He now lives in the not-so-wilds of NJ, with his wife, son, two cats, two chinchillas, a salamander named Fred, and an ever-changing number of fish that may...just may...have cannibalistic tendencies. He looks forward to telling stories that people like to read.

This book was very frustrating. It takes forever to explain what's going on. When I was about 45% through it, I still didn't know why assassins were trying to kill these young men. (Not a spoiler, that happens at the very beginning). I stopped reading for a while in pique. But I couldn't leave it alone. And I was able to finish the rest of it in one day. It raced along. I still didn't find out what was going on until the end, and then only part of it. It's obvious the whole story will take all three books to tell.
The writing is good and obviously the suspense is good, if annoying, and the characters are fairly well drawn. I'm still deciding whether I like some of the people, and I'm still figuring out who all the good guys and the bad guys are. But I do want to know, and will certainly buy the next one.

I purchased this book for three reasons. First, it was a good value. Second, the book description piqued my interest. Third, the reviews posted on Amazon were good. What I didn't notice initially, although I should have because it was clearly stated in the title, is that this book is the first book in a trilogy. Here lies my biggest rub with this book. It does not stand alone.
Should all books in a series stand alone? In my opinion they should. While some elements of the story and characters can carry over to subsequent books in a series there should be some element of the plot or characters resolved in each book. For example, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was a good read and while I was anxious to read the next book because I liked the characters so much there was a complete novel in the first book. The Hunger Games books are another example of a series where there was a plot resolution in each book of the series. One of my favorite author's, Greg Iles, has several books linked by common characters or themes that are good reads even without reading them in sequence. In my opinion Multiples Of Six is not really a series but a single work that it is being published in three books. From all the glowing reviews I have seen for Multiples Of Six I must be alone in my need for some conflict resolution in a book.
I do have praise for the book. The action is fast paced and engaging. I liked the character development of the pursued multiples and their interaction was believable and engaging. I did not lose interest and felt drawn into the story. It was somewhat frustrating that the story took so long to develop and as soon as some important information was revealed the book ended. And I do mean ended....with a surprise.
I can't say definitively that I will purchase the next book in the series. While I am interested in learning the fate of some of the characters, I feel more coerced into following the characters than invited.

I won Multiples of Six through a first reads giveaway.
The plot is great! I enjoyed the concept immensely, and I'm sure the sequels will be equally exciting. I would definitely keep reading this series. I'm sure we can expect big things from this author!
Although, plot wise, the book progressed quickly, I had a hard time connecting with the characters in the beginning. The dialogue in the first few chapters seemed a little awkward, but as the book progressed, I could feel the author getting better acquainted with his own characters, and the dialogue reflected that.
The pace was superb. I love when a book moves swiftly enough that I don't have a chance to catch my breath, but still leaves me room for speculation.
Not faulting the author AT ALL, I did find numerous errors, due to the fact that it is an ARC. I had a hard time moving past these at times, but, if anything, it has made me more eager to read the published copy. I'm sure there will be changes made and I'm very tempted to read it again in its final state.

First of all, thank you Goodreads and Andy Rane for hosting the giveaway that put this book in my hands. However, I do have mixed feelings about this book. The story itself is quite compelling, with plenty of page turning action sequences and plot twists - I certainly needed to know what happend next. However, I was at times frustrated with some of the dialogue and a few times had to go back and reread some paragraphs to try and figure out who was speaking and what they were talking about (one part I never did figure out). While much of the dialogue was witty and informational, some of it just seemed contrived. I do think this author has talent, and he definitely knows how to create a story that is both interesting and exciting. As a first novel, I think Rane has put forth a gripping effort, and the cliff hanger was brilliant. Now I HAVE to read the next two books! Looking forward to the next installment.

Another debut novel by an unknown author. Another great book that is seriously recommended to all who enjoy mysteries/thrillers.
Andy's writing style kept me thoroughly involved throughout the entire book. Each character's personalities came through as well as their relationships. The book comes alive in your hands.

Update 12/22/2012: I ran across the ebook again today and not only remembered it but wondered what happened. I read several books a week so most of the time, unless a book is really outstanding, I may not recall what it was about without some prompting. But that wasn't the case with this one. I started wondering and trying to find the next in the series.
As I stated when I first wrote this review - it was rocking along, was suspenseful and had my attention. I was definitely interested in where it was going. And I guess I still want to know what happens. So, Mr. Rane - please get the rest of the series finished. :-) Thank you.

James’ father passed away a few years ago. His mother died only recently. James was not feeling like he should be. His girlfriend Nicole kept trying to bring him back to life. Now someone he doesn’t even know has him running all over the county finding out more about his life.
Great suspense thriller. Keeps you turning the pages faster and faster. Great way to start a series, wanting to read the next one!

This book is a fast-paced adventure with excellent characters to keep you in it. I was unable to put this book down once it got rolling. The author did a great job pulling together a mystery that keeps the reader "wanting to know" what lies around the next turn. Definitely a geat read. I'm on the bench now watching for book two!

