As Thick As Thieves

Rate this book
He betrayed me.
In doing so, he betrayed his friends too.
My freedom was short lived, and now I’m shackled in this prison once more.
Waiting to be saved was the reason I held on, but as the weeks pass, I know I’m on my own.
Broken and bleeding, my hurt turns to anger.

New allies give me hope, and for once, I don’t have to run.
My peace doesn’t last long though when the Night Thieves hunt me down.
I try to keep my walls up around them but it’s hard when they were deceived too.
I’ll never let him into my heart, the villain in my story.
No matter how much he begs.

Caught in a web of lies and fake friendships, time is running out.
Enemies become friends, and friends become enemies.
When bullets fly and lives are at stake, we have no choice but to work together.
It’s time to show the world that we really are as thick as thieves.

pizap-5 📚 𝐀𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐀𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐒 📚 Is a full length reverse harem romance book and the last installment within (The Night Thieves) series by author R.E. Bond. Spoken in multiple POV's

After falling down that sucky cliffy in the previous book I couldn't wait to get my hands on this!! So in I want without a backwards glance..That cliffy had one name on my lips with anger flowing through my veins, here's hoping she comes out unscathed and wrecks havoc on him!!

This kick off right where the previous book left off. Penn back in the last place she ever thought she'd be back again, hurt and deceived by the very boys she was developing feelings for, finding it hard to comprehend they would turn their backs on her. Scared of what's to come next, either her death or to be sold to the highest bidder.

Just about losing hope of getting back to the sweet boys, the grumpy boy and the one who hated her.

This had many twists and turns. And don't worry Stone got what was coming to him, in their world you don't come out unscathed.

And even though I didn't really care for his character in the first book, in this one he took me by surprise, so much so that he's sitting up there beside Knox, the other grumpy character.

This wrapped up the series perfectly, giving us insight into how the group of boys came to be, their pasts to their present lives as thieves in the night.

DNF at 53%.

Penn got on my last freaking nerve. How can you defend someone that betrayed you like that, just because he can’t grow the f*ck up? Is whipping after being handed over to her abuser not enough or how bad he treated her in general before all that? Humiliation and degrading is apparently her kink.

I had hoped Penn would grow a backbone in the second book, but I was disappointed.

I’m sooooo gutted it’s ended 😭 that’s book was soooooooooo good I don’t know what to do with myself now.

The story starts a little bit after the first book ends and after that ending my heart was breaking so much. I have been waiting to see what happens next and with my heart in my throat I jumped straight into the first chapter and was hooked from then 🖤

There is so much plot to this book it’s fabulous. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster with so many twists and turns I didn’t know what was going to happen next. I couldn’t figure out where this story was going and I seriously shouted out loud when everything became clear 😯

The flow of the story was amazing, I loved how everything happened between the characters, there is so much going on and I felt like I was part of the story with the emotions I was feeling. The writing style of this author is incredible and I always get lost in the words 🖤

The spice is next level hot 🥵 you may need a change of undies or a buzzy friend on standby 😉 those boys know how to dirty talk.

There is some fab 1 liners where I just laughed so much 🤣 I loved having the humor amongst all the emotion. I mean there was more than enough heartache for me.

Loved the ending and I can’t wait to see these characters some more when we get other books in the same world 🖤

Just another incredible book from this author 😍

DNF !!!

This was just pathetic. The characters had no development. The “relationship” was manipulative and disgusting. And Penn was just an absolute nightmare and so ducking annoying.

One of the worst books I’ve read so far.

the second book bored me and i surprised myself that i was able to finish it. penn remains insufferable for me. i should've seen who the stalker is because penn is not reliable and not a good judge of character. she trusts and forgives so easily, it's weird.

a little bit of a rant:

anyway, i liked cruz and drake. i still think they are the sweetest. knox is okay though but i feel like his actions are based on whether drake will be happy or not. and yes, let's not talk about stone. i also find it weird that everyone can easily throw 'i love you's that fast even if we barely see any growth between all of them.

overall, still an okay but forgettable read. i'm sure that i won't be reading anything from this author though.

