Sofia I met him when I was eight years old. I thought he was my best friend. I thought he loved me, it is why I agreed to marry him. He was my everything. Until he was not. It was all a lie, an agreement between his family and mine. I cannot stay. I must save myself and our unborn child that he doesn’t know about from my fate. Leaving him was the only option. But what happens when he finds me again?
Damian It was all an arrangement from when I was twelve. One I did not want. I had to woo her, make her fall for me. She was more than I realise. I fell for her without realising soon enough. I lost her. She left me on our wedding day. I hurt her, lied to her but I need her. I am trying to find her. But what do I do now that I have found her. She is not alone. I must fight for her, but she doesn’t trust me. I can’t let her go a second time. It is not just about us this time.
This can be read as a standalone, it is book 1 of 3, bound mafia series, with a HEA. Due to mature content and themes this book is recommended for readers aged 18+, this novel may contain triggers.
What a clusterfuck of epic proportions! Throw in a manwhore Zero fucking anything with a pulse, chlamydia infection, sobbing mafia men, h's mom giving permission to her lover to sexually abuse the h, and the heroine's father in a threesome with his niece (gag)🤢🤮...aaaand I'm out! I skip-read this book. And what about proofreading... it has to be put through a wringer for heaven's sake 🙄!

I’m not gonna rate this book because this is a joke… I’ve never read anything like this but let me tell you this is NOT a mafia book! I’ve been cheated on like the heroine in this book. He is supposed to be the next leader and he is in an arranged marriage with Sophia ( h) since they were children but this is not a mafia book. This is a cheating book full of references about hero’s sex life through their engagement… He cheats and cheats with a lot of women and she recorded one of them! But it’s not only the cheating:::: He gave her clamydia!!! And they joke about it!!!
Still, this book which is not a mafia book…🙄 justifies all the cheating I’ve read a few authors who clearly hate women but this author is just a little crazy ( with all the respect) this is a shit show like you’ve never read before! Madre mía! Her father almost freaks with his niece… his brother freaks women with him… all over town and in heroine’s and hero’s house!!! There are no words friends! The rocky horror picture show of romance books!!! Still she says she didn’t leave because of the cheating… Ah! And every time she shows some backbone hero gets hard… I’m flipping! 😂 I’m not even mad… I’m in shock!!!
In what world, is the man who cheated on you repeatedly, gave you chlamydia and lied to you your WHOLE life is forgivable? In what world would you still love him and let him touch you? the H is so yucky that it's actually a comedy.
Not my usual drill as it's OTT angst and misogyny by the hero who is the Prince of Poop and needs to die a fiery death in the pits of Mordor. The h overhears the H and what she thought was a close friend the night before their wedding right after she's seen them in a small but select orgy. In his own words....
But he loves her, really, really loves her and could only get frisky with these hundreds of women, including her cousin, if he thought of the h first. Who could resist?
The smart little mafia/Bratva heroine, smarter than any of the male appendages in the story, marries him then escapes and leaves video evidence of the love the H feels for her. That was irony folks. She's in Marfa, TX of all places, and is found through a sheer accident not through any brilliance or great investigation. Although what one of the meathead flunkies is doing in Marfa escaped me. Come back to the mob, Jimmie Dean?
H and crew realize they've messed up and the H contemplates I swallow hard as my brother continues, "Do we fly there and bring her home, or do we let her continue to live her life where she seems to be happy, content, and carefree?" YES! Do that!
His brother points out, "Brother, it's been three years, and you haven't exactly slept with any women. Yes, you've tried, but you didn't succeed. You wanted your wife but didn't think you would find her; you also wanted to punish her a little, too. I think she'll understand, and Savannah doesn't count, either. She only gave you a lap dance. You didn't get off."
I know I'll have to tell her about the women I tried to sleep with since she's been gone, and the women I've let grind on me in the strip club, or have tried to suck me off. Still, I never got off or even hard, so I'm hoping that will work in my favor, right? Look at me, a pussy whipped soon-to-be Don and Bratva Pahkan. Yeah, the men would love this!
