Billionaires in Heat #1

The Omega Merger

Rate this book
Betas are made for business, not pleasure.

We’re intelligent, hard-working, and unlike alphas and omegas, we’re not ruled by our hormones.

That’s how I’ve earned the title of Alpha Wrangler. No matter how much testosterone floods a boardroom, I can always rise above it and get the job done.

Which wins me the plum job of negotiating one of the biggest mergers in the country. All I need are a couple of signatures, and then I can use my bonus to buy an apartment with Kelvin, my beta assistant and best-friend-with-benefits.

But all that comes crashing down when I’m triggered by a switch.
My hidden omega nature takes over, hungry for knots, and bites, and a pack of my own.

I always thought switches were an urban myth. But the guy who triggers me is part of the merger deal, and I’m suddenly hot and needy for my billionaire bosses, a royal omega, and my best friend…

I just have to remind myself this is a heat of convenience.

I’m here to do a job – and so are they.

So why does it feel like a mind-blowing merger is on the table?

The Omega Merger is a standalone in the Billionaires in Heat series.
❤️ Omegaverse (reverse harem)
❤️ Sweet angst
❤️ Designation switch
❤️ Billionaire bosses
❤️ Steam, steam, steam!

The Omega Merger was a unique take on Omegaverse and I found it intriguing. Maddie is a Beta who mediates mergers and the like and loves her best friend Kel. When she finds herself mediating a merger between two companies headed by Alphas things go WAY differently than she was expecting.

This is a RH and I didn't realize until after I downloaded it that it was RH with MM. I love MM but I don't like MM when a heroine is involved. So like with many RH with MM, I felt like Maddie kind of got lost. In other words, if she had just been taken out as a character, the other men would have stood on their own perfectly and it would have been just as hot. Since there were several MCs involved, I also felt like there was a missed opportunity to really develop each character and their journey to bonding. I wanted some more time getting to know them individually and together.

That being said, I DO think the story was fresh and it flowed cohesively. It was a sweet read with a lot of emotion that I appreciated immensely. Overall, this was a quick and spicy read that I did enjoy.

I was really excited for this one (I always love a fresh take on omegaverse) but ultimately was left a little disappointed. The interesting thing about this for me was the fact that she was a beta, so not automatically "desirable" but honestly, the author made every effort to undercut the angle. She's stunningly beautiful, has three degrees blah blah blah. It isn't an interesting read when you can 100% predict how every single character will instantly respond to her. Seriously. What's the point of even making her a beta when every alpha hones in on her immediately?

The other thing that put me off a bit was the character of Ryan. I think the author thought he was cutting the tension but actually he was sucking all the interest out of the setup. He came across as so smarmy that up until the 15% mark I actually thought he was the bad guy.

The whole thing just ended up being a little boring. It didn't pull off the conflict of other beta FMC like Lola and the Millionaires because Maddie didn't feel like a real person

How not to admire the strength, ambition and bright intelligence of a woman who has achieved everything on her own; who has defied all odds; who has overcome all the difficulties and hard blows of life without losing her soft, loving, passionate, caring and considerate nature. Maddie is an impressive character with brains, backbone and enough fire and determination to carve a place for herself, to evolve and triumph in spite of the challenges that come her way.

This is a very interesting omegaverse story with the familiar alpha, beta, omega designations, but...There is a big BUT here!!! The author has managed to break the typical and traditional we are used to read through her own prism, leave a unique mark and surprising twist.

And the topping of all this wonderful cake is that I had the pleasure to follow the forming of Maddie's pack;how all these unique bonds, relationships and friendships merge and compliment each other, add flavours and quirks.

And one of the most important things for me as a poly reader is that there wasn't a main character left behind and neglected. The author gave Kelvin, Griffin, Lucas, Ryan and Alain ways to shine and contribute to the new pack and the story without taking the attention from the core - Maddie...
I received an ARC for free in return for my honest review.

