Trauma to Truth is an inspirational, moving collection of poetry and prose that documents a journey through trauma to truth. It tells a story in lessons start to finish and how it is possible to go from recovery to starting the discovery of who you can become.. It begins with Trauma and how it was personally viewed and moves through the process of unpicking, un-ravelling, highlighting the highs, lows and all the emotions in between. it covers anger, domestic abuse, drug addiction, grief, love and loss, finally finishing with forgiveness and finding yourself. It is a raw and honest account of one woman's story to share, that there is in fact light at the end of the tunnel and you do not have to be defined by your past.
Profoundly vulnerable, heartbreaking, inspiring and Powerful. This is a journey of healing and hope. A visceral dive into the soul. A reminder that even in our darkest moments, the light is never lost - Jennifer Leigh Pezzano - author of The Life We Dream of
Claire lives in the south of the U.K with her 2 young adult children and 5 crazy cats.
She has used poetry her whole life to document thoughts, feelings and emotions that can't always be put into spoken words.
Her spiritual practices , meditating, giving gratitude every single day and Mindfulness have added greatly to her creativity, she believes in the universal powers that be and of course the magic in everyday!
Claire has many interests and has several qualifications under her belt in therapeutic services , having a keen interest in psychology and aiding others in their recovery.
Claire loves nature, the beach, a lover of music and a regular concert goer. Claire loves travelling and exploring but is happiest surrounded by family and friends and as an avid reader, curled up with a good book!
As a reader I love to read almost anything but favorite genres are fantasy, cozy mysteries, general feel good stories, those centered around magic and a good old modern , non cheesy romance
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review as part of the book tour hosted by Zooloos Book Tours.
Trauma To Truth is a beautiful book of poetry about one woman's journey to healing from trauma. Claire journey is a journey built with strength to get her out of the darkness and back into the light. Many of the poems will resonate deeply with the reader. This is more than a book of poems. This is an inspiring journey from a woman who transformed herself from a victim to a survivor, like a phoenix out of the ashes! Claire is such a brave woman to share this journey with us, and I admire her strength and determination, which bleeds through each page! Trigger warnings; Addiction, PTSD, sexual assault.
First I would like to thank Claire for the ARC copy of this beautiful book.
Please note that this book involves triggers: DV, PV, Sexual Assault, PTSD, Addiction
I’m not reading a lot of poetry, but maybe I should read it more cause there are some talented writers out there. Before you think that this book is just poetry, it is definitely not. Trauma to Truth takes you on the Journey of Claire. From a young age till now, she has known Trauma through different traumatic experiences in her life. This story is raw, emotional and just captures you. The book is built on her life lessons learned followed by some strong and beautiful poems. I loved how she explained her journey to recover and discover herself. The writing style is so honest and pure, that you feel her pain, but her victories as well. It's very clear that she doesn't want to be seen as a victim but as a strong woman who made mistakes in her past, who'choices weren't always the best, but worked very hard to change that. She worked hard on herself. Walking away from toxic people in your life is a very hard and brave thing to do. Now, with a lot of things that happened to her, I don't believe that was on her, but I respect the way she thinks and feels and uses that in her journey to recovery and discovery.
A defined must-read for people struggling with their mental health, trauma recovery or discovery, as Claire her story will show that there is light on the end of that dark tunnel you are going through!!
Wow. This was absolutely beautiful. Robinson is inspiring, raw, open, and honest while writing through her journey from trauma to truth. And within this journey she finds and exemplifies strength. While no two journeys are the same, there are some pieces of herself with which I relate. I related to putting on a false face and pretending that things are okay, when inside I am dying inside, and I related to wanting to always feel like I want to belong. All the prose and poetry are fantastic; I especially loved Trauma Clock, Salt, Retreat, stones, and Pieces of You. One in particular left me hurting for her and I found myself in tears and that was Tummy Ache. I wanted to reach through the book and give her a hug. I don’t usually read poetry books, but I am glad to have picked this one up. Claire has become a friend, and now I feel like I know even more about her. There is something in this book for everyone, and everyone should pick it up and read it.
I was given a copy to review for a book tour. My reviews are always honest and all opinions are my own. #TraumatoTruth #ClaireLouiseRobinson #ZooLoosBookTours #BookTourReview #Poetry #ZooLoo #BookReview #gifted #ad
I have to say Trauma to Truth is unlike anything I have ever read before. A moving and heartfelt collection of poetry and prose that documents the tough journey through trauma to truth. The book is broken down into lessons with each one hosting a collection of honest, vulnerable, heart-breaking, powerful and inspiring collections within each section. It should be honest? that this one comes with some triggers namely anger, domestic abuse (both physical and mental), drug addiction, violence, grief and loss. But it also shows the other side of coming through these moments. It shows love, power, forgiveness, acceptance and perhaps most of all self love and awareness leading to the ultimate truth after the trauma.
