In Love With My Best Friend’s Twin by Nova Avery is a sweet contemporary romantic comedy about Phoebe, who always thought her best friend Kaylin’s twin brother Kallum was infuriating, only to discover that the spark of attraction hiding under years of bickering might be more real than either of them expects as they spend a spirited vacation together and try to keep their burgeoning connection secret from Kaylin and her family. It blends enemies to lovers and best friend’s brother tropes with a light, playful tone that won many readers’ hearts.

From the moment Phoebe finds herself seated beside Kallum on a long flight to the Maldives for a double birthday trip, I felt the electric push and pull between them, the kind that feels both hilarious and deeply human. Their sniping banter made me laugh more than once, and I kept turning pages because beneath the teasing there was a vulnerability in both characters that made their slow shift toward genuine affection feel meaningful. What truly stood out for me was how the story balanced fun romantic tension with real emotional stakes: Phoebe loves Kaylin like a sister and fears betraying that bond, while Kallum’s rough exterior gradually softens to show a thoughtful, caring man worth rooting for.

Rating: 3 out of 5

I loved how this book made me smile and feel tender for these two flawed yet lovable characters learning to see each other with fresh eyes. The chemistry and emotional growth carried me along, and though some parts lean into well‑trodden romance territory, the sincerity and charm here lifted it into a genuinely enjoyable, cozy read that left me feeling hopeful and satisfied.

Phoebe and Kaylin have been best friends since they were children. After Phoebe's parents died when she was young, Kaylin's family stepped in and fully embraced her as one of their own. So when Kaylin's family book a vacation to the Maldives for her 30th birthday (and her twin brother Kallum's), of course Phoebe is included! There is only one problem... Phoebe and Kallum can't stand each other.

After spending over 24 hours stuck next to each other travelling, then all day every day whilst on vacation, Phoebe starts to realise that love and hate are very close emotions. Will she risk losing her best friend and found family for a shot at love with Kallum?

I thought this was a great forced proximity romance and I liked that we got to see the characters both in vacation mode in the Maldives and back in New York. I thought Phoebe was quite relatable with her fears and vulnerabilities being well expressed. It is a clean romance, but 🔥 is referenced. Kallum's character in particular is pretty assertive 😉

This is a good story of falling for your best friend, but I could have done without the small amount of foul language. I feel it wasn't really necessary.

A Love They Never Saw Coming.

Oh this was a great book by Nova Avery. I have always loved the enemies to lovers trope. And what a better enemy to fall for than your best friend's twin brother? Right away you are immediately made aware of the chemistry, witty banter, sexual tension, the raw lust building between Kallum and Phoebe. Even though they've had an animosity for each other, they can't help being drawn to one another. Until one day when their guards are down and they spend time together and learn that their animosity towards each other is an illusion, hiding away their truth. That each of them has found their other half. But of course there's always a wrinkle or two in the fabric of hidden secrets. No spoilers. You'll have to read the book. And trust me, you will not be disappointed. And the epilogue? My favorite!! Nova Avery hit a homerun with this story. I highly recommend it.

Does Anyone Remember "Romper Room" ? . . .

Phoebe and Kallum have known each other since childhood. He is her best friend Kaylin’s twin brother, and they continually bicker back and forth. But Phoebe loves the Everson family who treat her as one of their own.

When the twins plan on celebrating their 30th birthday together as a family, Phoebe is included. Despite the fact that Phoebe and Kallum continue to snipe at each other, he is easy to like, and their bickering convinces strangers they are a newly married couple. (That, of course, starts the sniping all over again.) And on the lengthy flight to the birthday spot, Phoebe wakes up to find herself snuggled against Kallum and gripping his thigh! Realizing he had his arm around her, she leaped up, waking him, and began complaining that he had been holding her. Will the two of them ever begin to see the changes in each other by now? Being together like this, will they start to feel an attraction as they perhaps become “grown-ups” at some point? And even if they do give each other a chance, will Phoebe be afraid to move forward with Kallum if it could hurt her best friend’s feelings somehow? Or will Phoebe foolishly give up on loving Kallum in the mistaken mindset that loving someone somehow destroys friendships?

Eye-Crossing Tedium and Tired Tropes

This author has a very tedious way of writing. I almost felt my eyes glaze over in the very first chapter as she detailed in the finest minutiae how the heroine almost missed her flight. She comes across as a scatterbrained dimwit who would willingly give up her much longed-for vacation—after her big struggle to get to the plane on time—because she has to take a 12-hour flight next to and perhaps spend more time with her best friend’s twin brother, who, of course, is her longtime sworn enemy. Yawn. Seriously, would anybody in the real world care so much about a plane seatmate and someone who may be in the same locale as them? I swear, I sometimes get so annoyed by these trope-heavy books. It takes a truly skilled writer to make them palatable, let alone pleasurable. Perhaps at some point—in the very near future, one could only hope—contemporary romance will swerve back from the tired tropes and give us genuine romance, but I somehow doubt that's coming anytime soon. As I couldn't take too much more toenail-gazing and dimwittedness, so to speak, I DNFed the book rather quickly. If you have more of a stomach for tedious writing and uninspired tropes, you may enjoy this book more than I did

I received a free copy of this book, but that tdid not affect my review.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is the author's second novel & I think it will keep readers interested in reading more of this author's works. The synopsis gives you a good idea of what to expect. It's a clean enemies to lovers best friend's brother romance, told through Phoebe's pov, that readers may like.

Growing up without her parents & having a rocky relationship with her sister made Phoebe feel as if she is welcomed & a part of the Everson's. Kallum is the only Everson who Phoebe doesn't get along with. However, when they are on a family trip together she begins to see a caring & attractive side to him. Because she worries about how his family will react, they decide to keep their relationship a secret until things become more serious between them. While keeping a secret isn't an easy thing for her to do, the way that Kallum treats her makes it easy for Phoebe to fall in love with him.

