Oh my!! Beau and Vanessa's story is one that isn't to be missed!! This one has heart and all kinds of love!! These two had a storybook romance in high school and when things were looking up, their world got turned upside down. It broke both of them.
The love they once shared never died.. They may have done remarkable things in their time apart but now they need each other more then ever. I loved the shock of seeing each other, the banter between them and the healing that happens in this. Also I love the hint of mystery with this story as well. It was all so fantastic!! Beau and Vanessa are incredible together and support each other throughout the entire book. Beau really has a way of talking to her and making her stronger in the end. He is the best!! Vanessa grows a lot in this book. She gets thrown into a position that she doesn't know if she can do and in turns rock the crap out of it. It was like she was born to be the boss!! Incredible love story with two characters you will definitely be rooting for!!

Things get interesting quickly as the two have a history and were supposed to each others forever. Vanessa is smart, witty, stubborn, and can hold her own, making Beau’s job difficult. Is their history too much to forgive? Will they solve the mystery of where her father disappeared to?
An easy read, one that pulled me in quickly.

Beau and Vanessa’s story is amazing in Bourbon and Brawn. Vanessa takes over as CEO of her family’s bourbon company when her father is gone too long. Beau ends up being her bodyguard. These two were high school sweethearts long ago. Will now be their second chance?
I love the small town, second chance romance with a little bit of drama and suspense added in. Kristin has a way with words with these characters and plot. I felt so many emotions and love all these friends are to each other. I will continue to read the other stories in the Kissing Springs Series. I can’t wait to read more in all the other stories.

This was a great story about second chance romance! I loved that they connected in another time in their lives and were able to heal from being broken up from being high school sweethearts. This is a must read if you enjoy reading about healing. Growing up and going for what you want!

Bourbon & Brawn by Kristin Lee is part of the multi-author Welcome to Kissing Springs: The Bourbon Season series. This author is new to me so I was not sure what to expect, as you just never know if you will match with a new author. So I was happy as I read the story of Vanessa and Beau and found myself enmeshed in the book and story-line. This is a second chance romance with some fun twists that include a missing family member, suspense, danger, smouldering passion, emotions and a lot of romance.

another great book
I am not sure how Kristin keeps making these book boyfriends better and better with each book she writes but wow. This was a great second chance steamy romance with tons of plot twists. I loved seeing characters from her other series making appearances in this book as well. This was a definitely a five star read for me.

Great story with plenty of action and steamy romance thrown in. I really enjoyed the relationship between Beau and Vanessa. The story is well written as well and keeps you wondering. I look forward to reading from this author.

This is a second chance which I love. Beau and Vanessa were supposed to be together forever but things stopped that. They were childhood sweethearts that had to find a way back together. The chemistry was great and it was well written

It's definitely not what I expected

Beau Landry is back home after serving in the military as a Navy SEAL. He had done pretty well being in their small town of Kissing Springs, Kentucky, and not running into Vanessa Barron. From the age of twelve to eighteen, they were boyfriend and girlfriend—up until Beau caught her kissing Bennett, his twin brother, the day before he was supposed to leave for boot camp. He and Beau had been so close, but by senior year they were worlds apart. Now he has no clue about where he even lives or what he does for a living.
From that night on he asked his parents never to utter his name or what he was doing in his presence. Ness tried to explain to him what was going on; it wasn’t what he thought was going on. She had helped keep a secret from him when she helped him in his dark moments. And when Beau came home later, she had to throw him off their tracks to give his brother time to leave the Jack and Jill bathroom. But that secret led to a chain reaction of painful heartache, separation, mistrust, split loyalty, lies, gossip, and more.
But when Nessa’s dad gets kidnapped, a letter is given to his lawyer out of fear that what he feared was right. He left instructions for Vanessa to take over as CEO and run the business as she sees fit. But there was another letter that was opened that told her and the lawyer that Beau was to be her bodyguard and security team to take the lead at work. Okay, what I liked was that Vanessa was smart and assertive as far as work was concerned, and she actually kept her head under stressful circumstances.
What I didn't like is that she allowed a guy she was to be doing business with to finger her. What the H-E double hockey sticks! It doesn't matter if she knew him in college or not or if she was angry with Beau; no, just no! This made her look like an irresponsible girl instead of the kick-ass boss woman she was supposed to be. Especially when she was missing all the Q’s as to who was involved, and so was Beau for that matter. I knew the first one for sure, not the second one involved. But the final curtain drop with an added villain will make it a mic drop.