I thought this looked like an interesting book. I started it and lost a lot of sleep because it was a real page turner. Something was happening on every page, and then I got to the point of....well you will have to get there yourself- but at 2 am I am yelling WHAT! A very good book and one that I would recommend to my friends

Unsatisfactory reading
The story should be good but slow reading and leaves you hanging. Normally I would want the next book to find out what happens next, however, in this case I don't care enough to buy it.

Intriguing. Looking forward to #2. My pet peeve is that I think individual books in a series need to be able to stand alone to at least some extent. This one doesn't - just leaves you hanging.

I liked the story line and the plot, could have done without the excessive language(didn't make it a better book to read) I definately want to read the second book to find out what happens.

Different
I’ve read several novels about government experiments gone wrong and people running for their lives but this one feels different. The main characters are young people living normal lives and their world changes with one face to face meeting. The three brothers in the first book are aware there is a fourth but they haven’t been told the number is actually six. They do have some information by the last pages of this book but they are still not being told the whole story. There is enough action with everyone after them to keep the story moving but I do wish James would whine a little less while they figure it out. Glad this is just a trilogy. Think I’ll read the other two now just because I’m intrigued by the story and what role the Uncle has played in all this.

Growing up in the he era of dreams of super soldiers, the cloning of Dolly, the walk on the Moon and numerous other scientific advances which wowed us, causes me to absolutely love this first book! I must read the others. James’ confusion about his feelings for his girlfriend are to be expected when faced with life and death and staying on your feet 24+ hours with junk food or little food. It’s amazing the weird thoughts you get in situations like that.
The instant connection James feels with his brothers is surprising. I’m not likely to connect that closely with strangers. This is a great story.

interesting Read
This was an interesting but a bit confusing story. I have plenty of unanswered questions about the characters in the story but will hope they get answered in book 2.

Although this book was interesting and number 1 in the series, I won't be reading the next ones. Too far out and scary. I rate this a 4.0.

There were parts of this that I found hard to read as it just got a little confusing in places with no explanation. The premise of the story is good I found parts a little unbelievable such as the way people got into cars with people they didn't know just because they said they would be killed if they didn't. When they said they would phone the police they were told it was the police and so they got in the car - no questions asked! James in particular was annoying as he got in the got on the understanding that Paynter would tell him everything but when they got into a motel room he didn't bother asking! Again at the end of the book he insists that Paynter stops lying to him (hmmm seems to me that Paynter didn't lie as James didn't ask him everything!) but everything Paynter opens his mouth to speak James shoots him down and then says don't bother! Aaaarrrgghhhh very annoying! Yes he is upset as his girlfriend has been kidnapped and within the space of a few days he found out that he's got "2 identical brothers" that he didn't know about but please even in that situation I would think that you would want to know what was going on.
I got the book when it was free and although it would be nice to know what happened in the rest of the trilogy I'm not that interested that I would pay to find out.

this is GOOD book!
from the first chapter i got really hooked in the story and the characters,..the plot is well-written and the charcaters has distinct personality that would really leave impressions to the readers..
this is an easy read with an interesting storyline that would make you think and wonder and expect the outcome of events presented in the story..
can't wait to read the next sequel!

MULTIPLES OF SIX by Andy Rane is an interesting mystery/thriller. It is a wonderful debut for this author. This is the story of a young man,James Materson,and the secrets he learns. It’s the story of five brothers,James didn’t know about. It has an assassin,a twin brother,a hunted man,an FBI agent,a retiree who needs to right the wrongs of his past and a murdered old woman. What a puzzle of life.In order to save his brothers,James must figure out this complex puzzle. Shockingly good.
At first, I was intrigued. Who doesn't love a book that starts out with a random murder? But then it got boring and I couldn't figure out where it was going. It was entirely too random. However, once I got used to this author's style of writing, I became engrossed in the story. There are some really funny one liners in there that had me laughing out loud. That's fine when I'm in the car alone, but when a woman standing by herself in the grocery store starts laughing at the jar of jelly in her hand, people give her odd looks and a wide berth. Ask me how I know. I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of the series and more from this author.

Decent thriller about cloning. James Masterson is barely dealing with his mother's death with the help of his girlfriend Nichole. That is until he walks outside and feels cold metal held to his head. Finding out his assaulant is actually his twin spins his life out of control and when he finds out there is third he really feels like he doesn't know what is going on. Good action and some very laugh out loud narrative make the is a really nice way to spend an afternoon in the sun.

Book 1 of a trilogy and I liked it enough that I will be looking for the next book. You don't find out the back story until the very end but you get little hints all through the book. The premise is James Masterson meets his twin brother when they are both 24 years old, both adopted and with no knowledge of the other one. Then things get weird, people chasing them with guns and they don't know why. Lots of imagination here with the whole story and I am anxious to get my hands on book 2.

I have a Kindle collection named "Don't Bother". This book goes there because: I don't care about the characters, I don't care why they're off on a life & death chase, the characters' dialog is not concise, the plot is messy, the proofing and editing seems nonexistent, & there's no way I'm going to read three books to get to the bottom of this implausible mystery. Why two stars? The author "gave it a go", for which he deserves credit.