Gee, not as much as she will.
The heroine makes the book. She leaves a scared little pregnant princess and comes back a gun toting chick that is ready to eliminate any threat to her daughter and doesn't want to put up with the oceans of women her diseased husband has had sex with. Too bad as they are legion, but she ends up scaring the hero as much as she does the side chicks. McGinlay also creates a heroine that plans ahead and uses her brain. Shocking news in Romancelandia. She knows it's a matter of time before she's found and makes arrangements to protect her daughter. And her reasons for leaving are more than just distress over his cheating and cruel words. Honestly, she should be head of whatever family Italian/Russian mob.
True love? I don't know, but I feel he will be faithful from now on as I doubt she'll have any problem fitting him with cement shoes to match his tux.
3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK or decent reads. ============================ S P O I L E R . . . Our hero is disgusting and has chlamydia which he contracted from having indiscriminate sex. Our heroine catches him and his brother in the act with two sluts two days before the wedding, when she goes to their house with the news of her pregnancy. He didn't even respect their house. The house he shares with our heroine. They are in the living room of the house like a bunch of animals having sex. Our heroine ends up with problems during her pregnancy because she also contracted the STD.
Two things come to my mind after I’ve read this book. - bad romance, Lady Gaga. - creepy telenovelas of the 90s. I didn’t know if I wanted to weep or laugh. I did neither. I must admit sometimes I laughed because the heroine threw so much shit on everyone that was really rewarding, but the whole story is ludicrous and the characters, I don’t know, looked a bit caricatured and stereotyped but in a wrong kind of way. They should be hard assed mafia and bratva men but they look like whipped pussies that are only interested in, well, pussy. The hero should be the future bratva +mafia boss, but all he can do is have promiscuous, incestuous and borderline gay sex with a lot of whores and a lot of members of both family, which is quite disgusting. I want to think that the author wrote this book as some kind of parody of mafia books, which would be ok to me, and I would the give four stars because most situations were really ludicrous but I am afraid she wanted it to look real. The hero is in an arranged relationship and about to marry the heroine, has been cheating on her until two days before their wedding and yes, he was also having se with her. He gave her clamidya because he went bareback with a woman who was having sex with all his family, brother, cousin, father in law, yuck. This is not mafia, this is bordello. This is porn movie. They have threesome, the heroine father has a threesome with his niece and another woman, the woman one hour later has sex with the hero and the heroine, during one of the most entertaining moments and in front of all their families, let the hero know that, since her father had sex with this woman and she didn’t even wash herself, and he had she’s with her one hour later, he basically had sex with his father in law. I was laughing my ass out, rolling on the floor. The heroine finds out, leaves the hero and gives birth to their daughter having no intention of ever coming back, but of course he finds her and tries to win her back. During the three years of separation he tries to have sex with women basically every night but he never manages, not for lack of trying, but because his dick didn’t work anymore. I liked the heroine until she gave in and went back to him. He was a wimpy cry boy. A spoiled manwhore. An idiot. A weak, pathetic useless and worthless piece of shit. I can’t believe one like him would ever be a good boss. And all the men are crybabies, always cry, and are ashamed when the heroine calls them out on their actions which made me cringe in second hand embarrassment. In the end it was a farce, and I couldn’t even be angry, or feel angst. Of course, no way the hero was forgivable. He was a sad fuckboy, I never found him sexy, he was disgusting. I don’t find men who have the necessity to fuck several women sexy, to me it means they are not men enough to handle one woman and need to be stimulated by novelty unless they can’t perform well. IMO a sexy and very manly man is self confident enough to enjoy sex with a steady partner much more than many meaningless encounters because he doesn’t need the dopamine of new and unexpected women. The heroine of course was celibate and the hero was her one and only. So, so sad and disappointing.
Oh WOW! What a load of sh*t show!!! I mean, what the hell did I just land myself into? I admit, the beginning was climatic but it's also If you're looking for a book where you would want to smash something to the floor, this would be it.
