Jan Błoński was a Polish historian, literary critic, publicist and translator. Professor of the Jagiellonian University. As a historian, he specialized in the history of literature and history of Jews in Poland.

His 1987 essay Biedni Polacy patrzą na getto ("Poor Poles looking at the Ghetto" ), published in Tygodnik Powszechny, led to a major debate in Poland on the Holocaust and the question of whether there was a moral responsibility of Polish society.