Claire Louise Robinson does not hold back. This is equally a very raw and visceral account of her life and the traumas she has suffered but more than that it is a road map of how through her truth she made it through. At the core it is about hope, healing and the light that can be found at even the darkest times.
One thing I found myself thinking while reading was how brave and inspirational Robinson is, not only has she gone on this difficult journey and come out the other side but she is sharing it now with the world in such an open way. It was incredibly moving at sections so much so that it did take a couple of sittings to get through but it is a beautiful book that truly reminds us that no matter what you always have hope to make it through. I particularly loved the letter to her future self at the end which seemingly rounded off the whole book in such a perfect and poignant way. For anyone who as struggled with trauma this book I have no doubt will be an aid to them. I know that it inspired me from just one reading. It can be tough to read at some points, as I say Robinson does not hold back anything and her honesty is what I think makes this all the more powerful, but it is most definitely worth it.
Let me start by wishing Claire Happy Publication Day! It finally here and your book is now out in the world, congratulations 🥂
This is a very personal insight into Claire’s life and it is very brave to bare your soul so openly and honestly as this, but done in such a beautiful way.
Parts of her traumas to recovery hit very close to the bone for me personally, so I have no doubt that this book will resonate with others as well, some deeper than others.
With that said it does take you on a journey through the dark and back into the light and that will undoubtedly give people both hope and strength within their own lives.
Even though some of the poetry deals with traumas they are so beautifully written they don’t weigh you down. If anything they do the opposite, finding them to be very cathartic in As I’ve said, today, 7 April 2023 is publication day and is being self published. I will include links to where you can purchase a copy of Trauma to Truth for yourself. I highly recommend it, even if poetry isn’t your thing, and full disclosure, poetry certainly isn’t normally mine either! BUT…… this one really hit me in the feels and sucked me right in, so much so I finished it in one sitting the first time!
Reading it for the second time I could really take my time, reading each one at my own leisure and a lot of them will stay with me forever!
So, grab yourself a copy now and you will soon see for yourselves what I am talking about.
I was honoured to be a Beta Reader for Trauma to Truth, and I have taken quite some time to write a review as it was important to me to find the right words to do it justice
Trauma to Truth is a raw, honest, and vulnerable account of Claires' journey. She takes us from the very beginning, through her healing journey, and lets us witness her rise from the ashes.
This beautifully written book takes you deep inside Claires' experiences, which many of us can relate to, as she stands completely in her truth.
I love the way Claire has beautifully used poetry throughout the book to express how she's feeling. It provides a potent layer and really enables the reader to relate to her emotional journey
Trauma to Truth is a powerful read and will provide anyone going through a different time with hope and strength that better days are coming. Thank you so much, Claire, for being brave enough to share your inspirational story.
This is a collection of prose and poetry which has been difficult to read, given the content, but shows such a worthwhile journey for the writer and for anyone who is needing to not feel alone.
There are some extremely personal and traumatic details in the narrative so please do be careful of the trigger warnings.
I read this cover to cover and it was a journey. The author takes us on their very personal account from childhood to now and allows us a peek into what has shaped them over those years.
It covers childhood traumas, losing their way and their fight to take control and begin their road to recovery.
I love the mix of prose details then interspersed with poems that account that particular topic. This works really well as often with really personal poetry, it can sometimes be hard to know what was going on in their mind at the time of writing. This presentation allows us more insight into the mind of the author.
I think this would be an amazing read for anyone who is struggling to make that leap into recovery or anyone starting their own journey to find themself. Knowing that others feel the same or have similar thoughts really does make a difference.
I loved this book. It's a honest and inspiring journey of one women that has been through abuse, grief, love and loss and came through it. Claire has put all her emotions into poetry and shares them with others that have been or going through what she has. Everyone will be able to relate with something in this book and will take something away
This collection of poetry along with the background story and reflection is beautifully written- it’s honest, raw, encouraging and inspiring. Just wow! Claire Robinson’s journey from trauma to truth is tough and devastating at times, but she shows so much bravery, resilience and growth - recognising and acknowledging her emotions and actions linked to traumatic events in her life- sharing the truth and lessons Learned from them. While not everyone’s life journey is the same - there are poems that I found relatable and will be to many others too. ‘Nanny’ is a beautifully written poem that expresses the pain that death of a loved one brings, but the love and admiration held for that person- sadly so relatable. I love the energy and positivity in ‘Better me’ and can truly relate to ‘false face ‘ - pretending that things are okay, when inside I’m feeling far from this. ‘Tummy Ache’ is so powerful and such an emotional read too. There are so many others that are brilliantly written. I highly recommend this stunning anthology.