Read it for the OW drama. That’d be the only reason to read it.
The writing was not great, to the point I wondered if English was not the author’s first language. Maybe it’s just the author lacked the command of English necessary for the plot.
If you are in a mood for a mafia book then this is definitely not the book. Every second sentence someone was giggling (yes giggling), chuckling or giving pecks on the cheek. I mean yes I want all of that IF I was reading a rom com. Also the betrayal was so big from everyone but when they came looking for her, the heroine just accepted pretty much anything without any real grovel. I gave it 3 stars because as a rom com would be a good story.
Originally a dnf, and thought I'd go back because who the hell knows why. It was OTT ridiculous with loads of cheating from everyone except the h Sophia. Promised to the future Don of the Bratva mafia, Sophia is blind to future husband who is courting her while he's sleeping with everyone. Little age gap. His favorite being his secretary. She catches him days before their wedding having a foursome with his brother, secretary, and Mindy who gives chlamydia to everyone. Great parting gift as you'll read later. She's heartbroken, but video tapes everything. It was seriously gross. Actually nothing sexy or romantic about this book. 🙃 She leaves, but under the guise that people think she's dead. She heads to Texas where while pregnant she's informed she has chlamydia. Yikes! 😬 Yes, I know. What more can we love this H for? 🤢🤮 Anyways, he finds her. Brings her back to New York and this and that happens, and HEA. Honestly, Sophia should be running the Russian mafia. She's outsmarting everyone while they're all crying and moping around. Separated for 3 years and in-between that time the H Damien tried his very best to f*** other women, but just couldn't go through with in the end. Everyone collectively roll your eyes. 😑 Good grief. Will I read the next book? Yes, I will. It sound's even worse. There are no faithful heroes in this OTT drama of fiction, but here I am. 🤦 I. Can. Not. Look. Away. Send help.. 🤣

Reread review I read this awhile back and forgot to write a review . I was looking for a CIA book and this came up so I decided to do a quick reread and move on to the next In series. Damien and Sofia have been in arranged marriage since childhood 8/12. He’s been cheating since he first got his dick wet. His number maybe In Tne double digit thousands according to CM’s math. The book begins with pregnant Sofia walking In on a 4 some with his brother and his secretary and her friend. Damian has been getting it on with the secretary 3 days a week since he was 16. He’s 24 now so that 8 years. So 1256 times he’s fked Candice the secretary. Plus he gets it on with various and sundry other women on the regular. This dude is a manho extroidinaire…. And he’s also banging Sofia. I guess that’s why he sucks at running the Bratva and mafia. So Sofia sees him and then he and his also engaged brother bash her verbally. She decides to go through with the marriage that’s happening In 2 days so she can make a plan of escape. She runs away at the reception. 3 years later after Damian fails to get his rocks off after trying literally every night with hookers, strippers, Candice the secretary and who knows what else….thats 1095 times.🤣Dude may not be anything else but he’s persistent— anyways 3 years later he finds Sofia and is determined to woo her back with his chlamydia covered cock. Can anyone else say let’s get it on????? NOT!!! Meanwhile Sofia who should be the The HMFIC has the goods on everybody in the family. Chick knows how to deep dive and get the intel. She’s also now a sharpshooter and Kung foo fighter and Mama Bear. Damian says he won’t screw around anymore— I mean he’s already screwed about 10K times maybe he’s had enough. Meanwhile Sofia has only had sex with one man- Damian. He must have a magic dick though despite the chlamydia… because she takes him back pretty easily. Oh and when he brings her to his office guess who is still his secretary? Yep Candice his 1256 night stand. He does fire her though after Sofia puts a fck ton of whoop ass on her. I don’t know about y’all but Damian is my new BBF! 🤣🤣🤣believe that and I’ve got some swampland in Florida— I’ll make you a great deal on!
