You guys know that I like Lizzy Ford, right? It's true. All her stories have struck a chord in me in one way or another. You wouldn't think that a book about possessive aliens in a patriarchal society would be able to do it but you'd be wrong. Yep, once again, Lizzy Ford has written a book that I couldn't put down. Actually, I did end up putting it down but it was only because I literally couldn't keep my eyes open last night. My Kindle kept slipping to the side and it made it very difficult to read. Which is totally not the point, but you can see where I'm going with this, right?

Here's the thing, I didn't like all the characters in this book. This mostly revolves around Kiera's friend who drags her into the entire mess and is probably one of the most selfish characters I've read in a while. Yeah, she's a secondary character and I probably shouldn't let her annoy me as much as she did but... geez! Selfish much. Kiera even sees it in her and basically calls her on it (which made me like Kiera even more) but I wanted to throttle that so-called best friend for being such a poop.

As for the main characters, they are in no way perfect people. A'Ran is controlling, driven by his duty to his people and rather manipulative in getting what he wants from Kiera in the beginning. Yet, he makes an effort to change. Kiera is overwhelmed by her circumstances, bored out of her mind and not very open minded when it comes to the customs of the people she suddenly finds herself thrown in the middle of. She has to make some tough decisions in a short amount of time and given the type of person she is, the choice robs her of her freedom. She feels trapped and unwanted, even though her very presence is the most wanted thing on A'Ran's planet.

I really enjoyed this book. The ideas behind A'Ran's world were interesting and the characters (excluding the annoying, selfish best friend) were fun to read about. Lizzy Ford continues to impress me with her imagination writing.

I'm not sure whether me and this book just were not ment to be or if it really is that bad, but I just couldn't enjoy it. It seemed to be more like a cheesy romance novel than an actual science fiction work, and I couldn't be bothered by the whole situation of the Anshan planet where the story takes place. The characters in Kiera's Moon for me lacked dept or were just plain annoying... The way A'Ran and Kiera meet totally unbelievable, and the fact that this dominant warrior and independant woman are ment to be soulmates just a step too far on the cliche scale. I also refuse to believe that the strongwilled Kiera so easily forgives her friend for transporting her to an alien planet where women are treated like property. Or that her friend fell in love and married an alien and consented to go to his planet in the first place. To be short, I found this to be a rather unbelievable cheesy romance story with a little pinch of aliens thrown in, rather than a genuine science fiction story... And without doubt something I wouldn't be recommending to anybody.



Kiera's best friend Evelyn is going to marry her boyfriend Romas after only knowing him for three months. Evelyn tries to convince Kiera to visit them as they go live in  Romas' home far away. When Kiera refuses, they basically abduct her and take her to Romas' planet. Romas turns out to be an alien and one of the Qatwals who are at war with the Anshans. When Kiera finds out they plan to marry her to one of Romas' brothers even without her consent (women don't have free will), she desperately tries to escape.

The King of Ashan, A'Ran, is held prisoner by the Qatwals when he meets Kiera by accident. He instantly knows she is his nishani, his soulmate and the woman he needs to rescue his planet. He takes great risk to 'abduct' her and bring her back to his base. He had never asked Kiera to be his nishani, and she definitely doesn't agree with her new role. Slowly both A'Ran and Kiera are trying to adapt themselves to the new situation. The Qatwals are furious that A'Ran took Kiera away from them and launch more attacks than ever...



Like I said before, this was a story filled with cliches and unbelievable from the beginning. The characters were either annoying or felt wrong and the storyline itself wasn't much better. This book could have been so much better... The idea wasn't that bad, but I felt it was just poorly executed. As you might guess, I wouldn't recommend reading this one!