Orgies galore...or sexual smorgasbord??

I liked this one. It had a different take on the OV trope. I don't always like it when there are already existing relationships and they are trying to add someone new, but I felt it was handled well with the fact it was two separate packs trying to add Maddie and Kel and then everyone just jumped all in together. There were some crazy group sexual hijinks to be had. Extra spicy for sure.

I. Kid. You. Not. The first 35% of this book is all about 🐔 sucking.

Also, how on earth does she feel an ounce of connection with any of these guys (except for Max- Max sounds awesome)- they all sound like pr*cks.

Frenchie proves a person 100% can fit an entire human head up one’s own anus if they wish.

Playboy is flat out creepy, pushy, and clearly unwanted advances that he doles out anyways to the FL en mass.

Nepobaby Lordship feels like a random throw in added at the tail end of a growing, already inedible, hodgepodge of wtf.

Serious Twin is there.

And Max is golden (at least at 45% way through he still is as far as I know) and can be sung about in sonnets and poems to be passed down through the ages for all I care. (Jk, he’s not THAT amazing. But bro sounds like a pretty solid character and I respect that.)

Anyways, the switching POV’s were useless for what they contributed to this mess. All of the male characters were a lesson in what it takes to trigger a female’s unconscious “I-got-the-ick” flinch and just all around from what I could bare to take (45%) was just a solid “no” for me.

As much as I wanted this book to be my scene, (considering how delightful the preface sounded) this was a giant miss on the mark from where I was (apparently wishfully) hoping I might find it.

In fact, it made my head hurt. Literally.

This was just very emotionally taxing honestly.
And I don’t feel like we got to know any one character all that well throughout. So it felt more like a longer novella than a full blown, regular length book, to me.🤷🏻‍♀️
It was good.
Just not my favorite since there was just too much going on.

I received an ARC copy for free and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Spicy. Unique. Engrossing storyline.

Super interesting addition to the OV universe. A new quirk to the ABO. It’s fascinating how it works and I love how the author explained it while leaving it a bit open so there’s room for it to grow into other books, potentially.

The other thing I really love about this story is that the FMC is not wishy-washy in making up her mind. So many stories are fully about the angst in making a decision about the pack or men or whatever. But there isn’t really that much angst within the harem and I am here for it.

I love that the majority of the difficulties come from outside the pack. I would be curious to know more info about the pack that dropped her when she was younger but all in all this was a fantastic read.

I love coming across new additions to the OV. The creativity blows my mind!

So Roxy brought something new to my omegaverse obsession, and the world she has created with the switches is so good 😊😈🔥. I bought the whole series before I started on the first book 😬 and I’m freakin pumped for the rest of them🙌

I devoured this book, I absolutely loved it. Finally a different point of view in the world of the Omegaverse. Maddie is a fantastic female character, fragile and strong at the same time. I love that she has such a successful professional career.

The pack that the characters create is made up of multiple personalities with many nuances and it's easy to fall in love with all the protagonists. The theme of the "switch" between one designation and another is interesting and intriguing. It is a book that I absolutely recommend to those who love this genre. It's different and well written.

This book is a wonderful stand-alone with amazing characters. The growth the main characters have to go through to get their HEA is so emotional and you can’t help but want everything to work out for them. I would definitely love to read more about these characters and see them grow more. This is a great Omegaverse novel and highly recommend for a read.

This was AMAZING!! One of if not the best omega verse books I have read to date. I did want more finality to the perceived threat but other than that it was perfectly drawn out. The smut was giving and definitely going onto my “read over and over and over again” book list. 10/10 would defiantly recommend.

Omega verse with a twist!

I was able to get a chance to read this book on an Arc copy and it was an excellent read. This is the first book I’ve read from the author and I’ll be diving into her othe work as soon as I’ve finished this review.

The Omega Merger has a strong & focused female lead with the fresh take on designation switches. A refreshing take on the omega verse but rooted within the familiarity of the genre.

