such a fun book full of greek mythology and adventure!! I loved this book when I read it in elementary school and it still holds up as an easy and entertaining read.
***Spoiler Alert*** Have u ever wondered what it is to walk with the dead. this book Walking with the dead is a science fiction books. I really think this book is a really good interesting book.
this book takes place in a neighborhood in a school and the underworld. this book is mainly about a boy named Alex and his friends name Freddie that get stuck in the underworld and try to fined a way out. The reason they get stuck in this place is because Alex's dad was trying to get people to get to his shop /store so they plan to do like a hunted house so it well start getting people's intention to he shop the plan was perfect mostly because it was really close to Halloween. Alex's dad has a old mummy of Greece this dad told him a story that it was believed that when u died if u were wealthy or a good person u would be given a gold coin and with that golden coin u would be able to cross the river and be a free soul but if u don't u would stay as a sad por soul. so Alex worked with old people and the old men he used to take care of gave him a coin the really liked it and it would of den good if it would be exhibit it on his dad hunted house. Any ways Alex and his friends Freddie stats getting chased by a mummy that his dad had for the exhibition of Halloween. until Alex and his friend suddenly end up in the underworld and try to find a way out. In this book i think! the main characters so Alex and his friend. I think the conflict is person vs supernatural examples in the book the problem is they got stuck in the underworld and now there there trying to get out.
I think that the major event that changed the main character /Alex was that in the beginning of the story he was really afraid of the bull in his school but in the part of the book he actually had to fight hem to get his golden coin back was really brave of him then all that he went in to to save his life made him really strong and he will never be really scared at the bully as he used to.
I was really surprised how this book went by telling a normal story about a boy and his normal life to starting to get interesting to really confused and crazy to a really good book. But the event that really surprised me was probably when they first get to the underworld and start to discredit the underworld I thought that was really creepy and interesting the quote i really liked was the underworld is filled with shadows. It's a place without hope with out joy where the dead fade into nothing. I really liked how the phrased it it sounds creepy and interesting.
From a scale to 1-5 i give this book a full 5 stars. I really like creepy and adventurous books they are really interesting and i just love them. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone that likes scare and creepy and adventurous. this book is really good and filed with adventure that im sure ull like.
Walking with the dead is a good book. The two mane things about the story are adventure , and not to give up and face your fear and do what you need to do ,and also it's funny because there's times that you will laugh in your mind this book is worth reading. The genre is fantasy because their some parts in the story that me and you know that will never exists and characters that don't exist. But it's your opinion what I think about the story it's good to me it's a five out of five. Spoiler alert Alex gets the girl.
The story takes place in a town. The story is about a kid and his friend named Alex and Freddie. Every year Alex starts a new school year by trying to get the girl of his dream witch is Rosalie he does bum things by doing that witch makes him look wires so she does like him but not a lot . It suck because there's a boy that bullies him and Freddie, his name is Slug. He makes him look bad in front of Rosalie . The conflict is person.vs.persons because he goes against other people and against self and things its just hard for him and not just Alex but Freddie to. The thing about Alex and Freddie are, Alex has a father helps his dad a lot and is strong and not scared to do go thing that are hard to do does good things then Freddie he's almost the same as Alex but Freddie has a mother and father. Alex's dad was having a opening museum for the corps that his dad found and Freddie jumped of a hie hie hie building! Because Alex's dad first museum shut down so he made a new one because of the corpse and Freddie had to jump of because their was a monster chasing him so he had no chose.
I was surprised when Alex had to run away from the there headed dog,why did Alex and Freddie go In the underworld if they did not do anything to deserve it I wish that Freddie would be quite because there was times in the story that could have killed them, I was angry that slug would bully him and make him look dum. The thing that are similar between me and Alex he is brave, strong, smart, responsible ,trustworthy ,and I'm twelve.
