On September 11, 2001, the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City were attacked by two commercial passenger jet airliners hijacked and commanded by al-Qaeda terrorists. Moments after the first plane struck, the New York City Fire Department mobilized the largest emergency response in its history. The minutes, hours and days following the impact of these two aircraft and the subsequent collapse of the towers are etched in the mind of every member of the FDNY. WTC In Their Own Words chronicles the events of that tragic day. Written by Harvey Eisner, an active firefighter and Editor-in-Chief of industry-leading trade magazine Firehouse, WTC In Their Own Words presents a detailed and comprehensive look at everything that transpired that day through the eyes of those who responded with heroic bravery and The men and women of the FDNY. This book is a special tribute to those who served, and to those 343 members of FDNY whose lives ended that day as they fought to save others. Included with the book is Fire Line Video's award-winning 52-minute DVD, WTC 09-11, which captures exclusive video and radio traffic during the 9/11 WTC attack.
Loved this book. It was hard to read about everything everyone saw & had to do. I couldn't even pretend to imagine what they went through. It was all the same story, but with so many different points of view. I was very interested in reading how people saw it.