And with Kristen Lee’s ex-military, bodyguard and Bourbon Heiress, second-chances heart-wrenching story, you’ll love Beau and Vanessa’s story as much as Maverick and Jessica’s – if you’ve read SUNSHINE AND SADDLES. Don’t worry if you haven’t though, each is a complete stand-a-lone book that features interconnected characters, but you won’t feel as though you’ve missed out on any inside secrets!
BOURBON AND BRAWN is book 3 in the sunshine season and showed that second chances are harder than the first shot at love because inner demons play such a large part in the prevention of moving on and forgiveness, even the forgiveness of oneself.
Beau and Vanessa lost each other through an instant of panicked decision and immature lack of communication meaning that even though heartbreak was in store for them, fate made the right play. Ms Lee succinctly shows that sometimes a deep and enduring love is not enough and both partners need to actively engage in being together and understanding their own failings, otherwise history will only repeat itself.
While I consider BOURBON AND BRAWN to be a relatively low angst and sweetish romance, do not mistake this book for a sweet read. There is plenty of spice to go round and I loved that Mav and Jesse couldn’t resist each other.
Ms Lee writes beautiful romances leading her readers to experience ALL of the emotion, and I really enjoyed this book. 4.5-second-chance-romance-Stars 🥃💛✦

All she was supposed to do was sign paychecks and approve purchase orders. But her father is missing... never showing when the private charter plane arrived to bring him back home.
Vanessa has been trying her best to avoid her friends knowing that the subject of Beau and the ending of their relationship would be on everyone's thoughts. But her father had put plans in place in case he ever goes missing and hiring Beau as her bodyguard was one of the terms.
Beau is the owner of a corporate team-building business and does surveillance for a few high-profile clients. While setting up a retreat for his friend Maverick he learns of Vanessa's father's kidnapping and even though Vanessa is the last person he ever wants to guard... he knows he is the only one who can.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. We met several of the secondary characters in Sunshine & Saddles, another Kissing Springs series book. So if you want to read Maverick and Jennifer's story it is a must-read although both books have their separate HEAs. There are also other secondary characters from Sunshine & Saddles who make an appearance and I hope will have their own stories in the future.
This book is action-packed with some major twists and turns. There is mystery and suspense and danger from a very unexpected source. It is also smoking hot. Highly recommend.

Vanessa has taken over the the bourbon business in her father’s absence. So when it seems that her father has disappeared Beau is hired as her bodyguard. However, their shared past makes things a little complicated both in their business and personal lives.
I’m a mystery reader at heart, so this was a perfect romance for me. The book is a perfect combination of suspense, romance, and emotions. Two of my favorite quotes are from Beau, “She was drenched in mystery, and I was shrouded in the past.” and “And even though I want to wrap her in my safe arms, there’s an ocean between us, and I just can’t cross it.” Both of these quotes (in my opinion) paint a perfect picture of the obstacles the couple needs to overcome in the book.
Vanessa and Beau’s relationship is full of turmoil from past secrets. They both have their issues to overcome but they finally learned to open up and work past these issues. The mystery is expertly intertwined in the love story. The ending of this book was a nail biter.
This is a great book I recommend to fans or romance and suspense. However there are a few heavy topics mentioned in the book so please check trigger terms at bottom of this review.

This was a small town second chance romance.
This was a heartbreaking story that resolves into a HEA. The characters were relatable and well developed. Highly recommend!
Vanessa Barron's father owns Barrons Distillery. He wants to retire and wants Vanessa to take over as CEO. She has loved Beau since they were kids.
Beau Landry is a former Navy SEAL and now owns his own security & team building business. He fell in love with Nessa in sixth grade. He has an estranged twin brother who he hasn't seen in years.
They meet after ten years apart when her father disappears from a convention and his attorney tells her he wants Beau to be her bodyguard. They are each harboring hurt, resentment and pain from their past breakup. Nessa takes over the company as her father requested and starts breathing new life into it. One of the deals she brokers is with a college friend Rome Lennox who owns a group of nightclubs and he presses her to work with another distillery owner he knows but she declines. Beau hurts her feelings by acting like a jerk one night and she fires him. Next morning the replacement security firm owner Ben says he can't get a new team in place for two weeks so she reluctantly allows Beau to stay. Nessa and Beau hookup during that time and finally discuss the circumstances around their breakup. They reconcile, rescue her father and get their HEA.

