I know a bit about horses but ready this reminded me a lot about horses and trainers when they were racing.
There was very little personal edge to this story more the excitement of the racing but I am guessing this is also how Wayne views the world as well as the author ! The injuries and tumors that would have been a major blow in his life but were nearly a footnote !
