What happens when the cutthroat billionaire you’ve been sent to spy on finds out the truth?

Apparently…marriage.
Riley
Let me start from the beginning… To stay out of jail, I’m forced to spy on Kyle Townsend, the billionaire heir to the Townsend Industries throne. My plan is simple: infiltrate Townsend Industries, get evidence of their alleged illegal dealings, and fork it over to the person blackmailing me. Then I’ll be free to leave that life of crime behind me forever and raise my niece in the peace she deserves.
But Kyle’s smarter than the average trust fund baby. He’s also ruthless and distrustful. He never lets anyone in…until one day at work. I get sick. He’s there to take care of me, feelings spark, and I end up in his bed.
He reveals his tender side. And now I’m wondering if my billionaire mark could be my perfect match.
But then he discovers the truth about me before I can tell him.

What happens when the merciless billionaire you’re supposed to be spying on finds out the truth?
A revenge marriage contract.

Kyle
This marriage isn’t one of convenience… it’s for vengeance.
With Riley as my wife, I can feed misinformation to my enemies. I’ll use her to take them down and discard everyone who threatens the Townsend name.

But what happens when the wife who’s supposed to be nothing more than a pawn ignites feelings you shouldn’t and don’t want to have?

something about this just felt... forced? while it did have it's moments, they were truly just flickers. errors throughout were just the icing on the cake here for me. unfortunately momma didn't raise a quitter & I do fear this might now leave me in a slump 😕

Yeah, this was just not for me. I saw a booktuber I follow talking about how much she loved this book, and me having never heard of it or the author had me pretty excited to give it a try. Trust Me has a very promising premise, and even a decent opening act. The FMC, an ex scammer, is being blackmailed to scam the MMC’s billionaire family and figure out their secrets. I thought this would be more romantic suspense, at least that’s what the synopsis sounded like. But there really was no grit or suspense to this book whatsoever. In fact, this entire book was practically a snooze fest.

I think the thing that I liked least about this book was the two main characters. The FMC on her own was fine, if a little bland, while the MMC was practically insufferable. This man was so blind about his privilege and wealth that it was genuinely laughable. How do you not realize you have all the privilege in the world as being part of the 1%? It read very “ignorance is bliss” and not in a way that I could look past. And you’re probably like, “Girl, aren’t you the one reading the billionaire romance”, and yes, but when I’m reading about billionaires—which seems to be getting more and more often by the day—I want them to be semi ethical. Even if he’s murdering people I still want him to acknowledge his privilege. Maybe donate to a charity. At least be environmentally conscious. This man wouldn’t even know the meaning of ethical if it smacked him in the ass.

Together the FMC and the MMC also had no chemistry. Their relationship felt super forced, especially after the MMC makes the FMC marry him. I thought it would play out way different from how it did; it just ended up feeling awkward and clunky. I really didn’t understand why they liked each other by the end of this book. The MMC has no personality besides being an alpha male asshole (which wouldn’t have bothered me had he had a personality), and the FMC was way too smart for his dumbass. I really just didn’t understand it.

I think the nail in the coffin for me was the fact this is a next generation spin-off series. I didn’t know that going in (and I should have since it’s called “Townsend Legacy”), and that’s totally on me. But all the previous characters showing up in this book, and so often at that, it felt like a nuisance to me as a reader. I didn’t care about these characters that kept coming up because I didn’t know them. This is a personal thing for me, definitely not the authors fault, but it definitely docked down points to my enjoyment. So take that nitpick with a grain of salt, I guess.

So overall, this was a pretty book miss for me! I was pretty hyped up to try this after I saw that booktuber talking about it, but it really wasn’t my thing! I also don’t think I’ll try this author again, either. The writing style and I didn’t really mesh well together, another reason I think this didn’t work well for me!

The premise of this book was so good that I was very excited to read it. Unfortunately the plot progressed so slowly that by the time the characters finally got married (which didn’t happen after 50/60% into the book) I wasn’t even interested anymore.
Another thing that absolutely annoyed me was the side story with the niece. At first it was cute and it’s totally okay to include her into the story here and there BUT at times it felt like I’m not reading a romance book but instead a book about the relationship between Riley and her niece.
I lost count on how many times the author repeated the story of how Eve’s mother died and her father was such a bad person that Riley decided to take care of her. (And this is just to name one aspect of the story the author chose to repeat all the time, I’m not going to name all the other repetitions because the list is endless)

It also makes absolutely no sense that Kyle is so clear on the fact that he doesn’t trust anyone and doesn’t want to be in a relationship especially with a woman who works at his company but then he falls in love with Riley and acts all lovely with her after he only slept with her one time? Dear authors, if you’re going to include all cliches of a grumpy hero with trust issues at least make it make sense!