We get to meet her new pack & experience the bonds develop between not only Maddie but her new pack as a hole.

I’d definitely recommend this book!

Perfect mix of hot, steamy, suspenseful and tearful. I love omegaverse and specially reverse harem. But this exceed my expectations. This author clearly knows what they're doing how to draw the reader in and keep them going.

I was immersed from the first page when reading about Maddie and her men.
Maddie has been through a lot but has come out stronger on the other side.
I just wanted to hug Maddie and tell her that it would be OK when she was reliving her past. I didn’t just get absorbed by Maddie but her men too. I won’t go into detail so the story isn’t ruined but, each has their own personality, insecurities and caring natures. This draws you into the story until you get rooked and can’t put it down.
This is another 5* read!

Got an ARC but I would have read it anyway! Has some of my favorite things: Late presentation, huge pack, and healing from heartache that came from someone outside the pack. Great story - author says it's sweeter than her norm but I loved it. Now I'm off to do some author stalking and look up her other books. Will definitely be looking for the next book.

This book was a great new angle of omegaverse. I’ve read several books where a beta has latent omega genes and becomes an omega but the idea of a “switch” being triggered by another “switch” was very unique. I loved the way this pack was formed and Maddie’s discovery of her new designation and how it suits her life as the “alpha wrangler” of boardrooms.

I’m on a real omegaverse kick atm and really enjoyed this book. The concept of a switch is new to me, but something I’m excited to explore further so hope there’s more of that in later books. This is a standalone novel that’s the first of a new world, but it didn’t feel over scene setty, plenty of story and action from the get go. I also enjoyed how much character building was packed in. Loved it

4-4.5⭐️

I was definitely intrigued when I read the synopsis for this book and figured I'd give it a go. Am I ever happy I did so! This book is an interesting departure from our run of the mill OV out there right now and it's a concept was a breath of fresh air.
Imagine thinking your whole life and identity was laid out for you. You're a Beta (a bad @ss boss b@*&h one at that), then suddenly one random encounter in a restaurant and your whole life is turned upside down. A Beta one minute, an Omega the next. The myth that "switches" (those whose designations can suddenly change), isn't a myth anymore. What's worse, you're about to experience your very first heat, and you've sworn to NEVER be with an Alpha... what's a girl (in denial) to do? Luckily for her, there's quite a few Alphas, an Alpha/Omega and hottie bestfriend Beta lining up to lend a helping 'hand'.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The character development, relationship growth and banter was fun to read. Though I was devastated with one characters storyline, I'm more than intrigued by a certain "feral Alpha" and I can't wait to see where his story goes (why do I always go for the crazies?)

This is the start to Billionaires in Heat series if the rest of the series is like this then I will be waiting for the next book. Maddie a beta strong has had difficulty after difficulty thrown at her but rising above it loves her job see she mediates mergers between two companies in love with her best friend, but things change when she mediates a merger between two alphas, but things don’t go as smoothly as planned since her aversion to alphas. Griffin sexy as all get out alpha and the moment he comes in contact with the beautiful beta his presences triggers a switch from her being beta to an omega which she has been all along but it also, triggered here heat with a few alphas and a very generous beta there to help her through it all but where are they headed, after her heat passes who will she turn to, what does it all mean for her the changes, and is there a HEA somewhere along the line for her?.

Ok so I love omegaverse and when I saw this arc, I had to get it. It was good but I didn't connect that much with it. The smut was of course off the charts because of the heat and a lot which is to be expected because of the packs. I liked the different guys. Alphas, beta and omega. The switch thing was really interesting. The past and hurt was emotional and I had expected angst. There were doubts and such but not as much angst as I had wanted. The side plot was nice with the whole merger, protest and threats even though I didn't understand much of it. Nothings that amazing to say. I might read more books in the future if I'm in the mood or they seeem interesting.

