BISHOP: A Space Age Post-Apocalyptic

Rate this book
A Space-Age Post-Apocalyptic Thriller with heart, grit, action, drama, a savage anti-heroine, a relentless enemy, and laden with twists!

Bishop died ending a ten-year war that nearly wiped out Humanity entirely. Or so she and the rest of the galaxy believed. Thirty years later, she’s awakened to rumors the enemy has returned.

But Bishop is not what survivors imagined. She’s not a paragon or even a true soldier. She’s a former convict and raider whose sole claim to history is based not in heroism but in battle lust and sheer defiance. Her intensity is intimidating to all but the team sent to help her complete her mission.

Among them stands the son of her former paramour, Ares. This shadow of her partner torments her as much as the villainous AI, which hounds their every step and has come to hunt her by name.

Bishop’s world is a decrepit ruin of Humanity’s former glory. Old friends are everything, and newcomers untested pups who stand little chance against the monstrous enemy and its Constructs. Bishop feels she’s the only one truly prepared for the brutality to come, but despite her contempt, she cannot face it alone. Shattering revelations aside, one thing remains Bishop would rather die fighting than run.

***** "Captivating. Riveting. Bishop lured me in, ensnared me, and wouldn't let me go. Not that I was putting up much of a fight. A mesmerizing book - I just couldn't put it down." -Phil D

***** “This is seriously unlike any story I’ve ever read! Truly authentic, original storytelling is hard to come by; this is groundbreaking. […] I couldn’t tear myself away from it!” -Kessa M

***** "A roller coaster joyride following a brutal, unflinching protagonist, out to save Humanity no matter the cost!" -Joe A

This book is easily one of my top reads of the year. The author did such an amazing job. I am not much of a sci-fi/space reader. But, I was drawn into this world immediately. Bishop, the FMC, and I became bffs after she spoke her first sentence. This is a strong FMC that I would want to hang out with IRL. I loved her humor and don't give a fudge attitude. I felt like the author didn't bog us down with too much information in regards to this futuristic world. She told us what we needed to know. I feel like some sci-fi books read like reference books and I never got that vibe from this book. I truly feel like anyone, regardless of their genre of choice, would enjoy this book. It's not often that an author can pull so much emotion from me and I read a lot of books. I was wrecked at the end of this book and hours later, I'm still trying to recover. If I could give it more stars I would. This is a serious underhyped book that needs more exposure!!

Firstly, I need to start this review by saying I have never read a sci-fi novel and this was my very first. And oh boy, was it a fantastic way to start!

We follow our badass FMC Bishop on her quest 30 years into the future to destroy an enemy she thought was long gone. Filled with thrilling edge of your seat scenes, betrayal, heartbreaking moments that will literally take your breath away—Bishop will be a story that’ll forever be on my mind.

Brit Knight’s creative and genius mind comes to life within these pages of this book. I cannot wait to devour anything and everything else this author writes.

Are you ready to follow into the unknown with this angry, trigger happy, strong badass woman? What are you waiting for? GO, hurry and go grab yourself a copy RIGHT NOW! You will not regret it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 1 🌶

This book shredded my soul in the best possible way. I’m still emotionally wrecked—and yet somehow already itching to dive back in.

Brit has this unmatched ability to make you fall in love with every single character, even the ones who break your heart. The connections, the raw emotion, the perfectly timed pain and healing... it’s masterful.

Bishop isn’t just a character. She’s an experience. A journey. A whole emotional rollercoaster you willingly board even though you know you’re not coming out the same.

✨️Battlestar Galactica X Mass Effect
✨️ Action-packed with a splash of romance
✨️ Found Family
✨️ SOB FEST

Brit Knight has officially become an auto-buy author, and I’m counting down the days until I can start Channelers.

And with that, I can finally say…
I SURVIVED BISHOP.

This book is incredible. It will take you on an absolute roller coaster literally through space and time but it is worth every second.
I was nervous about reading this book because I am a romantasy girl. I know what I like and I generally stick to it... but Bishop was truly worth the deviation. Genuinely one of my absolute favourites of the year. Incidentally, I picked it as book 100 of the year because I thought it would be fun to have a different genre to hit my target. It's it was 100% the best choice. I can't wait for more.

This is my first time ever reading a sci-fi thriller. I started out being a bit confused because I’m not used to the genre; however, I am hooked now! This was completely action packed, unpredictable, and unexpectedly heartbreaking. I was not expecting to cry but I think I cried about 4-5 times. It was SO GOOD. I definitely need to read more sci-fi thrillers and can’t wait to read more of the authors work!

Brit Knight takes you to a new world after a 10 year war and sucks you right into the story! This book had me hooked from the first chapter. Took me on twist and turns I wasn’t expecting. I fell in love with every character she introduced (mostly 😉). Truly a fantastic story about a bad-ass FMC and with a crew just as crazy!

Not my usual genre so I was a bit intimidated by this, but I’m SO GLAD that I read this! It was action packed with a BAD A$$ FMC! I really enjoyed the characters. The beginning took me just a bit to get into, but the ending was SO GOOD. All the emotions.

I can't say enough good things about this book. Bishop is the ultimate badass, and I absolutely loved reading her story. Brit Knight knows how to take you on a journey and make you feel every single emotion these characters feel. I was hooked from the very first chapter and did not want to put this book down. There's action, romance, a found family dynamic, and a hero/villain that will keep you hooked to the very end. And that plot twist! The one that had me yelling at the book in disbelief and left me completely shocked.

If you are a fan of the Mass Effect series, then you absolutely have to read this book!

I'm happy to be able to say that I survived Bishop, and I will 100% be jumping back in to read her story again and again!