There was nothing about Kyle that was romantic. In fact, his whole personality and behavior towards Riley was rather concerning. And no, him being sweet to Eve does not make up for him being a walking red flag. Why do authors think it’s okay to write about abusive male heros and put some sweet moments here and there and everything’s suddenly okay?

I wish this book was way shorter and progressed faster with the plot OR that the author shouldn’t have mentioned the forced marriage aspect in the introduction to this book when said marriage only happens after 60% into the book.

Trust Me was an edgy Billionaire Romance with a lady con-artist who has a heart of gold. Riley has gotten herself in a bit of a tight spot and is trying desperately to shake off the sins of her past. With a niece who is relying on her and her biggest challenge ever before her, she has her work cut out for her.

Kyle Townsend is completely business focused. He is trying his very best to live up to the upstanding example he has in his father at their family company. He has no time for a sharp eyed consultant who is trying to tell him how to be better at his job. What does she know?

Yet neither of them can deny the crazy chemistry they have. Not even when Riley's secret gets exposed. Kyle might think he's using her when he pushes her into a Marriage of Convenience but... he might have a more personal excuse than he's willing to admit.

This is my first book by this author and from what I learned it is the start of a second generation series by the author, Townsend Legacy. Since I haven't read those previous books, I was a little nervous if I would feel that I was missing something. Of course, that didn't end up being an issue and it only made me super interested to check out the first series. So I will make time for that soon.

I really loved the back and forth between Kyle and Riley and I adored the little family they created with each other and Riley's niece Eve. It was so sweet!

I listened to the audio book and it was excellently narrated by Wesleigh Siobhan and Ryan West. West has the perfect growly and hot performance for the bossy billionaire and Sibhon brings the sass and the heart to Riley.

I highly recommend this book and I look forward to more of the Townsend Legacy.

There are plenty of enjoyable moments in this story; from my perspective, Kyle is Aaron 2.0. Riley Martin never stood a chance. The world is small and Kyle is about to find out how small. Riley has tried to move on from her past and make a better life for her niece, Eve. But the sins of her past have revisited and she needs to get close to Kyle Townsend or it’s game over. The truth comes to light will Kyle take a page from his father’s playbook. Heaven help any who think they can take on a Townsend and win. Kyle surprised me.

I can’t wait to see what happens next, so ready for Diego’s story.

Tiffany Patterson did the damn thang with Kyle because I was not feeling him at all. Then he steps up and took care of Riley in a way that allowed them both to let down the walls. I will be getting to know to rest of the Townsend family.

OMG!! I was not ready to say bye to the Townsend boys. I didn’t want to imagine Kyle being grown up to have a sex life. He’s still the 6 year old in Aaron’s Patience. I wanted more Aaron and Tyler but holy sh*t did Tiffany Patterson knock it out the park with this one!! Kyle is just like his father! In someways worse! Definitely a Townsend through and through. I absolutely loved this story and am more open to further story’s from the kids (don’t mind some stories from the past again either) loved Riley too. She could hold her own against Kyle and it was nice seeing Kyles relationship with his parents. Aaron was always a good father. I kind of wished Emily had made an appearance but she was there in spirit. 😂

5.0⭐️ Meet Aaron’s clone—his now grown-up son, Kyle, poised to become the COO of the empire that is Townsend Industries. The rest of Kyle’s siblings are also featured in supporting or supplemental roles, and they are simply delightful. I would not have missed this compelling read!

NB: This book takes place approximately 10 years after Aaron’s Gift. To get a much better perspective about what is really behind Kyle’s “trust no one” philosophy, I’d read this one first.

12 hours long audiobook, the first part was a bit slow going.

But it really picked up in the second half!

Especially the tension after mmc finds out fmc's secret and blackmails her with marriage.

The sexual and romantic tension was hot and the chemistry was so good.

Also, Eve was the sweetest child!!!
All children should be as sweet and adorable as Eve! 🥰

Kyle!!!! like father like son!

Tiffany just knows how to tell a story! I've fallen on love with the Townsend family and this new legacy is giving everything it needs to give! Riley was just the type of heroine this series needed. She has just enough bite to keep Kyle on his toes. Also can we talk about how crazy the Townsend men are!!! They always taking somebody down in them basements, the sad part is I be waiting on it! 😭😭😭 I mean who doesn't want to know your protected like that by your man and his entire family! Tiffany I love you girl! You never let me down.

“You own me. Mind. Body and soul. I’m yours.”