Basically, Kiera is kidnapped by her well-meaning best friend, Evelyn and her alien husband, Romas and taken to the Qatwaal planet. The man there are all alpha *beats chest* *me man, you woman* sort of guys whereas Kiera...well she's a woman from Earth's 21st Century. See the problem? She doesn't fit in with the other quiet submissive, women.
She trips trying to escape a six legged cat and falls into the arms of the man she is destined to be with.
Therein starts the adventure. The handsy man just happens to be King of Ashan (spelled correctly? ?) and he has been searching for the rightful queen. His Nishani .
It doesn't help that he's a prisoner of the Qatwaals, that his planet has been overtaken and is wrought with war and to take Kiera with him was the onslaught of another new war with the Qatwaals. Plus, Kiera was unusually bold and she thought for her own self unlike the other women from his planet.
I gave the novel four stars though, because I didn't quiet understand what happened with Evelyn and Kiera's friendship. How was Evelyn suddenly the bad guy? She played a key role in pushing Araan to Kiera by handing over the sketch pads. She was only trying to make Kiera's life better by taking her to another planet. At the end of the novel, her character morphed suddenly into this selfish person who never really cared about her best friend in the first place. That made no sense.
Anywho, great read! Loved it!

Sci-fi love story that doesn't go in for all the super tortuous romantic beginnings like some authors do. There is a slowness to the relationship but that's understandable. I enjoyed it. 3-1/2 stars

The premise was good but poorly executed. Like that saying "S/He had good intentions." There is always a but at the end of that sentence that the determines what those intentions achieved. Like giving a kid socks for Christmas, a nice gift since it's cold and his parents might appreciate it (less clothes to buy), but the kid is ultimately disappointed. I, as a reader, had a similar feeling with this book. Like all the ideas and plot devices were to benefit the author and not the readership. What does that leave the reader whit?
Poor Character creation (not just supporting but the main ones as well) - Kiera is an artist with no characteristics of one. She may be impulsive at times but it's understandable under the circumstances (her being kidnapped and all). Artists are temperamental, religiously dedicated to their craft and most often pacifists. The last one fits in with her playing video games since it is a kind of vicarious way of experiencing combat but it does not fit with her suddenly trying to learn hand to hand combat (you're in space, is it not a wiser choice to learn to pilot a ship of fire guns of whatever arms they have). All throughout i kept thinking if there was one scene showing Kiera grabbing some kind of writing utensil and scribbling on the wall it could have brought so much meaning to the character and her situation. It would have shown her displeasure at being taken without knowledge, kept away from her painting and that rebellious side that says "sc*we you i'll paint wherever and whenever i want". A'Ran was forgettable and just typical what a soldier is, to an outside observer. There was no depth to his character (despite losing his parents, it all just... seemed to bounce off him and not leave a mark). All in all the characters all felt like they were created to fit into a template an author had envisioned - what would happen if battle-weary solider fell in love with a free-spirited artist, and as such lacked any spark of their own. Kind of cliche when i think about it. Could have been made better by world building but here as well the book has some holes, too big to ignore. The alien worlds were not described well enough, even when there were details they seemed not inspiring or intriguing. As Kiera is an artist it would have been a good idea to show the new worlds through her view. These new worlds could have been portrayed with so much more awe and wonder if she'd shown some interest in them.
World building/Plot- could have been better but in the end it wasn't. The start was slow and uninteresting. I was expecting more action once the main characters met but that was without sizzle. They hardly ever interacted with each other and their relationship didn't seem real or like it was evolving. They just went from you, I to us, very disappointing. Even the end dragged on and all in all was a hard book to finish.

Um, what?

This is the first heroine I've read that I genuinely think may be TSTL. I stopped around 20% so what I'm going to write will have barely any spoilers.

Heroine and her friend are chilling on Earth. The friend turns to the heroine and says, "Hey guess what? I'm getting married to this guy I met three months ago. It's this Saturday. Actually, I'm going far away for it, do you want to come with?" to which the heroine replies, "I'll think about it".

