Incredibly captivating book. It's like Orwell's 1984 came true.

I lived in this tragic parody of a society, and this is how I know that what is described in this book is a reality. Otherwise it is hard to believe. The author managed to bring humor and sense of adventure in what is really a horror of living under Soviets and post-Soviets. As someone who lived there I can testify that it's all authentic and recognizable, however surrealistic it may sound to a westerner. Yet especially interesting to see it through eyes of an American. Highly recommend!
