Not bad, but definitely weird and OTT. I’ve never played the game or seen the anime, so I went into this blind and…at first I was bitter I paid full price for it.

After finishing it, I’m still not thrilled I paid full price, but it calmed down a bit and I ended up somewhat enjoying it.

Danging it with faint praise, but I just don’t think this series is for me. Pretty art, hot male leads, but the “plot” is super sketch and having the MC be a human transformed into a sheep, with amnesia is…just plain weird and I didn’t get the humor in it.

It went by too quickly and the demon hotties seem to be interchangeable with them all being OTT. We get to see Mammon a bit more than the others (literally when his clothing falls off, a more sculpted pair of buttocks you won’t find anywhere else than maybe Michaelangelo’s David, but I digress), so he actually grew on me (the TSL marathon was what won me over, too funny!).

Other than that I have no idea who the demon hotties are and how they relate to one another, nor do I really care.

If you play the game/saw the anime and enjoyed it then you would probably enjoy this more than I did.

3, get this from the library rather than spending your money on it, stars.

A comic version of the otome/gacha/rhythm? game by the same name. Please note, I play the game, so my review is a little biased.

The main character (you / your stand in) is a human exchange student to the Royal Academy of Diavolo (RAD) and (in the comic at least) has been turned into a sheep. We don't know how, we don't know why, we don't know how to reverse it, good luck.

But the rest of the story plays out similarly to the game (if a little faster on the pacing). There are seven demon brothers (one for each of the seven deadly sins) with one being absent because he's part of the exchange student program. You have no magic to protect yourself with, so Lucifer assigns Mammon to take care of you so you don't get eaten. But super powerful demons don't take orders from lowly humans... unless you form a pact with them... "One master to rule them all"... See where this is going?

Anyway, the big draw isn't the plot, it's the color-coded demonic eye candy, each with their own rom-com stereotype. Lucifer is highly competent, but prideful. Mammon is a sweet but dumb tsundere. Levi is the gatekeeping jealous otaku. Satan is the smart one with the short temper. Asmodeus is the perfect girl-friend who loves himself a bit too much. Beel is a pure himbo who eats a lot. And Belphie... we'll talk about him later.

This series has 3 volumes.

Funny and cute! Made me laugh with Mammon's shenanigans. I love all the characters and the MC is a human turned into a sheep that can still talk and everything but she doesn't remember who she is. She's an exchange student from the human realm and she is trying to get used to things and make friends with the 7 brothers. They don't make it easy. We also saw Mammon's butt several times which surprised me and then made me laugh. I definitely want to read more.

I am also playing the game and so I am already a fan and might be a little biased.

I honestly feared a little that the story would be totally different and was glad it was actually so close to what happened in the game. I already want to read the next volumes.

I loved the extra that the MC is now a sheep trying to get back to their body and wonder how this will work out in the next volumes. Can't wait to read more.

Over the top, lighthearted, and just the kind of fun read you need after having your heart ripped out by a fantasy book.

A disclaimer: I've seen the anime and play both Obey Me and Obey Me! Nightbringer. The review might be biased. I just needed to lay that out before starting.

Obey Me! The Comic is based on the hit otome game Obey Me! One Master to Rule Them All, which led to the Obey Me! Anime. Obey Me!, as a whole, is about the main characters (you) ending up in the Devildom, where a demon named Diavolo greets you. You are a human exchange student who'll study there for a year. You'll meet and be greeted by seven other students, brothers who are the avatars of the seven deadly sins, and deal with whatever happens between them all.

The manga is similar to the game/anime, except a few characters we meet later in the game are already present, as well as the plot.
While it still follows the exchange student ending up in Devildom and meeting the seven brothers, now the MC ends up as a sheep, trying to figure out how to be human and regain their memories.

I enjoyed how the MC was a sheep with no memories; I also love how everyone still calls the MC human when they technically look like sheep. I know the MC is a human who somehow turned into a sheep, but it amuses me when they say human and then carry the MC around because of being a tiny sheep. The art was beautiful. Ibuki the sheep (the MC/you stand in) was adorable; I want a plushie of them. I love that the manga feels like the game but with more insight into the lessons (what they call the levels/stories in the game).
It might not hit well for those who have never played the game, but for fans of the game, it'll be a treat.