So I still really enjoyed the story and all the amazing drama. I wanted to edit my original review to say it seems like the book was edited because my past complaint about saying a word in Russian or Italian and then putting it in English too seems to be gone / better. There's still a few errors I noticed, but none of them were bad enough to completely take me out of the story
Now that the book is better edited I'm raising my rating from 3 to 4.5 ☆ but I'll be rounding up to 5☆
Original review
My rating for this one is a little different from my usual.
The story would have been 4.5 ☆
The editing is 1☆
And the fact that EVERY time someone says a nickname in Russian or Italian, it says the word and then the English translation in parenthesis. It may not sound like a big deal but she is called "princess" in 2 languages, "my love" and "baby girl" in Russian and EVERY TIME IT LETS US KNOW IN ENGLISH TOO!!! If it was the first couple times, I wouldn't complain, but it made me think the authors either trying to up the word count or thinks readers are stupid and would forget after the 79th time. If I gave a star rating based on that, it would be negative 12☆
Ignoring the editing and repeating of translation, I actually really liked the book a lot. It's a great cheating book, and I love how bad ass Sophia was throughout the story and I felt so bad for everything she's been through from everyone in her life. The pacing was good. In the beginning, I felt like I got thrown into the deep end, but it got better after a few chapters.
Not gonna lie, I went into this book with a huge chip on my shoulder. I love the angst of a cheating book but I need the MMC to effng GROVEL! That didn’t necessarily happen here as far as Damien is concerned, but his internal torment helped his case. Lots of getting in touch with his emotions that I really appreciated. My expectations were pretty low for this based on what I’d read but I ended up enjoying it and bumped my 3.5 star rating to a 4.
H - "I love the h sooooooo much that I will screw everything with a hole because I can't admit it to myself."
Cheating = h sees H 2 days before wedding with OW giving him a BJ (OW gives H a big ole tongue kiss after, even though H claims that he won't go down on OWs or kiss them because that's too intimate *eye roll*); H was never faithful to h, but H figures that when he sees h walking down the aisle that starting now he will be faithful, like W-T-F?? Ugh. Yet when h runs away after wedding, H tries -NIGHTLY- to screw others for a few hours to make his poor broken heart feel better.
Grovel = Girl!! There was so much that H and h's family had to grovel for!! Like I will forget more than I remember! Poor h!! H grovel = He needed to grovel for the awful things he said about h she overheard right after she saw him getting BJ from OW; He needed to grovel for alllllllll the many women he screwed while with h and the ones after h ran off h's mom grovel = mom needed to grovel for beating her daughter, being verbally abusive; FOR GIVING PERMISSION TO A P.O.S. BODYGUARD TO DO WHATEVR HE WANTED TO h, where he REPEATEDLY tried to sexually assault (succeeded a few times with digital penetration) and did physically assault h multiple times h's dad grovel = basically sold off his 8 yoa daughter to get an alliance through arranged marriage to H; never paid attention to what his wife was doing and was blind to the abuse his daughter was going through
OWD = one OW tried to claim, several times, that H got her pregnant (this one worked as secretary for H, so he had easy access to her and she was the same one who h saw giving BJ to H); one of the many OW was the COUSIN of the h who loved throwing it in h's face that she had H (h's aunt and the cousin were involved in another plot against h's dad)
Ick factor = one of the many OW (you find out it was 3 -THREE- OW in total) had a STD that was passed to H who had UNPROTECTED sex and then later the same day had UNPROTECTED sex with h (dirty dick didn't even shower between *barf emoji*); H's brother was also gifted with this....oh and h found out she had when she went in for her PRENATAL appointment! H put his unborn child at risk, regardless of whether he was aware of h's pregnancy.
All in all, very entertaining book. I have read several of this author's books and have been highly entertained. Love that she has the drama, the grovel and the confrontations. Yes, some things are outlandish , but it's juicy fiction, suspend belief and enjoy.

