Fiona Faris is an American author of authentic historical Medieval & Scottish romance books. She started writing historical highlander romance after she visited the Scottish Highlands years ago with her husband.
Her books have received startling reviews about the humor, the darkness and the romance they have.
She lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband and their two sons. Before she started writing romance, she experienced the various occupations: translator, dog-training, and a substitute English teacher for the most part of her life... However, nothing could ever compare to writing stories depicting the majestic and mysterious Scottish Highlands!
This book is amazing and I loved it! Fiona delivers another masterpiece in this new book in the Highlanders of Cadney and the tale of Tristan and Iris. He is laird of his clan and she is the last remaining heir to hers. She flees from her home to escape an unwanted marriage and will find herself face to face with Tristan. Their first meeting doesn’t go very well but they will soon be reunited and Tristan will find himself angry at her but willing to protect her for her uncle’s sake. Their relationship develops as the story unfolds and I love the way their feelings for each other change. They both hide secrets and their journey is a bit bumpy as his clan continues to be threatened by another Laird whom is anything but honorable. Their secrets will be revealed and the support and love they show for each other will send them both into danger in order to protect each other. Their story gets the wonderful happy ending Fiona always gives her stories and it helps make this one and absolute must read!
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
I wish I could rate this higher, because I've loved Tristan since we were first introduced to him, and I've been anxiously waiting for his love story... But tbh... He deserved so much better than Iris.
I get it, arranged marriage to a brutish horrible man leads you to form a desperate, ill-advised escape plan that you execute horribly, so it only makes sense to screw over the next rando you come along, just because you can, right? Girl, bye.
Iris was indeed, entitled and incredibly selfish. She had zero forethought, no honor to speak of, and took advantage of the crippled man to further her own needs - which ironically, turns out to be completely and laughably unnecessary, which only adds to the lunacy of her behaviour. Then doubles down to try to further exploit the well-intentioned man, full well knowing her past has a chance to catch up to her and entangle Tristan in the mess - but hey, let's just keep lying to the guy to make ourselves feel better. 🙄
I was glad to finally read Tristan’s story. He lived such as abusive life with a horrid father. After his father’s death things were starting to look up. Until, he sees a woman unconscious on the side of the road and offers her help. She (Iris) quickly smashed him in the head and stole his horse. That was the beginning of an interesting relationship between the two. I loved Tristan and his honesty along with his determination to succeed in spite of what he has been through. I didn’t like Iris at first because she was not honest with Tristan and he did not deserve that since he trusted her with all his secrets. Nonetheless it is a good book worth reading.
Internal and external scars are both monumentally hard to overcome.
The story of Iris and Tristan is filled with deception and secrets. She fakes her death to get away from the totally despicable man she is to marry. They meet under quite unusual circumstances but somehow it begins to work. This is an entertaining book that I recommend! The characters are flawed physically and emotionally and somehow help each other. A heartwarming story of love and betrayal, frustrating at times and well worth reading to discover how it will play out! Thanks for another engaging tale!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has likable main characters and it was so easy to sucked into their story. There is intrigue, humor and so much more. It was nice that the main characters both had flaws but were willing to overcome them and grow as people. That fact that Iris didn’t fully open up to Tristan after he opened up to her, pissed me off but I got over it. Very good book and in my opinion…you should definitely read it
HIGHLAND THISTLES!!! Highland Thistle!…What an AMAZING description of Iris Grants’ prickly veneer! Tristan Cabduh is certainly just as prickly in his own right…always jumping to off the cuff assessments of Iris and everything about her! Forged by the flames of lifes’ experiences both past and present …Secrets…complicate life for both Tristan and Iris! I really loved this prickly couples…NON STOP …EXPLOSIVE …SIZZLING…. STORY! I received an ARC and this is my HONEST opinion!
This is the Highlanders of Cadney Book five and it is very good and very well written full of the family twists and turns and the love each held for the person of their heart These stories are very entertaining and the characters are realistic and determined A wonderful read
This All Cadney Series Books is a fantastic set.Can get them individually as well.Have enjoyed all. These are well written by Fiona and all her stories never cease to keep u inthralled in her books.
I enjoyed this book. It kept me wanting to read more. Iris and Tristan were meant to be together. In the extended epilogue it was printed 3 weeks later and knew that could not be true.
How not to be a horse thief. Two accuse murders meet over a horse and fall into lust. A conflict erupts over her breaking a legal contact and his hostile take over of a peaceful neighboring clan.
I enjoyed the story of Iris and Tristan. They weren’t the most beautiful or perfect or strongest but there was such a human side to them. I could have done without the explicit sex scenes. I don’t need those details. Let me use my own imagination please.
What a touching story. This is one of my favorites. Fiona Farms is an excellent author and always brings you honor, duty, battles and love in a book. Excellent series.
Another great read from Fiona! I can’t get enough of her books. The characters are amazing. I loved how feisty Iris was. My heart went out to Tristan and all that he had endured throughout his childhood.
Wonderful box set filled with strong Highland warriors and their resilient heroines. Each book is action packed and takes the reader on an awesome journey. Enjoyable read.
A Common Enemy👺 Two People with physical and mental scars meet In medieval Scotland. Unknown to each other, they both have the same common enemy. I got this e-book from amazon with kindle unlimited.
I just finished book 1. I now am on book 2, I hope it is as good as the first one. That book was something else. It had action, betrayel, love and mystery. I absolutely loved it. Highly highly highly recommended. Now on the book two. I am finally on the last book. I have enjoyed reading all the books. You know how sometimes you want to know more about the characters in the stories, well you find out more with this series of books. You go from childhood to adulthood to old age. Finally I got to read all about the same family. Love this style of books. Finished all the books. Each one better than the one before. Can't say enough good about the writer. She shows the love for the characters she writes about. She also shows love for her readers by putting out such wonderful books every time.
As the Cadney series continues, it was nice to have Tristan's story told. With such a turbulent life, he deserved a little happiness. Although female, I would have expected the Grant clan to be more supportive of Iris. I saw no reason why she was living at the Rose clan keep. It was not usual to move until marriage as a lady was always in danger of losing her virtue. In this case, Caelan Rose would not have left her untouched. She could have escaped from the Grant keep. Again, a woman alone is in grave danger. Her horse stealing antic was not a smart move and could have gotten her killed. She was close to her destination and didn't need the horse, so why put herself at risk. I get that it's how they met, but there could have been another way - one more plausible. Tristan is also reckless. In the middle of a conflict with a cruel clan, he goes to a baby's birthday party with just one man as protection. Such foolishness. He's a laird, the last of his line and would not have taken such a risk. He has men to protect him and as the attack proved, he needed them. I liked that Tristan is not your usual hulking highlander. Not all were built like tanks. In this book, Laird Liam seems to have relocated from a remote island in the Hebrides to somewhere on the mainland, and in Book 6 this seems to also be the case. The MacLeod clan were, and still are based on Lewis and/or Skye, but the geography of moving between clan seats seems like they were all within a day's ride. I liked this series and gave all the books 4 stars.