You can see the fan service at work, especially when it comes to Mammon being either half-naked or stripping down to being naked.
The fan service was just there for me; I felt no way of it. I wish there were fewer since it would pop up randomly, but it still didn't ruin too much. Though I will say Beel continues to be a mood for me, so he's my favorite. Yes, the brothers are stereotypical rom-com tropes, but at least in the game, it doesn't follow the typical formula.
I don't know if the manga will follow the same backstory as the muses, but I hope it does. They are so much more than typical stereotypes.

I recommend it if you are a fan of the game and anime. If not, this one might not be your cup of tea, especially regarding the characterization of the brothers. 4.5 out of 5 stars from me, and I am so ready for when Vol 2 comes out.

⟡ Obey Me ~ Volume 1 ⟡

☆ As a big fan of the game, I really enjoyed seeing the same content in comic format! Especially the TSL quiz with Leviathan and Satan’s cursed book. All the brothers were drawn in high quality and details were honoured (did not expect to see THAT much of Mammon).

☆ The comic is very nicely paced, but can be a little chaotic at times (I do not understand the butt thing? T_T). I do feel like Obey Me would serve much better as a more serious series (before meeting MC)- the reason I say this is because I appreciate the potential in such richly detailed characters and developed worldbuilding - I would love to see more of the Devildom’s serious side.

☆ Absolutely loved the sheep MC, they do look like a plushie when the brother’s pick them up and I love that.

☆ The mini panels were very enjoyable, the whole volume was super digestible (considering all the information) and everything I hoped for as a fan. I look forward to the next volume ⟡

The manga was great! I’m definitely biased because I’ve been obsessed with the game for about 3 1/2 years now but overall the story is good. If you’ve never played the game and you’re thinking about reading it I recommend you do so. Many of the events happen quite fast and it was a little hard to follow sometimes so playing the game (the original, not Nightbringer) would definitely help you there. Even with playing the beginning of the game probably 5 times now the manga is still quite enjoyable since the events don’t happen exactly as they do in the game also, having the Obey Me! Story presented in manga form with illustrated panels helps me paint pictures in my head of what’s going on!

Overall: The manga is pretty good but was a little hard to follow at some points, but the Obey Me! Story as a whole is pretty good so, if you haven’t played the game/games I would recommend you do so!

This is the 1st volume of the manga "Obey me! The comic (why did they call it comic??????) which is an adaptation of the mobile game "Obey me! Shall we date?"

In the manga the protagonist got warped to the Royal Academy of Diavolo of the Devildom to study as a human exchange student... only to wake up as a cute sheep who lost its memory? In order to figure out what happend, to survive the school year and hopefully turning back into a human, the sheep moves into the House of Lamentation, home of the 7 Rulers of Hell (and pure chaos).

Before you ask, here are some answers:
1. Yes, I play the game
2. Yes, you basically date the seven deadly sins.
3. Yes, the sheep is cannon... in some way.
4. No, I can´t really say yet if it´s worth the money, I can only say it´s ... pricey...
(5. YES! I want a TSL manga volume!)

All in all it´s fun.

If you've played the game, then the story will be fairly familiar to you with a twist.
First of all, the human main character (your character in the game) has been turned into a sheep and has no memory.
Second, the angels and Solomon are there from the start. When I began playing, they were introduced later.
What I found hilarious was the amount of times we either saw Mammon naked or just his bare butt! Why? I mean, it was funny, but odd. That aside, I enjoyed seeing these characters in this format and obviously need more volumes because Belphie was only introduced at the end - he's my fave!

I've played quite a bit of the mobile game this is adapted from, so I came in with quite a bit of knowledge from the original source, so the story is pretty accurate to the game story. I figure they made the MC a sheep because in the game, the MC's avatar is always seen as the same little sheep, and it always keeps the gender of the MC ambiguous. You see Mammon's ass 3 separate times, so that should man his fans happy, I suppose.

I recommend buying this if you’re a fan of the anime or game. It’s like we’re getting more content ☺️ The fan service is really strong in this volume with Mammon especially 😂 The story is similar to the game but with a few changes, none that are too drastic. The art style is also nice.

This was…weird 😂 never seen the anime, never played the game. It feels like it is definitely adapted from the phone game though, it’s all over the place. Unsure why the MC is a sheep lmao but hey at least the guys are hot I guess.
