Dead. That’s what I am. What Verona believes. But now I have nothing to live for. Nothing else to lose.

A dark, sexy, modern Romeo and Juliet retelling.

Darius has all but erased me. He’s destroyed my house, stolen my sister and forced her to marry Otto to ensure they get my millions. And worse, far worse, he has his grubby hands on my Rose, and my daughter too. But what he doesn’t realise is he’s put the nail in his own coffin. I will have my vengeance this time, I will save my family, even if I have to destroy this entire city to do it.

Dead. He’s dead. Murdered. And now I’m stuck, playing the sunshine princess once more, only this time I have to endure far worse than Paris’s disgusting treatment. And I will. I will endure everything they send my way. I will do whatever it takes to protect my daughter, the last part of Roman that I have left. But what they’re starting to learn is that this princess isn’t just enduring. Oh no. I’m changing too. I’m twisting, evolving, becoming like the very monsters around me and very soon I will rise up and make them pay for every insult, every hurt, every bit of abuse we suffer.

Dual POV Duet. Angst AF.

This is a dark retelling so please check the triggers. This duet is not for the faint hearted. Perfect for fans of H.D Carlton, Shantel Tessier. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Never was there a story of more woe, than Juliet and her Romeo.

Be. Still. My. Heart.

This book had my inner angst whore practically exploding the entire time. It's so much darker than the first book, and the plot twists are wild. I finished this last night & woke up still processing everything that happened and just feeling for the FMC. Gah.

So here is the thing.... I like certain types of books and characters. I like dark taboo shit. I love angst and struggle in books with HEA's. I have no triggers. In this book, I found a trigger...

It's stupidity. Without a doubt, unequivocally, its fucking stupidity.

If you read the first book and loved it, you're not going to like my review of this book. That's ok! I will never ever yuck someone's yum. I'm sure if you did enjoy the first book, this book was an excellent close-out to the duet.

For me - For what I like I can't do it. When characters are told to do things, and it's written that they are separate from other MCs and they don't have the big picture - but do the opposite of what they are told, and FUCK UP THE WHOLE PLAN - then say, "oh I didn't know" OMFG BITCH YOU KNEW CAUSE I TOLD YOU NOT TO FUCKING DO IT!!!! That was this whole book. The FMC was the most idiotic chick ever. Listen, I know you're going to argue with me. I know you're going to say she's been through hell and back but OMFG!!! If someone has your child... That you JUST GOT BACK and says "You have to comply or you'll lose her" You don't fucking piss off your captor. Cause guess what?? THEY'RE GOING TO TAKE YOUR GAT DAMN KID AWAY!!! Then I get to read 4 fucking pages of her groveling and crying about how they took her kid. I mean COME THE FUCK ONNNNNN!!!

Unfortunately, I didn't take Mysti's advice to DNF it. I did finish this book... and she also had to endure all of my hate of this book (which she agreed with might I add 😏😏). I mean I needed counseling after this, I had to vent it all out. And being the great book bestie that she is - she took it all like a champ.

I get it. I know Rose went through some shit. I get it was written to be dark and traumatizing, and I know she's a victim. But Sophia went through shit ten times worse than what Rose went through and STILL managed to follow directions and fucking LISTEN. All this bitch was yell "no" and "fuck you" when the protagonists told her what to do - then when she got pinched in the face she was all like "Everyone just beats on me" BRUHHHHHH you can't stand up for yourself against assholes and expect them to treat you good. You're going to have to either shut up and take it, plot your revenge and get them all in the end, OR you're going to have to fighe back and be prepared to get your ass beat. BLAAAAHHHH I could rant for fucking days about the shit this chick did. Honestly, only one other character pissed me off this bad and it was Isabella from Skin of a Sinner - I couldn't stand that book either. BookTok really let me down with this book. I really do not like rating a book low. I didn't rate the first book for that reason. The only thing that earned this book a 1/2 star was the fucked up plot twist at the end... cause my deranged ass liked that shit. lol

No but seriously. If you could get through this book and read the story by not focusing on the idiocy of the FMC then I'm sure you found this to be an excellent book with lots of dark themes and fantastic plot twist at the end. IF you can do that - If you're able to separate that by all means, read this fucker and hold on for a wild ride.

