“If ye commit to doing this, yer secret is safe with me.”
When Hannah agrees to a marriage of convenience to save her clan from financial ruin, she does it solely out of duty. Until her brother delivers her the most handsome but infuriating Laird she’s ever met.
Blackmailed to marry a lady from the O’Neill clan, Laird Alistair must accept or risk his biggest secret being revealed. Vowing to never love his new bride, the lass proves as wild as she is alluring…
As their battle of wills finds them in each other’s embrace, Alistair never expects Hannah to bring such chaos to his home… or his heart.
* A Deal with the Highlander is a steamy Scottish Medieval Historical romance novel of 60,000 words (around 300 pages) written by Maddie MacKenna and published by Cobalt Fairy.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, lots of steam and a happy ending.
Hannah Winbury is stuck in a hard place, as the eldest daughter of a laird, it was her duty to do what was best for the clan. Alistair has a secret, one that is known by very few. One he is being blackmailed for and being forced to join the clan with another by marrying someone who he doesn't know, someone he doesn't love and has decided he won't let in his heart. Hunter Winbury is desperate to do whatever is necessary to help the clan, even if it's to do something that he isn't proud of. Hannah is about to begin a new chapter in her life, and doesn't realize the circumstances why she is being made to do it. Someone who wants love, someone who is afraid to love and let someone live them. Grab this book, it is wonderfully written and the characters come to life as you read them. It's absolutely worth the read!
I loved this story and how a secret caused one person to blackmail a Laird to marry his sister, all because he thought his secret would never be found out. Although this Laird knew he had a witness. But that wasn’t the story, the story was about how these two individuals can to be married and even though the Laird being blacked mailed promised himself he would never fall in love with the blackmailer’s sister, even though he was going to have to marry her to keep the secret. But as I’ve said time and time again I don’t want to tell you the entire story although I’m excited to do just that, but I won’t you will have to read it for yourself to find out how they ended up with their happily ever after. So get it, read it, and you will enjoy it.
Mackenna's stories take you back in time with her descriptive writing and character development. This story is another great one to add to her library. Hannah and Alistair union is not a happy one in the beginning. She is marrying for the sake of her clan, and he is being blackmailed. Neither is a good way to start a marriage but when they meet there is a connection between them. Will their battling personalities mesh in the long run and lead to a happily ever after? This story kept me glued to the pages.
Alistair and Hannah. Hannah’s brother has blackmailed Alistair into marrying her to keep quiet about a dangerous secret from his past. Hannah went along with it because it was what her family needed financially. Alistair was bitter about it because he was forced into it and he built a wall of protection between him and Hannah. I enjoyed the characters in this book and the storyline. However there were a lot of editing errors and I was disappointed that the “dangerous secret” was not really explained fully, almost swept over. Still a good book.
I absolutely loved the characters and storyline so much. Hannah and Alistair were perfect for each other. I love how he came to Olivia’s rescue holding no ill will towards Hunter. I knew Colin was not a good guy but never had I guessed it was Alistair he was after. I hope Baby Rose has lots of siblings. Very good story. On to my next book. 🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜
An entertaining story of a Laird never going to marry and an eldest daughter doing her duty. Blackmail leads to a marriage of convenience, a battle of wills and challenges between Hannah and Alistair, his meddling mother and grandfather locking them in the library, Colby seeking revenge, and Alistair near death after being shot makes for an intriguing story. I recommend it for a next read.
This is really an interesting story and has wonderful characters. There are quite a few typos that had a tendency to interrupt the story for me but the writing is done well so I quickly was back ‘into’ the story. It would be so much better without them. I recommend this one. It’s good!
Alistair was blackmailed by Hannah's brother to marry her. He swore he would keep his distance and not fall in love. But Hannah is beautiful, and loveable and it's not long before everything changes. When her sister is in danger the truth will be revealed. Thank you ❤️
Don't roll your eyes at me! Okay, sounds familiar! Interesting and a little off the beaten path for a Scottish romance. Blackmail, A forced wedding and a budding love. Revenge and attempted murder. Lots of intrigue. Good read
Sit back & enjoy a lovely tale following Alistair attempts to be a good laird & balance out a new marriage forced upon him. Precious are these two & the sister Olivia sounds like a star struck teenager! Enjoyed this plot!
A nice book to pick up on a rainy day. Its short enough to read in one go. Love the sweet romance that bloomed between Hannah and Alaister. What started as a blackmail ended up in couple finding their happy ending.
Wow! So much happened. Allistair fell for Hannah and she fell for him before they knew what was happening. So much mystery and menace between Allistair and her brother as well as between Allistair and Colby. An exciting read.
Perfectly wonderful full characters. Great story line, just the right amount of story to steam. I want to read another about each one of the characters
I liked the story and the characters. A good quick read with a happy ending. Nothing stood out in particular but it was written good and my favorite subject matter.
Alister McMann is laird of his castle and is being blackmailed by Hannah's brother Hunter to marry her or his secrets would be revealed. They marry but Alister has decided that they would not be in love. Life changes things for them for the better and gives them a better chance. Good story and great author.
There is nothing like being blackmailed into getting married. This is great story with a great plot and excellent villain. Allister finds that McNeill's sister is nothing like him and prone to getting into trouble. That trouble is because Allister tries to ignore her and everyone knows what happens when you ignore a woman who wants your attention. Allister is a new laird and somewhat naïve about his clan and how to deal with snakes. What he finds is a woman who will stay honorable and true to her vows and ferrets out the snakes.