Oh boy, where to start? I grabbed this from KU because I was in the mood for a mafia romance and sadly this was not it, unless grown mafia badasses spend much of the book crying like girls 🙄
I don't usually have a problem with cheating but Damian was revolting with the way he spread his d!ck around, to the point of giving his pregnant, soon to be wife chlamydia. He was just that gross. I rather liked Sofia until she pulled her steaming 180 and started pulling her mafia-killer moves that was just ridiculous and came out of left field. So it's fair to say I struggled with the caricature characters.
The editing was not all that great, and this is marked on Amazon as re-edited. Don't even get me started on the repetitive: 40 times kisses on the cheek 47 sob/sobbing 111 tears
I struggled to finish this and wouldn't have done so without skimming. I've tried another book by this author and that was a fail, I think I need to leave well alone now.
Damian decides cheating is better than facing how he feels. When Sofia catches him red handed she still goes through with the wedding and disappears for three years.
This was absolutely fantastic. I loved the story. It hooked you right from the start and didn't let go at all. The only thing that pissed me off was her mother. I don't think she deserved what she got at all. I can't wait to read the next book.
DNF @ 30ish% This is over-the-top dumb. I’m usually not picky about the writing but this one stands out as particularly subpar. The characters are completely one-dimensional. None of it believable. I tried.
I am 41% in and I’m really enjoying this book so far. The betrayal and the pacing are perfect. Not too much not too little, ending at the right points. Every conversation that needs to happen is happening. I will give a better review when I’m done but the ONLY thing that is a problem so far is the grammar errors. Using revolution in place of revulsion or release in place of relief. Those are hugely inaccurate and it’s ruining a story I’m throughly enjoying for once. I am already thinking about reading all the rest of this author’s books it’s so enjoyable so far! That is impressive, for a new to me author. I hope this ends as well as it’s gone so far. 🤞🤞🏽
50% UPDATE
Omg this book got incredibly stupid insanely fast! lol. And gross too. The MMC decided out of all his years of cheating to go bare a week before his wedding with his long time mistress and her spare, who he KNEW was also banging the FMC’s father(!) and got and STI!! Which he then passed onto the FMC two days before the wedding!! Which she found out about well after leaving him but right in the middle of her pregnancy. I’m dying here! This is on top of finding out that during the three year separation the MMC was still f#€king around with a lot of other women, if not with the regular ones he grew up messing around with. Granted he supposedly could never get hard and so no actual intercourse happened but any sexual acts is still sex to me and therefore he was betraying his vows. Never mind that the FMC was gone, they were still married. He showed zero growth in judgment other than not to keep going back to his mistress. Smh.
71% UPDATE
I am really enjoying this book even though it went to shit at the half way point. But honestly the MMC is NOT redeemable! At the 70% point we find out that due to all these male characters sharing the same nasty holes, that he had sex two hours after the FMC’s father had sex with the same woman, and she didn’t shower in between!! This is vomit worthy material right here! Lmbo Smdh.
73% UPDATE
Chapter 27 starts with the MMC absolutely in heaven that the FMC gave him hope with a kiss she initiated and I’m completely grossed out!! I wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole wrapped in a disinfectant condom sheath!! We literally just read that the MMC was so promiscuous that he was sharing partners with the FMC’s father! His brother and others too, btw. The same nasty holes that gave him/all of them, the STI! The FMC’s father who had s e x with his own niece while drugged, that also had s e x with the MMC and the diseased regular OW. So basically the FMC had s e x with her own father!! It is seriously an incestuous free for all in this book! I can tolerate incest in the right context but this storyline is a prime example of how diseases spread and I will not believe the HEA. It’s too icky for words!
This author is entertaining me but I’m afraid of what her other books will include if she is not squeamish about circular s e x rings. 🤮🤮.
FINAL UPDATE
Well I’m a sucker for therapy. This author threw in on page therapy sessions that allowed for more discussions on hard topics but also for the characters to find their way back to a better relationship together as a couple but as a family. Outside of the therapy sessions these characters had a lot more confrontations between each other and all the villains in the book. I loved all the comeuppance that was dealt out to all of them. It wasn’t brushed aside for a quick HEA. While the last comeuppance wasn’t on page we at least heard about it and that gives me closure on all points.