This wasn't a good enough response for the friend, so she drugs and kidnaps the heroine and puts her on a spaceship with her and her fiance (who's a sexy alien, oh-em-gee)



So they make it to another planet where the friend's fiance lives, and the heroine's all "I want to go home", and the friend's all "Okay, but just stay until the wedding" to which the heroine agrees. So all good right? Nuhhh because while she's relaxing in her bedroom she thinks, "actually fuck this bitch, I want to leave now but I don't want to be an adult and tell her so what should I do?" at which point she decides the best thing to do is release one of their barbarian prisoners and force him to take her to a spaceship.



GIRL. You don't just release prisoners. And the spaceships were like 10 feet away from your bedroom, YOU COULD'VE JUST WALKED.

Ok, I hate Lizzy Ford! Not really, but she totally ends up making me skip things I should be doing because her books are AWESOME! I typically do not like alien books ( I know it doesn't make a lot of sense because I read mostly paranormal with vampires, faries, trolls, etc) but this this book was great. I think I like it because the "aliens" in the book look like normal people but they don't speak the same language. There are some animals that are different than the earth's but that's fine. Anyway, I highly recommend this one, it ranks up there with my favorites from Lizzy - Damian's Oracle and Katie's Hellion!

At .99 cents, the price was good enough to make me willing to try an unknown. The romance was good and, above all, believable. Even if using the trope of the fated couple, the author gives the heroine a choice, the "hero" grew to understand that fated and loved aren't the same.

Kiera is a likable character, strong, willful and with an artistic temperament. The minor characters are a bit more sketched, less rounded. (They function more as deus ex machina, rather than real people. A side note: if she had been a friend of mine, I would have killed her :D)

Overall a pleasant book to read.

Kiera is starving artist who lives with her newly engaged best friend.
Only wanting the best for Kiera, her best friend drags her across the universe , without her permission, to find Kiera a man as well.
Unfortuantely, she hooks up with a warrior named A’Ran, currently a prisoner in her best friend’s husband’s house. A’Ran wants nothing more than to reclaim his planet and restore it to its former glory. The planet requires A’Ran have a lifemate in order to bring life back to it and his people who have been fighting wars with other planets since his parents died.
Guess who the planet claims is his lifemate? Kiera.
True to form, Lizzy Ford gives you another very independent and strong willed female character.
Kiera is quite happy painting , sketching, playing War of The Gods and other online games.
She doesn’t need or want a man because she believes they are all savages deep down and only want one thing. For Kiera, true love just does not exist.
At least that is what she keeps telling herself.
Her best friend, Evelyn, hooks up with Romas, (Kiera refers to him as Rum-Ass) and within 3 months, they are engaged and going to get married that Saturday.
Kiera appreciates the fact that her best friend is so happy and in love but isn’t too fond of Romas’s old-fashioned thinking when it comes to women. Almost like the old saying about children, “better to be seen than heard”
Evelyn pleads with Kiera to come with them when they leave to go to Romas’s home which is “far away.”
Why?
Because they believe she needs a man in her life to straighten her out.
Yeah, and it only gets worse.
After the wedding, Kiera is knocked out and drug aboard a spaceship to take them to Romas’s home planet where he intends to “mate” Kiera with one of his brothers.
It only goes downhill from there.
What I loved about this story was Ford’s unwavering ability to deliver yet another snarky female role more believable than others that are out there.
Love will not come easy to the couple in this story and they will have to work together to make it work.
If you are anything like me, the men in this book will make your blood boil. Their beliefs on how women are to act and be treated can be dated back to the 1900’s. However, Kiera gives as good as she gets which makes it a pleasant and often enjoyable reading experience.
As for her “best friend” dragging her off to another planet to essentially make an “honest” woman of her, I say with friends like her, who needs enemies?
At first, I wanted more of Evelyn’s story of how she met Romas’s, why he was on earth and how she took it when she found out he was from another planet. As the story progressed, I changed my mind and just wanted to knock her out.
The question is this, as Ford is known for her unpredictability, will this story have a happy ending?
I guess you will have to read it and find out, just like I did.