I LOVED this book! That being said, it took me a while longer to read than most books. Not because it’s difficult or boring, but because the intensity was so high right from the beginning and i needed “rest” breaks for my sanity. It’s a literal non stop action post apocalyptic sci-fi thriller all in one. Bishop is a truly bad a$$ gritty FMC the likes of which I’ve never read before. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book, did NOT see the plot twist until it smacked me in the face and honestly, i wouldn’t have accepted any other ending. A true masterpiece considering it’s a stand alone book!

If you grew up watching Star Trek or Babylon 5, this book was written to continue those adventures.

I rated this a solid 4.5 stars, as it started with a battle that instantly got you in your feelings and from then until the end, Brit Knight, the author, kept that pace and excitement all the way up!

Bishop the FMC, and title character, is a fighting, rumbling product of her tough life. Always ready to share her punch first philosophy, it was easy for me to get attached to her, and understand why she was the way she was. If I ever need a rescue and I can call a fictional character, I would be fine if I called on her! LOL!

Another delicious aspect to this story was the found family. There were some friends from her past, some news ones, and then a couple surprises that made my jaw slacken as I read. I mean the book just keeps you on your toes, with events happening, decisions going to hell, and so much awesome action.

BUT!!!!! What really got me in the gut, was the villain. I will not give any spoilers. All I will say, is that the villain in this book, the monstrous enemy...will make your brain pause and start to rearrange itself as more is revealed along the way. To me that elevates this book from good to great!

With easy writing, and descriptions that make you feel like a part of the team, I really have nothing but joy from reading this book.
This was an exciting swim into the moral grey of humanity, one that left a helluva impression.

If you have never tried Sci-Fi before but want a good way to start....welcome, this book is it.
If you love Sci-Fi and want one of those stories that makes you disappear into it....this book is it.
If you want a good action adventure that is full of battles and solving inner turmoil with fists....THIS BOOK IS IT!
Read this one y'all...promise you will not regret it.

BISHOP had me from the beginning, that opening scene has a heavy impact and the story doesn't let go ever.

This post-apocalyptic book is full of amazing writing, the action sequences pack a punch and the characters stay with you.
Bishop's story starts with her dying to end a war... only to bring her back 30 years in the future to fight once more. This book deals with themes about trauma, war, found family and life purpose.
There also is romance in there but it's not the typical kind and main focus, which I loved.

BISHOP also asks deep questions:
Who are we as a person when all we ever know is war and loss?
How deeply can AI and robotic beings change the world?
How much power can technology hold?

And then there's the plot twist.
You need to experience it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Brit Knight for this eARC!

This book is about Bishop who nearly died ending a ten-year war that nearly wiped out Humanity. But she survived and wake up 30 years later, just to be pushed to another war between AI and humans. No time for Bishop to recover, regroup or grieve her former team. Will she succeed this time around and finish this war once and for all?Well I could not put this book down until I find out.

It's great sci-fi with action, adventure, badass MC and a little bit of romance.Higly recommend, grab your copy, lovers of sci-fi and constant action will love it.
I can't wait to read another book by this author.

Thank you netgalley and author for my copy.

Think Independence Day and Guardians of the Galaxy. Take the star-lord and make him female and you get Bishop, a badass solider female who will stop at nothing to win the war. The book started slow and then picked up pace quickly in intensity and kept me hooked. So much action and moving parts. A well-rounded cast of characters and you have a story unlike any other to keep you begging for me. This was my 1st sci-fi but definitely won't be my last.

Bishop is an epic sci-fi story that has thrilling action, thought-provoking themes, and immersive world-building. Knight is able to create a world in the future where advanced AI technology has profound implications for humanity. The action sequences are both thrilling and visually vivid as if watching a cinematic experience. The twists and turns in the plot are both surprising and heartbreaking. The characters are well-developed and relatable, making it easy to invest in their journeys. Bishop is a must-read for fans of space operas and thought-provoking science fiction!

🔥 5 Stars – Savage Sci-Fi Action with an Anti-Heroine You’ll Love!

Okay, BISHOP by Brit Knight absolutely wrecked me in the best way possible. If you love gritty, action-packed sci-fi with badass characters, intense battles, and a world that feels like Mass Effect meets Battlestar Galactica with a touch of The Walking Dead—you NEED this book.

Bishop isn’t your typical hero. She’s a former convict and war legend, but not because she was noble—nope, she survived through sheer ferocity and battle instincts. Thirty years after she died, she’s back, and the enemy she thought was gone is creeping in again. The problem? No one is as ready for the fight as she is. Watching her take charge of a team who have NO idea what they’re walking into was so satisfying. She’s ruthless, sharp, and has zero patience for nonsense.

The found family dynamic? Chef’s kiss. I loved how rough their connections started and how trust (and tension 👀) built over time. And the AI villain? Legit terrifying. Every confrontation had my heart racing.

Oh, and let’s talk about that plot twist. The one that left me staring at my wall in shock. The one that personally attacked me. Yeah. I’m still recovering.

If you love high-stakes sci-fi, morally gray characters, and stories that hurt so good, BISHOP is 100% for you. Read it. Then come scream about it with me. 🚀🔥

For all of my Sci-Fi fans, this book needs to be on your TBR. Let me start off by saying Brit Knight is amazing and so passionate about Bishop, which she has every right to be, because Bishop is also amazing and a certified badass. My favorite things about this book were the prologue, the font and the chapter names. There’s Love, Vengeance, Betrayal, Found Family, War, AI’s, Loss… I can’t guarantee you’ll end up crying, but I did. Bishop was perfect and is someone to look up to when you need the push to get through the hard things life throws at you. What a wonderful book and a wonderful author.
