I’m Tab.

I’m a full time costume maker and comic writer. You can find my costume stuff at www.khaoskostumes.com. My queer stuff is all here. A man of many faces, people consider seem to consider me a master of disguise, but I’m really just a little nerd who likes to dress up.

My full name is Mr Tab Artemis Kimpton, it is not short for anything except ‘totally fucking awesome’. Male pronouns please, I have a varied gender expression (read: camp as a row of pink tents), but I’m quite comfortable in my masculinity.

I live in England, I was born in 1990 and I’m doing this comic because I got these characters in my head back when I was a lonely 13 year old queerio and I needed to write them down.

Let me say how truly greatful I am of this comic. Lesbian romance in a realistic comic. In a series of LGBT+ comics. Diverse charachters. Awesome nerdy/anime references.

Nay and Amber are adorable and their romance so sweet (if a little predictable). I'm pleased they got their sort of happy ending, albeit with judgey parents.

I found the various subplots to be a bit hard to follow. Maybe it all comes together when you've read the series as a whole. I personally found it all a bit muddled and I was getting a lot of the charachters mixed up.

I'm also not sure how realistic I feel it is that a group of friends would find eachother at a young age (theyre high school and early college, right?) and be so open and understanding in their sexualities and gender identities. Maybe it does for work like that for some people (i hope so, it sounds great). It didn't for me and I don't know many people who would say it did for them.

On the whole though, I enjoyed this a lot and will be carrying on with the series! would recomend!

As with the previous book (Mark and Steve) this a very sweet story, and a joy to read. I didn't find that I related to Amber and Nay quite as much as I did with Mark and Steve, but aspects of their stories and situations did still resonate with me.

One thing I really like about this series is that in each book you see little snippets of what's going on with the other characters in their group. In 'Mark and Steve' we got to see small aspects of Amber and Nay's stories, which only made full sense after reading 'Amber and Nay'. Equally, 'Amber and Nay' shows us snippets of the remaining character's stories that I assume will become fully clear in the remaining two books. It's a really clever and slightly unusual way of arranging a series, in that the majority of each story seems to take place around the same time, just focusing on different characters' points of view. You suddenly realise 'oh, while A and B were off doing this, C and D were doing that!' and it all makes more sense.

Although I think I preferred 'Mark and Steve' over this book, I still really enjoyed it and would recommend the series!

Amber and Nay really resonates with me; the themes of falling in love with your best friend, being unsure of your sexuality, and the constantly trying to get close to your best friend and ending up pushing them away, are all things that a lot of LGBT young people can relate to. I can certainly relate to this book. It made me laugh, it made me want to cry in places, and it warmed my heart in knowing that I'm not alone in these experiences.
I was even lucky enough to get my copy signed at Comic Con yesterday, so I'm very happy and pleased with my purchase. As a new fan of Tab Kimpton I'll be keeping an eye out for his future works!

A touch overdramatic at times, but just as enjoyable as Steve and Mark's story. I love the drawings, the little chibi insets and the tiny captions for every action - for some reason they make me smile -, but what impresses me the most is the author's ability to create believable, well-rounded characters with... drawings. I know, I'm new to comics, but I don't think I'll ever get over this.
