Andrew Clawson is from Pennsylvania and fervently hopes the Pirates win a World Series in his lifetime.
He is currently writing two series.
The Harry Fox archaeological adventure series involves a Pakistani-American who chases artifacts for the Italian mob. He’s a man caught between two worlds, uncovering history’s greatest treasures while carving out his place in the world.
The Parker Chase series follows a daring banker who unravels forgotten historical mysteries while outpacing modern villains intent on using the past for their own nefarious purposes.
The TURN novels reveal the exploits of a former American big-game hunter turned conservationist who battles to save his adopted African homeland from being ripped apart by greed and violence.
Andrew lives near Pittsburgh with his wife, two young children and a rescued black cat.
The Pharaoh’s Amulet was an entertaining and interesting book to read. It can be read as a standalone novel; and it is a fully developed and well-written book, so it will take a while for you to read. The author has an exceptional ability to write action scenes, an ability which was displayed in the opening chapters of the book. All of the descriptive action introduces readers to Harry Fox, a primary character in the Harry Fox archeological thriller series. Because there are multiple story lines in the book, the next chapters tell about Harry Fox’s family, friends, and enemies interacting with each other in Brooklyn and Manhattan, New York City. The characters are multi-dimensional. They are introduced through dialogue and through their actions with each other. There is good descriptive writing of the scenes in New York. The action really picks up again in the last half of the book, when Harry finally gets to travel to Egypt to unravel an ancient Egyptian secret that involves an amulet given to Harry from his deceased father (more about this is revealed in the book). Actually, there are two amulets in the story; both help uncover the mysteries. There are cyphers to interpret, clues to follow that lead to hidden locations, and death traps to avoid in a chase to uncover the messages of Anthony and Cleopatra. There is an astonishing surprise discovery at the end. I especially enjoyed the story, within this part of the book, about the Library in Alexandria. The writing is done in a style that is unique to this author; I feel that I could identify his book by the writing. He sometimes writes in “sentences” that are one or two words long and incomplete. These help the reader understand what a character is thinking in their head. The dialogue is distinctly characteristic of the age and role of the characters. There is a well-written ending and epilogue. Also, I appreciated that the author wrote an explanation at the end of the book that described what was factual about the archaeology and what was fictional about the story. I read an ARC copy of the book. I am voluntarily leaving an unsolicited review of the book. Locations: [New York City: Brooklyn, Manhattan; Egypt: Alexandria, Dendera, Luxor, Karnak]
I received a copy of this book from the author as part of his ARC team and I am leaving an unsolicited opinion of this book.
I found The Pharoah's Amulet to be an entertaining and interesting book to read and enjoy the fact that it can be read as a standalone novel or as the finale to the first part of the Harry Fox series (as this is book six). This book brings to a close some of the mini-storylines that were established in the previous Harry Fox novels (namely the discovery of what happened to his mother, the story of the mysterious amulet that he had inherited from his father, and the battle for supremacy between Joey Morello and Altin Cana for head of organized crime in New York).
I found the development of the characters to be multi-dimensional.
There are ciphers to interpret, clues to follow that lead to hidden locations, and death traps to avoid in a chase to uncover the messages of Anthony and Cleopatra.
There is an astonishing surprise discovery at the end. I especially enjoyed the story about the Library in Alexandria in this part of the book. The author's musings are done in a style that is unique to this author; I feel that I could identify his book by the writing.

I would give this book a solid four stars out of five, as I really enjoyed the archeological trip from the first Harry Fox novel to now, but I found the discovery that his mother was still alive and the relationship/role that she plays to be a little wanting.
I believe that this book would be a solid favourite for those readers of archeological fiction (fans of Indiana Jones type stories).
As with all my literary ramblings, these are just my five cents worth.
Oh My Giddy Aunt. Now this is a humdinger of action, revelations and undiscovered secrets and I haven't even got to the Archaeological discovery in my review!
This is book six in the Harry Fox series but can easily be read as a standalone.
After Harry received his fathers amulet over a year ago, he has never taken it off but recently he discovered a second amulet belonging to his DEA colleagues mother. Harry enlists the help of his partner geologists and historian Sara to discover what has been written on them. The amulets thought to have belonged to Anthony and Cleopatra hold a great secret and it's up to Harry and Sara to discover the truth.
This will take Harry and Sara to Egypt and the underwater city of Alexandria.
But Harry being Harry he has a few lose ends to tie up in Brooklyn before he leaves which involves taken down the head of the Albanian mafia boss! Easy right!
There is such much action and adventure in this book but the author Andrew still has time to incorporate history and facts throughout.
This is the sixth book in the Harry Fox Historical/Adventure Series and the one all Harry Fox fans have been waiting for. The finale to the plot line woven through the first five stories. The Pharaoh’s Amulet will finally reveal the truth behind Anthony and Cleopatra’s Amulets and the incredible secret they would ultimately reveal. Questions like why his father gave him his Amulet? Why his mother faked her own death and abandoned him? What’s his secret weapon to save his friend Joey and avoid a mob war? And, ultimately, will he get the girl? Are all revealed. This is a great read and a fitting finale to the arch threaded through the first five adventures. It will tease you about what’s ahead but leave you wondering what Harry Fox will be up to next. An obvious must read.
Harry finally gets the proof against the Altin Cana family, but Stefan is still a danger. Sara was seriously thing of returning to Germany, then they discover a new clue to the amulets leading them to Alexandria that she can’t resist.
Story threads started to come together with lots of new revelations added. I really like they way this is headed.
Footnote: 1) Uhh… as per Google Earth, two miles directly east of the end of the Sphinx road is right in the center of Luxor near a gas station off highway 75. It’s about 5 miles to the desert.
