Sent on a mission to backwards Earth, alien physician Kalen never expected to find his destined mate. Meridan's alluring scent, soft curves and the fire in her spirit call to him the way no female ever has. She is his destined mate. He’s certain of that.
Fierce and independent, nurse Meridan was never interested in settling down, with a human or an alien, especially not the arrogant, rude and devastatingly sexy medic Kalen.
How far will Kalen go to claim the woman he loves when the rules between his planet and hers prevent him from doing just that?
After a terrifying attack leaves Meridan near death, Kalen breaks the rules to save her and bind them together as mates.
How will Meridan and Kalen find common ground before the universe tears them apart forever?
Standalone, full length novel. No cheating. Happy Ever After.
Nancey writes fun, fast and flirty scifi romances featuring feisty heroines and out-of-this-world heros. Nancey lives in an old house with her husband and two cats who have complaints with management. When she’s not writing, she enjoys video games, horror movies and anything involving time travel.
This was longer... Not quite what I expected though.
The style is there. The writing was good, as expected. But not good enough...
So this is Kalen's story... The obnoxious doctor who thinks himself superior to others. He leaves Judgement to work with humans and that's where he meets the nurse, Vargas. Meridan becomes his assistant through his stay and things become complicated. The way they deal with their attraction is odd, to say the least... It felt weird. Not the kind of hot and cold you'd enjoy. I think the main characters were my primary issue here. Their personalities were confusing and a little off sometimes. There are hysterics and definite sexual tension. No slow burner. Just two people who work together. Coworkers who don't act like they hate or like each other? But it's all wrong and off somehow? And you'll understand me once you read it yourselves. Their personalities are well defined but their actions don't match them. Plus the fact that I didn't like either of them didn't help... It dragged and made me feel like I wasn't buying the whole love or mate thing. Not her best work... Plot: bland Sex: No aftertaste Romance: Indiscernible NOT A SHORT STORY! Alpha goods present.
It seems like this a pebble in the road though, because I finished it anyway and enjoyed the secondary characters like Daisy and Mylomon. Mylomon... BEEN KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON YOU SINCE BOOK 1! Just saying... The series is overall good. Paax was awesome! So book Mylomon is a must now. I like this author despite my disappointment in this installment. I recommend it only because it entwines with the next book. Books should be read in order! 3.0 Stars for this one though!
Okay - here's the low down - Space Alien race: "Mahdfel" = needs females for procreate. Sounds way too familiar right?
Well, hang on that's not all that's on these pages.
There's an instant attraction between both Merdian and Kalen. Both attempt to hold themselves back -- knowing that it can only be a "one time" thing between them. The Mahdfel need "Mates" but Meridan can never be one because of an attack that and resulting infection that left her sterile. (yep, know seems like you've heard that before too).
But what make this a 4 star for me was the heart, intelligence, stubbornness and fight these characters brought to the story. Meridan is a medic and pretty darn good, has a compassionate heart, learned survival skills from her father when the earth was under attack from the Suhlik and brought about the downfall of our world.
Kalen is a Madhfel doctor and warrior. He is successful in spite of his young years. He is also however, very lacking in compassion and out ward emotions (my brain saw him as "Spock" with horns) - very logical and loyal to his clan. He is rather stoic on the outside - but is a marshmallow on the inside for his mate & wife.
In the end this author took something that seems to be common in stories today and made it an entertaining read by endearing this reader to the characters.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this Advanced Readers Copy.
Mahdfel Medic Kalen and human obstetrics nurse Meriden are the yin-yang pair of lovers featured in Nancey Cummings sequel to Paax in the Warriors of Sangrin series. This is a fabulous character-driven alien SF romance, with two of the most engaging and complex characters in this genre. Fiercely ambitious Kalen, orphaned and clanless son of an executed traitor, was a child prodigy and is now the youngest head medic serving on a Mahdfel warship. He's warrior-trained, battle-tested, a brilliant clinician who understands loyalty to warlord and clan above all. He's clueless about humans. Human Meridan is a skilled and compassionate obstetrics nurse. From her survivalist father she learned resourcefulness and iron-willed self-discipline; her compassion and courage came from the mother who sacrificed her own life to save Meridan from a Suhlik attack. These two are instantly attracted, and instantly on each other's last nerve. It takes a book full of alien attacks and assassins, warlords and war orphans, stuffed animals, stubborn arguments and steamy sex, before these two get their HEA together. Various interesting secondary characters and intriguing sub-plots weave seamlessly into the mix. and there's never a dull moment. The real glory of Kalen is that, under the cheesy purple-alien-hunk cover is the the heartwarming story of two survivors who make a virtue of necessity, and a true marriage out of a genetic match-up. I've read this book twice from cover to cover, and it's on my short list of favorites.
Daaaang Kalen! I loved this literal grump so much! And I loved how his mate, Meridan did not suffer his arrogance lightly. The two made a perfect team and a great couple. The romance was steaming hot and full of tons of warm fuzzies that I couldn't get enough of. I hope we get a few more glimpses into the couple's life in other books. :)
For some reason I like Kalen. His arrogance is hilarious. Personally I don’t know what the big deal was about Meridan’s ‘healing’....the alternative was death so suck it up.
