That’s right, your favorite princess, demon, and elf-hybrid-thing from Matt Groening’s popular animated series DISENCHANTMENT is now available in comic form! Easily streamable right to your brain via your eyes with no pesky Wi-Fi needed! Here lies the first of THREE all-new, all-comic volumes chronicling the stories you didn’t see on screen.
Matthew Abram Groening is an American cartoonist, television producer and writer from Portland, Oregon.
Groening is best known as the creator of The Simpsons. He is also the creator of Futurama and the author of the weekly comic strip Life in Hell. Groening distributed Life in Hell in the book corner of Licorice Pizza, a record store in which he worked.
He made his first professional cartoon sale to the avant-garde Wet magazine in 1978. The cartoon is still carried in 250 weekly newspapers.
This brought me back to the first two seasons, which were my favorite. I really loved the short stories. Sometimes it felt as though the cute little lore advertisements interrupted the short stories, but it made sense considering how long the stories actually were. I do miss Pendergast though and hope he's in the next few books, which I am excited to buy.
This book changed my opinion/impression of spin-off comic books. It has quite a few (loosely) relevant sidestep segments that remind me of the magazines I enjoyed reading as a kid. I love when fiction is written in a way that resembles non-fiction. I enjoyed the humour, and the Easter eggs like the cross page ‘Landscape with the Fall of (Icarus) the giants’. The characters stay true to the series, making it feel like a nice addition to the main storyline.
Visual book 3 (comic) of 2025, (6 /January) Read after dinner laying flat on my back with ambient lighting
Disenchantment is a series that needs to be talked about more. It's sassy and funny with medieval genres thrown in. This book is great! Sticking very close to the show as well as having another level of exploration into the various lands. Tell me you didn't read this in the characters' voices...😉
This book is so cool!!! I strongly recommend it for Disenchantment fans. Stories in this book are really interesting and unique, and the author's humor is as always at its best. What is more, as for non-native speaker, this book is a poweful source of useful vocabulary.