I couldn't fucking do it. I hate Rose with every fiber of my being and my notes and highlights clearly tell that story. And just be advised, if we're around each other in a zombie apocalypse and we are running from zombies - if I tell you to turn left and you fucking argue with me and turn right - I'm just going to get rid of you right then and there, cause you're not gonna get me killed by not following instructions. fucker.

This book ripped my heart out, broke it into pieces and wrapped it all back together with still so many questions that I need answered, which we will hopefully get in Sofia's story which I can't wait for.

This story continues right after the events of the first book- Roman is gone, Rose is trapped once again only this time around her situation seems much more dark, desolate and lacking hope. Darius may be the ultimate villain in this story (and I only say may because the ending really throws you for a loop and someone much more sinister is revealed and it will shock you down to your core with all of the secrets that are revealed). He really plays into being able to do whatever he wants because he thinks he has won and as the reader you certainly get that feeling in the beginning of the book. It is only as time goes on that you realize what has happened and begin to see a bigger picture coming together.

What I loved about Rose in this story was her resilience and determination to make sure that she Lana and Sofia make it out of their precarious situation alive and harmed no more than what was not preventable- and a lot of what is happening to all of them is not preventable. The situations that they have found themselves in are certainly scary but Rose never seems to give up hope that she will be able to survive and get them out of there, especially when she starts receiving help from the inside and hints that all she has been told about Roman's death may not necessarily be true.

What really impressed me about this story was the fact that you really got to see the emotional toll on Rose, Lara and even Sofia. Once they were finally somewhat out of danger, life didn't just continue on as if nothing had happened. They all have demons and scars that they are going to carry with them for the rest of their lives because of these situations and forced marriages and those difficulties were not glossed over. Since this is Rose's story, you really get to see the emotional and physical trauma that she suffers from in her relationships- how despite the fact that everyone who she deeply cares about may want to just resume life with her like it was before she was taken from him again, that simply isn't possible and there will need to be time before anyone can even think about normal life resuming. This part of the story was beautifully crafted and this story would certainly be lacking without it.

I am so glad that this story had a happy ending and I can't wait to see just what happens with Sofia- so many things were hinted at in this story and knowing that she has a novella of her recovery and story coming makes me really excited that all members of this family will finally get justice and be able to move on and live the lives that they once dreamed they could.

There was like one consensual scene in this entire book... Gave me so bad vibes and anxiety the rest of the day. I was really invested in the story though and I'm probably going to read the sequel.

And yeah I get that it's dark romance, I love dark romance such as Haunting Adeline and dubcon, but this was too far...
"Perfect for fans of H.D Carlton, Shantel Tessier. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!" I love both HD Carlton and Shantel Tessier so I was really excited for this one

It had some great moments and I was hooked for a lot of it but there was so many plot holes that left me with so many questions!

Okay okay, how does a 6 year old that has grown up in a loveless house with not support, suddenly believe and trust two random strangers (this is the first book). She barely knew Roman, Rose, Ben and Sofia and she starts calling them daddy, mummy, uncle and auntie straight away? Makes no sense. Then when she finally gets away from Darius she’s not even traumatized? AND we can assume her younger years were very sheltered as she didn’t even know what Christmas was, but she somehow knows what a good marriage looks like? You can see this when she tells Rose she wants her to marry Roman so they can never get separated. Ummmmmm I’m pretty sure the only marriage Lara has seen is the one between Rose and Darius and it was horrible and they got separated. So I don’t understand where Lara got her nice view of marriage? Definitely wasn’t her childhood or Rose. I just think generally Laras character was less thought out and she had lots of inconsistency’s.