Alex touled his teacher about the corps and hi was amased about that and the gerny and adventure I would give this book a 10 out of 10 because theirs parts in it that I like and I like adventure story's just this book is good I would read it if I was you. I would recommend this book to the people that like adventure and a jorny
Walking With the Dead is a light adventure that would appeal to children grades 5-8. It mixes magic, ghost stories, and not-quite-time-travel to make an interesting tale that gives the reader a taste of Greek mythology and history.
Alex's father owns a shop called "Oddities", which is a curiosities museum about to be re-opened with its star attraction: a Greek mummy. After reading up on Greek history and mythology, Alex realizes that his corpse does not have a gold coin to pay Charon, the boatman, to take it to the afterlife. Alex then embarks on an adventure where he brings a gold coin to his corpse's soul, named Costas, and helps Costas reach the Elysian Fields. The story combines some problem solving with a handy cellphone that helps Alex call a friend when he's really stuck.
The concept for the book is original and anything that deals with history in a unique way like this is always going to get a couple points from me. This book would be enjoyed by the target age range. There were a few points I didn't like about it (like Freddie being a total not-supportive supporting character, or the simple way that conflicts are introduced and quickly solved), but other than that, it was decent.
Walking with the Dead By L.M Falcone is a scary and funny book that started off with a scary corpse that Alex's dad brought home from his Oddities store. Alex, was curious, and peaked at the corpse once in a while. One day he went to look at the corpse, he started having crazy dreams that gets him struck by lightning, and disappearing to a whole other world. Through his dream, he goes through a lot of bizarre things but at the end, he and his cousin Freddie, find themselves helping the dead to accomplish what they couldn't do.
I picked up this book, because my friend recommended it to me and I found the cover and summary really interesting. I finished this book, because when I started it I kept wanting to find out what was going to happen next which really got me hooked on. I think all my friends would like to read this book because this isn't a boring history book that talks about the past. Instead, it's a really good book that takes you through a lot of adventures.
This is a funny scary novel by L.M Falcone. Alex's father brings home a corpse for their exibit of Oddities. When Alex sneaks in to take a look at the Greek corpse, he starts having bizare dreams an is struck by lightning and falls into a door. Then things turn as the corpse wakes up after 2000 years and does not want to kill Alex but needs him an his friend Freddy's help. They find them selves on mission in the world of the dead. This is definatly my kind of a book. It is funny, creepy, and very interesting. I could not put this book down. One of my favorite books guaranteed to read it more than 3 times.
12 year old Alex has a corpse that needs help. He goes down to where the dead are. The corpse's name is Costas and he needs to go back in time and fix what Costas did wrong so that Costas can go to heaven. They have to face Medusa, Hades, and other terrifying things, but in the end, Alex manages to make the past right and Costas can go to heaven.
I picked this book up because it was pretty cool that someone walks with dead people. I finished this book because I wanted to find out what creatures Alex would face and will he save Costas from going to darkness. I think my brother would read this because you learn about the dead in a really interesting way.
When a 12 year old boy name Alex has an ancient Greek corpse in basement of their house. After waking up a 2000 year old corpse. They find themselves on a journey to save a innocent live from going to a bad place.
Reasons why I picked this book is, because the front cover seem interesting and the first few pages too.
Reasons why I finished this book it got more and more interesting to read and some of the stuff related to my life a bit.
I would recommend this book to people who like: Greek Mythology, Humour and Adventures.
Exciting and fun book to read out loud with my girls - there was so much action. And what a great way to interest children in Greek Mythology, and in fact, my youngest girl is so absorbed by it now. This book was read in her classroom and she has homework to do that is based on the book. I wanted to read it so I understood what she was talking about and so that I knew how to help her with her homework. But instead of reading it on my own to catch up, I thought perhaps she might be able to use a refresher, and my oldest girl might like to hear the story too....we all enjoyed it very much.
