In this volume, three stories from the New York Times bestselling series Five Nights at Freddy' Fazbear Frights come to life in delightfully horrifying comics. Readers This collection of terrifying tales is enough to unsettle even the most hardened Five Nights at Freddy's fans...
Scott Cawthon is an American independent video game developer, animator, and writer, best known for his creation of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise.
A decent adaptation of the Five Nights at Freddy's Fazbear Frights novels, however, I firmly think that if you didn't read the original novel, you would be completely lost in this graphic novel version. A lot of the drawings are very vague, dry, and overall confusing. Coupling that with the dialog that doesn't flow well, and characters who's names are rarely used, it makes for a very challenging puzzle to put together.
This volume of the Fazbear Frights graphic novels is an improvement over the first two. There are fewer head-scratching errors in its pages, and the artwork improves from story to story. The first story's art (Step Closer) is on par with the earlier volumes, containing the most obvious errors and looking very amateur-ish, while not being particularly egregious compared to volumes 1 and 2. (Although it does cut off part of the original story's ending, which is definitely to the story's detriment.) The second story's art (Bunny Call) is a little better, while still lacking in some areas.
The third story (Hide and Seek) is where the volume really comes into its own. Aside from a few panels/moments that could be improved, it has far better background work, pacing, and character expressions. Here, the artwork finally looks like something worthy of being in a professionally published graphic novel.
The graphic novels have a tendency of a few things.. 1- Making what used to be a serious situation into what looks like the opposite. The facial expressions make that possible in these. 2- Changing or just completely cutting out some of the story. One of my favorite scenes from the story "step closer" was completely missing/cut out. Safe to say that I didn't like this one. I haven't really liked any of the graphic novels so far, but this one was definitely the worst one so far. AND I'M STILL WAITING FOR COUNT THE WAYS!! AKA MY FAVOURITE!!!
Step Closer: asshole brother trying to scare his little brother by an out of service animatronic fox pirate. Spooky! The song Foxy sang was so ominous. Yup those animatronics are creepy! Felt like it ended abruptly and I would have liked to see the brothers face Foxy together.
Bunny Call: Family cabin vacation with creepy ass rabbit man. Omg terrifying!! A cabin, no service, and a creepy tall Ralpho 😱
Hide-and-Seek: Little brother trying to beat his brother’s arcade games so badly he cheats and accidentally gets a scary ass rabbit shadow. Wow morbid ending. I’d wanted him to defeat it :/ moral of the story: don’t cheat?
Fnaf lore exploration! I am still enjoying my read thru of the graphic novels after having read the regular novels first. Bunny call will always be my fav only the ending would be different. I asked my dad if he would sign us up for somthing like that and he said he def would have made us suffer the bunny call and laugh. Hide and seek i imagined in my head was a bit different than what was depicted but it does make more sense. As someone who’s fav is all the foxy variations one step was excellent!
I just really wished these graphic novels had a bit more soul put into them so that they could come even somewhat close to the absolute terror that some of these stories provoked in their original context. It's just the sheer amount of voids and wonky faces that aren't supposed to be wonky that puts me off of the art that just never allows these graphic novel adaptations to be any good.
It's just not allowed to be as dark as it needs to be in order to be good and scarry.
3.5 stars! The art felt rushed and didn't provide me with the horror the original books offered. People who haven't read the actual book wouldn't understand the visual novel, they would be pretty much lost. The book cover is a masterpiece but the content in it was disappointing. Every story has a different art style which is understandable but kind of irritated me? I will stay optimistic for now and hope the other novels have put more soul into the stories.
Five Nights at Freddy’s Fazbear Frights Graphic Novel #3 is a great addition to the graphic novels. All of the stories were fantastic. Bunny Call was my favorite. The artwork was also very well done.
This book was amazing! 10/10. I would say chapter 3 hide and seek was kind of boring, but the others are so good. My favorite is chapter 1/ step closer. It is scary, interesting, and has great characters. Thats the end of this review bye!!!
I cant say much but there no way im finishing the rest of the upcoming volumes cuz i feel bored reading it.... Maybe someday when i have the mood i will continue back but this is the end for FNAF fandom for me XD
I personally didn’t like the originals of the stories, but it is still greatly illustrated. If you like the stories you will definitely like the graphic novels of it.
3.5 stars, Bunny Call really dragged this collection down. I did not care for it. BUT Step Closer and Hide and Seek were amazing stories! 1) Hide and Seek 2) Step Closer 3) Bunny Call
