Growing up, Cat believed she would never amount to anything, reduced to being a shadow sheltered from the outside world. When her parents go missing under suspicious circumstances, Cat finds herself crowned queen.
The transition into power is not smooth. With her father’s council threatening to overthrow her and a group of extremists rumoured to be cruelly mutating demons to build an army capable of taking down the mysterious Fourth Kingdom – Cat does not have many supporters.
In an attempt to secure her reign, she accepts the proposal from the new Lord of Demorai Island – Jesperin Ulara – a known criminal. Though she finds him infuriating, the two of them grow close when they realise a common goal - bringing down the mutators and finding a cure for their strange and brutal creations.