I also am confused why 3 boys were in love with Sofia and went to extravagant length to help her (Ty legit dying for her) but she hadn’t even meet two of them? It almost felt like it was convenient for the character to love her bc she needed help. Nevertheless, this was never explained so it didn’t really make sense (maybe set up for the next book).

We were never told anymore about Darius organ trade operations, that plot line really got dropped.

Lastly, it doesn’t make sense how Rose came out of her first marriage (which she was in for many years) and wasn’t really traumatized. But after her second marriage (few months) she was quite traumatized. It just felt like healing of two different characters even though it was Rose in very similar situations both times.

This is just what I thought when I was reading and got me annoyed at times but generally I did really like the plot line and I was shocked in many places.

I received this as an advanced readers copy and my review is voluntary and my opinions are my own.

Preface: I had to study Romeo and Juliette for three years in high school and watch the original and the Leo DiCaprio remake (which was also gang and drug affiliated). It was torture. So, the fact Ellie Sanders got me to rate this 5/5 and not DNF says a lot.

Genre 5/5 She BRINGS IT for the dark romance genre. Please see her trigger warnings at www.hotsteamywriter.com

Characters 5/5 I only read this book and missed out on the first of the duet. However, Roman seems to be (despite his stalking her), a better man than Paris and is for sure better than Darius. Rose is like a younger and more anti-Darius Hermione Lodge than Hermione Lodge was anti-Hiram. She, like Hermione (somewhat) stays for her and Roman’s daughter. But, like I said, she is more against him than Hermione was against Hiram. The rest of the chars are also intense and Sanders does a great job showing how the mafia life impacts each. Also, Bella, Rose’s dog.

Plot 4/5 Like I said, I loathe Romeo and Juliette by now. Yet, Ellie makes this her own despite following the overarching story. She makes it unique enough to get you invested and that is what saved this rating. She reinvented a lot of this story while keeping the same basic premise.

Prose 5/5 Her writing is amazing for being so modern (swearing and phrasing like 2020’s). Sometimes contemporary writing styles bore me because they feel so ordinary because I live in this time, I want to be transported. Ellie manages to be modern without losing the ability to pull a reader in.

Pacing 5/5 a nice even pacing with dual POVs between Rose and Roman. Nothing more.

Overall 5/5
I will be getting the duet in physical copies. It is such a good story and for all you spice readers, 5/5 (not all the spice is safe/consensual). A very haunting reinvention of Romeo and Juliette by Shakespeare.

I couldn't wait to read this book after reading Downfall a couple months back which is the first in this duology. Uprising was a great wrap up of cliffhangers that had my jaw dropped after Downfall. Uprising is a novel of forbidden romances of course as the Romeo and Juliet's are. This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The twists and turns in this book, I definitely wasn't expecting. My jaw dropped more than once.😲😲😲😲 It is a story of revenge and uprising of course, so The MCs try to take back their city as it is being corrupted by the Governor and the Capulet's. It encompasses a lot of trauma in this book. This book is a whirlwind of emotions. I needed to know what happened in the end but I also didn't want it to end at the same time.

I highly recommend reading this duology. It is my favorite Romeo and Juliet Inspired Novel so far. Must read Downfall (Book 1) prior to reading this book. I also can't wait to read Redemption a standalone in this series about Sophia Montague coming later this year.

Uprising by Ellie Sanders

Format: Audiobook (ALC)
Narrators: Amanda Willow, Bryant Walker and Jameson Adams

Genre: Dark Romance

CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS ‼️

Uprising is book two in the Twisted Love duet and the conclusion to Rose and Roman’s tragic love story. Uprising was much darker than the first book. I personally do not have triggers however there were times I almost needed to take a break. I found myself uncomfortable and becoming very upset or angry. A story that can create such strong emotions in me is what I crave… it’s what makes a book a solid five-star read/ listen.

Once again keeping my review vague to avoid spoilers, I was spinning after the bombshells that dropped. I mean, WHAT?! Remember when I said I had no triggers? This is true, but I have limits and this book reached them. My heart broke for Rose and all she endured. How could one person experience so much trauma and heartbreak? Roman was the man and would literally burn the world down for Rose.