Kalen is the second in the Warlord Brides, Warriors of Sangrin series. After Paax defeated his twin and became the new warlord of the Judgement battleship/spaceship, the other warriors aboard the city-size vessel can safely find their mates. Kalen and Mylomon find theirs at the same time; sisters Meridan and Daisy - both are human nurses on the Moon Base. As is usual in most Mahdfel-Human matches, both marriages start off rocky. Meridan had an exemption to the bride testing: her womb was left barren after a shulik attack when she was a child. As an adult, she suffers another attack from the shulik, this one leaving her practically dead. Kalen puts her in a special regeneration tank, it not only heals her current wounds, but old ones as well. Meridan wakes up with a healed womb, and a husband. While she was healing, she was tested, and found to be matched to Kalen. Meridan is attracted to Kalen, but fights the attraction because she is upset that he did not view her as worthy when she was barren. Their biggest hurdle is Kalen's lack of compassion for things he does not understand, while Meridan is one big butter ball of compassion and love. The test that will determine if their marriage will last is the discovery of a "foundling" human girl, stolen and experimented on by the shulik. Kalen will need to learn compassion and love for the orphaned child if Meridan is going to remain his wife. It is a wonderful story of growth, forgiveness, and bravery.
Warlord brides, man. They don't have it easy. Actually, they sort of do once they get around the mental block of being matched sight unseen to an alien, but that mental block is a BIG hump to get over. For some of them, at least.
Thanks to her medical exemption, Meridian thinks she's safe from being matched. Sure, the new alien doc making the rounds at the station might be easy on the eyes, but he's arrogant and irritating and Meridian's glad she won't end up with someone like him.
Except...oopsies. She does end up with him. Considering she was healed and tested without her say-so, she's a little bit prickly about that. As you can imagine.
On his end, Kalen has to make a few adjustments to having a mate in his life. Not the least of which being that humans are emotional and things aren't black and white to them. Especially when it comes to those they feel responsible for.
No lie, I can't wait to see how the enigmatic assassin works his magic on his lady.
Allen is an alien medic from the ship, Judgement. He is sent to learn about terrain, human, biology. The commander's wife is human and pregnant. So, Kalen was sent to work with Meridan, a nurse. From the start, Kalen couldn't get the alure of Nurse Meridan out of his senses. She is everywhere, even the air. There was an attack on the Moon's space station and Meridan was very seriously injured. They had to put her into a regeneration tank. They were only geared for sangrin warriors, never for a human before. She was so badly injured, she was during. So, in she went. And it repaired all of her damage, new and old. Even removed her freckles and her old loop hold. Now, she could be matched and she was a 99.7%. And guess who she's matched to. Yep! She is mated to Kalen. Now, the war begins. You will have to read the book for the conclusion. There's give and take and learn on both sides. This is a book for adult reading, for sure.
I really wish a female was narrating these stories I think they would get the female emotions across better. I like Logan for the male voices don’t get me wrong it’s just the female voices that I have a hard time with. However, he did a wonderful job of narrating the story. Again, this isn’t on him it’s a me thing you know what I mean.
The story was longer than the first one with lots of detail which was missed in the first book. I have to say though the men seem like they are more assh0les than protectors. It’s like they choose to not understand their wives are different from them. But I’m sure their mothers had to have some sweet hearted ways too. It just feels like they have no idea what a female is in any since of the word. Like through out all of space not one female had emotions like earth females? I want to see what happens next so I will be getting the other books. Overall I would give this book a 3.3 stars
this book is not as good as the first but still a good read. The medic who saved Mercy from the previous book now has his story. He's sent away to do some additional learning about Terran (human) bodies. It's there that he meets a human nurse and becomes interested. She's barren. Which makes her disqualified for the mate match program. She also has a friend, Vox, who is trying to lay claim on her despite her harsh state. The story is a little slow but begins to pick up when the base is attacked. It becomes a little annoying at that point because it becomes a "whine fest" with Meridian and her sister shit how much they don't want to be matched, how they wish to stay together. What I did like was Meridan's fierce will to protect those who are not able to protect themselves. Starting with the little boy in the attack and then the little girl they found. She has a strong maternal instinct despite having been barren.
After reading the first one I dobe right into this one. Kelan had me very intrigued. Being a doctor for his own race, and seeing him find a mate would be fun.
Kelan was harder to get a read on. I really did like who he was as a man, but he was so stubborn at times, and a little awkward which was cute.
Meridan was very reluctant in fining a mate. And while I understood why it still irritated me. She was Kalens perfect match not matter how hard they fought it.