This book, filled with both poetry and prose, does a wonderful job of producing emotion in the reader. Robinson’s words resonated with me. Kudos to her for taking very difficult life events and, by doing the hard work of wrestling with one’s demons, creating a beautiful book and a stable fulfilling life
The author does not hold back in this raw and honest account. I don’t usually read poetry, but the way she delivers her words with the background and the flow, makes it read like a story. It was an incredible journey and although it must have been difficult to write and share, you can feel how cathartic it is. Some of my favorites:
“I will not let you steal my dreams.. as you created my nightmares.”
“The forgiveness I am talking about here, is for myself. For my own peace of mind.”
And the self-titled poem, Claire, where she is speaking to her younger self.
This poetry book is one of my favorite of all time, it is written by a very good friend of mine. She went through trauma and so have I in my lifetime. She has also been there for me when times have been rough in my life and always checks in on me. Her heart shines through in every page in this book and actually she’s one of the first indie artist that has ever felt relatable to me. I used to love poetry when I was a little girl and I can honestly say that Claire got me back into reading poetry as an adult as well, I highly recommend this poetry book and give it five stars!
Thank you Claire for allowing me to read your work!
My thoughts: I believe that many people experience trauma at some point in their lives and that can look different for everyone. How you deal with it is your very personal decision. Claire’s book is her journey of navigating through her trauma through writing. You can feel her experience within her words. Her raw emotion is definitely felt from some of her passages.
A few that resonate with me are: “Retreat” and “Combating the F Word” (Not that F word)
Retreat talks about stepping away and basically taking time for yourself. Not that you don’t love or support your people but YOU need a minute to check in with yourself.
Combating the F Word- Talks about the fear of failure. Boy does that hit home!! I have a few hobbies that I love so much but I keep them mainly to myself because of my fear of failure.
This is a very powerful book and was beautifully done.
This collection is deep, thought provoking & touching. The author's journey through trauma, pain & hurt, loss and recovery is spilled through every rhyming piece of poetry and prose read in this book. I especially like the pieces: Mud, Just One More, The mountain & Better me!
Reading this made me step back and think about my own life as I had some similarities. I found myself with tears in my eyes multiple times due to these poems and having that connection really hit home!
The passages and poems in this book are all very emotional and personal to the author, and you can feel every bit of it. The poem Tummy Ache hit especially hard for me. Beautifully written.
Trauma to Truth is a poetry memior. The author separates the poetry into lessons relating to her life and experiences.
I am a poetry nerd, and when I saw the different lessons and explanations between the poems I was in awe! I absolutely loved being able to read between the lines and understand the origins of the writing.
Everything in this book was absolutely beautiful, every single word. She managed to take her trauma and poured it into a song unsung.
Thank you Claire, for allowed the world to read your writing, and to understand your life as it played out. You are amazing :)
I’ll be honest and say this is not the type of book I usually go for, but I was wowed and amazed at the openness the author uses throughout. Her raw take brings you into her life through her eyes and you can feel what she was feeling. Will definitely be recommending and looking for more from this author.
The author, Claire, her story resonated in me. I found so many similarities between her experiences and my own. Each chapter consists of a story at the beginning and her poetry following that. I loved the way the author told us what she was going through during the time she wrote these poems. It added a vision that carried you through, I could see her writing these at the time. Her poetry was raw and unfiltered, you can feel her emotions in each line. She’s a great author and a strong person to survive her experiences. This was a quick read. Although the book is not lengthy, it has depth and growth only another survivor can see.
This was a brutally honest book about Claire’s journey through years of abuse and addiction to be where she is today. It was eye opening, heartbreaking, and healing all at the same time. I admire the courage it took to not only write these feelings and experiences down, but to share them with others as well.
I rounded up, but I would rate this book 3.5/5 stars.
Claire takes us on her journey to healing from trauma via her deeply resonating poetry.
It's beautifully written, hard hitting in parts, raw and inspiring.
But it's not just a poetry book. Claire takes us down her path in life, from a young age through different traumatic experiences in her life until now.
We hear her story as she makes her way from the deepest darkness, into the light, like a phoenix emerging from the flames.
Claire, I applaud your bravery in sharing your experiences with us and I'm so glad you did.
Your writing brought tears to my eyes, but also made me smile.