Bourbon & Brawn is a steamy, small-town, second-chance, girl gets her bodyguard and first love romance. I have been so excited for Vanessa and Beau's story since reading Sunshine & Saddles (if you haven't read it, you need to as it's AMAZING!). Vanessa is a strong, sassy, and independent woman. Beau is a hunky, ex-military man who now runs his own security company. Vanessa and Beau were together from 6th to 12th grade until their world fell apart after Beau felt betrayed and left for the Navy, never contacting her again. They are brought together 8 years later when Vanessa's father goes missing, and she needs to step in as CEO of their Bourbon company. Her father's instructions also state that Beau needs to be her bodyguard. The two still clearly love each other but are consumed by hurt and perceived betrayal. Can these two find their way back to each other? It is clear there is love, hurt, and lots of secrets that need to be dealt with. This story put me through the ringer of emotions. My heart broke for all their pain and then rejoiced when they finally made it back to each other. Their chemistry was hot 🔥 hot 🔥 hot 🔥. After a good deal of action, drama, angst, and mystery, we get an amazing ending. Kristin Lee is the queen of second-chance romances in my book. This story was amazing.

What an amazing romantic mystery for my 2023 year!!! It came just in time for my 19th wedding anniversary!
I have always loved @kristinleewritesromance writing, but she out did herself with this one.
I loved the mystery behind the romance, that made this book. This second Chance love had my heart from the very beginning, from the tension and chemistry between Vanessa and Beau, to the heartache of secrets and missing people.

I have always loved @kristinleewritesromance writing, but she out did herself with this one.
I loved the mystery behind the romance, that made this book. This second Chance love had my heart from the very beginning, from the tension and chemistry between Vanessa and Beau, to the heartache of secrets and missing people.

Wowwwwww! I've read Maverick and Jessie's story and that story pulled a whole range of emotions from me, so I really should have been prepared to read Beau and Vanessa's story, but it still surprised me at how much I was captivated by THIS book. I had to read it all at one go as I couldn't put it down!
Beau walked away from Vanessa 8 years ago, over a misunderstanding, thinking she hurt him. Now she needs him to keep her safe, although they have to figure out what it is to keep her safe from. They also have to deal with their past and moving forward.
I loved the delicious slow burn in this story and the chemistry between Beau and Vanessa. And the supporting cast added so much to the story as well. I loved how the plot was pulled together, with some intriguing twists and turns, and interesting ideas - from the team building organization that Beau built and Vanessa's business ideas. And even the meaning behind their tattoos!
It was a really entertaining and amazing story, and if there are any more books from this series and this author I'm definitely reading them.

Lord have mercy on my heart. I am not normally a fan of friends to lovers (I've said it, but based on current reviews you may not believe me), but this is something else. It's not really friends to lovers it's more like first love to strangers to lovers.
Beau and Vanessa were first loves. Starting in 6th grade and going to right after high school graduation. Their relationship was adorable (as all are back then) and one huge thing broke them and Beau walked away never looking back (but never forgetting). Vanessa thought Beau hated her, Beau thought Vanessa betrayed him and a whole lotta hurt has been caused cause of this one night.
Bodyguard romances are hot because they lead to a lot of forced proximity and the fact that both characters need to focus a lot of attention on each other. Add in the mystery of Vanessa's missing father and it's a recipe for keeping my attention. I read this book in a day and it made my heart break for Vanessa and Beau for very different reasons. The angst is high.
This book also introduced us to Beckett (Beau's twin brother) and even though he's not a big character in the book, he's a big part of the story. I can't wait to read Beckett's story now.