This book didn’t grab me from the start. Contrary to popular opinion, I wouldn’t say the beginning or the main character was the strongest point. It only started to grow on me after the halfway mark, which honestly felt a little too late. That said, it ended up being an enjoyable read. Were the characters annoying? Kind of. Could they have been explored more? Definitely.


The Plot
The connection between the real world and the "other world" felt very shallow. One moment you're dealing with typical best friend drama, and the next you're thrown into a full-blown war. It shifts abruptly into a totally different narrative, with little buildup. On top of that, the book throws a bunch of unfamiliar names and concepts at you without giving you much time to ease in. I can imagine a lot of readers giving up at this point, especially if they didn’t read the synopsis.


The Characters
Kiera is one of the most contradictory characters I’ve come across. She’s supposed to be strong and tough, someone who can escape an alien planet and face men twice her size. Yet, she can’t stand up to her toxic “best friend” or set clear boundaries. She’s meant to be smart, but half the time she’s slow to catch on to most things, while somehow managing complex situations at the same time. It just doesn’t add up.

As for Evelyn, she sounds shallow, selfish, and the complete opposite of what a best friend should be. Despite this, she’s constantly described as a sister and soul-level BFF, which made no sense to me. There’s no real confrontation between her and Kiera. Sure, Evelyn occasionally doubts herself, but after so many terrible decisions, that’s not enough to justify her actions.

Favorite Parts
The romance may have been cliché and a bit far-fetched, but I still enjoyed it. The chemistry and banter between the two characters were fun to read. I’ll admit, I was disappointed that their relationship didn’t get more time to develop. Saving the planet took priority, which is fair, but I wanted more of them! I also appreciated that the intimate scenes were fade-to-black. It gave more space for emotional development rather than just physical.

Overall, an uneven but surprisingly enjoyable read once it finally picks up.

I would rate this more a 3.5... now for my review - First, with friends like Evelyn, who needs enemies? I cannot believe how selfish it was of her to just take Kiera without talking with her first. Especially somewhere where women have very few rights...talk about wrong. It is interesting how first impressions leave you thinking that she jumped from the fire into the frying pan that lands her married to a man she doesn't know, and yes, she did...amazing how that happens. I enjoyed the book, but was surprised that they could fall in love with him spending more time away from her than with her. I guess if you add a special bond between them that would help, but that is the only thing about the book, outside of the attitude of the men that women are second class citizens, that didn't sit well with me. I'm still a huge fan and I was interested enough to finish the book in a day.

I started to read this book because I read some promising reviews. I was sadly disapointed. Other's may like this book but it just annoyed me.
The main character is basically kidnapped by her so-called best friend and her husband. They take her to his home planet because it would be better for her. They just decided that her life wasn't worth living and that she could just leave everything behind.
The best friends justification for the kidnapping was "you said you'd think about it [coming with her]. So yeah. Not really liking that. The man on the other planet were all alpha males with serious issues. And instead of explaining everything to her friend they just let her be.
I got aobut a quarter of the way through before I was to fed up with the story.

When Kiera is kidnapped and taken into space by her best friend, she tries everything to go home. She’s astounded by her friend’s tale that her fiancé is an alien. Taken to his world, Kiera is dismayed to learn women are expected to be submissive. The men are warriors, engaged in a decades-old war with a neighboring people. Kiera breaks out an enemy prisoner so he can pilot her off-planet and she can catch a ride home. But instead, A’Ran recognizes her as his intended mate and weds her. Now she’s trapped on his planet. As they begin to fall for each other, she wonders if going home is what she really wants. This futuristic tale in the classic manner will have you hoping our missmatched couple will find love and peace.

Well. To keep the rant short and sweet - low two stars. I can't say I hated it but can't really say I liked it all too much. It's rushed in places; slow in others. It's got potential comic effect that comes to nothing and an obviously clueless heroine who after ages and ages of friendship realizes her best friend is selfish (a kettle-pot situation if I ever saw one). It definitely didn't click and felt vaguely ... meh?