This duet was an amazing listen and I highly recommend it AFTER you read the triggers. The narrators were phenomenal and transported me into the book. They seemed to give the characters a pulse making the story feel real.

Do I recommend? YES!

The was better than I could hope for. This book left it all on the table. It’s everything readers want for this satisfying duet. Romeo is dead or is he? Life goes on. Darius Blumenfeld is running for governor and with the sunshine princess by his side, winning should not be a problem. Rose is with the devil heading into a marriage full of abuse. Darius is able to keep Rose in check by threatening her daughter. Rose is not willing to let her go again after just getting her back into her life. She is willing to protect her at all costs. Her daughter is her only reason for living and endearing this nightmare that is now her life.

Sofia’s life is also a nightmare. Her fake life with Otto has became her reality. The Montague’s have been slaughtered and Sophia is the only survivor or at least that’s what everyone thinks. Roman woke up after being in a coma for two months with his world turned upside down. With the help of some unlikely allies, Roman has vowed to get his life back.

Y’all are not ready for this climatic ending. The truths that are revealed on top of everything else will leave readers shook. Ms. Ellie understood the assignment. She has a fan in me. This Romeo and Juliet retelling goes dark, so very dark. Will this couple meet the same fate?

Best retelling I’ve read!

This is book two in the Twisted Love Duet. Book one needs to be read before book two. There are spoilers for book one in this review! Don’t say I didn’t warn ya! 😝

🖤please read all TW before reading 🖤

“Everyone is watching us.” She says. I smirk glancing around. Yeah they are. They’re all fixated on us. A Montague and a Capulet. Two people forbidden from loving one another and yet we do. “Let them watch.”

Based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, this is the best retelling I’ve ever read. After all, who doesn’t love a tragic romance??

We pick up with Rose living with the monster, Darius with her daughter Lara. Rose thinks that Roman is dead. But is he??

Living with Darius is like living in 🔥 🔥🔥
Once Rose finds out just how evil he is, she realizes that she can’t live without Roman.

This book absolutely broke my heart. Like sobbing tears. 😭😭😭😭 but I loved every minute.

“This man changed my life, this man is my life. My soul and his are connected, joined, one and the same. And yet he is gone. He is gone. And I am here, stuck in this world, stuck in this hateful place, knowing I will never wake and see his face, that I’ll never see his smile, never hear his laughter or feel his touch ever again.”

This is the second book in the Twisted Love duet and it picks up where book one left off. I absolutely devoured this book!!! I couldn’t put it down. It was captivating. It pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let go until the last page. With each chapter you feel like you are closer to the characters and you feel what they feel. While the story is a retelling of Romeo and Juliet, this is definitely a new twist on the original. Please be sure to check the TWs before reading this duet. This book was absolutely even more of an unhinged rollercoaster than the first one, but just as great!! This book had so many twists and turns it was difficult to keep them straight sometimes. Even though this book is part of a duet, it leaves space for more to come with other characters in the book, to share their own stories. Maybe we can look to seeing more of the story in a different light from the author in the future. All in all I loved the spice levels and the story. Amazing duet that I absolutely recommend!!!

After that cliffhanger I was super excited to find out what happens next. Make sure to check triggers and content warning before reading. Rose was such a fighter in this book. She went through so much that it affected her mentally and emotionally. Only knowing that she was keeping her daughter safe made her push through the danger and turmoil. The revenge that Rose and Roman sought after was a long time coming and their reunion was so emotional.

As for the audiobook, it's amazing! Performed in duet with a multicast. Amanda Willow brings all the pain and heartache in this one. My heart broke for Rose. Amanda elevated the emotional scenes with her narration. Bryant Walker brings all the anger and rage that Roman is dealing with the aftermath of the accident. I also felt the longing and vengeance in Bryant's tone. Jameson Adams does such a great job voicing Darius. I hated Darius. Jameson brought so much arrogance and exuded Darius's alpha dominance. If you love dark modern retellings of Romeo and Juliet check this series out!

