Gnarly old History teacher Harry Jones is trundling along nearing retirement when he has a car accident with a strange but affable Italian called Massimo. This puts into motion a series of events that completely transforms Harry’s life and that of his long-suffering wife Mary. The corporate pressure of the school Academy and the dark forces of the local mafia conspire to bring him down but aided by his new friend Massimo, the spirit of Caravaggio, and his own darkly comic view of life, all may not be lost. Teach First, Die Later is a satire on the data-driven world of modern-day living and our relentless obsession with targets.

This is a right page turner! Very engaging and easy to read, very funny (especially if you have any experience of working in education) and good likeable characters you feel you really get to know. Recommended.