The romance was fast paced & there was a lot of telling what happened rather than showing. Compared to her debut novel, this story left more room for development & wanting to feel more of a connection between Phoebe & Kallum. Also, I understand how she felt but I couldn't really care for Kaylin or how she reacted to Phoebe & Kallum dating even after seeing how miserable Phoebe was. However, I still think the story was good enough & the things I didn't care for won't bother other readers. So, this book is worth a read.

I have read several books by this author and find them all delightful. This one, however, may have to be my favorite.

Phoebe is going on vacation with her best friend's family. Unluckily, she was seated next to her best friend's twin brother, Kallum - smoking hot, but having "the personality of a stale, unsalted potato chip". They have never gotten along and Phoebe is now dreading the long flight. To her dismay, she wakes up and they are CUDDLING! How can this feel so good?

After a few tender moments during the trip, Phoebe is starting to see Kallum in a new light, and he makes it clear he's interested in her. When they start seeing each other secretly, how can they keep this from his family - and how will they react seeing them together?.

This book was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! It was somehow spicy without leaving the “clean romance” genre. It does have some mild swear words if you are concerned about that.

Phoebe is on her way to the Maldives to celebrate her best friends 30th birthday. She is excited to see Kaylin and spend a week celebrating her friend. After boarding the plane her mood gets turned around when she sees who is sitting beside her on the plane. Kallum. Her best friends twin. The guy who she spent her childhood arguing with. While he still seems to be the same arguable man, there is something different. Glimpses of a caring man. What will the week in the Maldives bring?

I received a free review copy of this book from the author. I was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Phoebe can’t stand her best friend Kaylin’s Twin brother Kallum Everson , but she’d suck it up at the 30th Birthday Party for both of them in the Maldives ,after all Mr and Mrs Everson have generously foot the bill…..landing in her seat in first class the stranger in the next seat is her nemesis, there’s no way she can stand the three flights totally twenty four hours of him! Somehow they get there with lots of angst and banter between them, spending time in his close proximity Phoebe realises the finest of lines between live and hate . The horror of it darn it ! Brilliant reading great humour and relationship between the characters.

I enjoyed this story. It’s a good combination of the best-friend’s-brother and enemies-to-love tropes. The writing seemed stronger to me than the author’s previous book. The path of the romance’s development was very engaging. Kallum turned out to be such a sweet male lead. While I hated for Phoebe to make some of the decisions she did later in the book, I thought the author was able to create justification for her choices based on her history and her fears. It is left to the reader’s imagination how far the couple’s physical relationship goes, but there is some fairly harsh language used sparingly in the book. It’s an easy and quick read.

This book was a quick read, but unfortunately, I found it lacking in many aspects. As a hopeless romantic, I am not against cheesy tropes, but this just felt amateur and not well-executed. The characters were forgettable, with no depth or development, making it hard for me to care about them. The relationship between the female lead and the twin brother felt forced, with no real reason for her supposed 'hatred,' which was frustrating. The insta-love aspect and the juvenile banter between characters made the romance feel unconvincing. While I didn't hate reading it..I wish the author had spent more time developing the characters and plot to make it a more enjoyable and meaningful read.

But meh, I've read worse.

Phoebe is on her way to see her best friend and celebrate her birthday and everything is going her way until she finds her seat and she is sitting next to Kallum her best friend's twin. They have spent their childhood bickering with each other, but this trip turns the tide between them. Will their banter lead them to finding happiness with each other. This delightful couple had me in their corner to get their acts together and find happiness!.

In Love With My Best Friend's Twin is a delightful story, of which I found to be written beautifully.

I really enjoyed Phoebe & Kallum's story. The bickering back and forth between them was hilarious! It made the book entertaining from beginning to end. It was obvious they had so much in common but just couldn't get past the hate. I loved the secondary characters as well. I knew Gammy would figure it out first what was happening between them. The selflessness of Phoebe was heart warming although it broke her heart in the process. So glad Kallum didn't give up on them. Good read!

Phoebe & Kallum have known each other most of their life. How do things work out when your best friends twin becomes your crush? Especially when their family is your family. I love the banter between these two. Will she have to chose between her best friend and they guy she’s fallen for?
This is a very sweet romcom that I truly enjoyed.

I will admit it, I was laughing out loud at the antics between Kellum and Phoebe. I’ve always heard there is a fine line between love and hate and they were walking that fine line and protesting a bit too much. Nova Avery does a good job of bringing that fine line into focus and actually surprising me with Kaylin’s reaction. I enjoyed this book.

Phoebe has hated her BFF Kaylin's twin brother Kallum for as long as she can remember. Then when they ended up on the same plane together, Phoebe began seeing another side of Kallum. This story is full of romance, misunderstanding, and heartbreak, ending in a HEA. Very highly recommended.

This was a really sweet book. I loved their banter. It was clear from the start that they were avoiding their feelings and hiding behind arguments and faux dislike. The ending was so great!

This is my first book by this author but it will definitely not be my last! This was a very sweet best friends brother/enemies to lovers trope! I am a twin (although have a twin sister not brother) and when I had seen the title I knew I had to read it. The story was well written, hardly noticed any grammatical errors, and o loved the witty banter turned to sweet, slow burn tension of their passion for one another. I love a good story where the characters have high attraction for one another but their relationship is also formed by getting to know one another on a personal level. Kallim sounds like a dream - wealthy but doesn’t act arrogant or anything. A man that goes for what he wants and he wanted Phoebe! A easy quickly read but one that I thoroughly enjoyed! I will look forward to more from this author 🙂👍🏻