I thought the ‘beta FMC is negotiating a merger between two billionaire Alpha companies, but her hidden/dormant omega nature is suddenly triggered’ premise would have a lot of cheesy business pantomime, but I was pleasantly surprised.

What I really liked: the different take on omegaverse (first time I’d read about ‘designation switches’) and the light dusting of angst (of the “am I wanted for me or for my designation?” variety). Also, the steam. That first scene on the terrace. 🥵And even though there were 5 MMCs, they were all distinct and easy to keep track of (at least personality/character wise, I did feel like a diagram was needed to keep track of some of the sexual choreography).

What could have been better: The external plot somehow got OTT *and* kind of lost steam towards the end, but I guess it did its job, which was to get everyone in a room and having sexy times.

Will I read more books by Roxy Collins? Yes, yes I will.

I love Roxy's writing style, i love they way she portrays love in all shapes and forms. So no suprise here that i really liked this book. This is an Omegaverse book with a lot of spicy scenes that will make your toes curl between all the characters. Which is what i absolutely love, the more the merrier and that everybody loves everybody in one way or another.

Our main girl is a beta and has had a lot of rejection in her past so she stays away from the alpha's and has her best friend Kel ( who is a freaking delicious Beta himself) to help her with her needs from time to time. She's called the Alpha wrangler not for nothing. She knows how to keep it professional and get the job done. But with this new merger she's working on, it has some gorgeous alpha's in the mix along with her friend Kel, she's trying her best to get the job done without daydreaming too much. But when she meets Griffin everything changes. I won't spoil more, read it!

It has a lot of steamy scenes, that made me blush so hard, i sometimes had to catch my breathe. I love every second of it. Maddie's an incredible woman who has had a lot of walls up around her and it was beautiful to read how these men tried their absolute best to take care of her, love her and protect her all in their own way and then in return how she started to trust them and love them back.

I was hesitant going into this one thinking that it was about betas not being good enough and having to be an omega. I liked that Maddie was strong, as well as her relationship with Kel. The guys seemed liked they were already looking for more, so the set up was already there.

I'm not sure about Griffin. He knew from the get go someone had been triggered and didn't forewarn them. Instead things got heated and too close for comfort. The guys handled it well and the pack creation was almost seamless. No third act break up, just outside interference from protesters, bomb threats, a kidnapper that gets what he wants and crappy journalists. The whole switch thing was interesting. The heat dragged on and things got boring. I got sleepy and things didn't really pick up. HEA both pack and merger. I'm curious on the next one but yeah, mainly heat sex.

The Omega Merger is a a reverse harem omegaverse romance with a surprising amount of heart from a pack of alpha billionaire businessmen. Maddie is a beta who is great at her job mediating contracts and mergers. She typically avoids alphas outside of the conference room, preferring to spend time with her beta roommate, Kel, instead. Her current job is facilitating the merger of a lifetime between two companies led by opinionated alphas. When a switch is suddenly triggered, Maddie is forced to confront her new omega needs and her thoughts on alphas, all while keeping the merger going.

Overall, this is an enjoyable book. Sexual interludes still hold true to the typical omegaverse traits: knotting, slick, biting, etc. While there's often lots of fluid, it never gets to the point of being overwhelming. Maddie's responses to the switch are extremely reasonable, and her struggle to maintain professionalism is entertaining. My only complaint is I would have liked to see more of the agreement and early arrangements between Alain and Lucas. It would help make Lucas more involved, and would show more of the feelings and needs between the men better.

A fun, quick, and saucy read.

What a great book and a unique take on omegaverse! I love the concept of "designation switches", especially an alpha/omega switch or dominant beta/omega switch. Maddie is a great lead character, more of a dominant beta (known as the Alpha Wrangler) and I really enjoyed how her character interacted with the MMCs. She's definitely the type of take no prisoners female lead that I appreciate. There is MM in this book, which I completely enjoy but is not everyone's cup of tea, and I really enjoyed how those relationships developed. Overall, really good story from Roxy!