This follows Riley who is to follow and get close to billionaire tycoon Kyle Townsend. But what happens when Kyle discovers the real truth? A revenge marriage contract to tie her to him…

This was good. I love how Riley came from a broken home with nothing and made someone of herself with her business, supporting the homeless and changing for the better. All to support her 11-year-old niece Eve, who has a dead beat dad. Kyle is a grumpy workaholic wanting to reach the top and be promoted to CEO. He is not one for commitment or settling down until this red-lipped beauty changes the game he gives off my wife and don’t talk about her or be in the same room vibes. The controlling behaviour was delicious but a red flag at the same time. I did enjoy the storyline and I loved the spice. Discussions that were had of ADHD, Dyslexia and insufferable migraines I appreciated. I’m not 100% sold on the chemistry between these two. I enjoyed them but I’m not sure why it didn’t stand out for me. Overall it was a great audiobook to listen to. Wesleigh and Ryan did a great job with this dual narration.

Riley comes from a family of con artists. In order to avoid jail, Riley must plant a device on Kyle’s computer to steal some business information and give it to the person blackmailing her. She tries doing this by getting a consulting job with his company. But Kyle never lets anyone get that close to him, at least until Riley gets sick at work and be brings her home to take care of her. Unfortunately Kyle figures Riley out before she can tell him herself.

I loved how this book had some suspenseful vibes but still strong on the romance side. I also loved how the author dove into Riley’s background and her story. We didn't really get that with Kyle, but it's my understanding that's probably explained in other books. I did not like how Riley’s brother showed up unexpectedly, but I understand how it was needed in the story. I just didn't like how Eve (Riley’s niece that she takes care of) went through everything with her dad again. This was my first Tiffany Patterson book and I know it won't be my last!

Wesleigh Sibohan and Ryan West were great narrators for this book and their voices totally fit their characters. I would be happy to have them in my ears again also.

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You enjoy romances with family and business drama with spice and a dash of suspense.

Riley is being blackmailed into infiltrating townsend industries for evidence that they’re conducting illegal activities. She has her own consulting firm, and with her her father being a con artist, she has a lifetime of experience. She weasels her way into the company. She and billionaire, and heir to the townsend throne, Kyle Townsend end up working rather closely together. The growth of there relationship was such a joy to be witness to. I adored Riley, and absolutely fell for Kyle. The way he became so protective of Riley (and her niece, of whom she is the legal guardian) warmed my freaking heart. I loved Kyle’s character development, and honestly how badass riley was right from the beginning. She has had to struggle and survive her entire life and worked for everything she has. I had such a great time. Wesleigh Siobhan and Ryan West did an absolutely phenomenal job with the dual narration. Highly recommend!

I absolutely adored this book. Riley is such a baddie i like how good of a communicator she was and how she had Kyle down bad for her. I enjoyed every second of this book even if it had me stressed at times 😂 and i love the Townsend family so so much i loved reading about them esp Kyle's parents. Idk if they have a book alr but i need a book on them. Also loved Kyle's character evolution throughout the whole book. I liked how he would get back at anyone who hurt Riley.

I also loved the neurodivergent rep so much and Eve. And the SMUT, the tension oh my goodness it was gooood.

I'm gonna miss Riley and Kyle so freaking much i love them so much and can't wait to read about Diego & Monique's book (book 2)

I wanted badly to enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed the Townsend series (original Townsend, not the Texas group). I avoided reading this one for as long as I could because of that very reason.

I could go on and on about what I wish was different, but it boils down to this. The story isn’t new. It’s basically Aaron and Patience all over again.

When the author mentioned diving into the younger generation of the Townsend, I was hoping she would approach it as if they are all separate beings from the family. Considering all of the children with the exception of Diego, I believe, are biracial. This was a great opportunity to incorporate some of the cultural aspects into their love story.

This could’ve been so good. Aaron was my favorite Townsend. But even aspects of their story was limited.

In 2023, this could’ve been a much richer story. We have a biracial twin who grew up affluent. His parents adore each other and he comes from an alpha male, who believes in control and owning the space. Loving your woman blah blah. All of those things make Kyle much more than what we experienced in this book.

Not once did we address anything about their culture. They both read like older white characters. If the author hadn’t described them, I wouldve assumed Riley was some 30 something white woman. And Kyle the same… I mean she had him saying words like “minx”. Girl… in 2023! Isn’t that the type of language his father used?!

His insult to one of the guys bothering Riley was to call him a “chump.” I don’t know any 20 something saying that. The character of Kyle, spoke and behaved exactly like his father. When it would’ve been more interesting, if he had the essence of his father, but a more modern thought process. Less jealous of her simply talking to others. Because the jealousy demonstrated in this book felt more insecure, rather than someone putting their foot down because someone was crossing the line with her or flirting with her.

I’m telling you, this was the same story.

The line of the “Apple not falling far from the tree”, was good. But the impact would’ve been better if the author stuck with the essence of the Townsend me. But gave each of the children their own personalities separate from their parents.

I’m hoping she turns it around with Diego and Monique, especially since their romance was basically established in the previous book with their parents. And it really really could be a great story.

The Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree

Kyle is his father’s “mini-me”. His mother told that to Riley when she first met her at the Townsend home. I guess he put up his grumpy ways as a shield to keep anyone from getting too close to him. All of that failed when he laid eyes on Riley Martin. Even his mother knew that she was “the one” for her son.

Riley was trying her best to go the straight and narrow for the sake of her niece Eve. She hated the lifestyle in which she was raised and left her father and brother’s conning ways as soon as she turned eighteen she left. She preferred living in a homeless shelter where she was mentored by a woman she will never forget. She was determined to keep Eve away from the conning influence of her father and brother until her past was used to blackmail her and threaten Eve. She had no choice but to do what she did but she still fought against her blackmailer every step she could.

Kyle even blackmailed her into marrying him. He hid behind the fake marriage but his mother and father could see through him. He was in love and could not admit it. Riley had already fallen hard for him but just kept up with the fake marriage scenario until Kyle got what he wanted. Riley admitted everything about herself to him and he was still closed off. Until she could no longer take his grumpy ways. He represented everything she always wanted in her life and Eve's, a real loving family. She could see that he came from a close-knit family. Eve wanted a family too and she was already setting up Kyle for family life.

When all of Riley’s secrets came to light, she and Kyle were an unbeatable force to recond with. And they were able to get their hard-earned HEA and give Eve what she wanted too

sass and chaos… my favorite

This was such a great read and listen. As my first read of Tiffany Patterson’s, I was not disappointed! Kyle is an alpha/grump MMC, and Riley is a head strong, full of sass and wit FMC. There is seriously nothing I love more than an FMC that can handle her own. This story had me wanting to know what would happen next and the narrators for this book also had me on the edge of my seat! Wesleigh Siobhan Performs Riley and I cannot brag on Wesleigh’s talent enough! This was my first listen of hers and I am hooked! She gave somuch extra to the lines (especially in those spicy scenes) that it was sounding more like a movie. The way Tiffany Patterson wrote the story had me seeing it in my head but the way Wesleigh and Ryan West (who performs Kyle) delivered their lines had me feeling it to my core! Ryan was perfect for Kyle! I could feel Kyle’s grumpiness, his playfulness and Ryan definitely had me aching when it came to the betrayal. This Audiobook is a must listen especially if you like marriage of convenience, “My wife” vibes, strong FMCs, mental health/learning difficulties rep, and most importantly SPICE. There was this whole office scene that will live rent free in my head.

I hope you devour this book and enjoy it as much as I did!

This book was really comforting in a way. I really liked it. I liked how outspoken and badass the FMC was. She didn’t take anyones shit and I was so gere for it. I also loved ger neice. She was the cutest and so sweet. The auntie and neice bond was amazing and so lovely to read about.

I liked the MMC too. I loved the how he took care of the Fmc when she got sick😩 super cute moment. He really did have a soft side even if it took a while for him to show it. My favorite part of the book was the middle. Right before all the drama started. That’s not something I say often. Cause usually the middle of a book tends to be boring and outdrawn, but that was not the case. That part of the book was so comforting and sweet. I wish I could stay in that part of the book forever✨ Over all a good read. The ending was a bit rushed and the drama became to unrealistic at one point, but other then that it was good and I do recommend it✨

Starchy and stern are two of my favorite flavors so I jumped at the chance to listen to this one. Kyle is an Alpha-hole and eager to get a promotion in his father's company, Eve is being blackmailed by a big bad to commit corporate espionage and get deets on Kyle's company that will bring the whole thing down. Honestly all the corporate talk and derring-do went right over my head, it was boring and took up too much of the book. The only saving grace was the dual narration which elevated this book greatly. I enjoyed the romance and the hero was delightfully terrible at first but was redeemed well. Unfortunately the romance was secondary to the plot and the book was too long, I got bored and was ready for it all to be over.

This book was really fun to read. I loved the idea of how she was spying on him and it turned into marriage of convenience. Honestly everything about this book I loved. I JUST FOUND OUT THIS SERIES IS A THIRD GENERATION SERIES. If I had known that, I would have read Kyle's grandfather's book, his dad's book and his uncle's book before his. Now I'm going to go through the back list before I read Diego's book. Honestly, I loved these characters so much. Riley is such a strong independent woman and I love her so much for it. The way she loves Eve as well! I'm just happy for them all.

I made a massive mistake starting this series backwards.

I ADORED this book. What is it about bossy, possessive, “don’t look at my wife”, Daddy vibe-giving men that make me swoon? And he’s a FAMILY MAN. *double swoon*

They say it runs in the family so now I have to start from the beginning.

I can’t wait for the rest of this series to come out!

Good palette cleanser if you’re used to darker things. I will say the reason for the forced marriage didn’t make sense. But I’ll take it because it seems Kyle knew that too but didn’t care so why should I?
