Hirohiko Araki ( 荒木飛呂彦) is a Japanese manga artist. He left school before graduation from Miyagi University of Education.
He enjoys the baseball manga Kyojin No Hoshii (Star of the Giants); the video games Mario Kart and Bomberman; and likes Prince and other African-American singers, as well as jazz, rock, and rap.
By the twenty or so volumes I've gotten slightly tired, especially the long fight with Valentine didn't need to last several volumes, luckily things wrapped up here and then an exciting plot twist happened - I flew through the novel! I can't believe it's almost the end.
The art is as always brilliant and it's even improving from volume to volume. I'm in love. Araki gave us so many panel of Johnny being a pretty darling, I'm in love.
So the big question coming out of this volume is whether Valentine planned to kill Johnny all along. And I'm a firm believer that he didn't. Valentine has shown himself to be a man of his word, even if he is cruel. He kept his word not to kill Steven Steel and left Lucy alone on the Blue Hawaii. Although I wouldn't put it past someone with as much conviction as Valentine, I do not think that he was lying. My read on the situation is that he brought the spare gun with him as a backup plan. However, once Johnny tested him, Valentine felt that there he had no way of talking himself out of that situation. Valentine knew that Johnny would no longer believe him, no matter how honest he was being. At that point, his only option was to take the first shot. Because Johnny finding out about the gun was inevitable. And once Johnny finds out, he's gonna shoot.
And I just love that there's room to have this conversation. The flurry of emotions that come from the 2 chapter long exchange. The reader is put in Johnny's position, where you're really not sure if you can trust this guy or not. And that last line from Valentine at the end. Masterpiece shit.
The twist with High Voltage is fucking baller. I don't care if people hate it. I think it's cool as hell. You get a whole ass chapter building up this mystery, only for the payoff to be the coolest possible option. The true climax of the story's themes and conflicts happened with Valentine. But you need some kind of conflict for the end of the race. And Johnny vs Poco Loco is not that. Plus, Johnny and Dio didn't really get their final confrontation. And if this is truly going to be a retelling of parts 1-3, you gotta have Dio. And while we're at it, why don't the bring back The World. I can't convey just how exciting that moment is. I can't wait to see how people react when SBR gets an anime. Because the question surely has to come up about whether or not old stands can be reintroduced in this new universe. We've already had stands inspired by the previous universe, but what about straight up returns? High Voltage answers that question in the grandest way possible.
Finally, the moment with Johnny's father was a total surprise and it just melted my heart. So much of the story has had the theme of characters trying to find peace- trying to find home. Almost everybody was running away from something and trying to make peace with their past. Hot Pants died with a heart full of guilt. Dio died running from his shame. Gyro died unable to reconcile his heritage with his need for autonomy. Mountain Tim found his home in Lucy's arms and died immediately afterwards. Axl Ro died unable to make peace with his past mistakes. Ringo Roadagain knew his home was on the battlefield and practically resigned himself to dying in a duel. Sandman died unable to save his people. Practically every single character dies with unfinished business. Everybody left things undone, things unsaid. So for Johnny, after all of these unhappy endings, to not only find his home but to have his home come find him. It's touching.

I knew valentine had no intentions of letting Johnny live even if he wasn’t the one to kill him. Chapter 91 makes me love Johnny so much more, he’s really holding his own and has grown so much
This was the first image I remember seeing of Funny Valentine
We're really doing this again huh okay I don't really loooove this, like I don't think it's necessary, but whatever["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
YOU SPENT 19 YEARS OF YOUR LIFE REFUSING TO BE A FATHER, LOOKED YOUR SON DEAD IN THE EYES AND SAID YOY WANTED HIM AND DEAD. BUT NOW YOU WANNA BE HIS FATHER?????? KYS
After the fight with Valentine, stuff with Dio felt like added on for fans service. I think it would've been better if the world was introduced earlier or used as a minor part during the d4c fight. I did enjoy how it explained Valentine's ideologies and how he would do anything for his country. I felt it would be better to focus more on Valentine and less on Dio.

Series: Steel Ball Run #23 Rating: 4 stars - It was really good
Johnny has to make the difficult decision to either trust the president and potentially get Gyro back or attempt to kill him, well he goes with the latter and it quickly becomes a shoot out. This was a very violent battle that eventually ended with a nail bullet in the head of the president and his and D4C’s deaths. After this long of a battle it was great to see him finally being taken down but we quickly see that the president made contingencies because he realized he would be defeated.
Once the battle was over while Johnny and Lucy were talking the corpse body disappears which makes them realize there is another enemy and they appear to be headed in the same direction as the race finish line, and the President's secret bunker on Manhattan Island that he made for the corpse. Johnny tasks Lucy with finding Gyros' body and takes off after the assailant, who we soon find is an alternative dimension Dio with a new stand that has the ability to stop time. It is really interesting that Dio was brought back at the end of the race. I was very surprised that the president’s battle didn’t actually go to the end of the volumes so I was like what's going to happen the last two volumes, but now we know it's going to be defeating another Dio and finishing the race.
This is the last part of the race with the racers taking boats to the last leg. When they get off the boats Johnny sees his father in the crowd and he publicly apologizes for his behavior as a parent, but Johnny doesn’t hear this because he has already taken off on the race. I think its nice that we see the parent trying to apologize but this scene definitely felt performative and not really genuine, so we will see if there is more in the next volume or if this was all just a performative piece to make the father feel better.
Now to see how the last leg of the race goes and how Johnny stops Dio.
TW: gun violence; death, grief, toxic parent

The end of Break My Heart, Break Your Heart was absolutely fantastic! I had forgotten JOJOs could be this good. The fight devolving to agreements, discussion, and pleas toward the end made it so much more interesting. Gyro got a good send-off, the death of Funny Valentine was satisfying, and Johnny strides forward from victory. Alas, the president has one more agent. Dio, with the depth of history provided by an alternate universe and backed by the previous pair of trilogies, is here to lay claim to the power of the corpse. Tusk Act 4 vs The World: how will Johnny prevail?

Learning of Funny Valentine's motivation for fighting as hard as he did for his country was interesting, and the execution of his time with Johnny was done really good. Page 28 of the first chapter made me cry LOL!
I am kind of mad that Dio is the one to come back with The World because it does feel a bit like fanservice to have him appear with that specific ability again. It's kind of cool but I feel like Johnny HAS to win now, like guaranteed basically

Pretty good 7th part of Jojo’s bizarre Adventures and far from the best! This series lacks awesome intense fights and the story of this series was dull😭😁❤️❤️
