Former Special Forces soldier Luke Willard is used to life in the shadows. When his latest mission requires infiltrating a sex-trafficking ring in Mexico and rescuing three American teenagers, the last thing he expects is a hot-headed journalist to have tracked them down herself. Her sinful curves and gorgeous eyes capture his attention, but it’s her smart mouth that will lead to nothing but trouble.
Journalist Wren Martin knows her sister didn’t simply vanish. Tracking her online activity, Wren discovers she’s being held in Mexico and uncovers more than she ever bargained for. When a team of highly-trained soldiers stage a rescue, she doesn’t expect to feel something for the muscular, commanding man who makes her heart race and promises to keep her safe.
Rescuing the teenagers only solves one problem. The evil men who Wren watched now want her dead, before the truth she’s discovered can ever come to light. Asking for Luke’s help isn’t a problem, but falling for him might be. Can she trust a former military man not to break her heart?
Luke, a standalone novel, is book three in the Shadow Ops Team series.
Five stars for the story/four stars for the length=4 and 1/2 stars. Luke, the third book in the Shadow OPS Team series by Makenna Jameison, is a sweet read. Journalist Wren Martin is desperately looking for her teenage sister who has been kidnapped by traffickers. Her search leads her to Cancun, Mexico, and the evil men involved. Unknown to Wren, Luke and his team are there as well and have been tasked with finding several missing girls who are believed to have been sold along with her sister. The two meet; of course, it’s spicy, but even more surprising is that the comfort and rightness of the attraction shocks both of them. The first order of business is to rescue Wren’s sister and the other girls, the second is to date and see if the fascination between them is real, and the third is to rescue Wren. Yes, the evil ones are angry at her interference, and in tying up loose ends, kidnap her too. Luke and his team must save Wren before she is harmed or sold herself. The book is good, but short. I would have liked to see more detail/explanation of the other girls’ trials to create more depth to the story; however, it was a great pairing of Luke and Wren. They are perfectly matched and a joy to know.
The third book in Makenna Jameison's Shadow Ops series is superb. Great suspense and action along woth a slow burn romance make for exceptional reading. The Shadow Ops team is called 8n for not one but two missions involving abducted and trafficked teens. Luke Willard and crew navigate the crowded streets, bars and resorts looking for clues and suspects. Wren Morgan is doing the exact same thing because her sister is among those missing. It's rather foolhardy on her part but she can't sit by and do nothing. From their first meeting it's evident there's a spark between the two of them but now is not the time to act on it. By comparing notes and swapping information bot Wren and the teams get closer to finding the teens. The wait is nerve-wracking and becomes volatile at times as the team gets closer. Being with Luke makes Wren feel safe and he has every intention that she stays that way. Once the op is complete and life moves toward normalcy Luke and Wren begin to have the relathey both want.
Book 3 of the Shadow Ops series has the team involved in uncovering a sex-trafficking ring in Mexico and rescuing three American teenagers. Former Special Forces soldier Luke Willard is attracted to Wren Martin, a journalist, who is also in Mexico trying to find her missing sister. She is able to get into her sisters social media account and gives some much needed clues to the Ops team. They manage to find her sister along with the man who was supposed to be the mastermind. But back in New York City, Wren feels uneasy and while out with Luke she sees a man following them. This man wants her to pay for stopping his schemes and kidnaps her. Luke and the team to the rescue again! This is a suspenseful story that had me reading faster and faster so I was glad for the heat their relationship provided. Also some mention of the couples in previous Shadow Ops books but you don’t have to heave read them. Recommended especially if you like suspenseful romance.
When Wren travels to Mexico in search of her sister, Lily, who has been kidnapped, she runs into Luke and his team who are also on the search for missing teens, including her sister. She is wary of Luke but also feels a pull towards him and when she sees him again in a seedy nightclub, both wonder if it’s just coincidence….until she sees a picture of Lily on his phone and the two finally come clean as to what they are actually doing in Mexico. They join forces and gather info but as the clock ticks away, they have only one chance to free Lily. A great read with action, suspense, surprises and great characters. I loved how Luke treated Wren, as a competent woman and didn’t try to hold her back and I loved how determined Wren was and when it counted, she did listen to Luke and didn’t do anything stu**. The two had sparks and I loved the no drama between them. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
This series just gets better and better, the author’s work is definitely in the ‘must read’ category read for me. Former Special Forces soldier Luke and his team are sent to Mexico to rescue three teenagers kidnapped by a sex trafficking ring - unknown to him or his team the sister (Wren) of one of the kidnapped girls is an investigative journalist, and has tracked her down to Cancun. Luke and his team end up working with her, whilst Luke and Wren find their attraction to each other both instantaneous and growing rapidly. As the team find where the gang had held the girls will they be in time to save them before they are moved on, and will Wren become a victim of the sex traffickers herself? I thoroughly recommend this book, it will keep you engrossed from the start.