* i own an omnibus copy of this duology from fabled.

★2.75/5! I don’t know how I feel about this one. Was it better than the first one? Hell yes! But mainly for the plot, the characters were still horrible- absolutely no character development. However the ending was really cute! I won’t be reading anything from this author again, the writing isn’t for me

Okay this one I liked MUCH more. We got ooey gooey men, we got grovelling, we got plot points tied up in a nice little bow with a side of suspense. I loved it and I couldn’t put it down. SPICY in the best ways! I never wanted them to end and the way the men just MELTED for her… yes.

Action packed and emotional

Bond sure packed this one with one surprise after another. I love that Stone was still groveling for forgiveness even after Penn forgave him. It truly made him redeemable, which is some kind of miracle because at the end of book one I thought there was no way I would change my mind about him. I loved Stone and Knox's character growth in this book, as well as watching Penn truly find her backbone. I'm glad Stone didn't get off without any consequences and like to think Rory wasn't just looking to punish him for setting up Penn to rob her house, but also a punishment for the abuse Penn suffered because of his actions. Beckett, Jett, and Rory's sarcasm had me cracking up so many times. They provided the comic relief in between the heavier emotional stuff. In any other instance I would have probably said the story was a bit chaotic and all over the place, but this is one time when I think that chaos was a perfect fit for the characters and story.

Note... this book does have mm scenes so if that is something that you would leave a negative review for then this isn't the book for you. Also please be aware that this book does deal with some potential triggering topics so check trigger warnings.

*bangs head on desk*

I really wanted to love this duet, but there were so many things that I really disliked here.

The author really wrote herself into a corner with the Stone situation and honestly, I'm not satisfied with the end result and I'm not sure there would be any way to truly satisfy me. There are just thinks that you make your characters do that they can't come back from in a way that feels good and true. I also really disliked most of our female characters. I understand that the author was trying to make them "badass" but wow, big no from me. Maybe if I had read any of this author's other stories that involve these female characters I would feel differently. Also Penn.. What the fuck. I just.. Gosh I don't understand. And the way Knox and Cruz treated her? This whole thing made no senseeeee. Drake was the only character I liked.

And EXPLAIN TO ME what the difference was between what Stone did and what Jai did?! Explain it to me and make it make sense. Because the different endings that both of those characters got made absolutely no goddamn sense. I think that's what really tipped my anger over the edge here.

And don't get me started on how quickly that L word got thrown around when I couldn't possibly see how they meant it at all. Blah, so annoying.

There were pieces and parts to this that I really liked and I saw the potential here, but the execution was not my favorite. Unfortunately it also made me not want to read more from this author.

Satisfying conclusion

I absolutely love what the author has done with this shared world. You don’t have to read all of the series, but I’ve been addicted since book one. There are still new characters being introduced, new stories to be told, and familiar favorites that you love revisiting. Although the duet can be read as a standalone, it enriches the experience to have read the other books.

Penn grew a lot between book one and two and she still has a bit of a journey ahead but she’s going in the right direction. You can’t heal from trauma overnight, and she was put through a lot, especially in this book.

For the guys, I feel like this may have been the group I was least into. Although I think RE Bond may have written one of them a little too well, because I feel like I couldn’t accept his redemption arc. Which is shocking, since she has written some pretty dark and borderline characters but this guy, I just didn’t feel it. I’m not sure if I needed more time but he was definitely not my favorite character and even with his redemption, no thank you. I guess it’s a talent to write a character that evokes these feelings, or maybe because I like so many other characters better, I don’t know.

While I did enjoy this duet, I’m not sure if it was my favorite of the author’s. The story was interesting, there’s plenty of action, but I loved others a bit more. I’m excited to see which characters and story she focuses on next in this universe, she gave some hints at the end so let’s see what adventure we’re on next.

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
Spicy content 🌶🌶🌶/5

This was a solid conclusion to this series, However I wanted more haha but that is because I am greedy.
One of the highlights for me was getting to see more of all the men with Penn that I have grown to love, there’s something so rewarding about seeing everyone happy in the end.
The chemistry between these guys and Pen is just so good!