So...I just finished reading this. I feel responsible to communicate my opinion inmediately before my thoughts left my brain. Why? Well because I need people to know exactly how this book was limited by some issue that I do not know who to blame for. This book could have been so much more. Yet there are various aspects that seem to shadow what could have been a much more complete novel.So much potential thrown away by very bad editing or rushed writing. On the other hand, I thought of what I felt after finishing it. I wondered in my head carefully searching each point so I could find two words at least to resume the description of what this book made me feel. They are the following: "PROMISING MATERIAL"& "RUSHED". I really don´t know where to start. So let me think...
15 minutes later...
Details:
1)The book starts very slow,promising to be predictable. Then it surprises me, and takes a huge pace change and does not stop. I could not stop reading. So Lizzy has that charming writer talent that makes a reader intrigued and involved. I loved that. It succeeded in taking me through the adventure non-stop. Sadly this is shadowed by my second point I´m going to specify below.
2) It seemed as though the were cut scenes. Cut scenes were every where! So bold and on purpose, as though she had a certain ammount of pages she had to write. Under developed character thoughts or moments that made this book so interesting, cut and summarised. It´s like there were missing pages. This book was meant for more than a quick read. None the less, it is so. I felt Lizzy was pressured to zip her novel short on purpose. The cover is wonderful, but the editing does little justice to her creative mind. I started with little expectations when I read the first chapters, but then her ideas, her writing, her dialogues, the heroine and heroe interactions made my eyes absorb every chapter that came after. Making me ache for the those missing pages or under developed character details I mentioned at the beginning. That takes me to my third point.
3)The heroine. So before I start making my point. I want to clarify something that explains why I will be very picky on the under developed heroine. She should be the most refreshing of heroins I've read so far. She should have been different and interesting due to a very specific trait that I have not seen in any romance novel today. You might say: " She is painter?". The answer is "NO". What makes her so unique really is that she is a "GAMER" a "FEMALE GAMER". She plays games, that are scarcely mentioned or explained to understand how she thinks or how she conducts herself with men or any other social aspect. I myself am a "Female Gamer", and felt refreshed by the character presented to me. But excitment turned sadly to dissapointment. I can´t help but feel that Lizzy has no idea on how a "Gamer" thinks or acts, especially being female. She clearly has no detailed knowledge of games, because she only mentioned some popular MMORPG games like quotes from a magazine. Lizzy did not do her homework on the biggest trait Keira has, that makes her do extreme things like war strategies, on what she thought was a game. Something that no women had done in A'Ran's alien planet. Keira´s mind could have been so interesting! Not once, did I feel in her head or truely accepted that she was a"GAMER". No nerd quotes comparing things to games she played. No clasical assumptions or comments that indicated her gaming talent or even her nerdiness which should come with the package when someone plays games at those levels. Her mind could have been so funny, full of quotes, or questions. Not even when she grabbed what seemed to be a strategy planner machine did Lizzy show us how cool she was when her talent in gaming discovered it. A grave mistake. The only thing developed which was not as important, but more the sentimental side of Keira was her talent in painting that overshadowed what I thought was equaly important to enhance in the character building.
A´Ran, on the other hand had more development than Keira. I felt compelled to understand his thoughts. Despite the warrior, macho, full of power attitude, Lizzy managed to make him a human being. A soldier, a prince and a man. I was captivated by the way she described his thoughts. Still both characters needed more development. They were rushed by a timeline in the story. So you end up with so many questions and unsatisfied.
4) The sex or love making scene was ubruptedly skipped. In ann odd way. Not that their has to be one. But it felt rushed. All the raised expectations on purpose just for a glimpse of there first full interaction physically and emotionally cut with a knife. If she did not want a sexual scene, at least she could have described the sweet beginning leaving us to imagine the rest. That did not happen. It´s something like this: " I took my meal"..."I woke up so sick. Sudennly... Some other thing happens that I forgot the rest". Yes, that´s exactly how I felt. Something was missing here.
5)Lizzy has originality in her character choices and manages to make like every character. Sadly I have enjoyed so little that I feel a little frustrated.
6)The ending was terribly rushed. AS all the details in this book. GOD!

