This was good, the intrigue, mystery and action was amazing. Kept me glued to each page because I needed to know what the connection was with Allison, Kenneth, the senator..etc. I would have given it a higher rating but this ends on a fucking whopper of a CLIFFHANGER!!
If I didn't have the first three books bundled set, I would have been even more pissed than I am now. I fucking hate cliffhangers, hate them with an evil fucking passion and its obvious this author enjoys tormenting her readers! Book one also ended on a slight cliffhanger but it didn't bother me to distraction since I didn't really like that book. I'm scared to read the third book because if we go by previous books, then its obvious book three is also a cliffhanger!
Word to the wise...cliffhangers can do a lot of damage to a writers audience.. people either love the suspense and become true fans or others, like me, truly hate the unknown and just give up on the writer. I hate being teased and thank my lucky stars I didn't pay for this bundle!!
This story follows Jake who is now temporarily working for the FBI with Gabe and Troy. They are tracking Congressman Wharton to see if he is involved in illegal activities as they suspect..
To keep his sisters out of danger, they are in a safe house while Jake searches Lahedeh for answers. It is there that he meets Allison. She had gone to Afghanistan to find her fiance', who she hadn't heard from in months.
After Jake rescued Allison from some bad guys he found out more about why she was in Lahedeh. After hearing what brought her there, he thought that she could be a help to their operation so he wanted to keep her around. There was also the attraction he had for her that made him want to keep his eyes on her.
I liked the characters in this quick read. Even though I didn't think Allison was too bright to go all the way to Afghanistan, of all places, to find her fiance' so she could break up with him, I did like how she didn't shy away from tough situations and even shot a man when she had to. It was terrific the way Jake was able to handle the dangerous conditions in this action-packed story.
If you like intense adventures that are full of action, you will like this book. But you should read the books in this series in order to get the most out of them.
Jake came close to losing his life, and his sisters too, and now he is on a undercover mission to take down the last remaining person who can harm his family and he isn't going to let anyone stand in his way. Until . . . a beautiful woman fleeing a street gang needs his help, desperately.
Allison Myers is in Afghanistan searching for her missing fiancé. She is getting nowhere and now comes face to face with someone from her past, except Jake is no longer the boy she once knew, but a very strong, handsome man. He tells her that as a travel writer, he can help find Kenneth, but what Jake really wants is Allison's help finding out why a Senator was involved to begin with. This middle book was great. Self contained plot and romance that were 5-Stars.
Wow Dana Marton really knows how to pack a lot of power packed action and romance into a small space. She makes every single page count right up to the cliff hanger ending. Jake Tekla we met in the first book only he was in bad shape half starved and hurt. Gabe, Jake and Troy another guy we met in the first book are now a 3 man team working for the FBI. Jake is after secrets in Lahedeh this time. He's not sick and he's ready to go and out for blood. Allison in there looking for her missing fiance. She doesn't want to marry him anymore but he disappeared 5 months ago and no one seems to know anything. Jake's been watching her though. They share the same hotel and he's checking out everything and everyone. He ends up having to rescuing her from a bunch of locals and finding out she might be helpful to his operation but also finding himself very attracted to her. Allison is a heiriss of sorts owner of a huge company she's been struggling to prove she can handle the job. The two of them have to fight there way from baddies more than once while trying to find the answers they both need in the process falling in love. Allison has to learn she can handle anything but it's OK to have some help now and then and Jake learns to trust and that he's worthy of love. Action packed all the way through. This faced paced book packs a punch! Just watch out for the cliff hanger at the end !!! All i can say is it got me excited for the third and final book in this trio of books! I give Avenging Agent 5 out of 5 Modokker Book pick stars! To read a excerpt and check out everything Dana Marton click here www.danamarton.com
Action adventure short story with a underlying romantic element. It's a well written and very fast paced. Both the hero Jake and the heroine Alison are sympathetic characters caught in the shadow of violence that permeates Afghanistan. The romance is very understated, but the way their attraction develops is believable. Make sure your read Guardian Agent first to get the most out of both stories.
If you like spy action thrillers, narrow escapes, fast moving plots with strong heroes and heroines then you will love this book. You will fall in love with Jake Telka and Allison Myers as their paths cross while both on separate missions. What they didn't know was how both their missions overlapped and the undeniable chemistry between them would not be denied!! I loved it and can't wait to start Book 3 of this series!!
Again I am not sure if I am reading the same book as all the 5 star reviews.
I am beyond frustrated with a story that has good potential but just as with book 1 we have the bare bones version. No detail, just fact. No emotion to help connect us to the characters.