This book is so fucked up and twisted. I wanted to go take another shower after I had took one for the night. That shit that I found out in this book will have your jaw dropping. Her mom is sleeping with her half brother which make him her uncle and then makes her own daughter marry him. Then to come to find out the fucking uncle is her FATHER. WTF!!!!!😱😱 This book has my head spinning. I loved this book. I can’t wait to start Sofia’s story. I need to know what happened to her.

Great book. It concluded some things from the first book. This played out kind of how I thought but with a lot of twists and turns in the story. Very well written. All the characters were great. I can’t wait to read more about Sofias story and the history with Koen and see how that happened. It seemed like they were familiar with each other just not sure why. Lara is adorable. Rose went through a lot in this book and a lot of history came out. To learn about her mom and her relationship with Darius was interesting. I am not surprised that they had one knowing who they were to each other. But then learning how rose all fit in and that Darius wanted her. I didn’t see that happening.

I absolutely DEVOURED this book!

I started and finished it in less than 5 hours.

I couldn’t put it down.

It was captivating. It pulled me in and didn’t let go until I read the last page.

If you thought Downfall was an emotional mindfuck, you are not ready for the ABSOLUTE UNHINGED FUCKING ROLLERCOASTER THIS BOOK IS!

I lost count of how often I said wtaf.

This book had so many twists and turns I couldn’t keep them straight. I couldn’t have kept track if I had written them down.

Ellie Sanders is a FUCKING GENIUS!!!

It is without a doubt a 5 phenomenal fucking star read. I would give it 10/10 stars if that were a thing!

This book will give you a rollercoaster of emotions. I thought the first book was gritty, but this is way worse (in the best way). Do check your triggers because this book has a fair few I’d say. I liked how book 2 was finally dark. There are things I wish as a book boyfriend roman has done differently, like letting her out his sight in the woods! A book boyfriend would NEVER! And I enjoyed the twist at the end!

I’ve been looking at my blank page trying to think of the best words to give this book justice for how good it was..
it’s taken me a while but I think I have the words..
outstanding, beautiful dark, delicious, heart breaking, emotional, epic and so amazing that I have the biggest book hangover..
this is the second book in the series and they story has got better, this picks up from book one where Roman has lost list life and Rose has to deal with a world without and and be with a man that treats her like his property a man tat she hate so much.. but she has to protect her daughter and will do anything… even if it mean she has to pretend again!

From the first page of this book I was hooked and I couldn’t put it down, each page delivered a blow to my heart and I wanted to reach into the page and pick Rose out and tell her everything is going to be okay..

But as the book went on my thoughts were confirmed when Roman did just that..
this man is a dream book boyfriend and one that is not permanently on my list, he is strong, caring, sexy and he loves Rose with such fierceness that I felt it through the pages..

A beautiful dark read and one that I will be reading again!
Please read the trigger warnings before you read this book.. there are some heavy topics but for me.. it just made this book even more beautiful.
I loved all the twists and turns. The secrets revealed and the ending was perfect..

This is the conclusion that we all needed. Roman and Rose have had to find their way back to each other, but they've done it. I loved all of the drama and action in this duet. It keeps you engaged and wanting more. Ellie really did an amazing job with these books and I cannot wait for more.

Just what my heart needed

Roman, the formerly exiled bad boy, has died leaving Rose, the love of his life, at the mercy of the predators in her life. As the story progresses her nightmare comes to life, he awakens and begins to sow strife, and they will have to deal with situations where violence is rife. Uprising was just what my heart needed after everything that happened in Downfall.

I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Pen are great tools

From being forced to do so many things to finding out who you are, to being betrayed over and over again. Rose finally rises up and becomes who she was always meant to be. Granted, it took a whole lot of pain, some battles, some smexy times, and a pen in the end to get there but she made it with Roman holding her and encouraging her the whole way.

