He isn't sure which surprises him more-Luna's clever plan for turning the mansion into a resort of the fact that she's drop-dead gorgeous. I have to say this was the best book in this series mainly because I found some sort of an equality between the h/H and despite the heroine being less experienced I really liked how she was so pragmatic about the status of their relationship.

The heroine is half-were who hasn't really belonged to any pack because until puberty she didn't even know she was Were so when she turned it scared her and she had no-one to ask questions from, her mother was dead and her father too. So, she always been careful and celibate knowing nothing about Were life-style, mating habits, not letting anyone know about who she is and even when she finds out her father is dead and has a family she keeps to herself but she finally seems to have found her place in life and now her boss is dead and her nephew who inherited everything might sell.

The hero is the Alpha of his pack and he believes that humans and Were don't mix but his younger brother Duncan has different ideas. He comes to sell his aunt's place because despite the fact he loves the place, he has responsibilities elsewhere, then he meets Luna and listens to her plans of opening an inn and likes them.

He is also attracted to her and shocked by her inexperience. Luna tells him how she didn't grow up around pack and he lets her asks her questions and they become lovers but when she listens to his thoughts about humans and Were she tells him that her mother was human.

I really liked it that the heroine totally shut him down and refused to sleep with him from that point and instead he actually has to chase her. She was also awesome about the fact that they didn't have a future and even when he tried to talk about something like that was flippant. I liked seeing a heroine who could actually function without the hero instead when he saw that was fine with it, he wasn't.

We also see a bit of pack politics and learn about her parent's past. I liked the end when Colin comes after her. Looking forward to Duncan's book.

Vicki Lewis Thompson has a wonderfully engaging style that swept me away as I read her nerd romance novels. The humor and romance has kept me reading the werewolf series as well, but I have to admit I wish she'd move on to something else. I don't think she will because she seemed to have set up a sequel, but I have to hope.

The problem is the same problem I've had ever since I started reading her werewolf stories. I don't believe the werewolves. That's a problem for a fantasy fan. The wolves aren't all that magical, they don't seem fierce (more like puppies), and the mating thing is utterly absurd. I think it was supposed to be funny at first that wolves couldn't reproduce until they went through a mating ritual involving (brace yourself) doing it doggie-style, but I didn't think it was funny. I have also never wished more fervently that an author would ignore internal consistency and break her own established rule in future novels. I almost thought she would try to get around it in this book -- it seemed like the two might accidentally bond/mate.

I can't recommend the werewolf romance novels to fantasy fans. If you're a Vicki Lewis Thompson fan and aren't as disappointed by her version of wolves as me, enjoy!

If you've never read Thompson, try her nerd romance novels. Funny and romantic.

I get a kick out of this series. On the surface it is a light paranormal romance but underneath it all it is all about tolerance or intolerance as the case may be. In the first two books the Wallace brothers have found human mates much to the consternation of their peers. In Werewolf in Seattle Luna Reynaud is a half breed human-were. She hides this fact by not getting close to anybody until she goes to work for Colin McDowell’s Aunt Geraldine until she passes. When Colin (the pack leader of the Trevelyans in Scotland) inherits Aunt Geraldine’s home and island just outside Seattle, WA USA he figures he will settle with the employees and sell it as quick as he can. Luna and the other employees have found a home on the island and have come up with a plan to turn it into an exclusive get-away for weres. The attraction between Colin and Luna is instantaneous and incendiary. Now if he could only get over his prejudice.

I’ve really enjoyed reading Vicki Lewis Thompson’s paranormals, and she continues with her Wild About You series with a gentle and sensitive alpha werewolf who gets an attitude adjustment in his beliefs when he meets our heroine. Their romance is sweet but doomed. The wolf thinks he’ll be able to control his instincts, but he’s in for a huge surprise.

Colin is headed to his late great aunt’s island estate, thinking he’ll make quick arrangements to sell it all so he can return to Scotland to get back to his clan and his brother, who’s very good at keeping Colin cleaning up issue after issue. Though he has pleasant memories of visiting his aunt and the island, his duties as laird just won’t allow him to take on more responsibility.

Never fitting in nor having a home until she met Geraldine, Luna loves the Pacific Northwest island that has called to her since she arrived. She’s a hybrid, half were and half human, and never had anyone to guide her throughout her were life. Not wanting to lose the only place she’s felt comfortable, she has decided to propose a business opportunity to Colin when he arrives – turn the house and island into an exclusive shifter retreat.

When these two meet, the attraction is instant. Luna is determined to keep her distance because of her proposal, but Colin doesn’t care one whit about business getting in the way of having that lovely assistant in his bed. He doesn’t hide his feelings about weres mating with humans, so that’s another reason Luna doesn’t want to get involved with him, but good intentions on both sides go by the wayside every time they’re together. I like the early sexual tension between them, they don’t hide it, even if they don’t act on it then. And we don’t have to wait three-quarters of the book before they do fire up the pages between the sheets.

