Greek mythology is deeply ingrained in Western culture. Many aspects of literature, art, and even language have been influenced by these ancient stories as they explore timeless themes and universal human experiences, thereby allowing everyone to understand the origins of various references and symbols that are still used today.
This is the reason why it is said to be a treasure trove of captivating stories filled with tales that have drama, adventure, love, betrayal, and epic battles, making them highly engaging and entertaining, all the while sparking the imagination and inviting people to enter a world of wonder and fantasy.
In such regards, ‘Tales of a Spiritual Sun’ takes readers on a captivating journey through Greek mythology, presenting a fresh and modern perspective on both well-known and lesser-known tales. Written by author, Paul Kiritsis, it skillfully weaves together the timeless allure of ancient Greece with a contemporary twist.
My favorite story from the collection would be Mind Games, which delves into the story of the enigmatic Theban Sphinx, a complex character in Sophocles' renowned play, Oedipus. Its portrayal showcases a conflicting role that adds intrigue, along with the incorporation of a well-known riddle associated with the Sphinx, cleverly integrated by the talented poets and playwrights of the later Hellenistic period.
As the author has rightly stated, choosing to contemporize or reconstruct any ancient myth, particularly a fragment of universally recognized mythological discourses can be an incredibly daunting experience, however, if done right, it can bring extreme pleasure of reading, which is what happens here as well, hence I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