So...People...Why am I giving this book a 3 star.
1) I liked the characters.
2) Lizzy won my interest with the story and the plot, although somethings were cliche.
3)She must have done something good, because I could not stop reading. It´s like the problem is not storywise. It´s that there so little of it. I wanted more of it.

5)I want Lizzy to know it could have been great in my list, if not for the previous details. She had a refreshing idea for a heroine that made expect more of her book, but that does not mean this book is bad. It means she has great potential to have outstanding novels written by her hands. I expect more.

Everyone should read this book to understand what I am saying. Also to support and expect more from Lizzy next time. She has a great talent as a writer that everyone should experience. Thank you for the read.

This book made me angry. The further I got, the angrier I got. If I had a "friend" like Evelyn, I would cut off all contact, change my name and move to Siberia, just to make sure she could never, ever find me. Ever. Kidnapping your friend is one thing. Taking her to an alien world where she literally has no rights is quite another. Mocking her talents, presuming to know what's best for her, thinking a man will "fix" her life...nobody needs that kind of friend. Give me an honest enemy any day! And to top it all off, Evelyn abandoned her cat! That is the ultimate crime in my eyes: pets are for life, not just until they become inconvenient! Fortunately, Evelyn is not the main character, Kiera is. I'm glad that she manages to make a life for herself despite Evelyn's machinations. But it is rather annoying that it takes until the end of the book for her to realize that Evelyn is no kind of friend at all. Kidnapping me from my planet and taking me somewhere where I had less rights than a child would have done it for me: that bitch would have been dead to me from that moment on. Despite Kiera's sort-of happy ending, I'm still angry. If you want to read a book that will really piss you off, this is the book for you.

So song choice first off, as per normal that i do, which is to pick a song that somehow relates to either: how my reading experience went, how it somehow relates to the book:plot, characters, relationships, etc, etc. So song choice.....Telescope Eyes by Eisley (by the way amazing band saw them in concert, it was AWE-SOME) but anyways, this is dealing with the relationship between Kiera and A'Ran.

Okay so first thoughts: honestly? i was a little indifferent about this whole thing, well that isn't true, it started off really strong, i loved Kiera she was super funny just like her antics and her, but then she started to drift into this very one-sided, and warped character. I will get to that later though. I also pretty much predicted very true that it was going to take...but if i am being honest it wasn't painful to read, and i did enjoy some parts, but in the end i figured it out pretty quickly, and lost my love for the MC. And i am not entirely sure i even like the love interest to be completely honest...well thats not entirely true, he is okay. i will get to that later.

Plot: so a lot people have mentioned in their reviews that Kiera was kidnapped by her friend, and its not the in the traditional sense where she was chloroformed, knocked over head, or shot up with some type of drug (and really kids the best way to get a date is my person favorite pick-up line, "Hey does this ratty towel smell like chloroform to you?" its how you get all the guys, works everytime!...so i have heard....*im watching you*) Anyways not only is taken by friend without contest and i guess that should have been the first tip off her friend be CRA-CRA but i totally overlooked it because i would have done the same thing, probably, no i would. But really come on bitch and a half (best friend) you can't force your friend to move to a different planet, and marry your hubby's bro, that just wrong girl! Bros before hos! Anyways back to the plot, not only is betrayed by her friend but by the guy she is trying to get help from, BUMMER! And i actually called that yeah but at the same time i was happy with everything. but things went a little meh from there. She didn't try to escape said planet she was taken to once...not once...if you REALLY wanted to go home you'd do it. Anyways not only that bothered me but the fact that the men were completely overbearing assholes - like all of them and not in a good way. Kiera apparently acts "inappropriately" A LOT but the guys on planet #1 fell in love with her because of it, and planet #2 aka savage planet, were not... um what? Also you don't get a lot of her actually doing anything that would be deemed "inappropriate" or at least in our sense of the word, but it never tells you how things are done on "savage planet" planet #2. i don't know so there was that. Also again i figured out everything about this book pretty quickly, which is okay sometimes but i dont know, make me go, NO FUCKING WAY? and i love you for life.