Colin tries to hold on to his idea that humans and weres don’t and shouldn’t mix, but meeting Luna makes him rethink things after a bit. He also helps her find some of her family, but they run into trouble on one end while finding a new beginning on the other for Luna. Colin has trouble of his own at home, so the time comes when he has to leave. Though they both know this time has to come, you begin to wonder what Ms. Thompson will do to get them to their happily ever after. You know it has to come, but the anticipation is fun until you get there.

Colin is a delightful hero, kind, generous, gentle, and sexy as all get-out. He even dons a kilt at one point and you can’t help but drool over him. Luna is a combination of savvy and innocence, which is due to her being alone with her werewolf-ness while growing up. There are some quirky secondary characters who keep the laughter high. This is a fun, light-hearted romance, as are the previous books in this series. It’s a feel-good read that will brighten any bad mood or reading slump. If you’re not sure what to read next, try this one. It’s time for some fun!

I only gave this one 2 stars because about 1/2 way through I started getting annoyed with Luna. There's innocent naivete and then there's 'Darwin Award' winningly stupid, Luna was edging closer and closer to the Darwin award end of the scale. While she wasn't too stupid to function, some of the things she said and did really bugged me; particularly because she was so smart in other parts of the story.
Colin was also slapable at a few points, being a stubborn ass-hat and all, mostly it annoyed me that although he was supposed to be Scottish, it seemed limited to having 'wee' or 'lass' or 'daft' stuck into a sentence every now and then. I didn't read him as being Scottish at all and other than it being a plot device, there was really no reason for him not to be American - as that's how I read him anyway.
I ended up skimming through the last 1/3 of the book, Luna and Colin, although cute and likeable, were just grating on my nerves... it was still a nice story, just not as good as the first 2.

I do love these werewolf books from this author. This is the third in the series. Each has "starred" a handsome, urbane, sexy, intelligent, and irresistible hero. The twist in this book over the first two is the heroine, a "half-breed", i.e. her mother was human and her father a were. Both parents are deceased and Luna, the heroine, is alone in the world. She didn't know she was a were until her first change, which scared her to death. She places herself separate from the world, until she takes a job as a personal secretary to an elderly female were. She's there a year when her boss dies, bringing in the new owner, the owner's nephew from Scotland (psst...our hero!)

The setting was ideal. I felt like I experienced living on this island. In fact, I want to vacation there! Love the house, the view, and the new hot tub.

If you're looking for a light paranormal, an enjoyable fast read, I can recommend this book. I think you'll have fun!

This is good so far, except the writer has the main character saying "y'all" for just one person....I know that is the stereotype, but I have NEVER in my 48 years in the South heard anyone use that word to reference a single!

Listening to series on Audiobook

I enjoyed the first 2 books in this series but I don't feel the characters in this one had the same depth as the Wallace brothers. The story had some interesting points and the concept was good but for some reason for me it just didn't take off. I didn't connect with the characters and I started to lose interest. If you are a fan of VLT you will probably enjoy this novel...the only books I have read of her's is this series. Over all just a meh read for me...din't love it, din't hate it..

2.5 stars for this less than inspiring read.

Well, 4 stars for what this book is, which I had no idea going into it... Yes, I genuinely had no clue that this was a romance novel, a Lady Chatterley's Lover of this era. It was predictable, reliable, and all-in-all just fine, thank you very much. No, I won't read the rest of the series. No, I don't recommend this as a "must-read" to my followers or anyone who has no interest in this type of book. P.S. The book is written from both Hottie-McHotty's and Experienced-Virgin's perspective, both with internal dialogue/their thoughts. Absolute classic... /sarcasm/

Also, maybe this type of book has a framework that every author uses, because it was very predictable: exotic guy meets plain-Jane girl; girl is pretty, guy is handsome; some of his quirks bug her, but overall she is sexually attracted to him; they finally shebang and deny that there are any mutual feelings, even though both acknowledge it in their internal dialogue; the two have to separate for some plot-related reason; neither can forget the other, realizing they both can't live without each other; the plot brings them back together "as if by fate"; they come back to each other and, bada-bang-bada-boom, everything is peachy and they live happily ever after. Blah blah blah - so unrealistic. Oh well, I suppose the books sell if the authors continue to publish them.

In terms of editing, there were several errors: the use of "Here, here!" when "Hear, hear!" is the correct phrase; the lovely waterfront market in downtown Seattle is known as Pike Place Market, absolutely no possessive!

