Ménage à 3 Round 2

Rate this book
29-year-old virgin Gary thought his luck with women might be changing when he replaced his noisy gay roommates with the sweet, buxom DiDi and petite, devilish Zii. Hahahano.

Zii has promised to help Gary lose his virginity, but wants DiDi for herself. Zii also frets over Gary's involvement with her own ex, the fiery Japanese comics scriptwriter Yuki, who wants Gary for his art skills and wants Zii back for her trembling gooseflesh.

Though her comic-shop job is a step down from her glory days as a musician, Zii has had partial success with DiDi, opening DiDi's mind to the possibility of dating girls... just in time for DiDi to develop a crush on her freckled co-worker, Sandra. Whoops.

And Gary's ex-roommates, Matt and Dillon, have just had a messy breakup, leaving Dillon to seek solace in Gary's home... and arms, and lips, and various other body parts, if he can just talk Gary into it.

All caught up? Good! Now grab some skin and dive on in!

I've been doing webcomics for quite a while now. I published my first project, Cool Cat Studio, back in 2000. Since then, I've worked/collaborated on many webcomics, such as Penny & Aggie (first artist,) Ménage à 3 (Rated R/NSFW,) Eerie Cuties, Magick Chicks, and Sticky Dilly Buns. Most of these comics are part of Pixie Trix Comix. On occasion, I do penciling work for Archie Comics, e.g., Archie #635, #636, #639 & # 646. I sometimes do covers and little stories in the digests as well.

Before comics, I was a graphic designer who worked at Avenue Design Group in Ottawa. I would design logos, layout ads for newspapers... stuff like that. And before THAT, I was a bassist in the Quebec all-girl band, Barbarella. This was early 1990s, when I was in my early twenties (I was born June 16, 1970.)

Schooling wise, I did my high school at l'ESN in Bathurst, NB. I studied Visual Arts for a year at l'Université de Moncton, and I got a college degree in graphic design from La Cité Collégiale in Ottawa.

I've lived in New Brunswick (still do,) Montreal, Ottawa/Gatineau, and even Schefferville! (Google it)

My strongest influence as a comic artist is Dan DeCarlo, but cartoonists like Jim Davis, Uderzo, Rumiko Takahashi, and Yumiko Igarashi have also influenced me, and given me the drive to do what I do. Music influences me too. The Pixies and Cheap Trick have had a great impact on me. So did Kiss back in the 1970s.

It's so dirty and funny and inappropriate all over the place - and it's so good! The art is lovely, and the characters are all distinct and have their roles to play. Once you start reading, you just keep going and before you know it, you've hit the end of a volume!

[This review is for volumes 1-8, which I read at a lightning pace because they are all so good]
Discovered this series while browsing a comixology sale and was drawn by the art and the humor. I kept going after the first volume because of that plus the character development. Though I suppose by character development I mean character temperaments because we don't know a whole lot about these characters aside from their sexual experiences and proclivities. I will confess that I am a bit prudish when it comes to my own sexual mores, so almost everything that happens is pretty far outside of my own experience and comfort zones. However, the characters are just so likeable and accessible and human that I am still able, somehow, to access the ongoing events through them.
I found myself rooting for their success in life and relationships despite how they all consistently get in their own and each others' way in their pursuit of fulfillment (as we all do). They support each other and care for each other, and when they don't they seem to be open to seeing each other in a way that will facilitate a better relationship, even if that means hopping into the sack with them (I'm looking at you, Sonya and Yuki). I'm looking forward to volume 9!

More shenanigans featuring the three most unlikely sex-crazed roommates and their even more sex-crazed friends.
Of the three in bed, the cat looks the most surprised to be caught.
“Don’t worry your tight little buns about that.” Not the character I expected to say that. . . no, never mind, just not the one I wanted to.
Zii’s makeout warmups are hilarious.
Smartest stripper ever!
Ah, that proctologist excuse. . .
Of all the musical acts in the world, Red Hot Chili Peppers having a wardrobe malfunction would be the last choice. . . except for maybe the Red Hot Chili Pipers.
Wow, that Charlie Brown parody. . . no words.
“Didi’s not in this? Bah, I’ll come back when you’re done.” Get out of my mind, dude.
Over three hundred pages in the first two volumes, all those opportunities, all those girls. . . and he still can’t get laid. . .
4.5 pushed up to 5/5

More ridiculous sex comedy antics, their existence in the 21st century largely guaranteed by the female gaze (and yes, you can spell that both ways - but then you can do most things both ways in this book). Slightly amazed that DC let them get away with not disguising the names and costumes more in the am-dram Gotham City Sirens production which provides the book's climax, not to mention several other climaxes.

This is a very sexy series, and if anything the sex in this volume was amped up from the first.

At its heart this is a comedy series, but the art and situations are so sexy it's also very erotic. Think the show "Three's Company" if it was more pornographic and there were more characters involved and everyone was bisexual. Quite the description but that's sort of what this is.

If you are looking for some sexy art mixed with comedy, this is great.

Dang. That's one of the funniest books I've read in like ever. Funny as in I couldn't stop laughing. Funny as in I . . . let's not get into that.

Gary, Didi, Zii continue to live together in an apartment, apparently also with Dillon, since his boyfriend cheated on him and has been sleeping in Gary's bed. Gary's still trying to stop being a virgin. And has been randomly kissing people so he could get better at kissing. Meanwhile he is working on a comic with Yuki, who is madly in love with Zii. And. Um. Stuff happened. What, I can barely breath at the moment from all the laughing. I can't think straight enough to write a review.

This is where MA3 really gets rolling. A few new characters are introduced, some side characters are given bigger stories, and the goals and ambitions of many of the leads develop more fully. This isn't yet my favorite point in the MA3 storyline, but it's quickly approaching what I think is the best of it.
