I love submarine novels. This one is not a novel, but a real-life account of the patrols of the "Spadefish", one of the most successful WW2 subs, in terms of ships sunk.
If it has a fault, it is too detailed, as the author had access to the official ship logs and the diaries of everyone on board. It is more of a vanity book, spending lots of pages listing the names of each person involved in specific operations.
But it also has lots of details on the challange of operating these boats, and if you really like subs, you'll like this book.