To say that this book was worth the wait is an understatement. Nothing could have prepared me for the intensity, not only in the story but also the characters. What an amazing conclusion this was and what a journey for Roman and Rose. My emotions were all over the place as I travelled this path with Roman and Rose and their family. I have found a new author in Ellie Sanders who I know is going to give me lots more books to read and enjoy. Looking forward to reading much more from Ms Sanders.

I’m tired and, if I had energy to spare, I’d be sad. Retitling this Still Downfalling.

Anyway, here’s my review.

Roman describes Rose as the love of his life, mother of his child, soulmate, yada yada. Feels no qualms about it ever, at no point whatsoever. Continues calling her the love of his life and his reason for being. Sir. Sir? Hi. No. *punches him into outer space*

Ben is equally as pointless as he was in the first book. His sole job in this book is to carry the child away when the main characters want privacy, and to inconclusively pine for Sofia. Still unclear on how many eyes he has.
Speaking of, the author clearly holds a grudge of some sort. So many times in this duet people are at risk of or full on end up losing an eye.

You’d think by book 2, grammar would get better. Sweet summer child. No. No, it doesn’t. This time around, not only does the punctuation remain creative, but full words are missing or misplaced in the sentence. At this point, it’s a proofreading crusade I didn’t sign up for, but I’ll be damned if I don’t come out of it victorious!

I turn the corner, duck behind a car, take a moment to try to catch my breath only someone grabs me from behind and I spun around and slammed into the bumper.
.
“You’re not meant to be out after dark Rose.” He says. “I made that very clear didn’t I?”
.
“Let this be a lesson to you Rose.” He spits running his hand other over me.
.
Another memory we can store away. A happy one. A one we can think back on when we’re old and decrepit and can smile.

And my personal favourites:

“I told you before Rose. I’ve told you many times. You are mine. Mine to touch. Mine to love. Mine.”
She nods, gasping as I kiss her once more.
“Make me mine again Roman.”
.
[Roman wakes up from a long comma]
“What do you remember?” He asks.
I frown, scrunching my face up. I was with Rose.
Fuck Rose. I asked her to marry me. She said yes.

Hell yeah, fuck Rose! Wait, what?

Moving on.

Everyone and their mother falls in love with Sofia, even though she does… nothing? Things happen to her, and that’s it. Yet, every time a new male character is introduced, he is somehow inexplicably head over heels for her. Ok… Yeay for saviour complex, I guess? I understand this is done to tease readers into reading her story in another book. I get it, consider me teased. But the incomplete storylines just feel odd. This is not how you do interconnected standalones successfully.

I’m giving it 2 stars as a tribute to Ben (still, fuck you, Ben).

By far the darkest romance series I’ve ever read. It’s a modern day telling of Romeo and Juliet but extraordinarily dark. I binge read this one in a day and the first book in two days, it was so captivating. I literally couldn’t put it down. One thing I really appreciated in this book is that the author dove into how Sofia and Rose would actually act after all the trauma was over. Usually in books I find the characters not reacting like they would in real life but in this series she spends a good amount of time on the after effects of the horrors they lived through. They were shattered. I think that’s a crucial part of the story and to not dive into it wouldn’t give survivors of trauma justice. Please read trigger warnings, I really liked this book but it’s not for everyone.

4.5/5 stars rounded up. I absolutely loved this dark retelling of Romeo and Juliet. This is the second book in the duet and is even better than the first. The MMC is a bit irritating at times and not as captivating as Zade Meadows (Haunting Adeline fans will understand). Overall it was a great read but not as great as Haunting Adeline. I took half a star off because the MMC made me want to scream at times.

This book 📖 s so dark.

Updated review below

This follows book 1 ands its a lot darker, the author really pushes us with darkness, the book overflows with bad guys, which do not hesitate to do bad things while the hood guys, are few and far between and take sooo long to take action, if you struggle with patience you will struggle with this book.

