short, I practically read it in half an hour, not that I was timing myself but I guess that's a good estimate. I liked the way the main character expressed herself. She pretty much expressed herself like a typical I-don't-know-what-I-want hormonal teenager, she pretty much talked and bought like me. Not that I'm a raving-hormonal teenager, i'm not.LOL. The only problem I had was that she kept repeating herself on how she thought 'Riley' hated hated her. When it was obvious he always avoided her because he pretty much was ready to jump her pants at any given moment eventhough she was taken. And for a girl who thinks this guy hated her so much, she couldn't stop talking or thinking about him and fantasizing about him. It was soooo obvious to everyone around her and she was just so aloof. Another thing I didn't get was she always seemed to be in and mood at work, like somthing happend to her that got her mad. That's how the book pretty much starts off, with her pretty much going ' to hell with everybody!' and I never understood why. Did she not get along with her co-workers, not like the work? Neve really got that. The ending was horrible!!

You expected to see a little more of their relationship but no, they just kiss and BAM!!! The end. I guess you'd expect this kind of writing for $0.99. I know better for next time

So, I thought this was another super cute story by Melanie Marks. Like the last book I read of hers, I wish this one was longer. I thought it’d make a good full length novel, or at least a little longer. Zoey has been with Finn for four years, but recently things have been a little off. Then Finn kisses another girl, feels guilty and tells Zoey she has a free pass to kiss someone else. Kind of a fun premise (although, she should have just dumped Finn’s lame butt when she found out). Zoey secretly has a crush on Finn’s best friend Riley, and wants to use her free pass on him. But doesn’t. I kind of wish she would have used the free pass, although she was smart in knowing it wouldn’t have helped her situation and would have been mean to Riley, since he was crazy about her. I liked this story, Zoey and Riley were fun to read about. It was just too short and underdeveloped. It was pretty plain that Zoey had stronger feelings for Riley and should have broken up with Finn, especially when Finn cheated on her. Whatever, I guess she was just in a comfort zone and too scared to make a change. I thought the ending was VERY rushed and sudden. I wanted more closure with Zoey and Finn. Overall, I did like it and thought it was fun. There are some nice moments between Zoey and Riley and again, I would have liked a longer more developed version of the story.

Content: Clean. One guy gets Zoey drunk, but nothing happens.

No

Like most story stories I like wanted a little more. Although, this book seemed to be complete. Unlike other short stories that take the "understood" connection copout, Marks did not. Riley and Zoey had a lot relationship and character development. Riley was absolutely adorable! And Zoey was super sweet. I really enjoyed this book!

So, I kinda read Melanie marks just because it´s addictive. I hate her writing, I hate her plain characters whom I don´t give a crap about, but I don´t know... something keeps making me want to know what stupid thing is going to happen next. I know her book is going to suck but I want to read it anyway.