I am also frustrated with the ending because the cliff hanger means i am more likely wasting time reading book 3.
Once again I really want to give 5 stars, but I can’t give it when I feel like the story is missing so much. I don’t love cliffhangers but I will read them bc I love a good story. I was disappointed that Gave & Jasmine’s story isn’t really told any more. Then we jump to the next couple, Jake & Allison. Their story was a little more detail but I still felt if the book had been longer maybe we could’ve gotten more into them. These story lines are great & will keep you interested, but you will be let down at the end if your looking for more with the couples. It doesn’t always have to be a love story but I felt these books were suppose to have romance in them. I see soo much potential but it’s just not shining through with these books.
I obtained this free e-book as part of a boxset from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. Allison is in Afghan looking for her missing ex fiancé . Jake is there working undercover to get the goods on a corrupt US Senator. Jake rescues Allison from a group of native thugs and decides to use her for a link to solving his case.
This story is about Jake after he's recovered from his injuries and cleared of his AWOL charges as you read from the first book. His sisters are currently hidden in a safe house as they continue to track down Congressman Wharton.
Jake meets Allison in Lahedeh who came looking for her missing fiancé. Now while I love Jake, I didn't love Allison as much. I thought it was a little far fetch to come all the way to Afghanistan looking for a fiancé whom she didn't love and feel for. Sure she felt obligated to find him but I just didn't really see the justification. No one in the right frame of mind barges into Afghanistan just like that. I thought her actions while trying to gather info were a little stupid and she was being stubborn for all the wrong reasons.
Anyway just like Guardian Agent, this story was intense and packed with lots of actions. I was happy that at least Allison didn't get Jake injured or had the mission compromised. For this reason, I had to give this book 4 stars.
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book is romantic suspense light, or maybe extra light. I read a lot of romantic suspense/military ops bks and found the first bk in this series to be light. The premise is good, but the story was too short and the hero/heroine are thrown together for whorl wind suspense and then on the last page they kiss and decide they want an HEA. REALLY? Decided to try bk 2 thinking the first bk was the wind up and this one might be on its way to the home run. Not so.. once again, the story jumps right in with the suspense with too few pages and then the last few lines are the kiss and HEA. I’d rather have an equal balance of suspense with a romance. This book would have had potential with a better balance and a longer story. These books read more like a novella than an actual book.
I was very disappointed in this and Guardian Agent. I read them on my Kindle and got through both of then within an hour. Did Amazon leave alot out or were they extremely short books. I couldn't believe I paid money for these two books and they were very disappointing. The first book had like three paragraphs on a page and three asteriks inbetween each paragraph like there was more but it wasn't there.
I hope it ws Amazon's fault and noth the authors because I won't read another book from this author Dana Marton if that is the way her books are written. Don't get me wrong, I liked the story line but it just didn't expand on it and to short,
Jake, Gabe and Troy are on a mission to find out why the Senator is being blackmailed. While Troy is stateside, Gabe and Jake go back to Afghanistan. Jake comes across Allison who is looking for her fiancé who has been missing for 6 months. Together they search for clues about the blackmail as well as her man. Even though Jake is believable, a woman running around in an Arab country by herself is not. Additionally she does so many stupid things it is annoying.
Another fast paced read from Dana Marton. Avenging Agent was another one of those I couldn't put down. Another hero on a mission gets side tracked with a damsel in distress, only to find out that they are involved in the same mission. Each coming from different angles and how that interacts with the story. A great, fast read.
2 1/2 stars I liked this novella better than Guardian Agent. Allison has gone looking for her missing fiancé when she runs into Jake. He is now healthy and on a mission. It doesn't take long for trouble to find Allison and Jake is there to save the day. I don't see the sparks between them but apparently they are there between the two. Still disappointed.
Maybe three and a half stars if there was such a rating, but am definitely glad I read it. This is a fun series. Easy, quick read. Nothing really new, but the characters are addicting and fun. I'm ready for the next one!
It took me a few pages to realize the protagonist shifted between book 1 and 2. Still very short. I don't dislike the plot, I just feel like more could have been done with it. Each sentence is plot forwarding, but it's as the expense of the setting. Flush it out and it could be better.
This book was much like the first in the series - good but not great. The story was interesting and the twist unexpected. The characters were deep enough to connect with them, but overall, the book just lacked something that would rate more stars.
The Agents Under Fire series are just way too short for me. They are a really quick read, and I love the characters....they're strong and independent and not afraid to put everything on the line. I'm going to look for more books on this author and hope that I find some that are much thicker!
