It took me a while to get into this book, but found that I enjoyed it very much. The ending was very powerful. I loved the author's descriptions of his emotions about his family, his friends, and his country. All very poignant. A must read for all French students, and those who want to know more about African cultures.
This a novel that talked about african culture. It sang the glory of Africa and her beliefs. Camara Laye narrated how he spent his childhood to tell the whole world that we Africans have cultural beliefs which were guiding us before colonisation. L'ENFANT NOIR had been translated to many languages.
