The Bleeding Hearts Club
After being bombarded by her best friend with news of a matchmaking single’s retreat, Mina tries to look at the bright side. A week of sun, sand, relaxation, fruity cocktails, shirtless guys, and all the free time to read her favorite romances. Her plans, however, are derailed at the airport after a mix up leads her to meet Theo, the adorably goofy, “guy next door” type. She can’t get away from him fast enough. This is also my first ever real book review and I'm not really great at putting things into words at all...but I'm going to give it a shot because it is well deserved...lol!
This is amazingly fun read!
A great little book just in time for Summer, for those of us who are impatiently waiting for the Fall and Halloween season and may find ourselves on a beach somewhere looking for something fun and witty to read.
It has the summer time vibes with all the Halloween charms...lol!
The banter and sarcasm between Mina and Theo is just🤌🏻...
This is also duel perspective, which I love.
I love getting to know what is going on in the minds of both Mina and Theo.

OH THEO HOW I LOVE YOU 🥰❤️
This was one of the sweetest novellas I have ever read and it has everything to do with Theo (new book boyfriend maybe????) he was such a sweet character and I loved being in his head, especially when they first met at the airport and he’s congratulating himself on how “smooth” he was with Mina.
The plot to this story was unique because it’s set up like a dating contest where the contestants can find love but ✨plot twist✨ the contestants are monsters but Mina is unaware of this fact and is the only human. I would have loved to see more clarification on that aspect because it’s mentioned throughout the story that her friend signed her up but I would like to know how her friend even knows about this; could she be a monster??
As for the spice you don’t get a lot of it until the end when they are finally coming together as a couple. It felt like it was paced well even with it being sort of an insta-love on one side and intrigue on the other.
This is the authors first publication and I must say that I adored it, aside from a few grammatical errors the story was amazing and easy to follow along.

This book was so cute and funny but also too short!
I love that Theo is a little more folklore accurate when it comes to vampires. (I've been researching vampire folklore for fun since I was in 5th grade.) And he's so freaking adorable.
Probably the only thing that bugs me, and this is just a personal thing, is Mina wearing tight fitting clothing. But again, this is a personal thing. I'm not only fat but I'm Autistic and tight fitting clothing bugs me on a "BAD SENSORY IMPUT" level. While I'm not a brunette, young goth woman with pierce nipples, I am fat and short. So I can kind of identify with her. (But I'm going to be 47 in September so I'm middle aged and bottle blonde and only my ears are pierced, though I do have two tattoos so that's got to count for something, right?) But again, that's just because of ME, not something the author really needs to worry about.
I just wish it was longer and we knew more about Mina's history and about her friend, Lou.
Man, I wish I had a Lou in my life who'd rig things up so I could meet a hot vampire who likes fat chicks too.

I could not put this down! I was obsessed with from the beginning!! Theo was the cutest and I absolutely LOVED him. My only complaint was that it was short and that’s only because I didn’t want it to end. 😅 I can’t wait to see what’s next! Hopefully this isn’t the last we see of Mina and Theo! 🩷 I received this book as an arc.

This was so friggin adorable. I loved how Theo was so needy and cute. He wanted Mina to be his and I loved that he didn’t have to trick her or force her hand like some other romances have in the past. This may be a monster romance but it is NOT dark. This is as fluffy as it could be and I loved it so much.
From the music to the jokes, did a Zillennial write this because I feel like it’s such a specific time for tastes, that I relate to this story and all the sweet jokes and references so well.
I also love that Theo was technically a brand new vamp. He was only 10 years into his new eternal life. And it’s a nice change from the hundred year old vampires most books have.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE I wish we got more information on Lou and if she was a witch or not. It sounded like she was and maybe that’s why Mina wasn’t so surprised that Theo was a vampire. But then she was so surprised that dragons and werewolves existed as well? It didn’t make sense, I wish that was explained more.
FAVORITE QUOTES: “Don’t worry, Mina. I’ve got you. I’ve always got you.” She looks up at me with surprise in her eyes. They soften as they lock on mine and “I Miss You” begins to play through the speakers.
HEAT LEVEL: 2/5 It was mostly sweeter than anything. There is vampy monster sex but isn’t too explicit.
PUSH/PULL: For sure Mina was pushing Theo away and then Theo pulled away for one moment but Mina came and brought him back.

The Bleeding Hearts Club is a very fun meet-cute style novella! It follows Mina, a surly and curvy gal with a heart that's been past scorned, and Theo, the most golden retriever-y sunshine man of a vampire. They finds themselves at a beach resort for a dating convention-type of thing. Only Mina has no idea everyone around her is a supernatural creature of some kind.
Mina can be... tough to like at first. At least, that's how it was for me. She's very aggro towards Theo and given her rough dating past, I get it... but also sometimes she's being downright mean for what feels like no reason towards our boy which made it hard to sympathise with her. Theo, on the other hand, is a ray of sunshine and I LOVE how Morgan does vampires in this, leaning into the more monstrous aesthetics. This is for the MONSTER LOVERS. I adore it. And I adore Theo.
"I'll follow this girl to the ends of the Earth and beyond. She was made for me in ever possible way and I won't let her go. If that makes me creepy, oh fucking well, I can't not try." -Theo.
The pacing was good, it's a fun read and I really can't wait to see what Morgan does next! The spice is also pretty good!

Got me out of a reading slump
This book was short and sweet and so cute. I would absolutely love to arc read for anything else Morgan Blackwell publishes in the future. It was a quick read that made me genuinely love the characters. I’ve never read a book about a vampire with golden retriever energy but she captured that completely.
Mina the FMC is living her best monster romance life, and does everything is smug readers would do if given this opportunity.
Theo the MMC was honestly so cute to read about, his reactions to Mina’s thoughts made me genuinely laugh out loud at times. Him considering his BFF his “pet” once a month was golden.
The only thing I wasn’t too keen on was how the drama part of the book played out. It almost seemed like a drastic reaction to such a small thing and it lost me for a moment. But everything else about this book I loved.

Cute
I’m not even sure what on Earth I just read or why I pre-ordered it…but…it was cute. Rushed. Not a whole lot of characterization. But it was funny in places. Too short at 115 pages.

Yeah, yeah okay. I'll bite 😉😂 I would have read a 500 page book of these two, probably, haha. This was so cute 😂 i cringed a couple of times, but i laughed so much 😂 had me kicking my feet a little too😂 10/10 😂

This was SO much fun and I was literally grinning like a fool the entire time. I loved all the vampire references and the banter between Theo and Mina. I loved this so much and honestly I’m dying for more of them!

this was cute lol super wacky and not one bit rooted in rational thought but it was a fun read and got a good laugh out of me several times. it's not realistic by anyone's standards but once you accept that, it's a good time

This book… oh my god. I loved it so much. I devoured it in less than a day. I am an absolute sucker for cinnamon roll monsters and Theo was just adorable! This book was so funny and cute. Theo is awkward and endearing and just writing this review is making me already want to reread it.
