George is a well-travelled educator who loves the thrill of visiting foreign countries (about fifty so far) and experiencing their cultures. Besides history, cuisine and architecture, he is particularly fascinated by language and religion. (Nowhere will he not try to speak the language with the locals, whether they like it or not.) These are facets of human civilisation he likes to bring to his fast-paced thrillers, with a dash of the romance that is at the core of our existence thrown in.

George is a fan of the noir novels of writers such as Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett, in which self-destructive protagonists swim in a sea of corruption towards lose-lose situations on a distant dark shore. However, he's far more optimistic than that: he adds humour and the hope of love to his thrillers. Don't expect pat endings--he's noticed life doesn't serve them up very often.

Blood Rain in Trieste was written after an exciting trip through Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Serbia and Bosnia. His second book, Recycled Love, was based on a trip across the fabulous mayhem of India to the calm of the sherpas in Nepal was published in 2017. Trapped in Trieste, the sequel to Blood Rain, will be published in late 2020.

George was born in England and after university moved to Los Angeles, California, USA, and to Toronto, Canada before ending up in British Columbia.