I have really been enjoying this series, and I was excited to see that this episode involved two Weres. The connection between Luna and Colin was immediate, and their memorial for Geraldine was particularly moving. Although Luna is brilliant in many ways, she reveals that she is ignorant about quite a lot of details about being Were. Her backstory was so heartwrenching, and she lives in fear of rejection. Her background and fears added an excellent layer to this book because the characters have to discuss their prejudices and what it means to be "other" inside a community. Their conversations are very relevant to conversations that we need to be having in real life.
Luna has overcome a lot in her life, and she has done that through intelligence, courage, and grit. She is a great heroine. She has her fears, but she overcomes them and earns Colin's respect. Colin is so supportive of her and proud of her accomplishments. He also does a pretty great grovel for his early prejudice. He changes his mind about some key things, and he takes action to show those changes.
Of course, there are lots of fun parts in here, too. Colin and Luna have the hottest bookstore visit I've ever read. The secondary characters are very entertaining. And we get glimpses of Duncan, the hero of the next book. I can't wait to read more about him!

I think this is my favourite book in the werewolf series so far.

Thompson writes intimacy so well both sexual and emotional. One of my family therapy professors once said to me, though intimacy is often sexual, intimacy is also being able to feel vulnerable with someone while still feeling safe. It's being able to say "I don't know" without fear of being judged and I think Thompson does both this definition and the sexual definition of intimacy justice. Moreover, not only is she able to do this with human characters and personification of Weres, but she was also able to do this with the more wild side of Weres. This was perfectly depicted in Colin and Luna's last night (I'll leave it at that in order to avoid spoilers), but that scene was so satisfying and gave their angsty relationship a fair conclusion.

Lastly, don't forget to read the epilogue because it sure is delightful.

I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I like paranormal fiction, but werewolves have always been the one exception that just never connected for me. I try one every now and then just to see if there are stories I'd like that I just haven't discovered yet. This started out well, but ultimately wasn't for me.

I have absolutely no issue with sex scenes, especially in books that have a romance aspect. I can appreciate a hot, well-written sex scene as much as the next reader. Here's the thing, though, there is a very fine line between a sex scene that's hot and sexy, and one that comes across as icky. For me, the sex scenes in this book landed on the latter end of that spectrum. The way things were described made me scrunch up my face, rather than having my face flush. Just didn't work for me, and I did not finish the book

Apparently, werewolves still aren't my thing.

Just as good the second time..thanks to Vicki for letting me preview this book ...Colin ..Scottish Laird ...comes to Washington state after his aunt's death to deal with her island home... Luna..virgin ...half human(mother) half Were(father) has been an aid to Geraldine...Colin's aunt. She wants to open a resort for Were's only ..he wants to sell the property and get back to Scotland. The mystery of why her mom ran from her father...the interaction of the staff...loads of laughs..some tears...some sexy Were sex.. a bad guy...and of course a HEA... Best in the series so far!!! I just love this. Luna is such a strong, independent character. I love her frankness. Colin is a strong alpha and a really good guy even though he is a bit prejudice, I don't agree with him on any level but at least he is honest and upfront about it. You can't help who you love though and he is in for a rude awakening if he thinks he can just walk away from this half-breed, lol. Great couple, I really enjoyed reading their captivating story, very sexy, humorous and the interaction with the supporting characters has the one big supporting family feel to it. Love it!!!

I was provided a copy of this ebook.

3.5 out of 5 stars

I am giving this 3.5 out of 5 stars. I liked Luna and Colin. But their story dragged a bit during the first half of the story. Also the language. Luna's Southern Belle did not ring true to me. I felt all the 'y'alls' were vastly overused and often misplaced. Her 'bless you hearts' weren't right either. And Colin's brogue - mostly non-existent. I felt this author should have stayed away from trying to insert dialect into her stories. She didn't do it well at all and I kept being drawn out of the story because of it.

After their trip to Seattle the story took off for me. I loved how everyone came together in support of Luna. A satisfying ending.

Luna Reynaud has finally found a place to call home. With the staff at Whittier House, they've come up with a plan to open a Were resort. Will Laird Colin MacDowell of Glenbarra go along with their idea or will her sell the place. From the moment he sees her, there is an instant attraction. There are secrets she is keeping and fears the moment they are revealed, he will walk away. In the end, Scotland is calling and as Laird, he has responsibilities. Only Duncan, his brother is calling him out. Time to go get his lady.Loved it!

Ya’ll - it was okay except for one thing ...

I would have rated it more stars as I love VLTs novels - I particularly LOVED the nerd series - but there was this one thing that drove me nuts and caused me to start skipping pages to avoid dialogue. Ya’ll is a contraction for “You All”. Not “You”. Based on how often you is used in the dialogue of a book I got so annoyed with the usage that I started skipping dialogue to get through the book.

Also I’m not sure I liked how the story progressed and how little we learned about any of the characters.

I would have given this one about 3.5 stars however towards the end I felt like the Author dragged out the ending a bit? The flow completely stopped for me and it was hard for me to finish the book. With that being said. I liked this book the best so far. I really enjoyed how the main heroine is a halfbreed and not your typical human falls in love with shifter romance. It took a nice different spin.

I still found the first one to be the best, the plots are kind of empty in that I dont feel any imminent danger or threat. What seemed like a solid plot of them having to decide between the island and Scotland didnt even have spark of resolution. I liked book 1 and 1.5 but the rest feel phoned in so far.