Fave scenes: Rose helping Harry, the Archimedes documents, Sara’s saved email message and the second test.
After all this time we finally understand how Harry Fox’s golden amulet fits into the mystery of his past and future. How it helps unlock answers he has asked for most of his life. A long lost loved one reappears, only to set him off on another adventure! What relic will Mr. Fox go searching for next?
This anxiously awaited installment didn’t disappoint, all the same nail-biting suspense, unexpected twist and turns, and great cliffhangers (literally). So glad there is one more book on the way!
Excellent entry in the series. Loved it! One thing I like about Harry is that he makes mistakes. He isn't the invincible superhero you find in other books. Nope. Harry Fox is as human and fallible as the rest of us. Maybe just a bit luckier than most, but overall, quite realistic. This book has lots of adventure and surprises, and several things are tied up. Is this the end of the Harry Fox saga? Heck, no! And I hope it goes on for a good long time. As usual, I can't wait until the next book is released. And the sooner, the better.
I had a hunch on one of the things that could happen here and I was right. The loved one who returned.
Harry once again has to solve a puzzle, and he needs to help his friend and boss Joey Morello. While doing that, he finally gets some answers about his deceased father and who is responsible for Fox Seniors death.
And in the end, he makes the discovery of his lifetime. Which is the discovery of the century and which will change his future.
The book was a fast and entertaining read and a nice conclusion to the five stories before.
Harry Fox fans will find him again on the trail of ancient artifacts but these he hopes will explain the meaning of the amulet his father gave him. Readers will say"wow, I didn't see that coming " as the author skillfully weaves some loose ends together from the prior books in the series. Will.Joey be named head of the crime families, how will Harry's relationship with Sara develop and what about Nora helping ,Harry? You must read this book to find out! You will be left breathless!
This book answered a lot of questions left over from the earlier books in the series whilst Harry and Sara go on an adventure so Harry can finally discover the amulet’s meaning. I found myself racing through this book to get to the end. I enjoyed it very much and liked the way everything starts to come together but leaving the door open to tie up one last loose end. I plan on re-reading all the books in the Harry Fox series as I’m sure there are clues put in the earlier ones that all come together in this book.
If you are new to Andrew Clawson’s books, start at book 1 in any of his series and then read the books in order. He does an excellent job of building the characters in his books so you look forward to seeing where the next book takes them.
I also enjoy reading the Author’s Notes section at the end to learn what is fact and what is fiction. It is obvious a lot of research has gone into the book and story.
I received an advance copy of this book from the author and in return I was asked to leave an honest review. But I also purchased the book too because I enjoyed it so much.
The Pharoah's Amulet is full of surprises. First is the surprising conclusion of the conflict between Joey Morello and the Canas. Next is a surprise for amulet.
Despite the fact that there may have been a forgone conclusion in one way or another, there was plenty to keep me glued to the book. I couldn't put it down until the very end. Oh well, the laundry will still be there tomorrow!
This was a fantastic story in its own right, but wraps up the mysteries from the first 5 books! And what a wrap. Lots of action and adventure and history take Harry and Sara on the final hunt for all the answers and what answers they find. An awesome e must read! Can’t wait for next one too!
Good story and wraps up several questions from the other books. All are worth reading.
What I don't understand is the timeline.
The mother disappears 20 years ago. But her daughter she had after she disappeared, who should be under 20 years old, is head of a major legal division?
Harry wore his amulet his father gave him always, in this story he discovers its twin, he also discovers his history and Sara is there to keep him strong. This is a story about a treasure hunt and as expected a dangerous hunt at that it’s exciting thrilling cunning and more a must for the adventure seekers m, recommend
Adventures and intrigue, puzzles to solve and clues to follow about in this newest Harry Fox read. I enjoyed read his and Sara's latest journeys into history and the sometimes shady places they find themselves. This has been a great series.
Is this the final chapter for Harry, will the truth finally be revealed? Will Sara stay or go. So many questions are answered in the exciting read. This has been an exceptional series and this book continues the excitement. This has to be on your must read series. I received this arc for free and I wanted to leave an honest review.
I had been waiting for this book to come out and it didn’t disappoint me. Very intriguing and fast paced reading. I couldn’t put it down. I wonder where the story will go from here.
Fast paced as always! I have loved this books an this character since I first picked one up.
The stories are ever changing! But always keep your interest and each one is unique and could be a stand alone book. But the beauty is the continuation of Harry,s story.
Another good Harry Fox story, just when I was gutted to think it would be the last one the author has left it open. Fingers crossed we will see more of Harry and co.
What an outstanding story! From the first page this book captures you and keeps you turning pages right through to the end. Full disclosure…I got an advance copy for review. BUT WOW…I have thoroughly enjoyed every one of the Harry Fox adventures and this one did not disappoint. I won’t put spoilers in here but will say that the reader may find answers to some questions while joining Harry and Sara on a thrilling ride through history. And if you enjoy history, be sure to read the authors notes when you finish the story. Best yet Mr Clawson!
I saw the "big" reveal coming in the previous book and now there are major plot holes: twenty years have passed so how is Nora the head of a government division at her age unless she was already born? It's implied that she was born after Jennifer Fox disappeared which would make her college-aged at least. Clawson didn't think him timeline through. But why let common sense and accuracy get in the way of a story...and as usual, he twists real history and authenticity to fabricate a story that is all over the place.
I'm a big fan of Andrew's. I try hard to not read them as soon as they come out, because then I have to wait. Harry Fox has to go through hoops sometimes but he always succeeds.😀