Yet another wonderful book based in Greek mythology. Walking with the Dead is funny, crazy, and just a wee bit frightening. What would you do if you were being chased by a thousand year old Greek corpse asking for a coin? Alex and Freddie are about to find out. A delicious retelling of all your favourite myths, fans of Percy Jackson will love this charming tale of souls, harpies, and true heroism. The characters were great (I love Freddy; I think he's awesome) and the story was really good. I have read this book 15 times already, and I've never gotten tired of it.
Walking with the dead a humorous book. It starts off when Alex's dad brings home a ancient greek corpse planning to reopen a musem in the basement of their house suddenly Alex and he's cousin Freddie fall through a door and they find themselves in the underworld with monsters and three- headed dogs and much worse - all in an attempt to help a lost soul who is in deep trouble
I first read this when I was in grade 6, and fell in absolute love with it. As old as I get this will, forever, be my favorite book. It has everything I want in a book like: history, Greek mythology, adventure, some humor, and a little romance (like in the backstory of it). This is the book I always think about when someone asks me what my favorite book is and what I like to look for in a book.
2.5 stars. It reminded me a lot of Percy Jackson. It had a similar MC, and lots of Greek mythology that seemed more accurate, but it was kind of boring.
A little Greek mythology goes a long way in this childhood romp which sees a pair of cousins sneak into the Underworld in order to liberate the soul of a wrongly damned mummy. Despite a few narrative gaps and a rushed ending that reads as if the author were eager to beat a deadline it's a fun diversion interesting enough to make me want to check out her other titles.
This book takes your imagination to another place. There's a lot of adventure going on. I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy and adventure.
Have you ever traveld to where spirts scream and whing for help? The genre of this book is relastic fiction because These two boys named Alex and Freddie try to help this corpse get across the river and to the fields of Elyisan. My opininon on this book was that it was very thrilling like when freddie alex and cotas saw the snake climbing up the rope and trying and trying to kill the royal baby because i thought the snake was gonna eat the baby but it didnt eat the baby. Spoiler alert costas dies at the end from being killed by the snake that tried to kill the royal baby.
The setting of this book had multiplue places like at the beginning of the book the setting waas at the river where thye lost souls stand and wait to give charon their goldcoin so they could go acroos the river. The second place in the book it was in the house that hades sent alex and freddie down because they picked the wrong door and they had to fing the mirror and give it to hades. So Alex wanted to save this lost corpse because he couldn't cross the river or get on the boat without a gold coin so they help cotas get onto the boat they steal the boat from Charon and send cotas to the place to see his fate which is somewhat bad and good so he goes to hell with hades but Alex believes cotas is truthful so they go get cotas from hell and and rescue him and take him to the royal baby from being eatin by snake to prove his inconnece. The conflict in this book is person vs fate because Alex and Freddie have to defeat the gods to save their friend cotas from staying in hell forever for something he didn't even do. The theme of this book is always help others because in the book Alex was first scared of cotas then he saw that cotas was asking for help so then he wasn't so scared of cotas anymore cause he felt sad for him because he couldn't cross the bridge.
The title relates to the book by the title of the book is walking with the dead and Alex and Freddie are going to save a corpse and they have to save him from staying in hell So they have to walk and run with the dead corpse. The setting adds to the conflict because they travel in hell and everything there is dead and sad lots crying so it's gives the reader a more scared thrilling book. The 1st person point of view affects the story because it gives the reader knowledge to know how the characters feel and what they think of the places they are in.
I was moved when cotas saw the royal baby about to get eating by a snake and even though he was scared to touch the snake he killed it and lost his life. I was surprised because Alex had saw the man who couldn't drink any water and thesesis told Alex that if he gave the man some water anyway and he got his face taken away. I liked the way the author gave us really described how they felt when they were running away from the evil witch monkeys.
I would rate this book a 4 because I think it's could have been little more exciting it wasn't that much action or adventure to me it was just another dead people book which I have read a lot of. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes thrilling scary books with zombies or witchs or just all dead things. This book is really funny kinda also somewhat scary . .

When reading this book in grade 4 as a class, I thought it was pretty boring. But after re-reading it I understood it more and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
