Fifteen years ago thirty men, women, and children, were found in a small California field. Twenty-three of them were dead of an unknown cause, seven survived. Now the seven survivors are dying one by one.
Rachel Alton returned to Whitten’s Grove for one reason and that was to prevent a massacre. Her attendance at the local wedding of two of her best friends was just for fun. She never expected her reaction to seeing Ben Mitchell again. Without warning, he awakens her dormant heart, giving her hope for the future and she struggles to turn away. The clock is ticking as Rachel alone fights against the inevitable, but when forces from beyond throw Ben into the middle of the fight, will she walk away, or sacrifice herself to prevent a tragedy from happening twice?
Ben Mitchell has been carrying a torch for Rachel Alton for a long time. He watched her date his best friend and then waltz out of his life all-together after high school. Now a federal agent, Ben is about to reunite with some old friends in a town he used to call home only to find to his surprise that Rachel has returned as well and that old torch flame is immediately reignited. He tried to keep emotion out and suppress the almost overwhelming feeling of his desire for her to protect their friendship, but her mere presence is too much. After an unexpected heated night of unimaginable pleasure, Ben is equal parts consumed with feelings for Rachel and concerned by her mysterious departures and behavior. There’s just one thing he knows for sure… he’s not letting her disappear again.
Suspenseful and erotically thrilling, Ms. Romine has managed to create one mother of a fast-paced mystery. The characters are fleshed out just enough to create a surface connection with the reader leaving plenty left to be discovered in upcoming installments to the series. There is just enough back-story to form the friends and (until now) unexplored romantic connection between Ben and Rachel with snippets of Rachel’s double life, but then we’re back in the dark for the most part much like Ben. The mystery increases with each paranormally charged encounter until the end where I find myself still trying to figure out all that had happened, but the unpredictability is so well done I will absolutely be on the hunt for book two when it releases.
The Soul Mate Chronicles will quite literally keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you hot and bothered for a couple that you just know were meant for one another. Both lead characters are strong willed and I can’t wait to find out more about their ever-growing connection as well as move past that very cliff-hanger ending. Readers ready for a dramatic start to a new paranormal romance mystery, should absolutely settle in to read this one!
Ever the same is a great start to a new series. A series filled with paranormal goodies, action, mystery and romance to keep the reader engaged from page one till the end.
This series is the first Amy has written which involves the world of the Paranormal to the extent she has and I must say she has delivered a mysterious storyline with a great cast of supporting characters, and an intriguing plot that runs fluenlty from page one till the end. Leaving us wandering .... and wanting more -- now thats a good thing . !!
The passion and chemistry between Ben and Rachel was sizzling and hot,(** waggles eyebrows**) the emotions well portrayed and the characters were well defined. All descriptions well port forth and easily envisaged. Secondary characters well detailed giving them depth and there place amoungst the story.
Amy writes great suspense and romance, and The Soul Mate Chronciles is a great addition.
Ever the same is short- but filled with action, suspense, and romance and I am amazed at how much she has fit into such a short read, it certainly had me friskly reading from start to finish in one sitting.
One of the best parts about this suspenseful, romantic thriller is the progression of the drama…the story keeps getting better and better!
A touch of evil and unknown will have your hairs on end.... and edgy but fast-paced romantic suspense with chilling twists and turns..
Awesome start to what seems to be an awesome series. Fast paced but romantic from the beginning I love the heroine, Rachel. She is strong but weak when it comes to Ben, but then again who wouldn't be. The psychic battles do not overwhelm the book and the writer has a good mix of humor, romance, friendship and suspense all rolled into one. I just finished this last night and I am not soorry I waited so long to read it. I have enjoyed all of Amy Romain's book and am biting my nails anxiously for the sequel! Definitely worth the read.
I wish I could have rated this higher. The book blurb made it sound so intriguing. I could not wait to read it. However, I have to be honest and say the blurb was more exciting than the actual book. You are not given a lot of back story and most of your questions are never explained. The book starts off with action but quickly turns to page after page of what all the characters are doing during a weekend wedding. I wish less time was spent going to the mall and hiking and more time spent on what Rachel's powers actually were and her past and how it all tied in with Ben and his outburst at work. I did not care for Rachel and found myself wondering why Ben was so crazy about her. I found her to be way too hot and cold.
There were a lot of characters to keep track of and at times I found myself confused as to who was speaking, since very rarely was identity assigned to the conversations. I think the author has a very creative idea but too much time was spent focusing on the wedding weekend rather than the heart of the story.
