Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.
Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.
He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.
Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.
The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.
He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.
Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.
By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.
This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.
When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.
Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.
Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.
I am just amazed every time I read one of Remington Kane's stories. He is brilliant! I get so engrossed in his stories that I don't want them to end. I find myself checking to see when his next one might be coming. If you have read any of his Tanner books, you'll understand. That also goes for his Taken series with Mr. White, his Jake Caliber series, Bluesteele series, to name a few, but many stories. This story though, it gets you right at the beginning and with Joe Pullo being involved you know it's going to be a great read! Joe Pullo is another man that is one of my favorites in this series. These stories just keep pulling you in with the dilemmas they face and the solutions that Tanner comes up with. I often wonder how the Author comes up with all this? I just hope he continues to do this as I will always be a devoted reader to Remington Kane
Good story, lots of action, but this story felt rather disjointed—like a series of novellas held together by the threat to/by “The New Thing”. The reading of the will and a new son’s inclusion at the end of the story felt contrived to tease the next installment. I miss Sara, Thomas, “Eight”, and other characters from the mature Tanner’s life. Solo escapades are better left to the younger Tanner series. The older Tanner has discovered the importance of friends and family; I’d like to see him work with them. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author and voluntarily provided an honest review.
Tanner helps out his old friend Joe Pullo when Pullo, head of the Giacconi family in New York City is offered a chance to join The New Thing. This would stop the fighting between families. But, of course, not everyone wants this deal to go thru and they want to kill everyone that is for it. So, there is a lot of killing and saving by Tanner. Lots of odds against Tanner so the fighting is interesting and you want to see how Tanner gets out of the situations he gets into. Always fascinating how the author comes up with his new ideas for Tanner. Definitely recommend this new Tanner book.
Typical Tanner story. Good story line. Plenty of action and suspense. Large body count. A book you can relax with. You know the good guys are going to win and the bad guys are going home in body bags. Tanner shows he is human and can get hurt, unlike other characters in other series where they get mangled or shot and two pages later they are fine. I enjoy this series and recommend it.
The earlier tanner novels were more than point and shoot, rinse, repeat stories. The newer novels remind me of the early western movies you saw every month. They were b western serials with the same characters, plot line, and even scenery. You got one good guy, hoards of bad guys, and one rescue. The newer tanner novels follow that established format.
Typical Tanner with more surprises for the bad guys. Tanner is as always steps ahead of the enemy and uses research to continue to stay ahead of the competition. I have enjoyed this series more than the Mack Bolan series of yesteryear. Keep these coming. I want to see Tanner 8 and 9.
Well now what can you expect when you are dealing with Tanner. I loved the fact that we got to see Tanner get help.from some old friends and also put a coup!e of genius plans into action. This was well written and filled with enough mystery and action to keep you on the edge of your seat.
It's becoming difficult to find new descriptions of Tanner Novels. This is another from the same mould though they have changed through the series. This one is polished and entertaining without a wasted word so the pace is fast but fun.
As usual Kane sets up intrigue and surprises. Even though you know Tanner will survive, you never know how. Kane has already hooked me on finding what is going to happen next.
As usual, a riveting and difficult book to put Dow. I liked how the different gangs were pitted against each other and the way Tanner defeated them. Looking forward to Tanner year 9.
Typical Tanner in that his plans always work and he quickly figures out a way to prevail even when taken by surprise. Amazing that his friends pick up his characteristics whenever they have been around him a short time. Still a good way to kill time.
Gave up after ploughing through the first 4 turgid, dry chapters - really mote like reading the minutes of a series of very boring meetings. I’ve had more enjoyment creosoting my fence and watching it dry.