Characters!

Kiera: Um she started off awesome, legit, loved her. She was really funny like i said before, both with her antics, and just being her. But then when arriving to planet #2 she evened out to this very just blah character that does this or does that, pretty much normal things, video games that aren't really video games, sitting around, training. she cries a lot. Which honestly doesn't bother me personally but she was suppose to be really emotional and besides the crying she has like two maybe three actual freak outs, and they were pretty tame from others that i have read.

A'Ran: still deciding but really he was a complete ass from square one, he was all warrior and nothing else. He is all you must do as i command, but not in the charming, ahh you think you can control me way, no just in the i am a man you do as i say, i think if there were better interactions between Kiera and A'Ran than it might have worked better but there really wasn't much to work with. At the end you get a little insight of how he was treated for a past blahblah years but still doesn't make me like him anymore. He has one shining moment where i was like OMGOD i think i could jump you right now. But it quickly faded...sad.

I guess in the end i wish these characters actually had time to fall in love with each other, they are not in each other's company much and when they are the interaction between them is flat, and a little forced almost. Sometimes i was like um, Kiera why are you being so nice? He kidnapped you. then i was like my god man (A'Ran) why are you such an ass, do you not see this in her point of view? She was taken from her home without any contest, and now you take her away even farther claiming her to be your wife? Right okay i guess i am okay with that? (no, no i really am not), so here is where i needed more from them otherwise i am unwilling to accept their "love".

So the ending? Um, it ended. I really want to say that it as sort of cheesy and i felt like i had to go throw up rainbows and unicorns when i finished it. I don't know why i am being such an ass but i guess its because i am still coming down from the book i read before this which left me crying, smiling, then crying again all in the last like 10 pages - its the second one to the Black Dagger Brotherhood. So yeah....not promoting that series or anything...


So that was my review. Fun wasn't it? i know i had a good time, i might even go have a smoke ;) hehe yeah i just made a bit of a crude joke. I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the world created by Ms. Lizzy Ford and I adored the characters as much as I sometime annoyed by them. Kiera was an impossibly adorable and frustrating character. The first book to Anshan Saga was built in a wonderful setting yet frustratingly impossible plot. The way Kiera just let her friend dictated and manipulated her life was beyond ridiculous. And Evelyn was one of the most selfish being I had ever read. She made decisions that benefited only for herself and was too ignorance to even feel guilty about it. The kind of person I hated the most. Otherwise, the book was great. I enjoyed it although I would love to slap Kiera every times she let Evelyn got away with her selfish manipulation.

Good World Build with an Aloof male and a Conflicted Female

SPOILER ALERT: Fade to black unique mating scene. Strong female character. (I loved the video game angle.) Aloof male, who is not in touch with his inner feelings, spends little time (three days in book's entirety) with his "mate," and for as much as she is valued, i.e., #1 war planner, doesn't see the need to place her as a priority. There is no love in this love story.

I first read this book in middle school and am re-reading it now as an adult. For easily 15 years, I have been quoting it ("At all the times") and had forgotten where that came from.

The story is enjoyable, and the world building is great. You just can't think too hard about how sexist every man in this book is.

Poorly labeled genre

Decent plot. Wish author/publisher/website had clearly stated this is YA, not Romance. Explains the immaturity in the female characters. I expect better, YA or not.