This book started out strong, then got a lot crazy in the middle but ended really well. I can say I am content with the outcome. Personally, I would never, and I mean NEVER, have forgiven the MMC or the FMC’s mother. Both of them endangered the FMC in different yet very real ways, due to their own hang ups. I would never have allowed the MMC to touch me or my child in real life without SEVERAL medical clearances over a few years of documented abstinence lol. The FMC’s mother never would have seen my child let alone been around for the birth of the next. So while I personally don’t feel that their actions and characters were forgivable, the author put on page some work by both of them to redeem themselves in the context of this story. Not enough, but effort was made all the same.
I want to clarify that the MMC never stopped trying to have s e x with OW though. So it wasn’t that he chose to stop cheating, it was that he couldn’t have s e x with OW. His guilt was already starting to give him erectile dysfunction before the FMC even found out about the cheating. And after the FMC disappeared he was impotent with OW. He had already been making all his liaisons mentally about the FMC so this was not a surprise. However, he still was chasing OW during their separation. On the day he found her he had just had a woman lap dancing to orgasm on his lap. He didn’t release but he was still trying. So while he repeatedly stated he had already decided to be faithful the day before his wedding, he never actually did it. He didn’t get the chance as the FMC ran away, but also he had excuse after excuse as to why he kept trying during those three years. I mean seriously people, if you don’t get ANYTHING from a sexual encounter for years, why would you keep doing it?!? Habit is the answer. Habits are hard to break! So I will never believe this MMC will ever be faithful.
Besides that, I hated that every single person in this book told the FMC to give the MMC a second chance because SHE loved him. I’m not even going to dignify that rationale other than to say, that if something you love is detrimental to you in a physical, emotional, and mental way then you need to move on. The MMC hit all of those criteria. I mean look at the FMC’s parents. They honestly should have been knocked off by all the people who were trying to destroy them and it would have made them more realistic than what we got on page. I like forgiveness but in their case it was unbelievable. Also it tarnished the FMC’s strength by having her forgive and take back the MMC with not enough effort on his part. Just my opinion on their situation.
I started this review excited that I had found my newest four star read, it unfortunately devolved after half way through and I can only give it three stars. I did enjoy it and it handled every conflict raised, it still went haywire in the middle like the author lost focus or something. The grammar errors became more prevalent and while it is minor, those incorrect words totally messed up the flow of the story. Like slop in place of slope. Ridiculous, smh. Also, the acknowledgement of time was off too. First the child is two, then three, then back to two, repeatedly throughout the whole story. Names kept switching from Malvin to Marvin over and over again. Mixing which character was being discussed with another characters name too. It was sloppy for sure. I really did enjoy this book but it needs more editing for grammar and continuity.
I will read more by this author. I like the way the story is completed. No left over bits like the author forgot about them or something. Each story per the blurbs is a standalone so I will probably read them out of order as it interests me, which is refreshing. Thank you author for finding me. Enjoy.
UPDATE 5-6-2025
I FINALLY realized what my issues are with this book! lol. It has lived rent free in my head since it came out and I read it. I haven’t reread it because I find it too a dense read for me lately. But I just joined audible and it has this book being read by AI. It’s read decent enough, if you listen to Reddit stories it’s basically the same thing.
Anyway, my issue is that this is a Bratva & Mafia setting. And yet nobody gets k!lled for the betrayal or for the fuck ups or for the plotting against them that they do. A few random nonplot related NPC’s are bumped off for proof it’s a “dark” romance purposes only. Yet only one plot relevant NPC gets killed by a main character. Honestly he should have been t0rtured on page for what he did to a Mafia princess & Bratva bride. He was bumped off too easily meanwhile the clown show of drama by everyone goes on with no consequences.