While I genuinely enjoyed the read, I did find myself left with a few lingering questions. But, that doesn't take away from this read.

Overall, Thick and Thieves delivered the romance, tension, and depth I was looking for, making it a worthy and enjoyable finale to the series. If you’ve read the first book, you’ll definitely want to see how it all plays out.

As Thick As Thieves by R.E. Bond is a dark reverse harem romance. This is the second book in The Night Thieves duet.

Rachel did an amazing job wrapping up this series. I was pulled in from the first and couldn't help but binge the book in one sitting. I loved the relationship between Penn, Cruz, Drake, Knox, and Stone. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I would highly recommend this series if you like dark romances, reverse harem romances, or contemporary romances.

This was a new to me author so I had no idea what to expect but almost instantly I was invested in this fast-paced super scorching reverse-harem read. Every character felt distinct and it has bonus points for having some delicious M/M as well. This is a reverse harem and It does have dark content mostly due to the criminal world it's set in. Penelope Whitlock, Penn to her friends is the daughter of an abusive piece of shit dad who's rich and extremely dodgy. She currently resides in a glass cage isolated and hidden away under the control of her father. Everything changes for Penn when whilst she's undergoing punishment by being locked in her room her home is burgled by the Night Thieves.

Taken back to their compound by Cruz and Drake who have no idea what to do with her now she can identify them Pen is introduced to a new reality. These men are part of a crew of professional thieves and also have some extremely questionable connections. But not everyone is happy about her presence. Knox, Drake's unexclusive boyfriend feels totally threatened by Penn and he makes no secret of this showcasing his disgust openly. Also, Stone the leader of the Night Thieves is a complete ass he believes Penn is playing his boys and just wants her to disappear so everything can return to normal. He doesn't trust her and thinks she's some poor little rich girl who's currently slumming it and who will run back to her daddy at the first opportunity.

I liked that this was a mixture of enemies to lovers and also had some serious insta-spice. Cruz and Drake are instantly smitten whilst Knox and Stone are both suspicious as hell. Pen is such a character she definitely uses humour to deflect and it's obvious she craves acceptance and affection something she's been starved of her whole life. Sex to her is almost transactional as she has never been taught any different. Penn was so eager to please and just wanted to be accepted she's also naturally dealing with plenty of trauma from her past.

This was easily digestible and the connections between all of the main characters felt authentic and they had chemistry together. We had danger and betrayal and a sense of found family and earned redemption. The set-up here is Penn eventually in a relationship with them all but we also have Knox and Drake who are a couple and have been together for years. I loved this aspect as it was especially lovely seeing Knox grow as an individual mostly due to Penn's influence and infectious personality. Penn was the missing piece. I also liked that every single character had flaws and some definitely had more than others.

I read this as a complete omnibus as I have a pretty special edition so I'm rating it as a whole. I found this to be well written and it easily retained my interest. I'd read this author again and highly recommend this if you like reverse harem reads set in the criminal world.

I loved every R.E Bond's books I've read so far and I love extended universe series so obviously , I was dying to read the Night Thieves story and R.E. Bond didn’t disappoint!
The Night Thieves intrigued me from their very first appearance in this universe, and those two books exceeded my expectations.

About the story: Penn lives as a prisoner in her own house, invisible to the world; her father sees her only as a business transaction. One day, an unexpected visit changes the course of her life. No more gilded cage; she's finally free... kind of, since she was kidnapped by two hotties. And guess what? They have friends...

I love grumpy characters, and oh boy, I wasn't let down; Stone was grumpy AF, and the tension between him and Penn was off the charts. But what I've loved more than anything, was a groveling Stone.

Drake and Knox's relationship broke my heart a little, Gray was just so lovable, and it was great to see Penn shaking things up by making Knox fall hard for both Penn and Drake.

Even though he wasn’t grumpy, I had a major crush on Cruz, the way he fell for Penn made me swoon and OMG his dirty talk was scorching hot!

