Books, such as The Natural Superiority of Women (1953), of Ashley Montagu, originally Israel Ehrenberg, a British-American, helped to popularize anthropology.
As a young man, he changed his name to "Montague Francis Ashley-Montagu". After relocating to the United States, he used the name "Ashley Montagu."
This humanist of Jewish ancestry related topics, such as race and gender, to politics and development. He served as the rapporteur or appointed investigator in 1950 for the The Race Question, statement of educational, scientific, and cultural organization of United Nations.
The book provides(really?) you to look cultered. It gives tips and you swallow them, snap! Knowing what are vitamins makes you cultered "man". In that point, i really want to read his book about "woman" pulibshed earlier, in 1952. According to goodreads reviews, his main argue in that book(the natural superiority of women) is biological superiority of women. Iet me enlighten you, they can give a birth! That's why they are superior than men. Nevertheless i do not give a review to a book thata i did not read(the book about women).
Returning "The Cultured Man", i really like books that try to give you knowledges like as pills. They are like sheets that you make to see framework of things. He categorized his candies like archeology, botanic, opera, economics..
At the end of review i want to add a question in category "sex differences";
Q: Should women receive the sam e education as man? A: No.
He could be an humanist but definitely not a fan of gender equality. And this book mostly influenced by his opinion of genders.