Where’s the Bratva brutality?!? Where’s the long arm of the Mafia?!? Why wasn’t all these people WACKED off for all their treasonous behaviors to the individual outfits? It was personal! These betrayals was by dirty greedy henchmen or randos. It was family, close trusted employees. All the characters that should get gutted with a dirty spoon just aren’t. I just don’t find the setting to match the world it’s in. I highly doubt either the Bratva or Mafia would let these types of shenanigans continue for weeks let alone for years nevermind by the same people. I am positive there is a high turnover rate for personnel in these types of jobs. Just saying. lol.
No matter what, I have come to love this author because it is absurd what these characters get up to to self sabotage their own lives but I do have to say this series was the absolute best work by this author. Her other books are lighter in material and in word count so they are easier reads. I wish she had more of these denser storylines in her library catalog. Enjoy.
The book had promise, but it needs a really good edit.
2/5
I liked the premise, I’m a sucker for a second chance romance. This was recommended through a Facebook book group. Unfortunately it missed the mark for me. Mainly due to the editing, but sometimes it felt a bit juvenile.
I loved the nicknames, but the English doesn't need to be put in brackets every time. A list of words and their translations/meanings at the start of the book would suffice. The reason for this is that every time you read the English meaning in brackets, it takes you out of the story. Also, it's quite obvious in the scenes who is who. For example, when Mila reaches for her grandmother, it's already explained in the sentence who it was, so we don't need in brackets that Nona is Nana. The same goes for when the other grandparents hug Mila. We already know who they are, so it's easy to decipher the names. Readers aren't silly! I just found it so distracting, and if there's a list at the start of the book (like I've seen from other major authors), then we have something to refer to if needed.
Easily spotted mistakes….
Bachelor not Batchelor Hypocritical not Hypercritical. They’re not their. A part not apart. Sigh not sign. Plus many others.
The mistakes are such an easy fix. It's so annoying because they completely distract me from what I'm reading and take away the enjoyment of the story.
Also, there's a bit of a plot hole. Later on in the story, they constantly bump into Damien's old ‘conquests’….How did that not happen before then? Surely, if it happens that easily now, it would've happened a lot before Sofia left as well. They were together for a long time and spent a lot of time together, etc. If they were that bold now, they would’ve been that bold back then as well.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. However, certain sentences lacked coherence, making it challenging to read smoothly.
Edited to add- I’ve just read this was the authors first book!
This author has committed two sins: she has italian characters using improper Italian and the even greater one of having characters who make no sense. You are writing Mafia books, and they all act like sissies. A torture scene not a mafia don makes if the rest of the time he's a spineless whinger. A good editor who pointed out every two sentences or so that we are talking about mafia could have cured the book and made it into a much better product.
Gosh I was forgetting the bit that made me stop reading: so the girl is duped into thinking that the guy she knew for 12 years was a sincere friend and then lover, when he was in reality being forced into an arranged marriage and in all the time they knew each other he was cheating on her. So she catches him in the act, but doesn't say anything, proceeds to marry him and afterwards disappear while pregnant with his baby. Three years later she has managed to become a nurse, the baby is fine, but of course she's found by her husband and the family and right here the author forgot to tell us that she got into an accident that lobotomized her because she comes up with a legal document who makes no sense and I am pretty sure an attorney would be disbarred for writing as courts usually don't like blackmail about seeing one's child and after that he'd get sole custody in a heartbeat.
Ever had a romance novel make you feel nauseous when the main couple finally reunite and have sex? ✋
I’ve read a lot of books, cheating, dark torture even sex trafficking. So when I say the only thing I felt during the main couple’s intimate scenes was nausea it’s saying something. Read my highlights for the gems featured in this tragedy, mostly describing the Zeros numerous cheating scenes and inner thoughts.
On top of this, the side characters are equally as bad, so there’s just no redeeming anyone in this story. I read reviews and was forewarned how bad this was but curiosity won out. Try reading this as a satire is my suggestion.