I am sad that I already read it. I want to experience the book new every time.

The story begins a little bit after book one ends. Penn is back by her father. This was so sad and heartbreaking.

I love that we get to know more characters in dept like Ander, Zavier, Becket and the girls. The brother relation with Zavier is so sweet. The hate/love relation with Becket is so fun to read.

The character development is insane. Especially with Penn and Stone.
I love the storyline and the mystery. There are so many twist and turns and that made it really enjoyable to read.

The relationship between Penn and the guys is so heartwarming, romantic and spicy. The guys are slowly becoming a family again and Penn is part of it.

I completely devoured this book in one sitting! I seriously couldn’t put it down. It picks up basically where No Honor Among Thieves left off but with a month gone by. Penn just gets stronger for everything that happens in this book. I absolutely loved getting to know more about all of her thieves. Especially Knox! The thieves and her grow so much in this book. I really enjoyed all the different points of views. I seriously loved reading their story. And I would very highly recommend this duology to all RH romance lovers.

(SPOILERS)
I loved this reverse harem soooo muchh. Knox, Drake, Cruiz & Penn have my absolute heart!!! Even Stone managed to get me to forgive him for being a dickhead and betraying Penn🙄. The amount of drama, dark pasts they all had to deal with, trauma & banter, this book was a perfect ending to their story. At first it took a while for Drake, Cruiz & Knox to forgive Stone for what he did, but eventually (because of Penn), they did forgive him. I loved the side characters too, the bitch Beckett from the other gang ‘the Psychos’, Leah, Jai & Will, Zavier being like a big brother to Penn after saving her and even Ander who was apparently a dangerous man but was sweet to Penn and gave her ice cream after Zaver & him saved her from being bought and sold to rich men to rape and torture her. Honestly, at times I didn’t like this author’s writing very much but I absolutely lovedddd the story it was so good!!! I can’t believe it was Owen, Penn’s friend from gym that she met when she snuck out of her dad’s mansion to go to his gym, ended up being a psychotic stalker like??? He killed Leah because of Jai, who betrayed the Night Theives and was working with Owen the whole time (which I hated because I actually thought Jai was a nice guy), and he killed Estelle (Penn’s dads housekeeper and apparently her real mother??), her dad and some of the crews people at the racing tracks that they all go to. I had my suspicions but I didn’t think he was a psycho obsessed with Emily (Penn’s sister who she thought killed herself but was apparently pregnant with Owen’s child & who Owen thought was killed by her dad), and wanted Penn to pretend to be Emily so they could get their happily ever after. It wasn’t fully cleared up at the end of his claims were true but i’m guessing they were because Jai cornered Penn in the bathroom stalls (she didn’t rat him out yet because Stone was hurt and she didn’t want anyone else to die), and she asked if he knew about Estelle being her real mum and he looked away/ guilty so i’m guessing it was all true. Other than that not really being cleared up fully, and them not knowing if Emily was pregnant when she died like Owen claimed, the ending was perfect. I’m happy I got all of their POVs, Knox being a grumpy shit but softening because of Penn, same with Stone, Drake and his golden-retriever personality, and Cruiz with his kind heart. I love all of them so much and I’m soooo happy I read this story!! 10/10 for me :))

Now THAT is some fast character development, and Penn deserves an award for her level of patience with these men. I'm so glad it worked out, and at the same time, I've never been more upset to lose side characters. Seriously, Leah was the best, and Estelle was Penns whole world for so long. I can't believe they died so dramatically and so fast that there was zero chance of recovery. A bullet to the head wouldn't be the worst way to die. It was quick and probably painless, but it was the worst way for a character to exit. It was sudden and irreversible, with no chance of survival. And I hate that absolution.

I loved Penns character. Her willingness to learn every skill and her enthusiasm to work, or train or take on 4 men in a relationship, is top tier. And how easily she stepped in to help Knox and Drakes' relationship was perfect.

I definitely think Stone got what was coming to him, and almost dying from that gunshot wound was probably for the best so the guys could also get over it. He was unbelievably stupid, and suffering for it was the bare minimum.

