Leigh Walker has this way with words that just gets me hooked, addicted and needing more. I am already eager to read book 3. The competition is fierce, the stakes are higher and everyones lives and hearts are on the line. Rhys of course was hot but while he was off smooching all the other girls, my eyes started to open up to Duncan. I hope he gets his own story. I loved that Tamara finally was able to admit her feelings to herself and I also loved that the girls tried to remain friends while competing.
I REALLY HOPE MORE SERIES IN THIS WORLD WILL BE IN THE NEAR FUTURE. 😍 Hint hint.
Ahhh! These books read too fast! I need more and I hate waiting, but I will. I can’t wait for the next book! AND I hope the series will continue. I think Shaye needs a bigger story.
Book 2 picks up right where book 1 leaves off and it is a non-stop ride! This book will have you up and down, laughing then (nearly) crying. It has all the emotional components you could ask for and then some.
Tamara proves to be a fantastic leading lady in this spin-off series. We get to see a more vulnerable side to her in this brilliant installment. Rhys continues to be a swoon-worthy Alpha and proves that he has the potential to be a formidable king. What I want to know is what does King Black have up his sleeve, and who is going to put him in his place?!?
Leigh Walker has, once again, surpassed my expectations! She is an author that I know I can rely on to deliver a fantastic story full of rich detail and meaning. I always fly through her books as I can not stop reading once I start. You are totally transported into another realm and immersed so perfectly that it is difficult to break away and go back to reality. I highly recommend this book/series and look forward to book 3!
Great addition to the V-royals series and also nice as a stand alone. Exciting, playful and very entertaining. Read it in a few hours, can’t wait for the next one
So many feels from this story. Ups and downs, surprises and swooning kisses, betrayal and secrets. This was loads of fun to read and now I need to see how it ends!
Please forgive me as I fan myself. Oof, what a romantic story! I will admit that towards the end I was getting extremely frustrated that Tamara was letting her pride get the upper hand in regards to her feelings but thankfully everything worked out in the end. So looking forward to book 3!
This had me on the edge of my seat, and feeling all the emotions Tamara was feeling throughout the book. It was so intense! She has finally admitted to herself how she feels about Rhys, and so it is extremely hard for her to watch him with the other contestants. The constant jealousy between the girls is predictable and frustrating but impossible to avoid with the situation they are in. I like that they are trying to remain friends through the experience, though. The Contestants' Challenge was a nice addition to the competition, and I really enjoyed the evolving relationship between Tamara and Duncan. It is a nice change of pace to see Tamara being vulnerable but still kicking butt being her awesome self!
I cannot wait to see how the story progresses, and I'm already hoping for another series! I am curious about Shaye and would love to see her get her own story.
It’s a shame, really. I so adored Tamara during the last few books. Feisty, self-confident to the end, always taking charge, ordering everyone around (in a good way), strong, independent, everything you want from a strong female character.
But then she meets Rhys, the werewolf king and immediately becomes one of those constantly crying, heartbroken girls, who always doubt themselves, the love of their mates etc. You’ve seen it twice during the other books (Austin/Blake, Dallas/Gwyneth) and while it (partly) worked for them it really doesn’t work out for Tamara. Once or twice you get a glimpse of the old Tamara, like when she took charge of decorating the barn for Rhys‘ coronation but it instantly disappears when she watches him dancing with the other girls.
Yes, I totally agree, it must be hell to have him declare his love for you and then see him snogging (I so hate this word) another girl minutes after for the sake of the cameras but shouldn’t she stand above these things? The old Tamara would have, so that’s why I just can’t with this new version of her. During the Pageant she was bursting with self-confidence and now she is a blubbering mess whenever she sees him.
Really not my style at all. I’ll read the next book just to finish this series but I’m not very much into it anymore.
I still had my doubts about Tamara and her ideas, but somehow she always comes through at least being half right. I like seeing her vulnerability too. The trouble that begins to stir in this book is quite concerning and with only one book left to go made e wonder what good could come of it. But as with the others, the show must go on and Mira will have her way. Tamara the politician is more calm and understanding than I would have been, but she always Tim Gunn's the hell out of it. (i.e. she Makes It Work)
Another pageant! I loved the first pageant in the series, but I DO NOT LIKE THIS ONE! In the other one it seemed pretty obvious who was going to be picked. In this one I have no doubt Tamara will be picked, but I don't like the way Rhys is being with all of the contestants. It really bugged me and I couldn't believe Tamara was just taking it all. Forget the pageant and what people think! Call it off!
As with all the ones before (Vampire Royals 1-6) 7 The Uprising was a wonderful read. I find that I am wanting to stop here for now (I won’t) because I will run out of Ms Walkers books to read, her work doesn’t disappoint.
It’s not like I’m reading…It’s like I’m being transported to a magic land. The writing is so good. It’s a beautiful series, one I won’t forget. Thank you for this!
I thought there was a great balance between the reality competition and the politics of the world. There was a bit of suspense along the way with some of the events that happen, so I liked that it kept me guessing a bit. I thought the romance got a little stronger too, with more serious conversations occurring than just quick quips.