At times the book felt repetitive, the phrasing was repeated constantly, and for me when Rose gets kidnapped a second time I threw my hands in the air, (Roman protect your woman) it was insane, at points were it was ridiculous, the president step son, the incest, coma, kidnapped twice. The book was a tad too long for me, as we were drenched in dark stuff for sooo much of the book that I needed the lightness to make me forget the awfulness n. I think it under whelmed me with that.

Sooo I think this author hated Rose, because they way that Rose went thru it for more then half the book. When you thought it couldn't get any worse, it gets worse. Like punishment, torture, pain I'm surprised how many times she got knocked over the head, that she hasn't got permanent brain damage.

Roman, I felt bad for him they had me fooled I actually thought he was not in the book when he didn't appear for the first 20%. When she said Rose was with Darius for 2 months, I thought Roman must be dead!!! But no just a coma, (I did think Zade Meadows
Wouldn't let little coma. Keep him away from his woman) everything he did in book 1 was cancelled out n pointless, he really did put his sister in danger for what! As Roman as the hero he under delivered for me, he couldn't protect his family, and wasn't an alpha in the book. Like I just kept imagining a young man in his 20s that still needed to grow up, he was sweet how he handled Rose when they reunite but I needed him to be more touch her n you die vibe, and go on a rampage n he really didn't, if all the books I read he should possses that quality the most after what Rose went through.

What frustrated me was what is the point in Ben??? He loves Sofia, never tells her, Roman in a coma for 2 months never attempts to save his woman in that period n most missions stays behind, I honestly feel like he was just a babysitter for Rose n Roman.

Sofia, my poor baby, she got it BAD!!! Maybe worse then Rose, and it ends with her not healed (to be expected after what she went through) her character is completely different from book 1 but it makes sense for her trauma.

Darius is a villain with a black heart n soul, he is cruel n I couldn't wait for his death!!!!

Most WTF moments there are a lot
• Darius assaults Rose at Romans funeral
• finding out she's been with Darius for 2 months
• the club scene with Rose and Sofia
•Darius n Rose are father n daughter, WTF!!!!!!

After reading the reckoning It just compounds the fact the Roman is a no good piece of shit brother. I have removed a star for his shit.

The final book in this dark Romeo and Juliet retelling truly delivers a gripping conclusion that leaves readers breathless. The narrative threads converge as Darius Blumenfeld campaigns for governor, while manipulating Rose through threats to her beloved daughter. Rose, a mother enduring a nightmare marriage, clings to hope and resilience, determined to shield her child from harm. Meanwhile, Sofia Montague's life is a facade built on survival, as she navigates a world that believes her family is lost. Roman's awakening from a coma sets the stage for a thrilling quest for redemption and justice, as he fights to reclaim the love and family he thought he lost. This heart-pounding finale unveils shocking truths and challenges characters' loyalties, weaving a tale that is both emotionally devastating and ultimately satisfying. Readers are guaranteed a rollercoaster of emotions, with every page brimming with tension, intrigue, and the undeniable power of love and sacrifice.
The audiobook adaptation of Uprising truly elevates the emotional depth and intensity of the story, thanks to the exceptional performances from Amanda Willow, Jameson Adams, and Bryant Walker who reprise their roles in this thrilling conclusion. Willow's portrayal of Rose is a standout, as she masterfully conveys the character’s complex emotions, her pain, fear, and unwavering determination. Through Amanda's nuanced performance, listeners experience Rose not just as a victim, but as a resilient fighter, embodying both vulnerability and strength. This layered portrayal allows the audience to deeply connect with Rose's journey of self-preservation and protection of her daughter while clinging to hope.
Additionally, Adams' delivery of Darius adds an extra dimension to the narrative. Despite the character's despicable nature, Jameson’s voice brilliantly encapsulates Darius's manipulative and menacing demeanour, making him a truly unforgettable antagonist. Meanwhile, Bryant's portrayal of Roman is equally compelling, as he captures the character's intensity and vulnerability, ensuring listeners are firmly on his side throughout the story. Together, the narrators succeed in immersing the audience in the dark, gritty world of Uprising, enhancing the story’s emotional impact and leaving a lasting impression.