I was pretty shook when I started the book, and the time skip was so horrible and dramatic, but thank God for Big Brother and his grumpy insomniac. I was partially hoping she'd have gotten herself out, but the comedy that insued every time Zavier explained that he bought her was golden. Also, I still love Beckett to tears and am overjoyed by her shit-disturbing attitude. Especially when she revealed the truth to Cruz and got that ball rolling.

This world seems pre-made in the sense that there were definitely other books I should have probably read first to get to know the Crews. But it was well written so I don't think I missed much. Definitely didn't miss anything so important that reading this book was unenjoyable. my impossible memory means I'll probably forget the important spoilers whenever I go back to read them in the correct order anyway, so I'll probably finish those books and then be like, hey, that's Cruz and Stone from that other series, now I know where the connection to the crews got started (cuz I assume that's what the other books involved).

Good book. I'm happy for Penns ending. I hope she and Luna make good friends for girl time stuff.

**Review shared for duet**

I actually really enjoyed the duet. The fmc was pretty sweet and innocent but was also pretty hilarious at times. She does get a little annoying at times with how trusting she is and how obsessed she is with having people like her even after they try to kill her multiple times and beat the crap out of her. Like, I get wanting to fit in, but I definitely think even after being locked away she would be able to have some sort of standard considering how intelligent she seemed despite everything she had been through.

Honestly, despite everything I actually really enjoyed Stone's character. When it came to his and Penn's relationship she was the one that annoyed me.

The plot was okay.. after everything that happened it seemed a little anticlimactic at the end.. but other than that it was pretty interesting. There were definitely some tears shed for people hurt.

I do wish we had gotten more of a confirmation of why everything had happened at the end. We find out who the bad guy is, he gives a TON of information, and they don't confirm any of it.. even the things they could confirm easily.

I would have honestly given this duet 4 stars but the fact that fmc didn't end up pregnant was so unrealistic. I wouldn't have minded a pregnancy personally. But.. a condom breaks.. she takes birth control like wayy after. Then there are multiple times where the guys don't use protection. And then when she finally has protection she is on antibiotics and worried the birth control doesn't work, yet they continue to not use any other form of protection. It just wasn't believable and considering how much of a big deal it was made every time she was intimate with them it just kind of made me roll my eyes in annoyance.

That being said, I did like the duet. I might even read it again in the future. I just think the conclusion of everything was far too quick and a bit of a let down, especially considering how dramatic everything had been working up to that point.

Beckett was extremely obnoxious in my opinion, but Luna was mentioned a few times so I might read her story next if it's available. I do like the author's writing style.

I seriously read the first book on my flight to the Jonas Brothers concert and read the second book on my flight home 😂

Seriously SO GOOD!

This is my review for both books!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I enjoyed getting to know Penn, Drake, Cruz, Knox and Stone. I wanted to hit some of them a lot of the time, cough cough Knox… cough cough STONE. But over all I love them!

Okay so back story! Penn's father is wealthy. And he treats Penn locked up like she’s a pariah. A bargaining chip to further his success. Her life is far from the picture perfect life of the rich. She's a prisoner.

Penn seems a bit odd at times, blurting things out in front of people, but when you don’t have interaction with anyone but the housekeeper, it’s kinda expected.

She is sassy, but knows what she wants. That’s for sure!

Since this is set in the same world as WMB- we get to see those characters again. And it’s an absolute delight!

The second part of the Night Thieves duet is just amazing as the first! We pick up a bit after the first book's cliffhanger and what a ride it becomes!

Overall, these Night Thieves go through tremendous character growth. Penn cements her place between them all. And helps open the eyes of some… cough cough Knox…. Cough cough STONE.

She really was the missing piece to their puzzle.

Book 2 definitely takes us on a rollercoaster of emotions and suspense.

The falling apart and coming together is AMAZING in the book. The secrets that are found are out are mind blowing. The betrayal hits hard.

But Penn’s men are there to get her through it all!

Seriously couldn’t put either book down once started!!

I can’t wait to read more from this world… hopefully!
