Nothing says atmosphere like being able to hear a character’s accent in your head as you read, without it being implied in the narrative. This was exactly how this digital short read for me. You could hear the soulful music, smell the cigarette smoke (I don’t smoke – cough! cough!) and see the dim flickering lights. The tale follows the devilishly seductive Sadie through her sensually rich experiences as she searches for a musician to claim in her own special way. As she says, she’s there to arrange “a mutual transaction with mutual benefits.” I really enjoyed the strong visuals and colourful characters, and the ending doesn’t leave you hanging. I’m looking forward to the next digital short in this series.

Have you read the synopsis of this series yet? Julia Madeleine has put together a series that is a fun, engaging read and you do not have to be a fan of music to enjoy it. Okay, I love music and that is an added benefit. If I can get her on my blogtalk show, The G-ZONE, sometime soon one of the questions I am going to ask her is:”Did you have more fun doing the research or writing this?” Each installment is going to have a different historical musical figure in it. This is the second work of hers I have read; the other is the Paul D. Brazill “Drunk on the Moon” installment “Fear the Night”. Check out my post on that. My suggestion is to get in on the beginning of this hot new series because her content ROCKS, not just what is inside it.
Here is the synopsis:

The first volume of Julia Madeleine’s short story series leaves you hungering for more. Her stringent compact writing doesn’t cause her to miss a beat in the creation of her fully developed characters and the tightly woven plot showcases her writing talents.

The Devil's Music is an intense new series featuring Sadie, the daughter of the devil himself, who has an insatiable appetite for music, and in particular, musicians. Sadie is a shape-shifter who travels the world to different time periods collecting the souls of all the great musical legends.

Daddy’s little girl, Sadie, like all spoilt children always gets her way. Except that Daddy is the Devil so her games tend to be deadly. Sadie is a dangerous and curvaceous chameleon that stalks through time and place to collect her chosen prey, the talented musicians of the world. Performers that would sell their very soul to achieve the success they yearn for.

Trestle Press author Julia Madeleine brings us a deliciously descriptive tale. She sets the scene well and entertains throughout this enjoyable story. A Great read.