Another 5 star read from Kristin!
This book is about Vanessa and Beau, who are childhood/teenage sweethearts. She finds herself as the new CEO of her family’s bourbon distillery, and he is a retired Navy Seal who now owns his owns security/protection company. Vanessa broke Beau’s heart after 6 years together and they parted ways. Fast forward 8 years when they reunite again in their small hometown of Kissing Springs, Kentucky. Beau is assigned to protect her from possible danger. The two never got over each other after all those years. Through twists and turns, high emotions, family drama and danger lurking in the wings this book takes us on a wild ride.
I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down from the second I started reading it. Kristin has a way of getting you immersed in her stories and she is such a great writer. Everything flows easily and I read this in only a few short hours. Loved the characters from other books mentioned as well.

The book is touching and evocative. The characters are emotional and intriguing. I have read almost all the books by Kristin Lee so I can really say that her books are emotional, deep and touching. The author shares the real life emotions so well. The book has second chance romance, suspense and mystery. I love the vibe and setting of small town.

Welcome back to Kissing Springs
This was such a fun read. Vanessa and Beau have a whole lot of history. But when Vanessa's Dad disappears, making Vanessa the CEO of the family Bourbon Distillery and a mysterious request for personal security that only Beau, an ex-navy seal can provide - not everything as it seems. Through the mysterious threats, there is no denying that their chemistry hasn't dampened in the 8 years that has passed.
These two definitely have some things to work out but one things for sure is that they still love each other. I'm a sucker for a second chance romance especially if it involves childhood sweethearts.
As with other books by Kristin, I really enjoyed the easy flow of the narrative and I loved the reappearance of other characters from her books even though it can be read as a standalone.

This is a new second chance romance from @kristinleewritesromance. Vanessa and Beau are childhood sweethearts who had a very unpleasant break up just before Beau left for the military. Beau served his time and is back in hometown Kissing Springs. Vanessa is also back in Kissing Springs running her family’s Bourbon distillery, temporarily in charge after her father disappears. There is a lot of mystery around her fathers disappearance and Beau becomes Vanessas bodyguard as there may be foul play involved. This book had an really interesting storyline between the bourbon, the intrigue around Vanessas father and some threats to Vanessa. Not to mention some hot spice and Vanessa and Beau realizing they never got over each other. We also go to see other characters from Kissing Springs which is always fun. Overall an enjoyable read!

Vanessa Barron and Beau Landry were sweethearts all through junior high and high school. They thought they would be together forever but a misunderstanding broke them up. Ten years later, Vanessa’s dad goes missing and his instructions leave Vanessa in charge of the brewery. Beau is asked to act as bodyguard for Vanessa in case someone is out to get her too. There is chemistry between them. You want them to get back together. We find out why they broke up, who sabotaged her dad, and someone from their past returns. I couldn’t put this book down. It was an interesting and emotional read. I felt for both of them. They were young when they broke up. I think if they had been older they might have listened to each other. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

Another great romance writing by Lee. This was a fun one with it being a romance with a hint of suspense/mystery. As always Lee writes amazing characters and I loved the strong badass Vanessa discovered herself to be throughout the story! I enjoyed the banter between characters and how their love story finally got the ending it so deserved. It was also fun to return to Kissing Springs. The creation of this town is so well written you feel as though you are one of the locals experiencing these adventures first hand! If you are looking for an easy read to get you in a great mood this is the book for you!

Vanessa and Beau were mentioned so many times in Kristin Lee’s Saddles and Sunshine I couldn’t wait to get to really know them and their history.

Vanessa’s dad is unexpectedly missing and she’s been named CEO of her family’s bourbon company and Beau is asked to be her bodyguard.
The characters have years worth of hurt feelings, anger and never ceasing love to work through. The storyline includes a touch of mystery and intrigue and totally kept my attention until the ending.

Vanessa and Beau were a couple for most of their school time. She broke up with him when he entered the military. Seven years later Beau s back and working security, and getting assigned to be her bodyguard after her father goes missing and she takes over control of the Bourbon company. Close proximity brings all those feelings back and now they need to open up. Terrific characters, with backstories, entertaining situations and chemistry. Loved the storyline of them reconnecting, the suspense surrounding her father, the hidden agendas at the company and more that kept the pages turning. Will their hidden agenda make the grade or be kept on a back burner? Terrific ending and great addition to the series.

He's gruff, protective and hot as hell! Vanessa is a force to be reckoned with & shes deteremined to take on the world one bottle of Bourban at a time! There's a lot of hurt between the two, buried secrets and a little danger lurking in the corner! But it's def a happily ever after worth reading!!