I enjoyed this book. Luke was a great character and I liked reading about him and Wren. The plot was solid and there was enough excitement and twists to keep the reader engaged. The only thing I didn't like in this one was the moments of both Wren and Ava being TSTL. What skills did a journalist and artist (respectively) bring to this fight? Nothing other than distraction. I really don't like it when heroines get all "I'm gonna kick a$$", but have zero skills to do so, then proceed to prevent the Heros from doing said a$$ kicking. It makes me crazy. But that's just me. I did like the book and am looking forward to Ava and Sam's book.
Wren Martin's younger sister has been kidnapped. Wren being a journalist knows how to research a story. When she discovers her sister is in Mexico she hops on a plane to find her. Luke Willard a former Special Forces soldier and his team have been sent on a mission to Mexico to find and rescue three teenagers who have been picked up by a sex-trafficking's ring. Wren and Luke run into each other and the sparks fly, once they start talking they find out they are in Mexico for the same reason. I love this book, the characters are amazing and the relationship between Wren and Luke is off the charts.
Luke Willard is a former special op soldier , now works for Shadow Ops Team. Wren Martin is is a journalist.
Luke and Wren meet at a Cancun Resort. They have an attraction and sparks of chemistry.
Luke is an alpha, sexy, protective, alpha male. Wren is a sexy , smart independent female. Wren and Luke have the same objective, to find her sister, Lily. Luke and his teammates a mission to find the missing teenagers. Can they complete the mission and have a Happily Ever After.
This book has suspense , action, some twists and turns.
I found this third installment in this series just as wonderful as the other books. You have suspense, intrigue, great characters and a great story. Luke is on a job in Mexico and he stumbles upon the sister of one of the people he is looking for. Add in Sam's previous one night stand (can't wait for this book), and it only gets more interesting. Loved all the details about how an operation works out in the field and I have an overall good feel for all the characters that have been introduced in this series, what's not to love?
Fate Steps In ~ another great read from Makenna with the Shadow Ops Team. Love how she weaves her storyline between Luke & Wren in this latest book, & also with fellow teammate Sam & Wren's Bestie, Ava, for the next upcoming book. She tackles a current issue (Human Trafficking) which can be a trigger for some & hard to read, but the good guys come through, & the characters do get their HEA. Can't wait for the next installment.
Another great story to add to the Shadow Ops team series. What I enjoyed was how Luke and his team didn't have all the Intel going into this op and how once he met Wren they worked together to find her missing sister. This added to the intrigue as the clues unfolded for them. Also loved how she left me wanting to know more about Sam and Ava, the book following Luke!
Luke doesn't think that he would ever fall for a woman, because he doesn't time to spend on them. His outlook changes when he is accosted by Wren when he is on assignment in Mexico. Her fiery attitude catches his attention and he has thoughts about taming her.
Ok, this was definitely intense in the sense that we had to read about human trafficking. Wren is the love interest for Luke but they don't get together until after they finally rescue her sister. The end was pretty intense itself but as always the good guys win. FANTASTIC job Makenna! I would recommend this book!
Wren was lucky as she stepped into the unknown in search of her sister! It could have turned out an epic disaster. She met Luke and he looked out for her. The storyline was good with suspense throughout and of course heated moments. I do recommend this book to all and you will not be left wanting.
Another excellent read. There's danger and suspense from the get go. Seen is trying to find her sister and goes off on her which is careless. That's how she ru.he into Luke and the others in Cancun. A great read that you won't put down. HEA.
Another action packed, suspenseful romance in the Shadow OPs Series that brings Luke and Wren together in the search for her sister...when the evilness goes after Wren will he be able to save her and get the happy ever after ending or does he lose it all.
Every book Makenna Jameison writes is wonderful. I stayed up have the night reading because once I started, there was no way I was stopping. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
Very good story! Love Luke and Wren together. I had a hard time putting this book down The story moves at a good pace. Can't wait to read the next book!
Great story-these characters get better as the series goes. I love the way Jameison took something horrible and brought light some disturbing acts. This was sweet and sexy.
Heart pounding action from start to finish! Love and sex radiates through Wren and Luke. And the past sizzles between teammate Sam and Wrens friend Ava. Great series!