This is one of these books that was hard for me to rate. I like the Angst and the FMC is strong and brave. She protecting her daughter and not wanting to see a repeated cycle of a arranged marriage was the only reason I kept reading. The MMC can be thrown in the garbage 🗑 though. I had a hard time believing he was redeemable as a faithful husband. He cheated so much and even told her when they reunited after 3 years that he would continue to have mistresses. Its clear he does love the FMC but faithful..not so sure. There is violence and revenge killings.
I’ve read several books by this author and it’s become a sort of guilty pleasure because I know the writing is crap and the stories are littered with plot holes and awful formatting but the angst is what draws me in every time.
This author has a true gift when it comes to the angst but the fleshing out of the stories just isn’t there.
This one is by far the worst one yet. In her other series you can actually feel how deeply the men love the women, even while making huge mistakes and being generally morons, but not in this book.
The MC in this one was pure shit. They basically grow up together from the age of 8 (h) and 11 (H). At the age of 11 the MC is told to make the FMC fall in love with him for a mafia alliance. So he’s basically grooming this girl who grows up believing this guy is her best friend turned lover. Meanwhile, the MC is screwing literally every female around since the age of freaking 11!!! And the whole family knows everything while keeping her in the dark.
This poor girl gives him her virginity, thinking this perfect man is the love of her life and vice versa, and he can’t even say the words “I love you”.
Flash forward to two days before their wedding and she walks in on him and his brother (who is like a brother to her as well) screwing two women in their home all over the furniture she loves. She was there to deliver the exciting news that they were pregnant.
She goes through with the wedding but leaves and goes into hiding the after the reception. She’s gone for three years before they find her living her best life in a small Texas town.
The MC claims he cheated because he couldn’t admit his true feelings for her (insert eye roll), and the whole three years she was gone he repeatedly tried to fuck other women but couldn’t because his dick won’t work. Yet he loves her sooooo much.
And yes…. She’s celibate and he remains the only man she’s ever been with. Ugh.
Oh, and he gave her chlamydia and she found out while she was pregnant. STD’s are so romantic.
When they see each other again he loses his shit and basically yells at her that she should have expected him to have mistresses and to be grateful her family wanted it to at least be hidden from her. Then calls her selfish.
I can get behind the angst and heartbreaking drama, but not once does the MC show his love. We don’t see it. He says (in his head) she’s his and he’s madly in love with her, but we don’t see or feel it from him.
I had to DNF at 48% because I was falling asleep.
We will have a scene from one character’s POV and then the next chapter is the same exact scene from a different POV. Repetitive and boring. Or we have one POV scene and the next chapter is the other POV but it rewinds to the beginning of their day until it reaches the following scene and then we can move forward. It got so bad that I actually got angry while reading this.
The FMC is weak and so damn stupid and the MC is disgusting and worthless. He doesn’t grovel or apologize.
Just no.

This is truly an all around craptastic experience! I will preface this by saying, I don't enjoy cheating, but I KNEW coming in to this book that he had lied and cheating is at the very beginning, so I was prepared for it to be in there and I gritted my teeth and said "Okay, let's see if there is any way on gods green grass that he can be redeemed". Sadly, my optimism was badly misplaced. Around the time we find out that after she leaves him for cheating and runs away, he "tries" to fuck other women EVERY DAY for 3 years and then on his very first meeting where he wants to try to get her back he yells at her for wanting him to sign paperwork stating that he can't sell their daughter in an arraigned marriage, calls her a bitch says that she's overreacting and she should expect him to have mistresses I stopped hoping and just started hate reading. This is a lot like watching an orangutan try to fuck a skunk, a truly horrifying yet morbidly fascinating journey. By the time she starts giving a very confusing speech where she's trying to insult both the OW and the H by announcing she had Chlamydia and her entire family and friends are giving her the "Ah give the poor, perpetually lying, cheating bastard another chance!" line, I decided that was past my hard limit of deluge and gas lighting for the day and that this book masochist had entered and left literary sub-space. Beyond all this, there were typos and bad editing galore and I'm not a stickler for it at all, I just want you to write slightly better than me texting an ex at 3am while drunk. Speaking of Alcohol, it's time to go have a drink and forget this book exists