Thank you for taking the time to send me a copy. It's now on my poetry shelf among some of the greats.
This author laid her heart bare for for us, she shared her pain and trauma for us to cry alongside her , then brought us along while she stitched her wounds closed. This is beautiful, in the way that the sunshine is after a storm.
This was a quick but informative read. Reading how others deal with trauma makes things more clear for me. I suffer to suffer from trauma. A lot of it is unresolved and I'm trying to find the right person to help me. Reading this book though I felt like the author was describing myself now while I didn't turn to drugs I use other ways to cope with my trauma none of which are good though. I'm way to nice, I'm a pushover a doormat I would rather be that than stir up trouble or make someone upset. I use spending money I don't have or credit cards I shouldn't use to make me feel better then can't figure out what is wrong with me. I want to be liked and accepted so badly!! You don't realize all the different forms trauma can come in. I loved the poems in this book as well they were so good !! We as humans are always a work in progress. I hope I can find my help I need to deal with my trauma and live happy. Thank you for being so valuable and writing such a powerful book!!!
The fact that the author is honest about how long it took her to write the book is what drew me in. Also how intriguing is that book cover.
#Every single poem had me feel the emotions behind thos words. Retreat and Unearthed were my favourites. I can absolutely feel my tears while reading “forgiveness is nourishing”.
It is not escapism it is not blame game it’s just stating the truth. It is expressing without asking anything in return. It is a book of poetry but if you read between the lines could definitely be a self help book.
The personal stories written by the author makes every poem so much more alive. Everything makes sense. The writing is so pure and innocent and raw it feels like the author was talking to me.
If you are someone who supports self published authors or want to read some easy poetry this book is definitely for you. It’s only £2.99 on kindle.
I really love the cover photo of this book. It is simple yet attractive. It contains a beautiful collection of poems based on a woman's journey to healing from trauma.
The author through her flawless writing skills has captured my heart. She has penned down each of her emotions so well through the poems. She has talked about her life and different traumatic events of her life. There is no drama in her writing. Everything is raw and unfiltered and you can actually feel what she has gone through in her life. It is a journey towards Self-discovery and Self-exploration.
I really loved reading her path towards healing from trauma. It could actually be an inspiration to so many other women who are going through the same thing. This book is not like other poetry books which I have read. It is literally a life experience which has been penned down in poetic verses.
I will definitely recommend this book to all the poetry lovers. Grab your copy today guys.
This book was so heartbreaking, powerful, inspiring, and vulnerable. It shows that there is light at the end of the tunnel when you're in the most darkest of places. Claire was so raw in her poems and notes within this book that I could truly feel her emotion. I could relate with some of the topics.
Thank you to Zoe at @zooloosbooktours and to the author for giving me a chance to read and review this raw and intimate poetry collection.
This book approaches a very deep, dark subject in the aim of healing, both writer and reader. I loved a childhood nearly the same as the writer, from what was shared in the opening chapter, which gave me even further connection to the words, but you can connect through any type of trauma, and use the words to begin the healing process. The book is easy to approach, set out in sections, poem by poem. It was better to read from start to finish, as you can truly feel the change, the healing and hope, as the words carry forward. However, you can find healing and comfort even if you dip in and read one poem here and there. They are short and easy access, meaning you can jump in and really find truth and hope in even the shortest snippets of time. Overall, this is a powerful and lovely book, that offers the path of healing and hope.
Today I’m posting about unique books only, or so it seems! This one was so, so special! The author has poured her heart and soul into this book. It is beyond beautiful. I honestly have no idea how do I even begin describing it, as it feels somehow wrong to describe it in any way whatsoever. This is filled with the raw and unfiltered essence of the human being. This is a collection of shorter and longer writings of the author as she was healing, growing, and becoming who she is now. It is filled with so much emotion, so much of it. And it is beautiful, it is incredibly beautiful. I just want to thank both the author and zooloosbooktours for allowing me to take a look inside this reality-filled world of becoming, overcoming, growing, and being.
My goodness this is a deep book. I am a big believer in poetry as therapy, both the creation of it and the reading of it. To me, it’s the perfect way for us to tell our stories, tales of a life lived and all the emotions we have experienced. There are several trigger warnings for this collection - domestic abuse, rape, grooming, drugs, loss, grief. It is a deploy personal collection. An outpouring of hurt and trauma but ultimately a story of survival. I found it extremely moving and some parts resonated hard with me. A difficult, heart hurting read in places but a worthwhile one. Thank you Claire for your honesty, your ability to verbalise your pain and for sharing your trauma to facilitate the healing.
