"There are some things that go without saying…but there are also things that need to be said and things that won't be understood until they are. The same goes for our own feelings."

Just when I think it can't get any more emotional than the last volume, I am proved wrong! 😭😭😭

I cried so much reading this especially with Sachi and Takara arguing, but I'm also SO thankful that both of them were able to convey their feelings! Even if they feel the other person didn't understand where they were coming from or had a much different idea/view on what they should do next, at least their feelings were out in the open!

I also continue to admire Takara and how he knew when he needed to leave because their arguing would just lead to them saying hurtful things. It hurt to see him leave because Sachi wanted him to stay, but at this moment in time, I agree with Sachi's mom and even one of the nurses who both said that their arguing wasn't bad because they were able to "talk" things out.

The relief I felt though when they "made up" and could just talk!! Goodness, I cried, especially when both of them smiled! 😭😭😭😭 It's been SO long since we've seen EITHER of them smile that my heart felt so full in that moment!

I wish the moment would have lasted longer because seeing how Sachi's classmates treated her absolutely enraged me!!!! The audacity of her "one friend"!!!! UGH!! Girl is in no way a friend and hated how Sachi was doing her best only for her classmates to laugh about everything! With how this volume ended, I truly hope things will be okay between Sachi and her best friend (different than the other supposed "friend), who I think is there for her, but feels hurt because she doesn't know anything.

I admire how with everything this volume led up to concerning the end in that Sachi is learning she can depend on those around her and still make her own decisions, that it will lead to her not regretting anything. I can't even imagine how hard it was to feel you lost all your friends even though you didn't do anything wrong. It was tough all around honestly, but I'm hopeful for this young couple and what their future will bring!

(Also just want to say a shoutout to Sachi's teacher who really WAS in her corner all along! Also that her mother is coming around and that Takara's grandfather is so happy!)

"Different opinions…preferences…feelings that can't be expressed with words…all of those things mixed together are what shapes life."

It really touches my heart to read how he’s caring for her and supporting the vision they have together. Being optimistic, even though it’s tough and will get more difficult.

"We should make this our thing. We'll go shopping together. I'll hold groceries in one hand and your hand with my other. When we're hungry, we can split a taiyaki. One day, we can share one with our baby when they grow up. We can count how many sparrows there are... and play games on our way back home. I want to be that kind of family."

I cried.

Takara is all up in Sachi’s business, which kind of makes sense since he’s the dad. But they’ve got different notions of what’s best and that’s causing some issues. But all that is a prelude to the insidiously vile nature of Sachi’s high school.

The vicious emotional pummelling that this series is often quite happy to provide takes a different swing this first chapter, as Takara and Sachi end up going at it. It’s basically all about Sachi trying to figure her path forward and Takara’s overprotective self.

In his defence, Sachi has been really keen to try and take everything on herself and that’s left him cold. They both have valid points, but, as the stress of the situation wears on them, their ability to communicate begins to fray considerably.

The subsequent chapter, where they end up going shopping, feels like a real catharsis of the type that’s few and far between. Which also feeds into my overlapping praise and complaint with this series.

This story is very, very real and very, very raw as a consequence. There is no getting around that this is a harsh read, filled with useful information while being very realistic about teen pregnancy, yet not demonizing it either.

I would not call my time with the story fun, or maybe even enjoyable (especially the talking animals, which come across as asinine in a situation like this), but I think it’s an important and worthwhile read anyway. It occupies the same space for me as That’s My Atypical Girl, though I admit I like that title better.

Everything here is designed to basically annoy me, as this is one of those areas where everybody seems to think they should stick their noses in (even as somebody without children I cannot escape this) and the story reflects that.

And if Sachi’s schoolmates weren’t bad enough last volume? Well, the gossip mill goes into overdrive and there’s a raft of shaming that feels even worse here, which I presume is partly a cultural difference, combined with universal awfulness like Sachi’s “friend” stabbing her repeatedly in the back to get in with a “cool girl” group.

It’s a lot. This series is always a lot. But it also makes great points. Sachi and Takada are just doing their best and they don’t need anybody dumping on them. By stepping outside the usual path for people their age they already have a massive burden to bear.

As I said, this is important, but it’s also real tough even when it’s being super engaging. There’s little here that isn’t absolutely plausible in the real world, right down to the younger teacher who means well and the old guy who has the ideals of a public relations firm. A good read, but not necessarily a good time. A couple volumes back I felt I was done with this series, but I kept at it and, on the whole, I am glad that I did.

4 stars - that’s a very personal 4 stars; if you like this series then I think this might be some of the best work it’s done yet and it rarely stops to assign blame. No, it just lets everything play out before us and, unfortunately, humanity takes care of the rest.

4.5 out of 5 stars: Sachi and Takara expressing their struggles to each other finally. It also touched on the backlash of dealing with rumors. Also deciding what educational path and struggle that is to fit her future needs along with seeing who is on her side is everything in the end.

I will always feel that the sex education questions and answers are some of the most important part of this series, and this series needs to be told not only to educate but to let others know they are not alone.

A realistic take on living through teenage pregnancy at school. Good information for young people on the stages of pregnancy and antenatal classes.

Awww grandpa’s kind words made me tear up!!! They’re already pregnant and made their decision to keep the baby. So why not let them be a little excited about it???

And the other kids at school are little shits. It’s realistic though. Teens can be so mean and judgmental but damn! It really hurt to see everyone be so mean to Fuku…

i love sachi and takara and wish nothing but the best for them.
i love how they're mature about their situation and actually take the time to think things through.
i hate that her classmates are terrible to her just because she's pregnant...
i hope things will get better for her in the next volume. v

Me gusta como van creciendo Sachi y Takara. Los dos van aprendiendo a sobrellevar la decisión que tomaron a pesar de que el mundo los juzga y señala