The plot was a little deeper then the first one but the author did a great job with all the aspects. I loved seeing more history of the aliens. There was a small plot of an age difference. Older woman, younger hero and I really liked that too
Overall, I could feel the author getting the hang of these characters and felt that it was written better then the first one. I can't wait to read the next one. 4 stars #2OCCJD
This started out ok but went downhill quickly. It felt soooooo long. Both MC’s were so frustrating. The push and pull was off and their personalities were inconsistent. It felt like two books mashed together. Their arguments last throughout the entire book. And they felt completely unnecessary. They didn’t talk. They made assumptions and then wouldn’t let each other explain. It was immature, especially after they spent so long with each other and getting to know each other’s personalities. And both MC’s were so stubborn that I truly disliked them, mostly the MFC. She felt so damn entitled and like what she said should be the final say even though she didn’t understand their world or culture or even the information about their species and others around them. She treated everything as black and white and I hated that. Aside from the annoying characters, the story was boring.
Kalen doesn’t want to be on the moon learning about human Biology but his warlord has order him there because of his human mate. But he meets Merdin a nurse that he is to work with. And right away they bump heads he has no bedside manner he talks to everyone like they are warriors. But their is something about her that just draws him in. After a severe injury that put her in a rio gen tube and fixed her. And I do mean fixed her. Now she’s matched to him to be his mate but she still not sure if she likes him. So enjoy the read and see what awaits them because there is still trouble to come!!
Warrior meets his Mate. This was an easy read about an alien physician named Kalen who meets his mate Meridan during an attack by big bad aliens called Suhlik. Meridan is a human obstetric nurse who doesn't think she has a mate because she has a medical exemption since she can't become pregnant. During the attack, Meridan was injured and then cured of all her medical issues to include previous scars and injuries. Kalen and Meridan become mates.
This book would have been a whole lot better if Meridan was not such a spoiled demanding female. She wanted Allen to always been to her will and she never tried to see things from his perspective. Kalen was e young warrior/doctor trying to earn respect and acceptance from his new clan. He was focused on his career and unexpectedly mated when he saved Meridan's life. He quickly embraced this new twist in his plans, but she didn't and constantly let him know.
I read the first book in the series before this one, it was decent. This wasn't that good. I really really didn't like the FMC, Marabell or her sister!!! Which is worse because her sister is the FMC of the next book in the series and I don't want to list to it because of that. However, the sister's warlord husband was in the first book, and I liked him in it. Deep sigh. I may come back to the series, but not right now.
Meridan has her life all fixed. Or so she thought. When Kalen shows for his two week course to the human female body things heat up. Then her life gets turned on it’s axis. She is now on a new path with a hunky younger alien of her very own. Then they get a crash course in a foundling of their very own.
This tasty sci-fi romance was a delectable adventure with a big, purple, slightly arrogant warrior Doctor and the sassy nurse human female he wants to claim. When these two stubborn and determined souls collide it will be a mating designed by fate or a complete disaster. An enjoyable page turner with an engaging story with Wonderful characters
I loved the Warlord series,(this is one too) but these books were on another platform that I worked hard on to read, (purchased by $ and time with stupid long ads) and now, I can't read them there anymore but have to BUY them to be able to read again on kindle. It why 2 stars. I've reread several repeatedly, but now I have to start from scratch? Great author, but I'm not sure I like how she does business. There's nothing like giving your loyal readers the bird. I wouldn't mind buying them on Kindle in addition to having them on the other platform, but I think this is crap.
what I loved about the book best is the way you get to u understand kalen. At first I did not really like him. He was gruff and grumpy and if he was my doctor I would not be pleased. As the book goes on you get to see how he changes and how much he cares for his mate. Just shows you shouldn't form judgments untill you know the whole story.
I thought I would take a little guilt trip down memory lane.
I actually purchased this kindle book two years ago. I really enjoyed reading it. Just so everybody knows I rarely read a book only one time. It is like meeting an old friend for lunch only with fewer calories
I enjoyed this, i think i left it too long since reading book one though as i can't remember anything from that story. Hopefully book three isn't too expensive and i don't have to wait so long between episodes.
Kalen is sent by his warlord to earth's moon to learn about human women. He will learn about bed side manner and how prickly human women can be, especially those pregnant. Meridan will teach him about human spirit and love. A love story with a good ending.
A longer read than the first... which is good... but there is still something missing for me... needs more character development... I still don't feel like I know who the Warriors of Sangrin really are.
I enjoyed this couple, and I loved the variety between this story and book one. I always get worried that things will be repetitive, but they weren’t. These two had a real push-pull in the beginning until they worked things out and that was interesting.
Meridian is my favourite kind of character: compassionate and feisty. Kalen is a warrior/ Doctor who is arrogant and insufferable. Somehow there is a romantic meeting of minds.
This book was fine, just not for me. Kalen is not to my taste. His bedside manner is atrocious and I know that he's meant to be hard to love, but unlike Meri, my heart did not grow fond of him over time. His lack of tact and overall lack of empathy was off-putting.
This story is about Kalen n Meridan. When the Mahdfel helped the humans fight the aliens who invaded Earth, there was one stipulation, all females were entered into a bride lottery when they came of age. Meridan was exempt after an attack. But Kalen starts to have intense pressure on his chest, he's not sure about these feelings because of her exemption. Never the less, the more he talks to her, he finds himself craving her presence. Kudos to the author for a wonderful series.
