A Royal Invitation. A dead dwarf. Punkin at the Fae Royal Palace?
The Queen of the Fae is ready to officially name her daughter heir to the crown. It’s an event Ebrel can’t miss. Especially as it’s a chance to finally meet her aunt, the fae queen. But, with a liability like Punkin along, can Ebrel risk another unfortunate incidents involve the fuzzbutt, his addiction to coffee beans, and the queen’s fancy dress?
That becomes the least of Ebrel and Elain’s worries when they find the queen’s minister of faerocks inspecting the gravel below the ministry’s balcony up-close. Very much too close. And, a special visitor from St. Maurice, California is a very likely suspect in the minister’s unexpected plunge.
In addition to murder, Ebrel has to dodge a pesky Minister who insists on giving her etiquette lessons, while Punkin is sidelined in a way only Punkin could manage on the misty aisle that’s home to the Fae Royal Palace.
With a murderer on the loose, Elain and Ebrel, joined by some of their friends from Misty Valley have more to worry about when a second body turns up. Even Rhodri, Jake, and Neirin may not be enough.
But, there’s a deeper mystery brewing than any of them expect. Add in a handsome mysterious stranger that attracts Ebrel’s eye, and her world is definitely in a royal mess. Can Ebrel and the gang stop the plot from boiling over before another of the queen’s ministers perishes?

Alyn Troy is an American from the Midwest (Indiana) who writes The Mystic Brews and Pixie Twist series of Paranormal Cozy Mysteries. In addition to Indiana, he's lived in Southern California, where the Pixie Twist series is set, and has served as a history docent on a notable pier in SoCal. In his past lives, he's been a journalist, a wedding photographer, and an adjunct professor.
Alyn gets assistance from his fuzzy familiar (AKA "Lord Fuzzbutt"). When not helping his human with the writing of paranormal cozy mysteries, Lord Fuzzbutt likes to sit out outside and watch the hummingbirds dart about like pixies. He often yowls at the door, waiting to head to the patio for chipmunk duty. Fortunately, the little rodents are craftier than Fuzzbutt is.
Alyn's beverage of choice is dark roast coffee with a dash of honey, and a splash of half-n-half. In addition to being half-way competent with his home espresso machine, Alyn makes a mean Mai Tai.
Excellent! Love this series . Ebrel and Elain have to leave Punkin on the Cruise ship off the Royal island coast where he is instructed to stay out of mischief and off the coffee. There’s a naming ceremony of the Heir to the Queen of Avalon and where Ebrel’s title becomes official. Lots of etiquette training and pomp. The pair come upon the body and ghost of a dwarve minister. There’s an investigation undertaken by officials and the two friends too. Lots of typical Fae ,pixie ,witchy magic , humour and a great story. Very well written synonymous to the other books ,it’s an unputdownable, engrossing, laugh out loud ,angsty and a big hug cosy mystery read. Love how this Author’s mind works and the intricacies across the books. I received an advance copy and my review is in my own words voluntary
Ebril, Elain & Punkin are off to the Royal Island to be at the official naming of the Queen’s heir. Punkin has to stay on the casino ship & makes a great job of dealing the cards! Ebril & Elain are walking in the grounds when they come across a ghost, one of the ministers, he was pushed off his balcony. Later on the man investigating the murder gets murdered himself. This is a very involved book which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Ebrel & Elain are going to an event the Queen of the Fae is having for the naming of the heir to the crown. With several deaths, ghosts, shape shifters & otherworldly entities around Ebrel gets a crash course on how to deal with them. Punkin, of course, manages to get into trouble with a new pastime he finds.
Another great book in the series. With all the different characters both good & bad, it kept me wondering who were the good guys & who were the bad ones.
Royal Brew is a wonderful quick read. It is the 10th book in the series, but can easily be read as a stand alone (although I don't know why you would skip the other 9, they really are worth the read!!). In Royal Brew we are finally introduced to Ebrel's aunt, the Queen. Of course, it wouldn't be a Mystic Brews story if there wasn't some type of mayhem afoot. Troy writes an entertaining and always moving story. This is definitely worth the read!
A fun read, that I enjoyed! Once the body is found, things really get going and I couldn’t stop reading anymore. The author has created an elaborate magical world with intriguing relations and complicated power struggles. Punkin is of course his super snarky self. I laughed so hard at how he believed… no. Not going to spoil that for you, read for yourself!
I just love this series !!! I love the imagination of the author it's very unique and so much fun to read. I am always surprised by the storylines, the magic, people's talents and abilities. Ari was a total surprise. I can't wait to see where this is going.
There is so much going on in this book, that I can't choose what I loved more! The new characters, the setting, the plot and subplot, Punkin as adorable as ever!! I can only say that this is a must read for all the fans of Alyn Troy's world, highly, highly recommended!
I could not put it down! One of my favorite series but now I have to wait for the next book. The characters are so interesting and likable, the mystery twisty and rthe promise of romance to come! I highly recommend this book!
Really loved this story. The whole 3 series that are part of the world are just fantastic. I just want to read more, and I can just read the whole book really fast that I lose track of time.
Wonderful and totally engaging story. Love that the family is finally all together and Ebrel is learning more about the magical world. Highly recommend.
By book 10 I'm usually ready to break up with the characters and move on, NOT the case with Ebrel and Elain! Such a cozy, warm, and fuzzy mystery series. Looking forward to Deadly Steel.
